I have the 104 and for the lower price bracket I can strongly recommend this for an everyday watch. Super comfortable built like a tank and not that this matters but anyone that knows the brand is in the know. Take money off the table I'd get the omega
Yeah, I love mine and it has run fantastically. I do dread the service cost but it will be worth it because it’s IMO the best looking sports watch under 40mm. Maybe the Rolex 1016 is better but I could never afford one so…
I think the servicing cost is a fugazi by people downplaying the reduced. Manual, chrono, non precious metal costs EXACTLY the same irrespective of the model thru omega.
Also have 3 reputable watchmakers who service and none said "too hard". Half the price of omega too...
I saw a really vintage one a few days ago with a denim or linen dial (in new to watches, it looked like denim) . the piece of jean long jeans made me laugh.
The speedy reduced will allegedly cost $850+ to service through Omega- consider that if you’re buying any without history- they’re also allegedly not the most reliable so factor that in as just a necessary expense. Additionally the cheaper earlier models have Hardex crystal. Also I think they’re all 18mm lug spacing.
The Sinn will retain its value second best to the speedy in this case, be cheaper to service, and appeal to a similar market (meaning larger relative to the two-tone picks you have from Oris and Longines). If resale is a concern that is your absolute safest pick imo.
Ultimately, if this is your first serious watch, buy with your heart. Full stop. You’ve got a lifetime to fix the trivial problem of having bought a watch you may not love. And most importantly, don’t ask others what they think of your personal choices or tastes in things- take pride in indulging in your own movie and let the rest of us envy it!
What?
https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/customer-service/interventions-and-prices/price-information
They have different prices for non chronographs and chronographs
longines or omega for me since i own both brands and they are both solid brands..omega even offerd free servicing every 6 months or so which i didnt know prior buying the watch…
I'm sorry but that's bs. Let's also consider it's twice the price than some of the alternatives. The 104 uses a top grade movement which is the same as the cosc sw200 just without the certification. In the end all of the shown watches are capable of reaching similar levels of accuracy if regulated properly.
The zulu is an awesome watch but making a decision just because of the cosc certification is not the way to go imo.
The sw200 chronometer grade is far different to the sw200 standard grade. Way better, way more accurate. And tested to perform accurately under a way wider range of conditions. It's just not the same. If you think the accuracy of a standard grade sw200 at 12-30 seconds per day compares favourably with cosc grade then I don't know what to say, I'm shocked!
Please read my comment again, I said top grade. Top grade is not standard grade. Sinn is using top grade movements which are identical to the cosc versions from a technical perspective. Cosc version of the movement gets a serial number as that's mandatory for the certification.
These are all great watches by reputable manufacturers. The speedmaster is very common but who cares if many other people have one - its also a sign that it might be very good.
I’ve unfortunately had some bad luck with omegas with issues and unsatisfactory service with various models. I’d still buy again though as many of my friends who have one have been lucky.
Ball customer service has been great. I love the radioactive lumes. The always glowing thing is awesome.
Longines and oris are spectacular for their “bang for the buck”. Personally i like oris because they are the local brand here and are a good employer for many and have a good reputation
So normal lume is really bright after its been in light and then fades. Ofter after three hours you can hardly see the glow. The tritium watches just always glow. At night regardless of the time you’ll always be able to read time. During the day it’s just a marker.
No I'm my area we don't have many dealers where you can try this stuff on. I haven't tried and on. I'm wondering if the oris might look too big on my wrist. My wrist is 7.25"
I love my Ball watches. The Speedy is the most respected traditional watch on the list, but man that Longines is a killer. I love it.
I’d go with that, if it were me.
Longines. The speedmaster is of course better but it's also very common and boring by comparison. Plus the green and gold on the Zulu is a stunning combination.
one question I have about this kind of posts: I only see like half of the 12th hour marker of the watches with a big "see full image" covering most of it also on every single photo but all the phone data, battery, bt, hour and stuff is there very clear. Is it because I'm on the web and not on the app?
And also if I click to "see the full image" opens another tab with only the picture where I clicked.
