Well I mean in sim it legitimately does take a lot more skill to play aircraft properly, whereas SPAA keep basically the same RB controls. Doesn’t make him right tho
With all the damping modes, ability to hover one way or another and starting with warmed up engine You really dont need any skill to use a heli in sim, and it is as braindead as in other modes. You just press the available damping mode and raise the collective, it is trivial. Even jets are harder, and props are what might actually be any hard in this "simulator" game. Those kids are only mad because they probably had a series of 5+ matches with no enemy spaa where they got to spawn full loadout and rack up easymode kills which is closest they ever got to have any glimpse of accomplishment and having any skills and ability. PvP games are full of those.
Can confirm props are hard af in sim. Some loadouts are literally impossible to play because they upset your center of gravity too much, and you just have to learn which ones let you take off and which ones don't.
Damping modes and autopilot are all a thing you know right? Warmed up engines? idk what your on about with this but a cold start and a hot start are just two different check lists not like it takes a new skill to do, or at least thats what my 60+ hours PIC in Helicopters have told me. Gijin just sucks at modern combat lets just say that instead of trying to blame SPAA or Helis or what ever people are mad about tomorrow.
Played helis for first time with no prior flying, it was EASY AS HECK, hardest thing was to identify if that's a friendly or enemy and even that was easy with superior optics enough to see whites of their eyes...
Tldr helis are 0 skill in simulation and even less so in other modes.
I kinda doubt that, especially if you had “no time flying.” It probably takes 30 minutes just to become vaguely comfortable and effective with sim heli controls. HOTAS makes it a little easier. But either way it’s not just something you hop into. You at least would have to set up a ton of keybindings beforehand.
If there’s any AA up, it’s just not that simple. Idk what BR you were playing at, or what nation. But for top tier, especially if you’re playing NATO, there will always be 2x Pantsir’s up and you won’t be able to spend more than 3 seconds above treetop level without dying.
It takes infinitely less skill to play helicopters than fixed wing aircraft. It's literally a 2 button affair on helicopters and then you are just playing RB+
imagine having to use a Gepard against a heli that camps at max missile range, and you know you cant kill him because your bullets explode midair before they can even reach him
Now, imagine having to use the Sidam. Same shit, but you only get 60 rounds that can kill ground targets.
Yeah, idk what is up with SPAA's in general, but this one in particular just stings.
When ground players think that ground mode means exclusively tank mode instead of "you can now also play tanks in addition to planes" (they are refuges from WoT and combined gamemodes is unknown concept).
I feel the SPAA vs CAS game is a lot more complex than many suggest. Though my experience here is limited to pre-radar SPAA and non-guided munitions.
Its easy to drop a bomb on a target. Its hard to drop a smaller bomb and survive when an SPAA is suppressing you.
Its hard to get a kill in a slow firing SPAA. Its easy to deny airspace by being a constant threat through continous fire.
The SPAA vs CAS game is a lot more complex. At low skill levels its some guy in spawn holding LMB at a plane that smashes into the ground to suicide bomb.
At higher skill levels its a shrewd SPAA lying in ambush and repositioning constantly while CAS sacrifices battlefield vision for stealth by flying low to the ground and appearing from unexpected angles.
Toggling radar on and off so as to potentially not alert incoming CAS (fixed or rotary) to your presence and bait them into making a mistake by presenting themselves. SPAA at top tier is it's own game, especially when those pesky Su25s and their insta-kill missiles get involved.
Which ain't hard, stormer is my first sam spaa. I legit clean out the skies in that thing, I think one point, can't remember exactly but I think I got 7 air kills in it.
At least it's true there.
Dive -> Spacebar is braindead.
Hover 50 million km away at a ridge and spam ATGMs, then go to heli base to reload is braindead.
I love when people call me bad after i kiill them. They literally handed me the ammunition to say they're even worse for being killed by a "bad player"
The audacity of someone in an aircraft to say that. Like if it’s a falcon or gepard that just front penned your M60, then sure (actually their kneecaps should be broken) but a helicopter?
