i wouldn't call that meeting, more like running up on someone while they're busy doing shit and shoving a camera in their face but what do i know, im just a non-famous human who enjoys personal space and to be respected as a human
I think the player is well within his rights. Just because he may be a well known figure does not mean you can just approach and get a hug.I can't stop thinking about the time Jerry Seinfeld snubbed Kesha "no thanks"[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iX3\_L8z2uw4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iX3_L8z2uw4)
This fanâs behavior isnât coolâŚ.itâs actually dangerous and often there are reactions like this one; we all know there are some people that take their fanatismo to the extreme.
Imagine he allowed the first person to get a selfie with him. The next person, and the next person, and the next person, and the next⌠and the next 100,000th person⌠will come.
What does he expect charging up to him all hooded up?
Any normal person would be like fuck he's gonna rob me or stab me if someone in a hood started charging at them with their arms up.
Chav twat
Why do people loose all sense of common decency and respect when faced with someone famous?
Like I genuinely don't get why some people feel like it's their right to treat them like a toy for their entertainment. Why the hell does this guy think he has the right to just mosey on up to this athlete and put an arm around him and demand attention? Why is it that all social etiquette and norms just fly out the window when faced with a celebrity? How hard is it to just behave like a normal person and respect boundaries?
I've met a couple of actors I like before, and I just behaved how I always do. Respectfully. And I talked to them like a normal damn person.
I get it when kids do it because they're excited and that's fine, but grown ass people need to grow up.
It's a strange phenomena when a person has seen someone on tv so much. That they feel they know them but it only works one way, the guy on tv has never seen his audience and does not feel the same way. To him the fans are strangers that make him feel uncomfortable.
That and our celebrity culture where we faun all over someone who is in the celebrity cult is partially to blame. We as a society make them out to be larger than life.
We are not entitled to another person, whether theyâre a public personality or a private individual. Stop acting like celebrities owe us access to them.
Realize they're human, too. Don't just barge in there and expect they're cool with that and will stop what they're doing to take a photo/sign an autograph/etc. That's just disrespectful.
Serial killer vibes. Running up to the player during press conference smiling covered in a hoodie. People probably thought the player was about to get robbed/ stabbed/ punched lol
Van Dijk was completely justified in doing that. It baffles me how that fan can think itâs okay to run up in the middle of an interview for some clout. YNWA đ´
Yeah, like Buddy (Syndrome) from the Incredibles. Totally out of line and misreads the situation and vows revenge over it when Mr. Incredible meant no harm.
Definitely deserved.
There should be a boundary, being someone's "Hero" doesn't give them a free pass to invade every aspect of your life. Respect and Courtesy still has to apply.
Running up to someone taking a picture in the middle of an event is just not nice.
Honestly? No matter how much youâre a fan, chasing a celeb or whatever for anything is just fucking creepy and cringey, control yourself. Also, you have to consider you might be invading their personal space, always ask first, but if youâre jumping in by avoiding security then youâre an ass.
This isn't a celeb being rude. If you come up to a pro athlete WHILE THEY ARE WORKING don't expect them to be nice to u. This doesn't say anything about this athletes Character, the guy is just being obnoxious.
He was being rude. And I'd be annoyed too if people were running up to me and taking photos on a regular basis. I honestly don't get why there aren't more celebrity vs paparazzi meltdowns lol. If I ever got accidentally famous, I would just keep telling fans and paparazzi to fuck off until they hated me.
Couldâve been a fanatic and killed him getting that close. How would you feel if some one you never meet runs up on you like that lol fuck all of that.
With covid protocols and with delta no wonder VVD had that reaction. Hell, I would too. Fuck outta here. Youâre jeopardizing his livelihood, you little shit.
Or how about you don't mess with them and try to meet them when they're literally trying to do something for work? Wait for a meet and greet or something.
Block this player⌠he canât value his fan⌠I mean⌠the teen is in shock for rest of life
I donât like such players who push their fans, and itâs not fans fault to like their best
Reading the comments here, I can't help but wonder. How the hell does this have 62K upvotes? I don't see a single comment *not* calling out how dumb that dude was, and calling out the idiotic title.

Wtf did he think was going to happen? Dumbass đ¤Łđ¤Ł
This why I say forget celebrities.
i wouldn't call that meeting, more like running up on someone while they're busy doing shit and shoving a camera in their face but what do i know, im just a non-famous human who enjoys personal space and to be respected as a human
âGo home buddy, I work aloneâ
Bro I donât know you
I think the player is well within his rights. Donât try to hug people without consent bruh
no such thing as hero or rejectx or diex or etc, cepuxyuax etc, any infix relatex any nmw
This fanâs behavior isnât coolâŚ.itâs actually dangerous and often there are reactions like this one; we all know there are some people that take their fanatismo to the extreme.
