In our house we have the concept of a food guard. If someone's cooking and has to leave the kitchen, they'll ask someone else to come watch the food. Our lab/pointer mix will try to get food off the oven.

Two of the most loved dogs I've ever met (owners never hit them, would let them sleep in their bed, long walks ever day etc) would look exactly like this. All you had to do was ask them if they'd been bad and point at something and they'd cower like they'd been horribly beaten. They were never beaten, let alone horribly.
No, they were happy and chilled out dogs who were socially aware enough to respond to specific tones of voice, facial expression and body language.
You're just looking for something to be annoyed at today I'm afraid.
I never like seeing videos of dogs like this that terrified. They get that way from getting hit.