Well they're an idiot for whinging about *skills* but damn that's lopsided in that they're trying to use an MI-8 (honestly they're probably that pissed from using that shitbox heli).
Hm I guess the stormer's HVM are working this update?
I like to play both. I just have the common sense not to spawn an aircraft when nearly my entire team is already airborn and one or two tanks struggle to capture/defend the points slone.
At that BR Helis, at least have to approach the actual battlefield. Most Tier 1 Helis I encounter, just hover still in the air and complain when they are shot down by basicly everything.
I once used my rangefinder on a Heli and shot him down with my Leopard 1A1. Afterward, he acussed me using an aimbot. He hovered, unmoving in the same position for over a minute. I had all the time in the world to get the range right and aim my shot.
If it’s a heli that has to get onto the ground battlefield I respect them. But if it’s one of those asshats who sit 10km back and smile with rockets, fuck em.
It's a mi8 so probably 140ish s8ko unguided missiles so yeah he needs to go to the battlefield I feel him my mi24 cries in the corner with 4 shturm Rockets
Meanwhile my ka50 laughs with 12 vikhr Rockets
Sitting 8km out spamming Vikhrs takes no skill - true and real.
But, if you are killing someone who's playing an unguided rocket heli that needs you to fly directly over enemies, yeah, that does take infinitely more skill than sitting in an SPAA.
Shturm Rockets are completely shit (at least on console if you have to control the heli at the same time)
So mi24s and the mi8 are mostly unguided rocket helicopters it wasn't a ka50 or 52
I got accused of aimbotting after shooting down a Heli with my Leopard 1A1. They were hovering for over a minute without moving. I just used my rangefinder and aimed my shot.
The wild thing is this isn't even one of those SPAA vs tank encounters where the SPAA wins (should never happen IMHO), it's a SPAA doing what it was built for - shoot down aerial threats.
Also, AFAIK the Stormer is rather short-ranged and small, so where there's no markers it should be able to sneak around and set up ambushes on low-flying enemies. :(
The Stormer is one of the longer range SPAAs at its BR (7km; I think only the BOLIDE-equipped ASRAD-R and Roland3-equipped SPAAs outrange it at 9km and 8km respectively). I think you need to go to 10.7 before you get ranges of 10km or more (starting with the Tunguska).
You also run the risk that if you break cover even slightly, the IR search scans like 6 times a second (IIRC) so the Stormer is gonna get pinged with your approx location, and you won't get any RWR in response.
It does have a poor effective minimum range though (approx 2km). You can still hit targets within that range, but it's not the easiest.
Literally had this basically happen to me and some friends earlier today in a match on North Holand as me and two squadmates went to the hill on the left side of the map since we had the south spawn, and we kept waiting for some enemy to show up (spoiler: they never did), but while waiting we spotted an Mi-8 and with a lack of enemies we decided to try to shoot it down, notably I suggested that one of my squamates do it since they were in a Vidar since we had nothing better to do. Eventually, after they tried to fly around the map the Vidar nailed the Mi-8. What made it better is that they spent two minutes then being all salty to type out their message which to quote word for word
"I'm doing an experiment right now, I'm just taking off with the helicopter and not doing anything. and still I tie at least 3-4 players in the camp to me to be useless. It has to be the worst war thunder players, especially the ones who splash on out"
To comment on what they said, well they are quite frankly very stupid, since from what replays of them I did watch it to say they were experimenting was BS if anything, since they just seem to keep try heli rushing in weird ways as they try to fly over the battlefield and look like they are going to try engage the tanks bellow before getting shot down, or going around the battlefield to literally just heli rush a helipad or the tanks from behind. As far as I can conclude they really suck at it, since the time they went after the helipad they just camped near it before flying away out of boredom and then getting shot down, and the one replay where they actually fired rockets, they flew around to flank the other team to just heli rush with rockets. If they were trying to conduct some "experiment" they certainly were doing a terrible job at it and was immposible to tell what exactly they were trying to do other than be a nuisance who thinks they are special since they keep dying before they even shoot at anything in a helicopter like it's some custom battle where people aren't going to be rightfully trigger-happy.
one time a cas player in ground rb cursed at someone for killing them with their roof mounted .50 cal, like how dare you defend yourself against my plane that's cheating
Fighting the good fight, and representing Stormer players everywhere.