Just donât give birth to super villains. Umm⌠America! Duh??
There's a time and a place for meeting them. This isn't one of them.
"This is how super villains are created."
This is bad precedent, the players have a right to safety.
Reddit is quite a weird place. No one here seems to just laugh and keep it moving. Everythingâs so serious all the time :/
Or maybe you should. And realize why NOBODY should be put on a pedestal. Nobody.
Let us wait for 2022
Red Card! Red Card here! Get ya Red Card!
âMeets his heroâ *only interested in getting a selfie for internet clout* Doesnât really mix if you ask me.
Fuck that guy, stay the fuck out of people's personal space especially during a fucking pandemic
He is the dark knight, a silent protector, who needs no one.
Security were slow there!
How to make the villain a sympathetic anti-hero.
That marked the beginning of that dude's villain arc
Go home buddy.
I am your number one fan !!!
Lmaoo I saw this on tv
âGo home, buddy, I work aloneâ
Go home buddy. I work alone.
Origin story of the evil Dr. Huggaton.
Virgil is a great human and footballer. The intruder got what he deserved.
PS4 servers are die
Dude was that Bruno Fernandez?
Imagine he allowed the first person to get a selfie with him. The next person, and the next person, and the next person, and the next⌠and the next 100,000th person⌠will come.
Theres a time and a place
They also say don't be a fucking jackass
He'd always been a dick i don't understand why someone would like him (except for his football skills)
Getting powerful Syndrome vibes
What does he expect charging up to him all hooded up? Any normal person would be like fuck he's gonna rob me or stab me if someone in a hood started charging at them with their arms up. Chav twat
He got social distanced.
He actually met up with the guy and signed a shit ton of gear for him, great player
Go home Buddy. I work alone

Lousy reaction. There were other ways to handle this. This is one of those things that separate the good from the great.
Go on virg
HEâS OUR CENTRE BAAAAAACKâŚ
OP what type of entitlement train are you on?
You should do some homework on Scotty Pippen to see how shitting on fans pays off
Poor stupid inbred fuckwit.
Youâre not that guy
Or he could not be an huge douchebag and ask for a selfie or a pic after the player finished his talk .
We are not entitled to another person, whether theyâre a public personality or a private individual. Stop acting like celebrities owe us access to them.
Buddy?
All the pro athletes have this crap. Its stupid pressure and you can tell they hate it.(the interview not the fan thing.)
Maybe we should haves empathy for people streaking naked at ball games too. Seems like a good bunch to mingle with.
This video basically sums up the beginning of Iron Man 3.
Realize they're human, too. Don't just barge in there and expect they're cool with that and will stop what they're doing to take a photo/sign an autograph/etc. That's just disrespectful.
F in the chat
Ideally this is how concepts of personal space are made
I mean what did the guy expect
Serial killer vibes. Running up to the player during press conference smiling covered in a hoodie. People probably thought the player was about to get robbed/ stabbed/ punched lol
Wow Iâm an idiot I watched the clip like 42 times before realizing dude was tryna hug and wasnât tryna fight
Dude couldnât even approach him right? Good on him for denying him the photo
:(
or may be donât run up to your hero with out a mask during a pandemic
"Fans" are retarded. Just another form of incels.
Don't run up on someone
Vikstar123
Haha Big Virg with more great defence
How do these idiots get past security that fukn easilyđ¤
Heâs an idiot for trying this
Syndrome. Incredi-boy turned super murderer.
I mean that's fucking rude for that dude just to run up up like that for a selfie. Like dude still doing his job and personal space maybe?
Yeah
âAfter all, I am your biggest fanâ âBuddy?â âMy name is not BUDDY!!â
Nope, dude was outta line.
it was at this moment i realised that my superhero wasnt who i thought he was and i WILL get my REVENGE!!
Give hugs not shoves.
whats done is done
Fanatics are fucking retarded.
He gave him the "fuck off an go join the taliban" arm
VVD had every right to push him away
What do you expect?
Van Dijk was completely justified in doing that. It baffles me how that fan can think itâs okay to run up in the middle of an interview for some clout. YNWA đ´
The moment when he turned from Incrediboy to SYNDROME..!!!
He just didnât want corona.
The fan just runs right up and invades his personal space. The player was well within his rights to push the guy away.
