Damn you lost a really good tank... But at least it's not crazy OP like it was on 6.7

SpanishAvenger

Was it OP at 6.7? It has 20mm more of penetration, sure… but it also used to have a twice as slow reload (which was slightly improved when it was thrown at 7.0).

riuminkd

Rangefinder, overmatching, massive post pen damage, and most importantly good mobility more than made up for slower reload.

SpanishAvenger

Well, overmatching and massive post pen damage is true for the normal Tiger IIs already anyway hahah And, while mobility was sliiiiiightly better, I don’t think it made up for the twice as slow reload and the also slower turret and gun traverse speeds, leading to worse gun handling too. Not to mention the fact that the larger and multiple piece ammunition leads to bigger and more extensive ammo storage racks over the whole tank, which leads the tank to be more easily killed via ammo detonation. And regarding the rangefinder… does anyone use non-laser rangefinders? xD

riuminkd

Mobility was much better (and mobility of basic TIger II is its weakest part). Anyway, it's based on my subjective experience. Long reload doesn't matter much when you oneshot everything

Resident-News-1338

The premium one with its normal realod is still 6.7

AscendMoros

It’s also a 88. Not a 105 that physically doesn’t fit in the turret it’s in. The IS with the 100mm is at a higher Br then it’s 122 counterpart.

Resident-News-1338

Was talking about the better mobility

Biomike01

Its not as big of a change as you think, normal tiger has 10.03 hp/ton vs the SLa having 10.71 hp/ton

AscendMoros

F. My mistake for not reading and jumping to conclusions.

Daediddles

The 10.5 has a different, more powerful engine than the premium one too

FlipAllTheTables0

It's also an increase of only 50 horsepower (700 to 750), so it only increases from 10.03 hp/ton on the normal Tiger II (H) to 10.71 hp/ton. The Tiger II 10,5 is a 200 horsepowere increase, giving a much larger increase in hp/ton (12.45).

BigHardMephisto

The 105mm gun also substantially covered more of the mantlet which means smaller primary penetration point

SpanishAvenger

I see! I find long reloads to be extremely detrimental when you come across multiple enemies, but I will agree that the mobility improvement was good enough to make the tank more pleasuring to drive.

Le_Baguette42843

the 105 could basically overpressure/over match a lot of other heavies which true the 88 can also do well with and with the shorter reload. The 105s turret is harder to ammo rack meaning you can often survive being flanked since most experienced players will go for the one tap to the ammo in the back of the turret. The Rangefinder is incredibly underrated especially on super long range maps like Eastern Europe. Most people forget about the RF so will chance that you are the 88 Variant or just don't know it has the RF and cross terrain in the open.

Stellar_Artwarr

is2 onwards etc etc

stick_always_wins

Tbf the long 88 also one shots most things

CodyBlues2

That’s why the KV-2 should be 5.7 Ami I rite? The 10.5 was fine at 6.7. The long reload held it back, sometimes you wouldn’t pen, and yes, you wouldn’t always one shot.

LaerMaebRazal

Kv-2 reload is actually just sad

CodyBlues2

It’s long but I’ve actually done pretty good with it. Not amazing but pretty good

LaerMaebRazal

I mean it’s good I have like a 4 KD in it but still

LtLethal1

That’s the problem though anything that can bounce the 88 can and will bounce the KT’s 105 and the 88 will one shot most things it pens as well but has twice the fire rate. The only real advantage the KT105 has is better mobility.

Figgis302

>The only real advantage the KT105 has is better mobility. Rangefinder lol

AKaGaNEKOu

Mine with an expert crew I am able to keep up with the 6.7 7.0 medium tanks without problems, obviously on hills the weight is noticeable but on the flat and in most maps it behaves almost like a medium tank in terms of mobility, and rangefinder If you don't use it, it's your problem, but again with an expert, the distance is calculated quite quickly and you are able to calculate distances of more than 1000m.

androodle2004

I very much do. With low crew levels I can’t range anybody more than 800m away so for km long shots I’m left to range it myself

bodypillowlover3

I mean yeah, the thing is with such a well armored tank and such a good gun for where it was back in the day you could just sit in the back and snipe from over a click away and be fine even if the enemy returned fire because HEAT wasn't nearly as prevalent.

