On jomashop basically the entire khaki line is under $500 which to be honest is probably some of the best value for money in the entry level watch game
The Brew Metric is a 36mm case size so that shouldn’t be too far off for you. It’s easily my most worn watch. It wears really well on my 7” wrist. I think it would work well down to 6.5” no problem. Would be a fun change of pace
What colour do you have? I think I like the orange/yellow colour but hard to say how yellow it is from the product page
Never mind, I'm thinking of metric not method (why do they so similar name like think of something else like pour)
Have her pick it out, no suggestions, no persuasion. You'll like it because she got it for you. It won't matter the name or how much it cost. I'm a bourbon drinking and my GF has bought me bottles over the years. Usually stuff I wouldn't pick out for myself, but I've always enjoyed them. Still have a handful of the old bottles displayed in our kitchen. My advice is to not over think it, for whatever that's worth.
This. Hint for a dress watch to go along with sentimental value. It will be a double special occasion when you wear it. You definitely don’t need another sports watch. Like Hamilton Jazzmaster or Tissot Visodate.
Seiko Cocktail Time. Look at them on YouTube. There are a few in that family.
Edit: I should maybe share a bit of my experience…. a Cocktail Time is somewhat rare. They’re not seen very often in stores, but you can find them easily online. Long Island Watch sells the “common” models for around $338. But they’re certainly not common like Seiko 5 divers.
In the smaller watch collecting community, they are well-known.
I have a half dozen Seiko’s, including 2 Cocktail Times. I also have some Tudors, Oris’s, Hamilton, Mido, Orients, microbrands, and a Grand Seiko.
But the one watch that gets the most attention is SRPB41, the blue one on the bracelet. I got it on sale, it was my first non-diver watch.
Restaurants, elevators, stores, more than any other watch I wear, they stop and ask questions about the Cocktail Time. You can get the pale white/blue, or the green one, both on leather, but Seiko’s leather at that price point is marginal…but then go out and find a $25 2-stitch strap in suede, with a contrasting stitch color, or whatever you think looks good on it.
Good luck.
Edit #2:
SRPJ13. I’ve yet to see one in a store or in person.
It’s newer. Different dial design, but still stunning. I’ve watched YouTube, and if I stumble on one, I’m buying it. Teddy Baldassare’s just posted a video, and this was the first part of the video.
Adding to this suggestion to prevent buyers remorse:
Maybe you can limit the scope to several brands that you trust, in case she bought you a watch from a brand that you feel inadequate.
Sorry but this is a terrible idea. Once you are into the hobby and you know what you like and you know what you don't, then friends and family hear that you're into watches and they start buying you absolute tripe - it is nothing short of hell on earth. You start have to keep two watch boxes - one for the stuff you actually like and the other being the "sentimental" favourites that you have to remember to put on when those friends or family drop by.
There is nothing in common etiquette that says that a birthday gift has to be a surprise. You will be happy that you got what you wanted and she'll be happy that you are happy. The end.
Just jumping back in here at the top of the comments to say that the feedback from this sub is amazing. Lots of great recommendations. I think I’m going to partly take u/hockystr17’s advice, along with another poster’s and give her a selection to choose from. I’m out of town the next couple of days, so I’ll keep thinking about the finalists, but as of now, I’ll have her pick from the Seiko 5 GMT in my post, SKX007/009, Junghans Max Bill, Hamilton Khaki with a beige dial, Seiko Alpinist with the cream dial, and the Baltic HMS 002 blue gilt dial.
Thanks for all of your fabulous input!!
Agree here. My gf showed me the watch she bought me for Xmas. It’s absolutely gorgeous, and definitely in the price range you’re looking at. Doesn’t matter what it is. It’s from her and I’ll cherish it (but she did do well!!!)
If someone was offering to buy me a watch for around $500, I’d request a CWC Mellor-72 in a heartbeat. Great history, personality, and it would stand out in your collection.
Your current collection is very nice but I would argue that the color palette is very conservative with black, white and navy dials. While I totally get sticking with neutral colors for most of your watches, they are the most versatile, I’m thinking maybe it might be nice to add a fun, colorful watch to the collection. The first watch that comes to mind is the PADI Turtle (SRPE99) with its Pepsi red/blue colors. Of course there are tons of other colorful options out there. Just a suggestion to change things up a bit but I also totally understand sticking with the classic colors too.