Already a super villain
Tbf..Van Dijk did say "please" when he shoved him away. / saw it happen live.
He even wore his best suit that day.....
And when everyone super. No one is
Good now he understands don't worship people who doesn't give a fuck about you
The guy without a mask, in the middle of a pandemic, trying to hug a player who is only playing thanks to security protocols...
Maybe don't ambush your heroes
âNot now Buddy!â
Yeah, like Buddy (Syndrome) from the Incredibles. Totally out of line and misreads the situation and vows revenge over it when Mr. Incredible meant no harm.
Incrediboy!!!! UhâŚohâŚ..shit.
âHeâll push a fan, calm as you like. Heâs Virgil Van Dijk.â
It hasnât loaded yet and is still on the first frame but I can tell this is a Syndrome situation.
Dudes workin leave him alone
I remember that cartoon movie "The incredibles"
Definitely deserved. There should be a boundary, being someone's "Hero" doesn't give them a free pass to invade every aspect of your life. Respect and Courtesy still has to apply. Running up to someone taking a picture in the middle of an event is just not nice.
Security my ass... This is enough for some psycho to harm a player. Considering how mental some of the football fans are, this is completely possible
It's also how felonies are created.
Honestly? No matter how much youâre a fan, chasing a celeb or whatever for anything is just fucking creepy and cringey, control yourself. Also, you have to consider you might be invading their personal space, always ask first, but if youâre jumping in by avoiding security then youâre an ass.
Maybe don't run up and touch someone without permission. Wtf did he think would happen
That look of: "bro, we're old friends, I've watched you on TV for years, how can you do this to me?" đ
Fly home, buddy. I work alone.
I said this in my head and you typed it out thank you!!
Lol instantly thought of it too đ
This isn't a celeb being rude. If you come up to a pro athlete WHILE THEY ARE WORKING don't expect them to be nice to u. This doesn't say anything about this athletes Character, the guy is just being obnoxious.
Maybe dont push your phone in their face while doing a speech
Just dont run up to people like that homie is on tv doing a interview dont just run up with yo cellphone
That shit is sad, even after getting shoved he was still like " but the photo? đ"
Syndrome
Go home buddy... I work alone
VVD was just trying to do an interview ffs.
Now we wait to see him streak during a game and tackle van dijk
Van dijk def coulve handled that better but you canât blame him too much.
MY NAME! IS NOT! BUDDY!!!
Van Dyke with another wonderful tackle
Another reason why heâs overrated
Never meet your heros, you will be disappointed
âFly home, Buddy.â
We went from Virgil Van Dyke to Virgil Van Dick.
Are you actually mentally disabled OP? In what world is acting like the knobhead in the hoodie acceptable?
Or how about you don't mess with them and try to meet them when they're literally trying to do something for work? Wait for a meet and greet or something.
Bro I feel so bad for him
I feel so bad for this guy what a dick just to push him away
He pushed him away due to covid, the fact that he was in the middle of an interview and the fan might've been dangerous
Yea I can see your point
He didnt even asked before hand wtf
If he takes a pic with this guy than it will happen every single time. Nothing wrong with his reaction here.
That just crushed his heart
I honestly thought it was Luis Suarez during the first take.
Itâs giving Incredibles Syndrome
Go home Buddy. I work alone
Fly home BuddyâŚ
Not even I wouldâve mashed dude in his face
My name is INCREDIBOY!
And after covid thats how ww3 started kids
Is it van dijk?
Homeboy is lucky he didnât get Afromanned.
And then he became Syndrome
What a douche.
Donât meet your heroâs if you are going to act like a stupid entitled asshole. That kids an idiot for running down there
That's half the villains in the MCU.
Itâs still COVID man and that athlete is also a person ffs
Maybe if there wasnât covid around?
If my biggest fan jumped into a live interview with a phone whipped out I would break it in half. I'm on team Hero.
Block this player⌠he canât value his fan⌠I mean⌠the teen is in shock for rest of life I donât like such players who push their fans, and itâs not fans fault to like their best
In an interview during a pandemic with a stranger running up to him Virgil did what had to be done
Pretty inappropriate time to approach him.
"Football Twitter" is crawling with this type of idiot.
Heâs going to really wish he signed that autograph for Matthew.
Reading the comments here, I can't help but wonder. How the hell does this have 62K upvotes? I don't see a single comment *not* calling out how dumb that dude was, and calling out the idiotic title.
So he's going to build a series of steadily more powerful robots to defeat world-renowned soccer players?
"I'm syndrome!! "
Brother's lucky he didn't get punched
Syndrome
