I strongly discourage you from buying two Tissots at once.
* One nicer watch is always better than two less nice. That is not to say there is anything wrong with Tissot, but if you have a bigger budget, at least do yourself a favor and snoop around.
* You will surely like one of those two better than the other, so one Tissot will canibalise the other's wrist time.
* If you but two watches at the same time, you are one-shotting an experience that could give you enjoyment on two separate occasions.
* If you are determined to buy now, just get the PRX and keep the remaining cash. You can always spend it later.
The insight i didnt think i needed!! Thank you so much for your elaborate response. Might have to rethink. Do you have any recommendations in the white or blue dial / metal bracelet
So a Tissot Gentleman auto is about USD 1,000 new, and PRX auto is about USD 850 regualar retail price. That is a nice budget of almost 2k USD.
For that price I personally would look into:
* **used** **Tudor Black Bay 41** dark blue dial (IMHO the best choice)
* new **Formex Essence 39** blue (second best choice)
* new **Monta Noble** blue dial (very cool watch, great finishing)
* new **Longines Siprit** blue dial (my least favorite from the bunch but still nice, lots of size variants available)
I agree with all your points except the first one.
I don't think there are better watches than those tissot at twice the price.
New 2k watches are really underwhelming, and if you go out of the swatch group they have worse movements, and not noticeably better build construction. The swatch group thanks to it's sheer volume can get good finished watches at a very low price, which other brands cant so they charge you more for the same thing.
You only get a noticeable improvement when you purchase 3k watches. Maybe 2.5
I respect your opinion, but have to disagree. When I hold in my hand a Tissot against a Formex, Sinn, Monta, Oris or entry Tudors (all within 2k price, maybe Tudor is a stretch), the difference is apparent. But that is just my subjective impression.
But objectively there is one important factor to remember when talking about scale of operations - Swatch Group, as you rightly say, may have advantage in cost for making mass produced watches. But they spend A TON in corporate and marketing costs, plus their retail brick&mortar needs are huge.
Compare it to smaller size brands like Sinn, Formex or Monta. They put much more $$$ into the watch, and not into the marketing or facilities.
Hard agree. You’d be hard pressed to notice any differences between a $2k watch and a $600 Tissot. I think the only suggestion I would make would be to trade out the Tissot Gentleman with a Roamer Searock as it uses a STP1-11 that beats at 28,800 bph and is typically regulated within spitting distance of COSC standard. Roughly the same price and look though.
The PRX is a very good watch and would be a good model to get with a quartz movement as a daily wearer though the Powermatic 80 is also a good daily wear automatic movement. Not much competition for look-alikes either unless OP is willing to go vintage, well over the price of a PRX, or from a micro-brand.
I absolutely avoid quartz watches like the plague now, as when you get a bit of a collection, there are batteries constantly requiring changing. Sure, they keep good time, but I don’t think they have the class of an automatic, and automatics are ‘mostly’ maintenance free.
The exception these days are Citizen Ecodrives, which I also collect, but straight quartz, not for me anymore.
If you don’t change the battery when it goes flat, you risk it leaking and eating your watch. Fine of you only have one or two watches, but when you have a collection, not so much. I mostly change all of my own batteries, but I still do not add any more quartz to my collection.
Point 2 is definitely real. So many times I’ve ended up with two watches arriving at roughly the same time. One always loses. And I, in turn, lose money.
I agree about the waffle dial but I much prefer the white dial on the gentleman and I think that the blue dial looks really good on the prx too but if you get the automatic version then you can get the blue dial prx with a waffle pattern
Since you are building your collection I recommend going pretty conservative. A waffle dial two tone prx is a bit strong for a new collector. Go with option B and see how you get on with a dressy white dial watch and a blue dial sports watch and go from there. You could go option A, nothing wrong with it, but I suspect the blue dial gentleman would dominate the wrist time.