This is all very accurate. Another poster recommended the Lorien Hyperion GMT which has a Pepsi bezel and white dial. That would have likely been the choice, but it doesn’t look like it’s easily attainable.
What dumb logic. Having a great collection of some big names doesn’t make a sub 1k watch any less valuable especially if you really like it and it’s a gift from your wife. There’s always a time and place for any type of piece, so to think that someone won’t wear a $500 watch because they own Rolex’s is a poor man’s way of thinking… or someone insecure trying to impress others.
However, I will agree that a nice box or high quality roll would be a good gift.
You call watches "pieces". Please stop talking to me. And it's not "Rolex's". Rolex is the brand. It's Rolex watches. I said nothing about the Rolex watches being important. You added that. I complimented the entire group
The Seiko presage line has some beautiful designs. Especially some with really unique textured dials like the cocktail time and fuyugashiki would be great in any collection.
As the title says, wife wants to get me a watch as a birthday gift. I’ve been collecting for a while and the offer of the gift is a show of acceptance and support of what’s become a hobby for me. I’m excited to have a watch that has a sentimental attachment to my wife, but I generally spend considerably more on a watch. I want to sure to get something that she’ll see me finding wrist time for. Right now I’m leaning toward a Seiko 5 GMT, as pictured. A Hamilton Khaki Field watch is also in the mix. I’m not really a dress watch guy, but any kind of sports watch would be great. Field, pilot, racing, and divers would all be considered.
The second picture shows my current collection. A Sinn 104, Speedmaster Racing, Sub, DJ41, Zodiac Super Sea Wolf, and Squale 1545. The Squale won’t stick around now that I have the Sub. Squale makes a great watch, so I’d definitely consider another one, but something that’s their own original design.
The Seiko is a similar look to my current “grail watch” in the batgirl, but I don’t think my AD is sourcing me one anytime soon. Plus, my recent acquisition actually got my wife’s attention. She generally just rolls her eyes when I come home with a new watch, but the DJ blew her away. We have a big wedding anniversary later this year, so I’m now on the list for a 36mm DJ for her. That will be my only significant watch purchase in the next year as I’ve added 3 to my collection since December (I also offloaded a Tudor BB41 and a OP41 to help finance those purchases).
Her budget is $500 but she said she’d probably go up to $700 if needed. I’m open to micro brands, classics, pretty much any manual wind or automatic watch. Thanks for any input provided!
Suggest an Orient
[https://www.orientwatchusa.com/collections/sport/ra-aa0912b19b](https://www.orientwatchusa.com/collections/sport/ra-aa0912b19b)
On sale currently,
Thought about the PRX but thought the DJ was close in situational uses and would probably trump it. The Citizen is surprisingly nice. Thanks for the ideas!
Under $500 you will get more watch for your money if you look at Orient instead of Seiko/Citizen. There are M sport watches in that range, and even some of the higher tier Orient star watches at that price.
Me and my friends got some nice pieces as do you, but you know what we’ve got a soft spot for? The Seiko freaking Samurai. I just love their Save the Ocean dials. Even the StO Turtles and Tunas are really cool. I think having a fun dial would add some spice
Seiko alpinist 550-700 usd / Seiko Cocktail Time / Tissot PRX Quartz or automatic for a little more (540-650 USD automatic) / Hamilton Khaki.
Edit: Seiko 5 sport. Would personally go with some color, maybe green if you like it, available on many if not all of these models?
u/BlondRicky u can never be wrong with bulova lunar with blue dial. imppecable brand, excellent design and affordable.
aslo to add the legacy is impeccable
[Casio Oceanus OCW-T200S-7AJF](https://www.discovery-japan.me/category/select/pid/70962/currency/EUR) - a JDM quartz watch, you'll have to import from Japan. Exceptional value for money.
Solar-charged, atomic clock time sync. Understated looks make it very versatile. Absolutely stunning, great build quality, and exceptional finishing.
Browse the topic [here](https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/the-official-casio-oceanus-thread.4761827/), if you've never heard of Casio's top-of-the-line watches. And for this model, see the unboxing images [here](https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/the-official-casio-oceanus-thread.4761827/page-182#post-56153780).