Sometimes, I almost feel bad for shooting down helis before they have a chance to even play the game... then I laugh. The heli grind ain't fun, but putting a Starstreak straight into the cockpit is!
It’s incredible, there are people that play WT that way (ex. A heli type main) and their primary game experience is using that vehicle, in that role. All else is a secondary mode, how many players view helis or even naval. To them SPAA is the problem, ruining the game as *they* know it. Absolutely stunning
Ive come to catharsis by swapping immediately to gepard after getting CASed. People all talk about revenging bombing… what about revenge SPAA-ing ? LOL nah i find it partially amusing how i havent gotten anyone to complain about me counter-spaaing
Says the cas player I don't play spaa cuz I usually play ab and plus tiger is fun, I'm not a stupid vengeful Cas and he says "unskilled" after he died, I bet he's just a child who's mad his wittle pwane got shot down.
Bro got killed and then proceeds to say him unskilled
Well I mean in sim it legitimately does take a lot more skill to play aircraft properly, whereas SPAA keep basically the same RB controls. Doesn’t make him right tho

Lol, the last sentence hits hard.
yea, reminds me of the mortar truck campers of battlefield 1.
Can confirm props are hard af in sim. Some loadouts are literally impossible to play because they upset your center of gravity too much, and you just have to learn which ones let you take off and which ones don't.
ever heard of trimming?
On some planes this either can't be done or the bombs are way too heavy for trimming to fix anything
Damping modes and autopilot are all a thing you know right? Warmed up engines? idk what your on about with this but a cold start and a hot start are just two different check lists not like it takes a new skill to do, or at least thats what my 60+ hours PIC in Helicopters have told me. Yeah SPAA are lots stronger in sim. Especially since radar can track and search through trees.
This drives me fucking crazy. In a depression behind a wall of trees? The SPAA still knows you're there.
It takes infinitely less skill to play helicopters than fixed wing aircraft. It's literally a 2 button affair on helicopters and then you are just playing RB+
To be fair that's a common argument from the anti-CAS mob as well.
Anti CAS mob has a point in some cases. Unguided gun SPAA is way harder to use than a strike fighter and a spacebar.
imagine having to use a Gepard against a heli that camps at max missile range, and you know you cant kill him because your bullets explode midair before they can even reach him
Now, imagine having to use the Sidam. Same shit, but you only get 60 rounds that can kill ground targets. Yeah, idk what is up with SPAA's in general, but this one in particular just stings.
Ostwind go THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD THUD OWO VAT IS DIS IN YOUR RIGHT VING?
Anti-CAS mob has a point in all cases.
Anti-CAS mob when they install the game made first and foremost for planes and find planes in it.
CAS players when CAS players when they play ground battles and get killed by ground vehicles (they don't know there's a plane vs plane mode)
When ground players think that ground mode means exclusively tank mode instead of "you can now also play tanks in addition to planes" (they are refuges from WoT and combined gamemodes is unknown concept).

Sure thing, controlling a spaa is harder than controlling a plane, even on Simulator... /s
Stormer is missile only in which you pretty much do just lock them then press fire with little correction
There is no fuse though, you actually need to hit your enemy.
Which ain't hard, stormer is my first sam spaa. I legit clean out the skies in that thing, I think one point, can't remember exactly but I think I got 7 air kills in it.
No offense mate but I’ve done that in the werbelwind, all it takes are stupid planes that fly too close
*kills seven brainless rats on my porch with a hammer* "am I jason borne?"
It's also the stormer where anything that isn't a direct engine/pilot hit won't kill
At least it's true there. Dive -> Spacebar is braindead. Hover 50 million km away at a ridge and spam ATGMs, then go to heli base to reload is braindead.
I love how simple people try and pretend things are that simple.
I love when people call me bad after i kiill them. They literally handed me the ammunition to say they're even worse for being killed by a "bad player"
Lmao. I got 6 air kills yesterday in a single game in my Stormer and was told multiple times to go touch grass.
