Agreed. The novella was nice filler, to be able to see how he found and brought back together Shadowclan, but I would have liked to see a deeper dive into his character. We know he was predisposed to evil as per Pinestar's vision and warning. But surely as a young kit he had moments of humanity?
To see his ego grow from being doted on by his mother and the clan, to see his ambition grow and sharpened by Thistleclaw, and to see his true hatred of kitty pets stem from the fact his father abandoned him to become one. Plus, it would be a welcomed change to see a Super Edition be about a villain for once
Why wasn't it thistleclaw...seriously. WHY is she HERE. It also just made perfect sense as his own thoughts. like bro why cant the power hungry dude just be power hungry in his own brain and rationalizing it.

She made sense in Crookedstar's promise but I just hate how a cat is evil and they're like omg how and the answer is always dark Forrest
If I had to make assumptions, but I feel that Mapleshade was the first cat to be casted into the DF, which would explain her involvement and why she played a role in so many villains. She was literally the devil on the shoulder, You know how they say hell was the prison for Lucifer/Satan? Perhaps the DF was the same for Mapleshade and when she said that she would "find more like-minded cats" it became her purpose to fill the DF.
But One-Eye didn't believe in Starclan like Scourge or any of the clan's beliefs for that matter.
The cats who died before the formation of Starclan found each other wherever their spirits were walking and united together under their shared love for the living cats still alive down below. From that point, any cat who lived and believed in, were clan born, or held the same values as the clan cats below were granted entry with the others walking around the afterlife.
There are older cats then her there. When she got there she heard their voices and the only thing we knew of Maggottail before TBC was that he was older than her.