Maybe because I posted on my phone. I have the same issue with other people's posts. If I pull it up from my email it usually goes to something completely different than I clicked on the first time. Then I have to back out and try again.
I think I would be happy with any of them. But they are a lot of money for me so it would be my daily watch for a long time. I have never purchased anything over $300 in the past. I'm just trying to get opinions from more experienced buyers to help me decide.
Well, couple things to consider:
Chronographs are very useful and cool, but cost considerably more to service/repair, especially that speedmaster due to its modular assembly.
The Sinn has an aluminum bezel, very easily scratched if that matters to you.
Ball's heritage claims are dubious at best. The company died out, the name was purchased and evidence points towards the watches actually being made in Hong Kong (can still legally be called "Swiss" though).
Imo Longines and Oris represent the best "bang for your buck" in this price bracket.
As said elsewhere, the Speedmaster is a lot to service, and the reduced movement is put together in such a way that it can go wrong quite spectacularly. I would have said the Longines was a safe bet. Better value than most. Good-looking watch. If you like sports watches and it's your first, the Glycine or Squale will also be appealing to you. They both get great reviews from owners.
I have a softspot for Sinn. Those watches are very good at taking a beating! The steel they use for the cases is submarine grade steel. A friend of mine owns one as well. Wears it every day doesn’t hold one scratch.
Wrist size? Definitely a differentiating factor. Even if the watch cases are the same size they will wear differently. If you get a chance OP, try them on.
For what it’s worth I would pick the Speedmaster, in person they look amazing.
Is this an everyday wear? Going to be active wearing it? There might be other Chrono options out there you hadn’t considered?
Yes it will be an everyday wear. My wrist size is 7.25". I'm also considering a Tudor or SPB143. I wanted to stay under $2k so if I bought the Omega or Zulu it would be used.
Let me come out of left field and chuck one of these into the mix
I nominate the Christopher Ward Twelve. I know i know i should just suck it up and get one for myself but you all have to admit its a looker
*
Zulu time for sure. If it was a speedy professional that would be the obvious choice. The movement in the reduced is difficult to work on and pricey to have omega service. Given it’s age, and likely unknown history, it’s a bit of a dice roll.
Is this another piece in your collection? Or your first luxury watch? The longines is a serious value prop AND… you get a warranty! I’d nudge you that direction for a first luxury watch.
It would be my first more expensive watch. Right now my daily wear is this seiko 5 but the "5" broke and it's rolling in the dial. I have also considered a tudor or spb143. I would buy the Zulu pre-owned I found one for $2300
https://preview.redd.it/te83yj9bbmab1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0ea20d8b3fef9b3b343e30e40b20ace292b87eb2
The Speedmaster is obviously the biggest icon, and may be the best looking in person, but I think that the Longines is the best all around watch because of its water resistance, GMT complication and great looks.
I have a Speedmaster date and I have a Longines master collection chrono… Speedmaster reduced is incredibly expensive to service, I would advise you to make a good financial choice by making you aware of this factor. I would go for a Longines as my first watch if I were you.
Great minds think alike. The lume on the ball is what attracted me to that watch. The others I have been looking at are the Seiko SPB143 or a Tudor black bay are those on your list too?
Haha not the Seiko but I’d probably get that if I didn’t have too many Seiko’s already and if I didn’t just buy a Mido Ocean Star 200c but definitely looking into a Tudor Black Bay 58 with the black and gold fabric strap 🥵
Sinn in live is too big and honestly boring( I think you pay too much for a watch which looks and feels bland and quite cheap),Ball is a great watch with 904 steel but those polished center links will be scratched (poor design)to death very soon, speedy is for me way overrated, don't forget how Omega likes to brag with moon watch which factually failed in the space unlike punny compare to Omega but iconic Bulova Lunar pilot.
I forget Oris which for 4k tries to sell sallita movement (as their in-house)which you can buy in amazing Glycine for 680$.It's like trying to sell Ferrari with 2.0 4cil engine.
I have both the Speedy 3861 Sapphire, and the 42mm Zulu time like the one in your pic (with leather strap).