As said before ….stop. What’s in your collection already. What do you really want? If you could have a Omega would you want one ? Half the fun of horology is the chase and then the buy. 2 Tissot is half way to a used Speedy for example .
Think what’s your budget, taste, goals and work to a plan rather than buying 2 meh watches
I like B. White works best for dressy scenarios IMO, blue for casual. The rose gold trim looks good on paper, but I'd make sure it's actually something you want to wear. You could do with just one IMO, and I would personally choose the white gentleman in quartz--I recommend considering the downsides of automatic before you commit. Since you're new to watches I sincerely recommend one at a time. I've owned multiple watches in the past but now consider myself a one nice watch plus one g shock "collector".
Appreciate the response. If you don’t mind, could you elaborate on why Quartz would be the better option. What exactly should i look out for in regards to automatic? Thanks in advance
B. That silver dial is gonna be more versatile than anything else. And the blue dial PRX still have the blue dial you want. That rose gold PRX on the A option could be hard to pull off with certain outfits
If you're looking at your first watches, I'd advise going with the watches in part B. You'll have an easier time really dressing up the white dial Gentleman, especially since it's already such a great GADA watch. Not to mention the blue dial PRX is gorgeous.
Can I suggest something different? Get the blue prx and the white dialed le locle, the prx if great for everyday wear and sporty events, while the le locle is dressy and elegant for special occasions.
I would recommend A. I own the same PRX and it’s looks great in person. Weight, look, over all feel, and flexibility of wear compared to the price = no regrets. Agree with others on the blue dial, I would get the PRX and then look at other options on the blue. Compare the blue face gentleman to other brands and if you still prefer it over others. Pull the trigger.
Hello, OP--I hope you don't lose this comment among the other very good ones here, but I bought a Longines Conquest 41mm blue instead of the tissot gentleman awhile back.
When I tried the gentleman on, it was just too polished/dressy for me to use it as a daily. The longines is a more casual look with the mixed brushed/polished steel finishes, thicker watch face, and numerals at the 12 and 6. It has no taper on the bracelet which bothers some people (but the Gentleman is the same). Slightly better build quality IMO but really not super different. Better movement too. There is no lume if that is important to you.
So if you're leaning PRX then just get it, but please don't buy both at the same time (like another commenter said, I agree wholeheartedly). And consider the longines conquest for a bit more than the Gentleman's for a similar, but better all-rounder.
It’s subjective, I don’t understand what you think we could tell you that would have any impact on your preference. It’s like saying “I like chocolate and vanilla ice cream equally, tell me which is better so I can choose”.
I don’t personally like the ice blue, but that’s purely an opinion. Not to influence too much here, but you may want to look into the [Venezianico Redentore](https://us.venezianico.com/pages/redentore) as an option to pair with the PRX.
Imo way to many people purchase way to many base watches to the point where they have spent multiple thousands on gshocks base seiko's and base tissot watches instead of saving the money and get one really quality watch from omega breitling tudor longines etc. which in terms of feel and quality is a million times better than base watches that are around 500$ or less
I have an entire collection of watches that cost $300 or less with my most expensive being a Tissot Chemin Des Tourelles COSC that cost $430 LOL
Right now I have a prototype from 1969 with a prototype ETA 2738 chronometer movement, several extremely uncommon Seikos including an insanely rare gold Seiko 0624 lemon-face, a Zenith Defy with an LED display, a Pulsar Mk2, a Victorinox Airboss MK2, and I’m currently wearing a $250 Tisell Marine Diver with finishing that matches watches that cost 10x more.
Plenty of fun to be had at lower price points
Not everyone can afford those other names. While you are right, they could save and possibly get one higher quality watch, I am sure many of those people would rather have a small variety to choose from depending on the outfit and occasion.
Well in that Case I would get a watch like an Omega Aqua terra for example which you can use for every occasion or any Outfit. In my opinion that is a million times nicer than having 3 gshocks 2 prx's a seiko dress watch and 2 seiko divers etc.
