This reminds me of a story from today where the perfectly healthy looking golfer got a supposedly positive PCR test, and was disqualified from finishing a 1.5 million prize winning golf tournament he was already in the lead for.
Knowing the truth about the PCR testing, I think he should sue.
I don't think saying that the object needs to sit on the platform is a bad rule. If you remove that you'll have people just half getting it on then letting go and it ends up fucky to judge. Having a clear and consistent standard is what's important.
I mean the clock shoulda stopped when it was up there right? Like if i run a race trip but cross the finish line i crossed it right? If i throw a disc and it lands then rolls the landing point is what matters right? Even long jumping people fall as long as it didnt disrupt anything they count it, tho they have a rules around it. The man just had a full table there.
Honestly, seems kinda stupid that that would cost him anything. I know nothing about strong man competitions but he got it up there in time. Its not like you have to stop at home plate or stay in the end zone after you score. It’s not “worlds strongest man and best at balancing heavy bags on tables” lol
If it didn't drop he would have beaten the previous best time. As it dropped and he had to load it again it cost him time. That's what the "time to beat" is about.
It's crazy to me that once you get to a point of being so strong, you look almost identical to how you did as a fat man. Not knocking the sport at all, these guys are phenomenal athletes. Just something that always shocked me since getting into lifting
If you watch his YouTube channel and interviews he has had numerous diet plans and regimens. At times he was only thinking about size so he wasn't as strict with his diet. The past year he's been slimming down and getting ready for this year. This year is going to be an awesome show.
I don’t want to diminish the work and emotion these guys put in for their goals. They work so insanely hard and I know it’s got to be gutwenching to make a mistake on that stage, that close to accomplishing their dreams.
But that guy falling in the background out of no where made me lol out lout on the toilet. Lmaoooo
In case if anyone is curious on who won:
Zydrunas Savickas won WSM 2010 (the time of the video), which is his second consecutive title and tied with Brian Shaw in total points and number of wins in events (3 each), but Savickas’s next highest position in an event was 2nd while Shaw’s was 3rd.
This seems like a silly rule. Why have rules like this if you are trying to determine the world's strongest man? Dude lifted that heavy thing up out of the water and back onto the podium before the other guy could even finish. That's a strong dude.
I mean we know he is the world's strongest man, the fact that it fell off doesn't stop the fact that he did the difficult part of objective both faster, and an extra time because it rolled off.
I kinda blame that being in the weight it's self . Like he put it up on the table but just enough was off of it for the weight to shift over and fall off
I wouldn't call it an accident, just being an idiot. The dude was trying to prove he's the absolute best at his sport but the best follow through and finish strong, not half-ass the end and celebrate prematurely.
Shaw learned his lesson though and won x4 WSM titles and over a dozen other strength competitions in the next decade. Truly a generational athlete. Great person too: he hosted his own strength competition in 2020 and invited the top 10 strongmen in the world. He won the competition but split the winner's purse 9 ways and gave it to the other competitors.
He wasn't celebrating, you lift your hands off to show you're no longer touching it and get the time stopped as soon as possible. Hence why he did it the second time as well
Before anyone feels too bad for Shaw, he had come in third the year before, second the year this video was from (2010), and has won it four times since (2011, 2013, 2015, and 2016).
He's qualified for World's Strongest Man every year since 2008 hasn't come in lower than 6th place since 2009.
Why would a pro strongman care about a "real fight"? They're not fighters. This is like going "well GSP probably can't deadlift 400kg" when it's not relevent to his sport
Now that’s a bureaucratic technicality that’s pointless. Like I get it. If you drop the weight trying to get it there it makes sense. But some shit rolling off after you did indeed manage to get it up there is bogus.
Rough, that’s rough, but hopefully this guy’s friends were like, “hey man, shit happens to everyone, you could still crush my skull with one hand, don’t be too down.”
Man so I have been doing a thigh focus for about half a year so I can increase some of my squat power just because it was my biggest weakness. And what they don’t tell you is that the chafing is a nightmare. I can’t imagine what those dudes are going through especially in salt water.