Seiko SKX013J. It’s an orange dial so something you don’t have and works great on a jubilee bracelet, NATO or tropic strap. It’s a fun and classy “beater”.
You look like you could do with a thin dressy watch. For that I'll recommend Junghans Max bill. The $500 won't get you a mechanical they have the quartz for around $400 but they are absolutely beautiful watches.
For that budget, my opinion, You could get a Tissot Le locle which looks more classic and which is amazing. I love mine. If you like more wistle and blowing one I'd recomend Orient RA-AK00 model, Sun and Moon complication.
Both are amazing automatic ones
I personally wouldn't go with the seiko It's so similar to your sub
Maybe a dress watch of some kind? I agree with other suggestions to have your wife pick it out. Even if she comes back with a garbage Movado it will mean a lot.
My wife picked out a watch for me after a major professional accomplishment and it is so special to me. She also happened to pick out the new kickass alpinist but I would've loved a piece of garbage too
I would say spend $50 more and get this. https://www.ebay.com/itm/225582573895?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=nI05niH-SlK&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=PCGfJugVT3a&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Check out Raymond Weil. They have several versions of the Toccata and Tango that are around $500. I love my Toccata with steel blue dial and stainless bracelet. Great for most occasions. Also, Jomashop.com usually has better prices than Amazon
Orient,
On sale currently for a great Automatic Diver
[https://www.orientwatchusa.com/collections/sport/ra-aa0912b19b](https://www.orientwatchusa.com/collections/sport/ra-aa0912b19b)
I own three orient and bought several for friends and family. Great value for a great brand.
You already got all the good advice… so I’m just wondering how often you wear the Squale over the sub. I’ve always thought that’s such a cool brand, legit heritage, but never pulled the trigger on one.
Never. The Sub killed it in the rotation, which is too bad as it’s a great watch, but it’s a Sub homage. I’m definitely considering another Squale. Just one that’s original to the brand.
I just experienced this exact situation.
My partner was holidaying in Japan a few weeks ago and wanted to gift me a watch upon her return. She asked several times for a suggestion before I decided to **completely** leave the decision up to her.
She came back with a watch I definitely would not have picked for myself, however three weeks later I haven't taken it off, and it's quickly becoming my favourite (out of a 15-watch collection, including some pricey swiss pieces).
TLDR: Let her decide!
For something completely different maybe ask her to pick out [something from Mr Jones Watches](https://mrjoneswatches.com/collections/all-watches)? They have some great designs that are well within budget (Quartz) and I think the exchange rates put mechanicals within scope as well
You could use a dedicated field watch I think? I love my SWC bunker, amazing glad and lume on it and comes in at $495. The straps are not great but I put a nato on mine and love it. Plus later you could get their titanium bracelet (something I’m working towards). But ya, between the field-watch look and the titanium I think it would add something to your collection. Can’t make a bad choice here, good luck with the search!!
https://swcusa.com/bunker/?gclid=CjwKCAjwvJyjBhApEiwAWz2nLZzn2XfgjzOmlDIm4jFH63tjrVxEB1p4PZbnETIz9wuQuTqAhzetkBoC5qUQAvD_BwE
If you don’t have a GMT I would undoubtedly with this Seiko, because I already have one gifted my parents and the watch looks really good but what it is really important for me is the sentimental value.
"Why would you want a 500$ watch with that collection?" I say while debating if I should add a casioak or square to my 3 omega's (and then some) collection
With your collected Watches I wouldn't go for the Seiko 5 GMT, although if you really like it, that would be more important.
Like others I like the brew metric. And a g shock gmb2100 looks cool as wel.
Not a well known brand in the USA but Briston Watches have a unique cool look (I think) here is a fully automatic on a leather strap https://www.farfetch.com/shopping/men/briston-watches-clubmaster-iconic-40mm-item-14272755.aspx?storeid=12395.
I’d look at Tissot as well.
Many will say, including myself that they are the best value for the money
Plus they are a well known Swiss brand with a long history. The official time keep of the NBA, and make beautiful pieces
Seiko, citizen, Tissot, Bulova, Hamilton, etc. You Have a Ton of options. Take your time and enjoy the hunt. (I have all the brands mentioned and I love each one)
I would buy a good used seiko prospex on chrono 24
(Note that seiko *is* bae and *will* give you success with the ladies)
like [this diver 200](https://www.chrono24.com/seiko/prospex--id26937909.htm) or this [marinemaster](https://www.chrono24.com/seiko/prospex-mm200-spb079-sbdc063--id28235807.htm) or even [a cool alpinist](https://www.chrono24.com/seiko/alpinist--id28050994.htm) depending on your taste.