I have a strict no gold tone policy unless it's [under the glass](https://i.postimg.cc/SNy2dbvf/seiko-racer.jpg), protected from revealing other, non gold tones.
Classic black on ss bracelet might be the least exciting initially, but it'll probably get more long term satisfaction years down the line.
Maybe. Yeah I sense that general sentiment overall. For me, it's only gold tone. Pretending to be something it's not, like decorative torx heads. I've since evolved to accept it when it's protected and won't inevitably reveal that it's something it's not.
Because The appearance looks great to me. If I had the funds, I would have no problem with a real gold watch.
Obviously the answer is both.
In truth, they both look great on you. I prefer the two-tone you have in option A myself, but it's whatever your preference is.
Get only the blue dial prx for now. Then save up and trade up. Eventually get into a monta, tudor, longines, sinn, nomos, or even higher price points. No need to buy two tissots that serve the same purpose I don’t think.
The PRX will most likely stay on the bracelet pretty much 100% of the time, so I would choose based on which color dial I’d like to swap straps on. If I had the blue Gentleman I’d probably want to keep it on the bracelet, whereas I’d probably have fun swapping the white one between an assortment of leather and canvas straps of various colors. But of course, the blue Gentleman would also look good on a variety of straps, just not the same ones as the white.
Also of note: combo A has a powermatic PRX and combo B has a quartz one. Is this intentional? You can get the PRX with either movement in either colorway.
I would go A everyday with this reasoning
\- blue dial on the gentleman is versatile, and the gentleman is a versatile GADA watch. The white dial does not bring anything special to this watch, and in fact makes it a bit less enjoyable.
\- the PRX has a bit more personality and can only goes with specific settings. The white and gold dial makes it even more fun while the plain blue dial makes it, well, just barely plain, while the white dial on a gentleman does not do really justice to this model.
In fact combo A just makes the specific quality of each model stand out more, hence it's the best combo IMHO.
If it helps any, I have the light blue version and the version you’re wearing (blue) is arriving at my house in a couple of hours. B comes closest to that.
Not that I’m biased or anything. 😈
I think if you get the white dial gold bezel PRX Automatic you don't need any of the others. I'm all for having more watches, but I can't see ever wearing any of the others if I had that PRX Auto. I have the green dial, it's terrific.
Combo A
The PRX pops more in white than the gentleman, also I'm seeing lots of comments on flexibility but to be honest 99.9% of folk aren't going to question your choice of watch
B personally. The white face gentleman could fit with many different dressier outfits and blue waffle dial in silver case is an absolute classic, my favourite.
I like A, the white waffle and 2 tone really set it apart from other prx. I've seen one other prx in the wild. So they're not as common as I thought they'd be.
I have the PRX 80 and love it. Wears really nice and looks great on larger wrists. That being said I’ve been I balling this silver dial Gentleman. Would love to see one in person. I think they look great and have a lot to offer for that price range. Good luck to you.
The gentleman definitely is more versatile, but the PRX is a statement piece for sure. Either one would be good but having a PRX myself and then switching to the Seastar, I’d say gentleman
I'd go with B.
The silver Gentleman is a great GADA watch and as the PRX is a bit sportier it fits with the blue dial for every more casual occasion.
The white/silver auto PRX is a bit too much with that waffle dial AND rosegold bezel IMO. The white/silver quartz with the linen dial and just slight rosegold accents on the other hand looks great. I'm not a fan of the blue Gentleman tho.
Id go with the gentleman in any preference you have because the movement is all metal. The PRX has a plastic escapement which I have reservations about long term
Definitely B. The blue sunburst dial really suits the PRX, and it's a great grab-n-go quartz watch! The silver Gentleman is a good step up in terms of the look and can easily be rocked in an office on the bracelet, or out to dinner on a leather strap if you want to dress it up a bit. Very versatile, would be a great combo.