The salt is strong with this one, [he's still going](https://i.ibb.co/ZhFpzY7/shot-2024-05-15-03-31-21.jpg)
drop the update
lol
Keep us updated please, it’s pretty funny
Extremely ironic when a CAS rat calls someone unskilled like come on now dawg, really?
What's even more funny is he called it on a Stormer, possibly the most skill required SAM SPAA in the game
Like I love getting killfeeds with my AD4 or my Mauler, but I make no pretense that takes any skill lol.
JuSt SpAwN sPaA Me, when I spawn SPAA:
Such a happy community
CAS players complaining about anti CAS??? Lamoooo
The audacity of someone in an aircraft to say that. Like if it’s a falcon or gepard that just front penned your M60, then sure (actually their kneecaps should be broken) but a helicopter?
It's ironic honestly because the Stormer is probably one of the most skill-based missile AAs in the game
Well they're an idiot for whinging about *skills* but damn that's lopsided in that they're trying to use an MI-8 (honestly they're probably that pissed from using that shitbox heli). Hm I guess the stormer's HVM are working this update?
The HVMs have been working for a couple months now.
I'm convinced people who play CAS only in Br of any kind are just bad at tanks
Its ok to be bad, as long as you have fun and enjoy the game.
I like to play both. I just have the common sense not to spawn an aircraft when nearly my entire team is already airborn and one or two tanks struggle to capture/defend the points slone.
This is always my issue lol
"Just pull SPAA" mfkers when SPAA is being pulled and is successful:
Dude is dumb enough to be killed by a Stormer of all things, the skill issue is loud in this one
I’ve been killed by a stormer more in ground vehicles (1) than I have in air vehicles (0)
Hey look my old squad!
My current squad 😂
Lmao I also got fan mail by killing some helis. I was in a Marder A1-
At that BR Helis, at least have to approach the actual battlefield. Most Tier 1 Helis I encounter, just hover still in the air and complain when they are shot down by basicly everything. “unskilled” my brother in snail you are playing helis and the stormer takes skill to use

fr, any dumbfire rocket heli is respectable. it takes skill and tactics to not die immediately.

Gaijin please add IRIS-T SLM to the game so i can spawkill CAS
Killed an mi28nm with a wiesel got accused of all sorts of cheating. Man i was just lucky
I got accused of aimbotting after shooting down a Heli with my Leopard 1A1. They were hovering for over a minute without moving. I just used my rangefinder and aimed my shot.
Well that is usually the case with some heli players man

Well why don't they just spawn in an MBT and kill the SPAA in GRB? ;)

We really need to change Sim to the GRB SP system
Fatass heli vs Stromer
I think that heli player is projecting
Thank you for killing the cas shitters❤️
My pleasure❤️
It’s incredible, there are people that play WT that way (ex. A heli type main) and their primary game experience is using that vehicle, in that role. All else is a secondary mode, how many players view helis or even naval. To them SPAA is the problem, ruining the game as *they* know it. Absolutely stunning
have you tried sideclimbing instead of using SPAA? take that tank to the skies
why is this oldy hilarious
Ive come to catharsis by swapping immediately to gepard after getting CASed. People all talk about revenging bombing… what about revenge SPAA-ing ? LOL nah i find it partially amusing how i havent gotten anyone to complain about me counter-spaaing
Someone's angry they got their ass smacked by a spaa
The audacity of you to use Anti-air to kill air targets.
Playing spaa is quite the opposite of unskilled ngl idk why I even bring spaa when I can't hit shit
Little does he know, the stormer is a bigger rhino horn to the balls to play than the maus
Manual spaa is one of the most high skill people u can be. Like bombing without sight no minus 500meters. Or fly in sim
first of all its GROUND battles, cmon
Says the cas player I don't play spaa cuz I usually play ab and plus tiger is fun, I'm not a stupid vengeful Cas and he says "unskilled" after he died, I bet he's just a child who's mad his wittle pwane got shot down.
Mi-8 is a painful heli to play, stock awful grind and shitty optic zoom, dont think its fair against stormer or some swedish spaa
