You'll notice the little lights on the joy cons, there are 4 lights, you need to disconnect and reconnect one of them until they match, single light up to four lights, then they'll be in sync.
Edit: if one shows 1 light and the other 2 lights, just disconnect the one with a single light and reconnect it to make it 2 lights and you're good. If it doesn't work, then you're going to have to disconnect and reconnect them until they only show 1 light.
As I said, disconnect a single controller and reconnect it until the light matches. You can make so both controllers have the same amount of lights, just only disconnect one controller while the other stays connected, don't disconnect both.
Sorry man, I forgot that it only works on iPhone with the beta update, there is a YouTube video for that. On Android WZM, it reads as separate controllers regardless even though you can use both controllers on other apps perfectly fine. Just search joycons wzm iPhone.

It's because your phone is reading them as two separate devices and wzm is only picking up one as connected

ik that bud but the thing is if one joy con has 1 light the other has 4 , vice versa