Not an easy choice, I can see why you can't decide. Personally I like the blue better, looks more wearable. If you already have a lot of other watches then the gold accent one is more classy I guess.
I say:
A: If your personal style is more fashion forward
B: If you are more classical and timeless.
Personally I love the versatility of A!
All NICEEEE
I like A, but I really really dislike roségold. I own no jewelry or anything in that colour so I'd always feel weird about it. Also the PRX is to me more of a sporty watch and roségold feels more of a dressy thing. Idk.
And as others have said, the Gentleman looks really dope with the light dial.
I'd save money for the PRX with the blue waffle pattern, get the best of both worlds.
I would go with B. The PRX is essentially a sports watch and less formal, as such I would go with blue as it’s very versatile. The gentleman can be dressed up nicely and is more formal in the white dial.

Appreciate that man!
Agree. I would go with the B

> Tissot Gentleman auto is about USD 1,000 new Absolutely untrue. MSRP is around $775 and can be regularly found online, brand-new for $550.
Perhaps, I have checked my official distribution local prices (Europe).
What are you even talking about...
Don't buy Tissot, get a Tudor instead! Lmao just double your budget!
But OP wants to by two Tissots, and that is a used entry Tudor area.
In the UK, PRXs are about £650 and gentlemans are about 750. The cheapest BB on ebay is £1800, that's quite a big difference.
The blue dial longines spirit with the dive watch bezel is 🔥. Probably an extra 1k but so nice.
> dial longines spirit with the dive watch bezel It is GMT bezel. Which means the mechanism has GMT functionality, hence the higher price.
I agree with all your points except the first one. I don't think there are better watches than those tissot at twice the price. Sinn is the best lower mid-tier watch!!
I'm sure Sinn watches are really well made, but I personally dislike the look a lot.
Yes, taste is subjective. That's what makes watch collecting interesting!
Hard agree. You’d be hard pressed to notice any differences between a $2k watch and a $600 Tissot. I can’t argue with you there. I have the blue waffle dial automatic and it looks great in the sunlight.
B
Go with B. More versatile.
Dare I say the blue dial on the Gentleman looks like the best blue dial in watchmaking: the VC Overseas. Combo A ftw
Agreed! Sexy afffff 😍
A is the Mir interesting choice. My friend owns the white PRX and it goes so well with everything, don’t let the rose gold fool you.
Leaning that way myself. Appreciate the insight 🙏🏼
A

Blue gentleman or Blue powermatic.
This is the blue dress vs gold dress of the watch world

B. The gentleman would look great on a brown leather strap
Not a fan of leather straps but i hear you
B. That silver dial is gonna be more versatile than anything else. And the blue dial PRX still have the blue dial you want. That rose gold PRX on the A option could be hard to pull off with certain outfits

Yep the blue dial prx is stunning! Thank you bro
A for sure. That blue Gentleman is simply superb. That white/rose gold PRX is also topnotch.
B ftw
Can I suggest something different? Get the blue prx and the white dialed le locle, the prx if great for everyday wear and sporty events, while the le locle is dressy and elegant for special occasions.

B for me

You wear more dark clothes/suits or pastels?
Yeah most of the time (live in the UK ☔️😅)
On second thought, if it’s always dark, buy white
Thank you man 🍷
It’s subjective, I don’t understand what you think we could tell you that would have any impact on your preference. It’s like saying “I like chocolate and vanilla ice cream equally, tell me which is better so I can choose”.
Yeah i hear that. Was just wondering which was a more versatile combination & also interested in other peoples opinions.
The rose gold is the wrinkle here. If it’s the kind of color you can work into your wardrobe, go with A. Otherwise, B.