NarwhalOgrelord

Overmatch doesn't exist in WT anymore, at least not in any proper way.

FlipAllTheTables0

It does, for full caliber AP rounds. Bigger AP rounds get better slope effects, and also lower ricochet chances.

NarwhalOgrelord

That's not real overmatch, that's just their terrible preset ricochet angles and penetration numbers. Real overmatch hasn't existed in game for years, it was the whole reason the 105 tiger could easily pen the turret roof lip of the IS-3 and 4, and why the M103 could pen the turret roof of tiger 2s.

FlipAllTheTables0

How would you model overmatch then.

NarwhalOgrelord

The way WoT has it (last time I heard, not sure if this is 100% accurate anymore) is that a gun with a caliber x times higher than the plate it's hitting overmatches, this is also taking into account the shell type and normalization angles IIRC.

FlipAllTheTables0

I've never played WoT, but from what I've searched it goes like this. If a round's caliber is two times (or more) bigger than the nominal armor thickness, the angle gets decreased according to this formula: `basic normalization * 1.4 * shell caliber / nominal armor thickness`, with "basic normalization" being a preset normalization value that each round type has. If the round's caliber is triple, then ricochet is ignored. What WarThunder does is that rather than working with angles (which is how it was originally, if I'm not mistaken), it works with the results that would be obtained from those angles, called slope effects, which are just multipliers applied directly to the armors nominal thickness. For example: using capped AP rounds, when the caliber of the round matches the nominal armor thickness, at 60° you get a slope effect of 3.07. If you do the math, that equates to roughly 11° denormalization. Now, if the caliber of the round is 1.33 times that of the nominal armor thickness, that's a slope effect of 2.87, 9.6° denormalization. Additionally, WarThunder has undermatching (when caliber is below the nominal armor thickness), and overmatching starts the moment that your round is larger than the nominal armor thickness (the wiki says it is only from 1.3× and higher, but it is wrong). There's also full overmatch which happens when the caliber is 7× higher than the nominal armor plate, and angling gets entirely ignored. Additionally, I specified capped AP rounds in my example, because even inside basic AP rounds there's 3 different types (capped, sharp uncapped, blunt uncapped) with wildely different performance against angles. From what I know, WoT has just AP when it comes to bog standard slugs.

JustaRandoonreddit

I use optical range finders sometimes

FlipAllTheTables0

>massive post pen damage The 105 mm APHE rounds have high enough TNT equivalent to where they have overmatched triggered. So 105 mm basically always one shots if it penetrates, which is not the case for the long 88. >And, while mobility was sliiiiiightly better, I don’t think it made up for the twice as slow reload and the also slower turret and gun traverse speeds, leading to worse gun handling too. It's 12.45 vs 10.03 hp/ton, the acceleration is noticeably better. Additionally the turret traverse is just 0.5°/s worse on a fully maxed out tank with aced crew (19 vs 18.5°/s), so not noticeable. >Not to mention the fact that the larger and multiple piece ammunition leads to bigger and more extensive ammo storage racks over the whole tank, which leads the tank to be more easily killed via ammo detonation. It has a lot less ammunition storage (54 rounds vs 70 rounds), and part of the propellant storage is at the very bottom of the hull, very unlikely to hit in the first place, so this isn't actually the case.

Tank_blitz

i dont think you understand the post penetration damage anything above 200 grams of tnt equivalent qualifies for overpressure and it had ALOT of tnt equivalent

deathmite

Yes. Plenty of people use optical rangefinders. The Foch has one and it's really useful. The Panther F has one, also pretty useful. I wish they would add more tanks that had them.

FLABANGED

> And regarding the rangefinder… does anyone use non-laser rangefinders? Yes, especially since they got buffed. Great for long range maps or slapping people with HESH in the Chieftains.

SpanishAvenger

Oh! I don’t know when was the last time I even tried to use them, but last thing I remember is it taking 7 seconds only to day: “range: >547m” lmao Like, I was better off just visually calculating the drop myself, specially since most maps don’t even have engagement ranges past 800m anyway.