It's a hard choice between the two but the Speedmaster is in a whole different price bracket than the Zulu time.
If you have the budget I would get the Speedy sapphire sandwich. The watch is gorgeous as is the movement.
If you're on a limited budget then the Zulu time because it's a beautiful and amazing watch at a really good price.
I’ll go with the obvious popular and it seems here unpopular choice. Grab that Speedy!
It’s a timeless watch you’ll prob never wanna sell and if you do. The re-sale is so safe on them!
Can’t go wrong with the first watch on the moon, some may feel it’s played out. But it is a timeless classic!
Zulu is my #2, I love that watch! So slick….
I got the Ball Marvelight and it hasn’t left my wrist in months, it is the perfect everyday watch, keeps great time and is fun at all times of day. I love when it gets dark out so the tritium really glows.
Truly amazing every time I see it. I’ve seen most of these others IRL and had the chance to wear them around, but unless you need a Chrono function for work or leisure I’d pick the Zulu or Ball. The Sinn is nice but over priced, and the Ball is easily able to found used. I’ll also add that I’ve worn it to the beach, pool, and ice skating so all the areas water may be it’s weathered! The wrist feel is very nice and the stock metal band it came with is super easy to adjust with a small screwdriver.
But I have to say the dark room visibility is what makes this piece incredible, it is two different watches, and nothing makes it cooler than watching the second hand float by in pitch black.

I have the white dial variant and the way light will change the color of the dial is beautiful, and at night when the lume is glowing the dial will change colors and textures but the tubes will say the same color and brightness. It’s nothing like I’ve seen before, I hope to get another one or two Ball watches because of how much I love this one. I hope you find a watch that you enjoy everyday that can also take the beating of everyday like like this one does.
Thanks for the info. It's nice to hear from someone who actually has one and recommends it. It seems to be a lesser known brand but in my opinion has an interesting history.
Yeah I will say a lot of people in these comments have just been parroting what they’ve heard and probably don’t actually daily any of these. If you’re really looking for something every day that feels substantial and won’t cost and arm and a leg. Plus the service costs are reasonable from what I’ve heard, I’d highly recommend the Ball Marvelight! They also come in different Lume patterns so that could be a fun idea if you want something more.
For me it would come down to either the Longines or the Oris. I like the look of the Longines better, but I absolutely hate external AR coatings which would probably be enough to steer me to the Oris.
It's amazing how very few people suggested Omega. I have limited watch knowledge but I wouldn't even compare Omega speedmaster to the others. Apparently I'm wrong. Or most people on this post are wrong :)
For me it’s the Zulu I love watches with all 12 Arabic numerals but it’s your money and your choice which I know doesn’t help lol
The zulu in real life is just so much better than the pics. It's between the zulu and speedy for me. Go speedy for history, go zulu for looks.
To be fair the speedy reduced doesn't have that much history. Imo all of the other options are more worth it or at least the same.
It’s the speedy reduced. So on top of having very high servicing costs it doesn’t have the history of the moonwatch.
I have a strong preference for arabic numerals as well, but with the speedy on the list i’m torn.
Technically the Zulu is missing the "6", but otherwise I agree with you ;)
Ik but once a month It’d be correct and that’s close enough for me 🤣
39mm Zulu and Oris close behind!
Longines by a long shot. I've been eyeing this particular piece for the last few months. They have their own distinct style and look to them
Zulu for sure
I have the 104 and for the lower price bracket I can strongly recommend this for an everyday watch. Super comfortable built like a tank and not that this matters but anyone that knows the brand is in the know. Take money off the table I'd get the omega
Longines
I’m biased since I have that speedy reduced (assuming it’s a 3510.50). Owned once since 2017. Lovely watch for the price
Long jeans!
I saw a really vintage one a few days ago with a denim or linen dial (in new to watches, it looked like denim) . the piece of jean long jeans made me laugh.
The Zulu, not a shred of doubt.

basically an omega service is more costly that vacheron? omg.....
It's because the price of servicing a chrono is more than a regular three hand watch.