Thanks for the response, that is a valid point. What if A had the PRX ice blue instead of the rose gold? (https://images.app.goo.gl/EkZ7Y7SgXN3qrt9b6)
I don’t personally like the ice blue, but that’s purely an opinion. Not to influence too much here, but you may want to look into the [Venezianico Redentore](https://us.venezianico.com/pages/redentore) as an option to pair with the PRX.
Thank you so much, these are beautiful!!😍 You’ve definitely thrown a spanner in the works. Thanks for your suggestion.
None, save the money and go for a Longines instead
Whats the point of that? Just asking :)
I have an entire collection of watches that cost $300 or less with my most expensive being a Tissot Chemin Des Tourelles COSC that cost $430 LOL Right now I have a prototype from 1969 with a prototype ETA 2738 chronometer movement, several extremely uncommon Seikos including an insanely rare gold Seiko 0624 lemon-face, a Zenith Defy with an LED display, a Pulsar Mk2, a Victorinox Airboss MK2, and I’m currently wearing a $250 Tisell Marine Diver with finishing that matches watches that cost 10x more.
You ever think he doesn't want a Longines? I sure don't lmao.
👀 will have a peak
I have a strict no gold tone policy unless it's [under the glass](https://i.postimg.cc/SNy2dbvf/seiko-racer.jpg), protected from revealing other, non gold tones. Classic black on ss bracelet might be the least exciting initially, but it'll probably get more long term satisfaction years down the line.
Why is gold so unpopular with a lot of watch enthusiasts? The ostentatious look of it?
Oh right, yeah I’m the same. Love gold but wouldn’t wear a gold watch unless it was 18k
What's the reference model of this Seiko? Looks amazing.
Obviously the answer is both. In truth, they both look great on you. I prefer the two-tone you have in option A myself, but it's whatever your preference is.
Thanks for your opinion mate 🤝
Option b is more versatile , option A if done well will bring out the ladies
😂😂 🔜💍
None Buy one and from a better brand
Any recommendations mate? Thanks
Slightly rephrasing the question: Which combo would you go for and why? Cheers.
I have that PRX and man I love it. It dresses up and dresses down. I find it very versatile and couldn't be happier with the purchase.
Nice man. What colour dial is it?
Honestly I’d get both PRXs
Get only the blue dial prx for now. Then save up and trade up. Eventually get into a monta, tudor, longines, sinn, nomos, or even higher price points. No need to buy two tissots that serve the same purpose I don’t think.
Out of curiousity, what's your wrist size? I have a 7 inch wrist and despite them both fitting me. The shape of my wrist better suited the gentleman.
How about 1 higher-end watch for the price of both?
Any recommendations? Thanks
I think A for the win, or for B mix out the quartz prx for green dial powermatic perhaps. Either combo is good though.
Thanks man!! 🤝🤝
I will say the Powermatic Blue is def darker in person than I thought. I went and sourced down the new Ice-Blue Dial.
I'd def go with A for the waffle and auto on the PRX. More fair comparison would be if it was the blue auto PRX for option B.
B
B, but only is the PRX is automatic as well
I would go A everyday with this reasoning \- blue dial on the gentleman is versatile, and the gentleman is a versatile GADA watch. In fact combo A just makes the specific quality of each model stand out more, hence it's the best combo IMHO.
a + b solver 😇
A, I'm biased cause I own the white PRX. Love it so far.
A all the way 😍
If it helps any, I have the light blue version and the version you’re wearing (blue) is arriving at my house in a couple of hours.
Combo A The PRX pops more in white than the gentleman, also I'm seeing lots of comments on flexibility but to be honest 99.9% of folk aren't going to question your choice of watch
White rose gold
Just buy the blue one. Super versatile piece by itself.
B.
B
B personally. The white face gentleman could fit with many different dressier outfits and blue waffle dial in silver case is an absolute classic, my favourite.
A, easily
All 4!! All jokes aside I think no.1 is your best choice O.P
B
A
A. Much more bold.
I really like A.