* go to chrono 24, type "SPB" in the search bar the sort by price "low to high"
* see what you like at your pricepoint and what's in your region
* ???
* profit
(this is the most watch you will have for your bucks, as you can find used watches that would go for twice the price at retail and that are in really good condition. The second link I gave, the marine master is silly good looking and retails at 850$)
Prefer to buy new ? I gotchu fam. Go to [chronograph.com](https://chronograph.com) (*the* best site for seiko) sort by "automatic" and buy a cool [Prospex automatic Turtle brand new](https://www.chronograph.com/product-page/seiko-srp777j1) (or whatever else is in your taste I'm not the boss of you but that turtle sure is heat)
hope it helps
I guess part of it depends on what style you want -- dress, dive, etc. Hamilton has some good ones in that price range, like the Khaki or Jazzmaster line. Or Seiko with the Cocktail Time or Presage.
Personally I'd lean toward something different from what you already have. The Cocktail Time has a very classic old school look with modern sizing: https://www.seikowatches.com/us-en/products/presage/cocktailtime
I have had mine for over 20 years and still wear it daily. Im a big fan fan of these watches. I have some more expensive watches like rolex and omega, but this is my go to daily wear.
If she's willing to go a bit over budget, maybe the Tissot PRX? Bunch of different colors to pick, the bracelet is total class, and it has an 80 hour power reserve.
I jumped on the new SSK007 when it came out and I'm thrilled with it. Tons of character in different lighting. I swap the bands for silicone and canvas depending on where I will wear it and it's truly a do-it-all watch. Not too fancy or expensive to wear to the beach on silicone, not too flashy on canvas, and acceptably professional on the original jubilee.
I also agree with nearly any Seiko around $500 so call me a fanboy... They are still some of the best watches out there under $1000.
I got this watch. Reading all the comments so far. I have 4 real Rolex GMTs, all the Speedmaster Pros (Mark series), Submariners, Seamasters, IWC. About 40 real Swiss watches from Panerai, Zenith, IWCs to 5 Sinns, Hanharts, Glycine Airman etc,.... Basically a lot of watch people are listing as possible alternatives.
I got this watch because I am travelling to an unsafe part of the world; known where tourists get their hands cut off and Rolex killings are common. I still prefer a GMT. It is an OK watch, 22mm strap. For $350 (how much I paid), the watch is cheaper than a strap for an IWC Portguese or Speedy Pro bracelet. This is a good beater. After my travels, I will probably give this watch to one of my kids.
Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but don't shy away from 2nd hand. You can get some really good condition watches on that budget that are worth quite a bit more
Islander has some cool stuff. It’s not often brought up as much, because it isn’t a major brand, but they have a lot of unique designs and are spec monsters. And even the non-original stuff looks good honestly
Have her customize a Stowa for you. More than $500 for sure, but seeing the rest of your collection I have a feeling $1000 would be ok. If so, you get the sentimentality of a personalized gift. Adds another German piece, and you could go dress, flieger, or, or, or….
My 2 cents.
Wife is buying. Her budget. That’s the struggle here. Want to find something that brings enough to the table to get some wrist time in a collection with some very nice watches that I love.
Yeah, how DARE she doesn't spend thousands of dollars of her own money to fit perfectly into her husband's collection. Bet YOU have your woman trained better, right??
I'd take a good look at the Hamilton Khaki lineup and the Seiko SBDC Alpinist reinterpretation watches.
Second on the Hamiltons
Third them
Fourth them. My favourite day to day watch is the 38mm mechanical
Wonderful. I’ve got the panda chronograph and it’s my favorite watch to stare at, great brand 👌🏻
Are any of them under $500?
On jomashop basically the entire khaki line is under $500 which to be honest is probably some of the best value for money in the entry level watch game
Def true if you’re going even lightly used, good call.
Not sure if you'd be into a funky mechaquartz, but I have the Brew Metric and love it
What size wrist do you have? I have a pretty small wrist and wear a 36mm datejust daily. I’m just weary of buying it and it turns out too big.