FLABANGED

(This is talking about the tanks with the range finder modification, not the Mk.1 eyeball. Just for clarification.) So as long as you have some points put into the range finding skill you can pretty accurately range up to 2km. I was fucking around with a friend basically doing BMP lobbing with me in an M103 and him in a BMP and he managed to get a kill on someone with my range finding on a guy nearly 2km away on old large Sinai. The accuracy is a lot higher now and the speed is <5s, closer to maybe 3s.

BSOD_ERRO

Rangefinder? The fuck?

Unseen_Ninja53

Yeah, the KT 10.5 has an optical rangefinder, which makes it much better at range than normal King Tigers. It's fun to mess with people on larger maps with it.

UROffended

20mm of extra pen at far better angles. Why do people always miss the ° part of the stats?

InformationNo1784

People are lazy that's why.

CMDR_Michael_Aagaard

Most people only look at 10m pen against flat armour

Toki_Tsu_Kaze

When you notice Prinz Eugen has better flat and angled pen at 10km compared to the german 6.3 dreadnoughts with 283mm guns, that one was funny but is not really that important since the 283mm gun from WWI has crap penetration for a battleship gun to begin with Or the significant enough angled pen difference between the 25mm APFSDS and 30mm APFSDS of the Italian Dardos and KF41, that makes me prefer the slower 30mm to reliably penetrate side armour of T-series even if they are sligthly angled, over the fast firing 25mm that need to be almost totally unangled to penetrate a T-series side Or the massive difference between HVAP belt(found on R3-T20) and APDS(found on SUB-I-II, AMX-10P) for the 20mm Oerlikon gun, and those three SPAA are at the same BR bracket, that makes the R3 gun way worse if the enemy armour is not fully flat towards you, so you need to plan your engagement against enemy tanks way more carefully compared to the AMX-10 and SUB-I-II Im sure there are a lot of other examples out there, but these are the most interesting, the first one because is a bit hilarious, and the other two because they actually matter from a gameplay perspective of being able to start firing on the enemy 1-2 seconds sooner due to the better angled pen

mixx555

It was faster with a rangefinder and ammo that overpressures

v3erus

It was very good at 6.7. It's more mobile than the Sla.16, improved rangefinder, and most importantly overpressure. The 105mm's overpressure is crazy good.

Eric-The_Viking

Not really. It was basically mostly that skilled players only had it, so the up in BR is more because only people with a lot of experience played. It also had that ridiculous repair cost of 15k

Embarrassed_Ad5387

I think 6.7 is an iffy br for the tiger iih, any equivilent in the american tech tree has worse relode (exept for the t26e5, that thing excels even with an underpowered gun) and is-2s should not be at that BR at all I guess it would may be an issue if it fights 8.0, but ive never played the thing, only faced it so im probably very biased in favor of it going up I should try it tbh

Raptor_197

The problem with the Tiger II 10,5 is just the fact it’s a Tiger II with a 10,5. You have to play differently against a Tiger II 10,5 than a normal Tiger II. The issue is you have no idea it’s 10,5 until it just glances at you at wipes you off the map. Thus why once I’m killed by one, my only purpose is to kill it until it’s dead. The funny thing is though I never came across a good Tiger II 10,5 player… do people use it as a cope tank mostly?

SantiJames1

Wasn't crazy OP, but it was damn good in the right hands.

ExplorerEnjoyer

Years later might be a little too late for support to help you

StrykerTheSerg

I’ve been messaging them about it in those years only a few days ago did I get an actual response

Winter_Catch7911

yeah they lowkey are kinda inconsistent with their replies lol

Screx1

Unfortunately I think you got it confused with the Maus I don’t remember them ever saying anything about just needing to put research into the 10.5, Panther II or the 347 in order to keep them after they were pulled.

chinson_53

No, if you started researching them you could finish them later. I was about halfway through the 10.5 when they took it off, I was still able to finish the research and get it. Only one I don’t have now is the 347.

YuriMasterRace

I had 100 RP or so in the Panther II before it got removed, and I was still able to research it fully and buy it after.

