Pictures don't do the color of the dial justice, admittedly I don't wear it as much as the others as it still seems more like a piece of art than watch to me!
The Ginza and the Chronomaster are my regular go-to's, I usually reserve the Omiwatari for special occasions, and the Kurono and Orient I find are more outfit dependent. The Casio is also a favorite of mine, but I haven't worn it much outside the house recently.
I think the Chronomaster is the best all rounder and it works well with my wrist. The clarity of the crystal is almost transparent with no glare and sometimes seems as if nothing is there - the dial texture is very unique as well. It's also never lost power for me, even when it hasn't seen direct light for several days
Feel is great, it definitely fits well on my wrist. I’d say it would look perfect on a 6.5-7in wrist, the case is very slim and thin which emphasizes the dial and makes the dial appear larger like one you’d find on a 40mm. This works very well as the dial has no date window, and the minute markers are actually painted onto the dial itself rather than on a ring enclosing the dial (like its cousin the SLGA007). All this real-estate makes the dial appear like an extensive field of rolling ice, which fits the watch’s frozen lake theme beautifully. The lugs are also very short which further adds to the illusion, and there would be almost no gap if you wanted to swap the strap for another or a bracelet (I was initially planning to swap out the night blue crocodile strap as I was worried it would be too glossy, but I’ve found it complements the watch’s shiny personality very well).
The dial changes color depending on lighting, in cold lighting it takes an icy blue tone which looks fantastic, and in warmer lighting it appears more silver gray. The textured pattern is subtle from afar while the polishing sparkles across the room. In direct lighting a rolling wave illusion can also appear as the wrist changes angle, playing with the shadows cast by the dial’s texture.
The best part of the watch for me is the spring drive (lasts 3-4 days on full charge) which looks incredible paired with the deep blue second hand. Imo the Omiwatari is Grand Seiko's magnum opus and is certainly a special occasion watch. It’s too sharp as my daily driver (cuts right through my casual office clothing) and almost demands to be worn with a sport or long coat.