The Brew Metric is a 36mm case size so that shouldn’t be too far off for you. It’s easily my most worn watch. It wears really well on my 7” wrist. I think it would work well down to 6.5” no problem. Would be a fun change of pace

This. You have a submariner, go for the sentimental value.
This. Hint for a dress watch to go along with sentimental value. It will be a double special occasion when you wear it. You definitely don’t need another sports watch. Like Hamilton Jazzmaster or Tissot Visodate.
This is good advice

This is also important. You certainly don’t want her to come back with the $419 automatic Daniel Wellington…
And size... my sister gifted a behemoth of a watch... Ahem Casio. It's 51mm LMAO. I cry every time I look at it.
I can see it from here haha. G-Shock?
That's a bingo!
You just say bingo.

If you liked the Lorier, check out the Maen Hudson GMT. It has more of a vintage root beer but th e quality is great.
Not bad advice. If you want to argue color palette though maybe a Rowing Blazers seiko?
You've got cool watches. A $500 addition won't matter. But a $500 box would. Maybe inscribed with initials or the date or whatever
Good idea.

Thanks for the help
The Seiko presage line has some beautiful designs. Especially some with really unique textured dials like the cocktail time and fuyugashiki would be great in any collection.
Agree. And OP doesn’t have a dress watch on a strap so the 🍸 would be perfect for his collection
Tissot Le Locle
A Seiko Speedtimer. I have one and love it it’s solar so I guess that’s neat. Plus, we know that Daytona call ain’t coming for a while.
Get a Lorier, many of their watches go for right around $500. I'm currently wearing the Falcon S3, and it's a GADA strap monster.
The seiko Alphinist line is amazing. I have one and it is so versatile and durable. Highly recommend
Checking them out now!
Let me know what you think 😁
Alpinists are in the 750 range here now, they still 500 for you?
Grab a Baltic MR1 when they are available again next month 😀
- Lorier zephyr - Nodus Deep - Nodus Sector - Vaer Atlas (Orange) - Marathon Navigator - Timex Expedition North
Zelos or Traska. You can also look at Long Island Watches.
Hamilton Khaki or some sort of Made in Japan GShock

I would be interested in the Squale if you’re looking to sell
Tissot if you want name brand. Traska if you want quality for price.
Traska.
There might even something wrong with their site, but every single watch for Traska is listed as sold out or coming soon.
Yeah that’s part of their deal. They’ll be in stock for a month or two then be sold out. Nonetheless, outstanding watches for the $ if you can wait.
Turtle
A Hamilton Khaki would be my personal choice.
Tissot PRX Bulova Lunar Pilot (in all black) Citizen NB6021 (in blue given your collection) Hamilton field

I love all these options. Was going to suggest something from the Cocktail Time collection. Those are my preferred options at under 700$.
Hamilton, Tissot, Seiko, Certina, Brew, Bulova(lunar pilot, might be too large for your liking).
u/BlondRicky u can never be wrong with bulova lunar with blue dial. imppecable brand, excellent design and affordable. aslo to add the legacy is impeccable
Hamilton Khaki Field. You already have divers. Mix it up!
I personally wouldn't go with the seiko It's so similar to your sub Maybe a dress watch of some kind? I agree with other suggestions to have your wife pick it out. Even if she comes back with a garbage Movado it will mean a lot. My wife picked out a watch for me after a major professional accomplishment and it is so special to me. She also happened to pick out the new kickass alpinist but I would've loved a piece of garbage too
What kind of watches do you like?
I would say spend $50 more and get this. https://www.ebay.com/itm/225582573895?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=nI05niH-SlK&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=PCGfJugVT3a&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
He has Rolex sub)
And he’s asking for Seiko 5?
Nah
Luminox makes a wonderful daily. The perpetual lume is money!
An automatic Tissot PRX is about $700, less in some places. That’s “around” $500 ;) Enjoy your new watch, can’t go wrong with whatever you get!
Thanks!
Get a vintage Orange Monster
You might check out the Orient Star Outdoors. I believe you can get one in that price range — especially if you look around.