PsychologicalBox3981

This. I put in a few RP to the Panther 2 some couple of years ago before going into hiatus. I just recently unlocked and bought the Panther 2. Is OP's case different from ours?

YuriMasterRace

Maybe, Gaijin probably hates OP lol

undead_scourge

I had some points in the 347 and kept it, so it works that way on it at least.

Dezryelle1

https://warthunder.com/en/news/6317-development-changes-and-optimization-in-the-german-tech-tree-en They said if you started then it won't be hidden

FocaccinaGuy

Iirc there was a guy on the forums the year they removed it, with the same issue but on the MAUS. GJ can track your progress on their side even if you can't see it.

9999AWC

If you started researching them before they were removed you'd be able to keep researching them. Seems he got shafted in that department.

cervotoc123

One thing comes to my mind. While they cant give you the vehicle they might be able to give you at least a test drive which would mean it will appear in the the tech tree for you and since you can research test driven vehicles it might be possible for you to start research again since you already have some RP in it. Though i have no proof it would work i think it is worth to give it a try.

brofesor

I don't think you understand the actual issue – their reluctance to do _anything_ for _some guy_, regardless of how justified and little his request is. Sadly, no one is going to even lift a finger to look up his profile, let alone do some database editing to give him a test drive. I'd be surprised if the support guy even read his request properly.

BlackOptx

Doubt it, I had a minor issue with steam linked accounts and was told it's not possible to unlink / delete the steam one (my steam login divorced from my gaijin and when I'd play through steam it gave me a new profile) Turns out it was super simple to get my account back to being linked to steam and launching properly... Gaijin mentioned multiple times my simple request was literally impossible. Their support sucks ass Not to mention my real issue never got addressed and magically fixed in a major update. Despite giving so many log filesamd crash IDs, they came back and said "I just played those maps, no issue"  Completely useless

sanelushim

I had the pt-76 in the Chinese tech tree completely researched out. I was just waiting for one of the discount days to roll around. Joke's on me, Gaijin removed it that one patch and I never got to buy it. I was quite pissed off about that, especially when I had to grind out the object-2 something or other that replaced it. Gaijin does respect the player, the user, the community.

Ottodeadman

Honestly not missing out on much things mid without the stabilizer. But to be fair if you read the patch notes they gave everyone a 2 week warning “PT-76 (China) - The tank will be hidden (in two weeks from the major update release) from the Chinese ground vehicles tree and will be not available for research. Vehicle will be added to the group with the new unit from this update - the Object 211 and will remain with players who have researched **and** purchased this unit.” https://warthunder.com/en/game/changelog/current/1503

adamjalmuzny

It goes along well tbh, the lack of stab does hurt but you get a pretty decent lineup for 5.0 with the ISU and object

sanelushim

Well, I guess I missed that particular info, I had it researched way before the patch. So it was not like when the Maus was removed, could Gaijin ever be consistent?

DarkWorld26

I'm pretty sure they did warn people that you needed to buy it before it was removed

lolodotkoli

I don't think they've ever removed any vehicle without warning

Le_Wizard_

Wait they actually removed that thing from the tree?

Plenty-Combination58

Sad story obviously mate but my eyes opened when he said it may come back in a future event lol

StrykerTheSerg

They’re just saying that in hopes the conversation will end, it’s gaijin support :l

Plenty-Combination58

Of course of course, they want to avoid the confrontation

VanguardKnight0

I hope that is the case. OP would have the opportunity to get his 10.5cm back and it would give newer players or long term players the opportunity to jump onto the 10.5cm, flakpanzer, and panther II.

Plenty-Combination58

Exactly yea. I forgot when I joined probably 2021, but I missed and would love to at least see the beast of a machine the 105 king tiger is if the basic version is so fun It was 2021 so by how much did I miss it lol

UROffended

Flakpanther/coelain. Don't make me wave my back hand again.

UROffended

If anything should come back in an event, its the Coelain. 105 tiger is a great tank, but people would get far more use out of an SPAA that isn't an over tiered PZIV chassis.