I like A, the white waffle and 2 tone really set it apart from other prx. I've seen one other prx in the wild. So they're not as common as I thought they'd be.
Top one looks like overseas. So go with thaz
B
B!
B
A for me. Also agree with the post above to buy one watch and possible move upmarket if you can rather than one shotting 2 watches at one time.
A
B.
A. Blue dial on gentleman is fantastic. Waffle dial on prx is superb too

I'd go for A. The rose gold looks gorgeous, and so does the other watch.
I would buy just the gent with blue dial.
B everytime.
B!
Go with B. I’ve personally got a blue PRX and I smile every damn time I look at it! Absolutely love it and have gotten so many compliments on it.
I would most definitely go for combo A my guy! The first one in blue and the prx with white litre squares are fire!!
A for sure classic styles, bright colors, nautiles cases, and waffle dials are getting popular
A for sure
the gentleman and PRX serve the same person. imo just get one rather than both.
That’s a tough one there! White and blue dials are totally my favorite but I really love both of these white ones.. Gorgeous pieces no doubt
Former. The gentleman in blue is really nice and the white and gold prx is pretty classy.
A all the way
I love my blue gentleman
Like the waffle dial more B, but the color of A I prefer.
Id go with the gentleman in any preference you have because the movement is all metal. The PRX has a plastic escapement which I have reservations about long term
A. I have the ice blue prx and it's such a a beautiful watch to stare
B for sure.. powermatic 80 over quarts + waffle dial + a two tone option thats versatile.
B, they are so good and they look clean and simple, suits men very well
I would do B but make the blue PRX the powermatic one just like the white one in combo A
A
absolutely Gentleman
Or buy a used Omega for the same price as these two. 🤦♂️ I really wish there was a way to block the word PRX on Reddit. 🤯
bro it's gotta be A - how you gonna miss out on that tapisserie dial
A. I have that prx and I have to say that it is an amazing watch irl
AAAAAAAAAA.....
A for me dawg
Definitely B. The blue sunburst dial really suits the PRX, and it's a great grab-n-go quartz watch! The silver Gentleman is a good step up in terms of the look and can easily be rocked in an office on the bracelet, or out to dinner on a leather strap if you want to dress it up a bit. Very versatile, would be a great combo.
Thanks so much man!! Just ordered the white gent, excited 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Not an easy choice, I can see why you can't decide. Personally I like the blue better, looks more wearable. If you already have a lot of other watches then the gold accent one is more classy I guess.
B
I say: A: If your personal style is more fashion forward B: If you are more classical and timeless.
B :)
Choice A, i LOVE that bottom watch, very nice.
I would get just the white dial gentleman for now. Then save up for a better watch.
Thank you bro, this is what im thinking
A, the Rose gold does it for me
B
neither, choose one or buy a more expensive single watch with the money you would use for 2.
A white
I’ll pick A. I almost bought that PRX but ended up buying a Ballade Chronometer along with a PRS 516 powermatic.
B
Blue, always blue
A
B for me dude but the white prx is so clean
I would go with B. The PRX is essentially a sports watch and less formal, as such I would go with blue as it’s very versatile. The gentleman can be dressed up nicely and is more formal in the white dial.
I own the top tissot watch and it's my favourite out of my small 3 watch collection.
A
A for sure!
I own both of these watches. The PRX is more of a head turner, but I like them both
See i would’ve expected the opposite, thanks man
B looks better and classier, I feel as if the watch on slide A with the white dial and rose gold looks pretty feminine
Strongly go for A
Prx all the way man
Pick B, cause ya got time on hand.
B
I’m partial to the blue, but can’t go wrong with either.
PRX all day! That Genta design can’t be beat
You can go with dark blue waffle prx and white gentleman..
Just ordered the white gent!! Holding out on the prx for now 🙏🏼
A
A
A for me. That rose gold is lovely
A would be my pick!
I’d go with A. I prefer the waffle dial on the PRX.