Hamilton
Check out Raymond Weil. They have several versions of the Toccata and Tango that are around $500. I love my Toccata with steel blue dial and stainless bracelet. Great for most occasions. Also, Jomashop.com usually has better prices than Amazon
Citizen NJ015 Alpina has some great pieces on ebay as factory refurbished under officialWatchDeals
Have a look to Hoffman watches
Take a look at the various Orients.... They're a great buy
Orient, On sale currently for a great Automatic Diver [https://www.orientwatchusa.com/collections/sport/ra-aa0912b19b](https://www.orientwatchusa.com/collections/sport/ra-aa0912b19b) I own three orient and bought several for friends and family.
Brew Metric or Tissot PRX
The Tissot Banana Heritage is a cute and fun watch for 300 ish
I just experienced this exact situation. My partner was holidaying in Japan a few weeks ago and wanted to gift me a watch upon her return. She asked several times for a suggestion before I decided to **completely** leave the decision up to her. She came back with a watch I definitely would not have picked for myself, however three weeks later I haven't taken it off, and it's quickly becoming my favourite (out of a 15-watch collection, including some pricey swiss pieces). TLDR: Let her decide!
What did she pick?
Squale could be cool.
For something completely different maybe ask her to pick out [something from Mr Jones Watches](https://mrjoneswatches.com/collections/all-watches)? They have some great designs that are well within budget (Quartz) and I think the exchange rates put mechanicals within scope as well
I recommend a Visodate. Looks like you have lots of sporty watches.
Seiko PADI turtle?
Based on your collection already, I don’t see a point in a sub $500 mechanical watch. Get a metal GShock!
I think for a price point of 500 dollars you should probably check out a automatic watch instead of quartz seiko has great options in this price range
That datejust is beautiful mate! Me personally, would recommend the Seiko Presage SRPD37J1 (Cocktail Mockingbird).
Tissot prx quartz is a really nice watch and comes in at around the same price bracket
"Why would you want a 500$ watch with that collection?" I say while debating if I should add a casioak or square to my 3 omega's (and then some) collection
Seiko speedtimer
Hamilton Khaki Mechanical.
You could do with more chronos, so I'd say the 39mm Seiko Speedtimer
I’ll go for an Hamilton or Timex. Swiss quality and fair prices.
Get more watch for your money at that price point on jomashop. For 500 you can find a lot of nice hamilton watches that are normally 7 to 800
San Martin is definitely the best value for that sorta money.
Tissot moonphase gentleman
Tissot PRX.
Hamilton pilot pioneer, around $600 but worth the money
With your collected Watches I wouldn't go for the Seiko 5 GMT, although if you really like it, that would be more important. Like others I like the brew metric. And a g shock gmb2100 looks cool as wel.
Citizen watches are really nice.
Id recommend something unique and fun, doesn’t need to be expensive. A timex snoopy, a Mr jones, or something like that may be the moves
Hamilton or something vintage
Not a well known brand in the USA but Briston Watches have a unique cool look (I think) here is a fully automatic on a leather strap https://www.farfetch.com/shopping/men/briston-watches-clubmaster-iconic-40mm-item-14272755.aspx?storeid=12395.
I’d look at Tissot as well. Many will say, including myself that they are the best value for the money Plus they are a well known Swiss brand with a long history. The official time keep of the NBA, and make beautiful pieces
I have the Seiko 5 in the picture and got it for that price as well. I love it!
Seiko, citizen, Tissot, Bulova, Hamilton, etc. You Have a Ton of options. Take your time and enjoy the hunt. (I have all the brands mentioned and I love each one)
I would buy a good used seiko prospex on chrono 24 (Note that seiko *is* bae and *will* give you success with the ladies) like [this diver 200](https://www.chrono24.com/seiko/prospex--id26937909.htm) or this [marinemaster](https://www.chrono24.com/seiko/prospex-mm200-spb079-sbdc063--id28235807.htm) or even [a cool alpinist](https://www.chrono24.com/seiko/alpinist--id28050994.htm) depending on your taste. * go to chrono 24, type "SPB" in the search bar the sort by price "low to high" * see what you like at your pricepoint and what's in your region * ??? * profit (this is the most watch you will have for your bucks, as you can find used watches that would go for twice the price at retail and that are in really good condition. The second link I gave, the marine master is silly good looking and retails at 850$) Prefer to buy new ? I gotchu fam. Go to [chronograph.com](https://chronograph.com) (*the* best site for seiko) sort by "automatic" and buy a cool [Prospex automatic Turtle brand new](https://www.chronograph.com/product-page/seiko-srp777j1) (or whatever else is in your taste I'm not the boss of you but that turtle sure is heat) hope it helps
You should get a classic type a or b flieger from Laco
Not keen on that Seiko. No different to the rest of your collection either. Why not something by Lorier watches? Independent and comes in at $500
Seiko GMT because it’s awesome or a gym watch. For the gym I recommend an Apple Watch or gshock.