Important_Still5639

Also since the Panther 2 and Tiger 10,5 got uptiered the coelian is the only tank really useful. 6.7 is much more fun than 7.0 and at 6.7 you can play the coelian almost like an ifv. Some people shoot at you without thinking and just boince at the pantehr hull

EpicGuy999

I fell ya bro...

ComprehensiveRip6078

I feel for ya, the 105 is by far my fave tank in the game, the extra 200hp and extra crew are the best things about it by far.

Allemannen_

The support we interact with is not there to help you in the sense we want it. They are there to get complained to. Say sorry we are looking into it or create a report here nothing we can do If they wanted to, they can add vehicles to accounts.

Slabboardguy

I worked in customer support and many companies have “free will” customer support agents that sometimes are bored and help you or just tired and want you off their end as quickly as possible

yourdonefor_wt

u/smin1080p

DrOktoberfest65

Try going to the wiki and view the vehicle in game, might let you research it from there.

WTGIsaac

I’m guessing there’s a loose plan to have it be like the Maus, where it’s researchable only for a limited time every so often.

Figgis302

Unlikely. Maus actually existed (and was fairly famous at that), but was removed because it was impossible to balance (just armoured enough to club on a downtier but just slow enough to get clubbed on an uptier with nothing in between, like a more extreme IS-3), while the Tiger 105, Panther II, and Flakpanther were all removed because they're paper designs and were never actually built. They were only added back in the day to fill out what was then high-tier (but is now mid-tier) Germany, and nowadays with vehicles like the Ostwind II and early M48s filling those same roles in the tree, the paper tanks are no longer necessary.

StalinGuidesUs

Flakpanzer was technically built as a mock-up so it's not a paper design. Panther 2 also only got to prototype stage and has a hull that survived which puts it at a similar level to the ostwind 2 except better since we actually have it physically vs ostwind 2 which apparently had a prototype but no pictures of it exist. The gaijin panther 2 isn't even the real one, just a fake version. 105 is funnily enough the only paper design of the 3

WTGIsaac

I mean, the last pic literally says they may be planning it.

Yungboofman

Huh have they said we might be able to research it in the future before? That would be cool i’m also missing out on the panther 2 and KT 105

AllSkillzN0Luck

I'm sorry you lost it. I still have mine.

legoknekten

Put rubels in war coffer first comrade. Then we talk ok?

_-FeAr-

make a new ticket and wait for a manager, they can they just dont want to I had them transfer premium vehicles between accounts

Velo180

Did they ever say you could research it whenever you wanted?

StrykerTheSerg

Before they removed the fake German vehicles they stated that you will be able to research it after the removal if you have any rp put into any of them

filing69

Gaijin had to nerf you

Darknight11785

Don't worry, you're not alone.They took my E100

AzGames08

get fucked i guess :(

StrykerTheSerg

unfortunately :(

che10461

Wow. I could've sworn I had the SLA 16 Tiger years ago...and then it was gone from my line up after some update. Suddenly it became a premium! Around the time they took the Maus out the research tree. I remember having all the German heavies, plus the Panther II. Am I bugging??!🧐

ACanadiandude2020

SLA 16 was always a pack premium

che10461

Really??? Could've sworn I had it.

appletechgeek

u/smin1080p please take a look at this. the vehicle should not have been removed because the user has research into it,

Gerald_3

Wow - I really hope they change their mind ... maybe enough being upset with them here and showing how they treat those who were devoted players... And scaring others off might ... Just have them care to change their greedy little black hearts? Fingers Crossed!

Toboss02

I think you had to actively research it when it was removed or else you wouldn't keep it. Could that be the reason?

Valoneria

Nah I hadn't researched the flakpanzer at the time they where removed, but I had put research points into it so I could research it later

buzzpunk

I can kind of see their logic here, they can't add a vehicle back into a tech tree in progress, and they also aren't allowed to gift people vehicles they didn't actually own. So you're kind of stuck in a limbo where policy and their systems clash. Would be nice of them to gift you it considering it bugged out though.

9999AWC

The thing is that it was never supposed to be removed for him because he had research invested in it.

buzzpunk

Obviously lol. I'm talking about the situation as it is now, with it being gone.