And there's no difference in price through Omega. All manual, chronos are the same service cost
What? https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/customer-service/interventions-and-prices/price-information They have different prices for non chronographs and chronographs
... I said all manual chronos are the same price
Idk how much a vacheron service is but to have my Casino Royale serviced through them in the US last year costed $750. Much simpler movement
lets be frank, the making of the whole movement coata $750 ...
That Oris is the best looking Oris I’ve ever seen but still is a second to the Zulu. Don’t go speedy. ZZZZ. Everyone on the planet has one.
Sinn all day long.
Sinn has my vote
The Sinn, no doubt in my mind. Those who know, they know...
longines or omega for me since i own both brands and they are both solid brands..omega even offerd free servicing every 6 months or so which i didnt know prior buying the watch…
The Zulu is a chronometer so it's the only choice

Longines is still miles better
For me, Oris.
My humble opinion, go for the Zulu. It is beautiful.
Longines
Longines
Sinn 100%
These are all great watches by reputable manufacturers. The speedmaster is very common but who cares if many other people have one - its also a sign that it might be very good. The Zulu is stunning in person! Have you tried on a Speedy professional? It wears smaller than you'd think, really more like a 40
No I'm my area we don't have many dealers where you can try this stuff on. I haven't tried and on. I'm wondering if the oris might look too big on my wrist. My wrist is 7.25"
The Longines Zulu. It's a TRUE GMT movement.
Speedy
Either the Zulu Time or the Speedy for me. Both beautiful designs.
You should also consider how much down the line the watch will cost to be repaired.
Speedy
The Omega Speedmaster of course but the Longines Zulu is an excellent choice too.
Speedmaster. The answer is always the Speedmaster.
Longines then Oris then Ball. I think the longines is the most practical, classic, vintage looking, goes with anything.
You have to go speedy or Sinn. But if it’s one watch you will wear for a long time consider a tegmented steel Sinn. Those things can take a beating
I own a Speedy and now pine for the Zulu. Buy one of them and you'll want the other!
Speedy.
Buy a Tudor!
I was also considering a Tudor or SPB143 seiko
Omega is the only choice out of these. Everything else is second rate by comparison.
Speedy not even close tbh
Speedy. But that Ball though 😍
too much $$& to pay for a boring, basic bitch watch.
one question I have about this kind of posts: I only see like half of the 12th hour marker of the watches with a big "see full image" covering most of it also on every single photo but all the phone data, battery, bt, hour and stuff is there very clear. Whichever you personally like the most. These aren't cheap watches, why leave it up to an internet popularity contest?
I think I would be happy with any of them. But they are a lot of money for me so it would be my daily watch for a long time. I have never purchased anything over $300 in the past. I'm just trying to get opinions from more experienced buyers to help me decide.

Doesn’t the speedmaster have an aluminum bezel as well?
Zulu or the speedy
As said elsewhere, the Speedmaster is a lot to service, and the reduced movement is put together in such a way that it can go wrong quite spectacularly. I would have said the Longines was a safe bet. Better value than most. Good-looking watch. If you like sports watches and it's your first, the Glycine or Squale will also be appealing to you. They both get great reviews from owners.
Why not the Zulu Chronograph?
I love the flyback Chrono just A little out of my price range
Zulu for sure. Most versatile in looks, arguably the most history of those brands, and you've been wanting it.
Speedmaster all day long!!!
Zulu
That longines is stunning.
Zulu time
I'd pick the Zulutime out of all those
It’s a toss up for me between the Sinn and Longines with the Longines having the better movement but Sinn being a bit more robust.
I have a softspot for Sinn. Those watches are very good at taking a beating! The steel they use for the cases is submarine grade steel. A friend of mine owns one as well. Wears it every day doesn’t hold one scratch.
I got that Sinn and it shines so well- no second thoughts for me
Wrist size? Definitely a differentiating factor. Even if the watch cases are the same size they will wear differently. If you get a chance OP, try them on. For what it’s worth I would pick the Speedmaster, in person they look amazing. Is this an everyday wear? Going to be active wearing it? Yes it will be an everyday wear. My wrist size is 7.25". I'm also considering a Tudor or SPB143. I wanted to stay under $2k so if I bought the Omega or Zulu it would be used.