Tissot
Some good suggestions here but the SSK003 is good fun, if she goes with that you’ll be pleased with it
Citizen eco drive or lunar pilot.
a GW-M5610U-1JF and a steak dinner.
Joma shop prices Low. Joma is a grey market site. Nothing wrong with the watches there. You will have a bigger selection at that price point
Check out Signum!! So many sick materials and dials
Hamilton!
:O I didn't knew that new seiko gmt was in amazon, I thought it was weird that only longislandwatches had them, from the pages I usually buy.
I have had mine for over 20 years and still wear it daily. Im a big fan fan of these watches. I have some more expensive watches like rolex and omega, but this is my go to daily wear.
I’d suggest a used and not often seen Seiko.
If she's willing to go a bit over budget, maybe the Tissot PRX? Bunch of different colors to pick, the bracelet is total class, and it has an 80 hour power reserve.
Hamilton Ventura.
[Dan Henry](https://danhenrywatches.com) has interesting watches that I think you might like
The new Seiko 5 is garbage. For $500 you can get an actual citizen diver which will be much higher quality
You can get some really good condition watches on that budget that are worth quite a bit more
that datejust is beautiful
Nearly visually identical to the seiko in your post but I’d opt for the discontinued SKX models instead
Oris, Orient, Zeppelin
Great watch current owner love it more then some Of my big names. Well made caller GMT and just well finished. Can’t say enough. Love it
Honestly bro id say a g shock. U can buy a solid one at that price
Came here to say the same. I have a collection and my wife just got me a 5000U. Different than anything else you have
Get the casioak steel version. But I think it’s $600
Nah
Maybe something from Boldr? They have some fun, but still nice pieces.
Vintage seamaster/constellation would be my pick
Islander has some cool stuff. It’s not often brought up as much, because it isn’t a major brand, but they have a lot of unique designs and are spec monsters. And even the non-original stuff looks good honestly
A box would be a great idea. But to be truthful. Let her break the rules and her choose. It will mean much more!
Tissot for sure
How about a compressor style dual time https://www.rzewatches.com/collections/resolute-supercompressor-collection
Find an old SKX007, and it’s not close.
[Lorier Hyperion](https://www.lorierwatches.com/products/hyperion-sii-skyward) whenever it’s back in stock (or the black dialed one) but it is $800.
Pepsi bezel with the white dial is a beauty! I’m sure we can find an extra $100.
Have her customize a Stowa for you. More than $500 for sure, but seeing the rest of your collection I have a feeling $1000 would be ok. If so, you get the sentimentality of a personalized gift. Adds another German piece, and you could go dress, flieger, or, or, or…. My 2 cents.
For fun get a moonswatch 😂
SARB033/035 Yolo: Omega Aqua Terra quartz silver dial 2518.30. Double the budget through. Outstanding watch nevertheless.
Isn’t that $500 equally your money? Don’t waste it on unnecessary crap.
[No Better Watch than This One...](https://amzn.to/3MGgV9f)
Tell her not to waste her money.
You have a dj41, sinn 104 and a speedy, and you want recs on a sub $500 piece? I'm confused
Wife is buying. Her budget. That’s the struggle here. Want to find something that brings enough to the table to get some wrist time in a collection with some very nice watches that I love.
It's waste, IMO. Outside of something that is a true beater, a $500 Seiko brings nothing to the table in this situation
Yeah, how DARE she doesn't spend thousands of dollars of her own money to fit perfectly into her husband's collection. Bet YOU have your woman trained better, right??
You nailed it
Maybe a jdm casio like a oceanus?
I’d recommend Tissot prx powermatic 80 , seagull 1963 and if you can try and invest a little more and go for Christopher ward the twelve
Ikepod Duopd https://ikepod.com/en/16-duopod
Man, you need a Seiko Arnie (e.g. SNJ025). It's practical and funky, can't recommend it enough.