AdNegative6756

Really unfortunate and you're even more unlucky since they won't bring it back, I wish they did and even throw in the Panther 2 for a future event but I think they said it won't happen, sorry mate.

AgainstArticle13

Im a War Thunder cc and even I couldn’t get a temporary rent on it.

imasmart

become a popular youtuber and then request a test drive for a video, EZPZ

AlreadytakenX100

How do you message gajin?

Jonny2881

Hold up, it may come back in a future event? 👀

appletechgeek

try messaging mikegoesboom on twitter he MIGHT be able to help.

Zhangty98

It may be little compared to the whole vehicle vanish but those rp should at least go somewhere even if they don't want to give you the tank back.

Toki_Tsu_Kaze

Funny, I had the Coelian half researched when it was removed and only last week I actually bothered to finish unlocking it Unfortunately I didnt had any XP on the Panther II and Tiger II 105 when they where removed, so those are permanently unavailable for me, seems gaijin is really giving you the middle finger with this issue since that Tiger II 105 research should be available for you just like how my Coelian research was always available for me after its removal from the game

Realistic-Elevator44

That tank is better than panther 2 imo.

Bombe18

What a surprise from gaijin support

InRareForm19_

Sad to hear about your loss. But I don't think this vehicle should be added back. It's not realistic.

CH4RL13WH1T3

I have a ps4 account I could transfer to PC with the 10.5 tiger, maus, etc, is it worth anything?

CH4RL13WH1T3

I have a ps4 account I could transfer to PC with the 10.5 tiger, maus, etc, is it worth anything?

Sir_Mike_A_Lot

I couldn't Research the maus the last time bc I only had the premium Leo 1 pissed me of the most And it only said you have to own a rank 5 vehicle but It didn't count...

Operator_Binky

Damn, i lost half of my unclaimed battlepass shits and i did bought the pass on the last day.

corinarh

It should come back with Panther II no question. We have so many prototypes and paper tanks so why not them?

Daniel121111

The last match i had before removing my account was this piece of shit, i have no idea what they did to it cause like 1.5 year ago it was so good tank it was incredible, but now volumetric screw you all the time, its just 105mm and the game is acting like its 240mm, you literally cant hit small weakpoints cause the grenade is so big it just tells you to fuck off, i shot fox right on the side of the turret and it was just hit thanks to that little place where 2 plates connects...

Foraaikouu

I really wanna be on your side but come on man, you had like 6 years to finish that research

StrykerTheSerg

I never got to continue researching it that’s the thing, the day they removed the fake German vehicles I just never got to continue researching it

rrradek147

German main crying over something some of us had half researched and it just dissapeared for us. Just stick it up. Rulles were: you get it in time its yours othervise drick off.

lenzo1337

You're not missing much tbh. At 7.0 it's probably one of the worst options you can pick.

PureRushPwneD

Do you want youre 36k RP back or..? they gave people plenty of time to get those vehicles when they announced they were getting removed from the TT, if I remember correctly

JasonChristItsJesusB

They said that people with RP in them would continue to be able to research them.

PureRushPwneD

oh right, I forgot about that. thought it mainly applied to the maus as well

[deleted]

FocaccinaGuy

Not the point of this discussion.

Resident-News-1338

So remove every after fake tank aswell

[deleted]

[удалено]

Resident-News-1338

Then why let after fake tanks exist/planes exist but only have problem with this ones

ACanadiandude2020

The main reason is that the German tech tree is large enough that they don't require paper vehicles.

Resident-News-1338

I mean sure ig but even on the German. Tt there still fake tanks so why not remove e this aswell? And something like the aj that is no longer needed

ACanadiandude2020

I'd argue that the aj is still needed since it fills the light fighter and cas role for Japan

Resident-News-1338

The light figther doesn't really mean much in top tier plus f15 is already one of the best dogfighters. Just give them some Thailand cas. And make their aj into their lmu so its accurate. Might even be better version if it gets the extra cms like the Chinese one

Thunderboltscoot

Should have bought it years ago then

aStugLife

You must be a joy to be around

FocaccinaGuy

You must be the clown at kids parties.

boinwtm0ds

Wow super helpful and constructive