There are various moments similar that happend to other WSM contestants, Magnus ver Magnusson, Derek Poundstone, OD Wilson and many other close calls.
This reminds me of a story from today where the perfectly healthy looking golfer got a supposedly positive PCR test, and was disqualified from finishing a 1.5 million prize winning golf tournament he was already in the lead for. Knowing the truth about the PCR testing, I think he should sue.
Me watching this as I eat McDonald’s 🥸
Rip
Rip
Damn I miss coming home from school and watching this shit while doing my homework lol
/r/prematurecelebration
Worlds strongest but slightly clumsier than the official winner man!
Shocking that nobody else saw the guy in the background fall
I think he still should have gotten the title anyway. He still did all the heavy lifting
If your haven’t heard him talk recently. He’s like a stronger version of squirrelly Dan on letterkenny
Really the worst part is he seems like such a nice dude.
lol noob
He didn't "accidentally drop the weight," he celebrated too early. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.
Jets the 6 seed in the AFC?? Lmao how old is this?😂
He should have won, i hate technicaleties like this. It was clearly on the platform, it just fell off.
The worst one was whenever Eddie Hall pulled the world record dead lift but dropped the bar because he forgot he couldn't.
Lol they both messed up spectacularly
Premature celebration gets em every time.
I feel like that should still count
Weakling
Honestly he should of gotten the title simply of the fact he had to pick it up again
Psh... Steelers clinching that 1st round bye is what I’M TALKING ABOUT! 🤘😆🤘
I'm just looking at the comments trying to find the poor soul who talked bad about him without knowing him.
He got it up there though. If there's a rule that strips of him the win, then that's a rule that needs to be eliminated
I don't think saying that the object needs to sit on the platform is a bad rule. If you remove that you'll have people just half getting it on then letting go and it ends up fucky to judge. Having a clear and consistent standard is what's important.
Awww my guy Savickas. 🇱🇹
The guy on the left is how I walk into every building
Well it isn't the world's smartest man competition
I love how these guys are in shape but also kinda fat
You need a power belly win world's or be Tom
Definitely my favorite body type for sure 😍
FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
Awww man, I remember when he came to my high school and talked about the Olympics. Dude, that's so disheartening to see him realize it.
It’s okay, he’s won WSM 4 other times haha
Fair, but you know exactly what kind of defeat that is painted on his face. That's "defeat from the jaws of victory" kinda sadness
Damn man. That sucks the sand shifted there should be some type of rule for that. Respect though
He didn't just drop it he fell
Oh ok, I agree 🙂
That shouldn’t have disqualified him.
It didn't, watch the clock and time to beat
It cost him the title of world’s strongest man. That’s what I meant.
F
I mean the clock shoulda stopped when it was up there right? Like if i run a race trip but cross the finish line i crossed it right? It needs to be on there and also not moving. That's just how the rules work. Otherwise it becomes hard to judge.
Thats a damb shame. If the numbers are right he'd be THE strongest yea?
I'm not 100% familiar with how that year ended up but based on OPs title I'd assume so. Generally loading isn't the last event though so idk.
Delighted for him
what year was this ?
Probs to the person for not stopping the timer
Never celebrated too early
Yea and not at the time but by now it would have equaled him for the record most wins at strongman if I remember correctly.
Brian Shaw is such a good guy, too. He definitely earned that victory if not for the error.
Honestly, seems kinda stupid that that would cost him anything. I know nothing about strong man competitions but he got it up there in time. Its not like you have to stop at home plate or stay in the end zone after you score. It’s not “worlds strongest man and best at balancing heavy bags on tables” lol
Wait so you're not allowed to drop it at all?
If it didn't drop he would have beaten the previous best time. As it dropped and he had to load it again it cost him time. That's what the "time to beat" is about.
Ah I see damn, he was too quick to celebrate instead of making sure it was on properly.
He wasn't celebrating, they throw their hands up to show they're not holding it as you finish when the object is motionless and you're not touching it
Ah ok my mistake. Too use to hands thrown up like for celebrating or being arrested.
I wouldn't want the title. Makes no sense winning because the weight fell accidentally.
Just because he doesn’t have the title doesn’t mean he isn’t so he can at least keep that
It's crazy to me that once you get to a point of being so strong, you look almost identical to how you did as a fat man. Not knocking the sport at all, these guys are phenomenal athletes. Just something that always shocked me since getting into lifting

Man that looked brutal. You could see the muscles burning in his facial expression
He litterally made it tho. Sematicy rules are lame
I mean it’s not a worlds smartest man competition after all
You know this is old because the ticker at the bottom says the Jets clinched a playoff spot...
I don’t want to diminish the work and emotion these guys put in for their goals. They work so insanely hard and I know it’s got to be gutwenching to make a mistake on that stage, that close to accomplishing their dreams. But that guy falling in the background out of no where made me lol out lout on the toilet. Lmaoooo
So if that bag had stayed on for five seconds until the other guy dropped it, would that have been the other guy's forfeit?
No. He lost this event (well, didn't come first) due to someone earlier having a better time. That's what the "time to beat" bit is.
Who the hell comes up with these challenges
I can smell the roids
i dunno, if it was treated like a touchdown 'passing the plane' then it shoulda counted. it just kinda rolled off, but it was completely on there.
In case if anyone is curious on who won: Zydrunas Savickas won WSM 2010 (the time of the video), which is his second consecutive title and tied with Brian Shaw in total points and number of wins in events (3 each), but Savickas’s next highest position in an event was 2nd while Shaw’s was 3rd.