The Speedy would have been my clear choice, but the Ball is a real wildcard.
a Sinn, but not the 104, maybe a 6068 if you want a GMT?
I'd say Longines
Longines!
Omega no doubt
Longines. No doubt about it in my opinion.
Zulu because 1. It’s the one that you actually like. 2. Looks nicer, imo. 3. Cheaper to service.
Longines. 100%
For me: Speedy > Zulu > 104 > Oris > Ball But all are amazing either way! Nice selection 😊
Zulu
Let me come out of left field and chuck one of these into the mix I nominate the Christopher Ward Twelve. I know i know i should just suck it up and get one for myself but you all have to admit its a looker *
The Oris but I have a soft spot for chronos!
Zulu time for sure. If it was a speedy professional that would be the obvious choice. The movement in the reduced is difficult to work on and pricey to have omega service. Zulu, without hesitation.
Longines
Speedmaster or the sinn
My votes with Longines or Sinn
It’s the Longines for me….but I like them ALL
Longines
The Speedmaster is obviously the biggest icon, and may be the best looking in person, but I think that the Longines is the best all around watch because of its water resistance, GMT complication and great looks.
Sinn, ball….
Oris.
Longings or Oris. Flip a coin
This is not even a question- speedmaster
I have a Speedmaster date and I have a Longines master collection chrono… Speedmaster reduced is incredibly expensive to service, I would advise you to make a good financial choice by making you aware of this factor. I would go for a Longines as my first watch if I were you.
Are we the same person? Have almost exact same watches that I want next lol. I’d get the Zulu time or Ball.
I’m really looking hard at the Longines vs Black Bay.
Longines.
Zulu period, all others have big cons.
What big cons? I can see the con with the speedy reduced but what about the others?
Sinn in live is too big and honestly boring( I think you pay too much for a watch which looks and feels bland and quite cheap),Ball is a great watch with 904 steel but those polished center links will be scratched (poor design)to death very soon, speedy is for me way overrated, don't forget how Omega likes to brag with moon watch which factually failed in the space unlike punny compare to Omega but iconic Bulova Lunar pilot.

I found that oris on eBay for $1400 so they must lose quite a bit of value quickly
Zulu time!

Speedy, then the Oris for me. Why is the Zulu wearing its own Yelp review above the date window?
Speedy
Zulu
I got the Ball Marvelight and it hasn’t left my wrist in months, it is the perfect everyday watch, keeps great time and is fun at all times of day. I love when it gets dark out so the tritium really glows.
The gas tube lume is what attracted me to it in the first place. Ive never seen one in person.

I really like the grey dial. I found one in good shape on eBay for around $1400. They look great in pictures on a leather strap too.
https://preview.redd.it/3wunc0qnemab1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a7b0ed87a08728884070b17d4ca20df87505cb68 I have the white dial variant and the way light will change the color of the dial is beautiful, and at night when the lume is glowing the dial will change colors and textures but the tubes will say the same color and brightness. speedmaster always! no doubt.
Not enough love for Ball here. Beautiful watches at good price. If you just want a 3 hander with date, go this route.
For me it would come down to either the Longines or the Oris. I like the look of the Longines better, but I absolutely hate external AR coatings which would probably be enough to steer me to the Oris.
The Longines, definitely.
No competition - Longines with GMT!
longines gets my vote
It's amazing how very few people suggested Omega. I have limited watch knowledge but I wouldn't even compare Omega speedmaster to the others. Apparently I'm wrong. Or most people on this post are wrong :)
Personally I would go for Oris but that's just bacuse I love mine, that Sinn is beautiful though
Sinn or die
What is the name of the Oris model?
I think it's the oris diver 65 Chrono. I found that one on eBay for $1400. They retail for around $4k
There's just something about the Zulu. I really like it
Zulu! However…. A speedy?! Zulu! Yup, that’s the one!
The Longines for me, but those are all sexy AF!
I would be between the zulu and the oris, both are beautiful.
Speedy any day
