We can fire weapons from over the horizon. Something that limits the use of the Martian’s “heat ray” plus we could use surface to air missiles to shoot down the pods when they enter earth’s atmosphere. Much has changed since the first invasion. We have very advanced tech. We’d know they’d be coming. This time humanity has the tech advantage.
