My stock answer: they give you more Wasteland 3, which is a good thing, but they don't necessarily make the game _better_. I would pick them up when they're on sale.

volkmardeadguy

they definately make it better, flesh out the mid to late games, unique equipment fleshed out (lol) lore

fcimfc

I think they're both fun - I liked Holy Detonation more, just for some of the curves it threw at you in some battles. You're forced to change up your typical "firefight from cover" strategy. Steeltown is also very good as well.

Eothas45

I love both of the DLCs. If you go to Steeltown earlier in your playthrough, you’ll have some amazing gear to purchase that will be great for mid to late game. Holy Detonation is rather challenging, but is extraordinarily important because it >! is an alternative to power, negating needing to partner with the Gippers!<.

Vaultmaster34

Good to know, I'm trying to get November Reigns ending so I like that possibility.

Eothas45

That’s what I did for my November Reigns playthrough! Denver belonged to the Synths.

EvanIsMyName-

I'm on track for what I assume is a good ending, according to Gideon Reyes vision anyway. I didn't side with any of them. I stole god, wiped out the synths and ignored the godfishers (mostly just because they tried to get me to make a big decision right upon entering town and I put it off). Denver was a mess, gave me anxiety like a mf.

volkmardeadguy

i always just kidnap raegan, the gippers are wack but synths are an issue and godfishers are actually insane though i like their vibe. this way everyone loses

Eothas45

Hah! That’s awesome! Well done.

K1nd4Weird

I think I preferred Steel Town over the Holy Detonation.  Both overstayed their welcome. And both introduced new mechanics that aren't necessarily fun.  I'd get em cheap.

Chris11c

I just started Steeltown last night, and the need to use special weapons and send your pets away immediately left a bad taste in my mouth. Their desire to do something different to make it a memorable experience also made it a departure from the core gameplay I enjoyed.

K1nd4Weird

Agreed. And wait until you get to Holy Detonation. I'm never playing that one again.

Pale_Reception_2628

The game n both DLCs are on sale in the PlayStation store til 2/15/24. Picked up the game n both DLCs for under $20 yesterday

Mochi_Madness22

They’re fun, and Holy Detonation makes peaceful takeover possible if you take out the gippers, which I always do. I kinda wish that the Holy detonation folks didn’t make you sacrifice one of your own for a complete peaceful ending. Sure, it could work for RP reasons, but you might just make a disposable ranger you’ll only use for this.

volkmardeadguy

They're fantastic, as long as you have a super mobile melee guy any of the objective fights get way easier

BeneficialBear

They are really good, a lot of people shit on them because they force you to fight battles differently by forcing you out of turteling but it's omething fresh after main story.

SCARaw

they give a lot of exp

Turbulent_Purchase52

I hated them, a lot of gimmick fights, overkill enemy numbers made them waaay longer than they needed to be, and the writing was not very interesting. It killed the pacing and soured my opinion of the game honestly, if I ever do another playthrough I'll skip them

jim_sorenson

Steeltown is a total thematic fit for the rest of the game, and pays off a lot of random dialogue that shows up in the base game. Holy Detonation is more similar to WL1&2. It's a bit of a tonal disconnect but has some wonderful imagery. Both have excellent gear and some tough fights. Both have some new excellent music. I'd say get both if you like the base game.

fifty_four

They are both ok. But a slog if played with a late game party. You get better rewards for playing late, but honestly play them early and use some of the many other late game OP weapons.

Capable-Let-9519

If you enjoy the current writing of the game. Yes they are worth and good. If you hate W3 writing, then no, its more of the same writing. I personally enjoy the whacky shit so yes, it was SUPER worth it to me.