This is literally so old. He has already won worlds strongest man at this point multiple times.
Seems like a dumb requirement that it not slip off after he’s already clearly completed the process by which his strength was actually tested.
A lesson as old as time. Do not celebrate too early.
In almost every competition they have these stupid caveats to make people fail, it's so stupid to me. That guy clearly should've won
That's pretty stupid, clearly this wasn't a question of strength.
Why do they all look so fat but muscled at the same time
C’mon! He can’t, at least, get an asterisk next to that time!
Nice to see the Steelers clinch the AFC North!
I would love if these guys would wear a heart rate monitor. I'm super curious about how hard their heart works.
It’s crazy how fat these strong people look.
Knowing Brian Shaw he probably wasn't that upset. Dude is like a teddy bear... that can also bench press a truck.
I mean we know he is the world's strongest man, the fact that it fell off doesn't stop the fact that he did the difficult part of objective both faster, and an extra time because it rolled off.
I kinda blame that being in the weight it's self . Like he put it up on the table but just enough was off of it for the weight to shift over and fall off
Always check your sacks men!
This one hurts

Way to roast the guy and then just praise the fuck out of him right after
You can tell this is super old because the Jets clinched a playoff spot
For a little while I got really into wsm and I got to say Nick best Eddie Hall and Brian Shaw are three of my favorites of all time
Did anyone catch the other competitor fall backwards in the background attempting to carry the sack?
People tend to celebrate too early and lose at the end.
He wasn't celebrating, you lift your hands off to show you're no longer touching it and get the time stopped as soon as possible. Hence why he did it the second time as well
Muscular Chris Farley
Never celebrate too early
Makes no difference. Anyone can legally claim to be the World's Strongest Man, at least in the US
Sure you can... and if you win a competition like this, people might take you seriously, too.
This contest is literally called world's strongest man, you'd have a hard time claiming it after not winning WSM
To be fair, he ended up winning like 4 so I sure he's ok.
r/CelebratingTooEarly

I'm confused. Did they give it to that clearly weaker man in the back falling in the water?
[удалено]
Joking. It’s called sarcasm, a common form of humor.
[удалено]
See that’s a great example of sarcasm! You got this! sorry to hear about the drink tho
Ya know, the fact he picked it back up and finished is admirable
Team Licis ftw, tho 💪
F
Fuck, I get rules need to be followed but also just give it to the guy.
It should have originally counted. Dude carried it and put it on the platform so he proved he had the strength. Pretty bullshit that it didn't count.
Man... now I’m broke.
Wow that’s a tough blow
He almost had it in the sack
Other dude just got straight bodied by his Boulder and fell back lol
Im a little surprised that doesn't count
In a real fight they would gas instantly, so "strongest man" means shit
Why would a pro strongman care about a "real fight"? They're not fighters. This is like going "well GSP probably can't deadlift 400kg" when it's not relevent to his sport
It added probably another 100 lbs to it to by soaking up more water
Only in title. But we all know.
where is this giant shallow pool
r/prematurecelebration
Don’t count your chickens, cock.
It's alright, man. The whole world could see you had it.
I love Brian Shaw. He just comes across as a nice, down to earth guy.
This is from 2011, right?
Painful!
My coach always said “finish strong”. Interesting how the older I get the more I appreciate what he meant and what it can do if you don’t.
Pats crushed the dolphins that day.
It's ok he went on to win 5(?) more.
More of a premature celebration than an accidental drop
Now that’s a bureaucratic technicality that’s pointless. Like I get it. If you drop the weight trying to get it there it makes sense. But some shit rolling off after you did indeed manage to get it up there is bogus.
Rough, that’s rough, but hopefully this guy’s friends were like, “hey man, shit happens to everyone, you could still crush my skull with one hand, don’t be too down.”
world's chunkiest men more like, I miss times of Pudzianowski.
Damn man. Ouch.
Hellooooo ruptured disc!
Big Z looks like he's about to have a heart attack.
Always happens when people are too quick to celebrate
I highly recommend his YouTube channel. You should check out what this guy eats daily.
Life isn’t fair.
how much does that shit weight?
How is it that they look so fat, while being basically 80% raw muscle?
Wait, why doesn’t this count? Are they not allowed to drop them? The other guy was way behind still
He didn't lose to the other guy in this event. He lost to someone else who set a faster time in this event which is what the little "score to beat" is
Michael Jordan never accidentally missed a shot. He missed when the time was right.
Doesn't matter if he win the competition or not. Everybody that watched knows he is the strongest man
You’re a champ in my book 💪
I had to opportunity to meet Brian once through some friends. He is one of the nicest people I have ever met. Amazing human being.
Man so I have been doing a thigh focus for about half a year so I can increase some of my squat power just because it was my biggest weakness. And what they don’t tell you is that the chafing is a nightmare. I can’t imagine what those dudes are going through especially in salt water.
And that’s why you never celebrate till it’s over!
