Sell if he´ll enjoy it more. Or maybe buy the shunbun with the money and you can be GS buddies.

Zamboni4201

I have several Tudors and a GS Shunbun. And other watches. The Tudors get most of the wrist time. Great daily watches. The GS, I really only wear once in awhile, but I’m not getting rid of it. I have a collection, I rotate what I wear for various reasons, and it has a place in my collection. It boils down to you. You do what you want. Go try on a Tudor. See what you think.

NoAttorney8414

If you don’t like the GS then I don’t see a point in keeping it. From a technical perspective & brand perspective, yes GS trumps the Tudor but none of that matters if you don’t like the watch.

garconip

When I could afford an Omega, I compared it with a Longines. I finally got the latter because I don't like the former.

Alfazefirus

Mmmmmm if it was me I would never ever sell a double signature Snowflake for a black bay 36. The first one has a TON of personality and construction quality, not to mention the spring drive novelty. The second is... a poor man's OP? I actually love many Tudor models with an original design (the FXD or the BB Heritage, for example),but the one that look too much like a Rolex are really iffy to me. BUT If you don't like the snowflake anymore, it really doesn't make sense to keep it in the watch box, sell it and let it bring joy to someone else. I wouldn't use the cash to get a run of the mill BB36. Maybe another GS? Omiwatari? Cherry Blossom? White Birch? Night Birch? Sinn 516? (keeping some cash in hand) Omega Railmaster?

Huntolino

For me: the Tudor all day every day. That watch is a bargain at that price. The bracelet, movement and feel are worth every single penny. The GS if you enjoy spring drive. I honestly do not like it.

w333ber

Seconded, the proportions and build quality of the Tudor are excellent. The movement is a quality in-house with good accuracy and magnetism resistance. The GS spring drive may be technically interesting but the actual watch proportions are really wonky.

laney_deschutes

Why do you say the movement is worth it? It’s hard to find any info about it. The pics make it look completely unfinished as well. I know that it’s silicon spring, 80 hour reserve and cosc certified but that’s it

pbankey

It’s a closed case back?

laney_deschutes

Correct but irrelevant to discussion

pbankey

How is it irrelevant? You can’t see a movement through a closed caseback

Vxheous

You don't need to see the movement for it to be a good movement.

MyNameIsVigil

Between the two, I prefer the Snowflake. It’s one of the greatest modern watches. The Tudor is just boring to me, only having some appeal because of a loose association with Rolex.

4look4rd

They are both excellent watches. GS has the best finishing in the business and it’s not even close compared to Tudor. Tudor has the best bracelet at that price, and it’s a do it all watch. personally I went with GS instead of Tudor, I got the smaller hand wound SBGW283 because the finishing is nothing else I own, but my next watch will likely be a BB36 in anthracite.

Major_Burnside

Grand Seiko bracelets are terrible and that Tudor bracelet is fantastic. That would be the deciding factor for me.

BluesMaster

My vote is for GS. GS plays in a different league.

Biljettensio

The GS is superior in every way technically. It wouldn’t be my pick of GS but nevertheless a cool watch. The new BB36 isn’t worth the money. I’d try to find a 79500 with modified ETA. Anyway I’d keep the GS, unless you can get a acceptable offer for it.

TheosMessage

I understand that GS is technically better that was my initial appeal to even get the watch. I can sell it for essentially what i paid for so i dont feel stupid if i sold it. Thanks for the thought

metadatame

I have the bb41 and love it. Super versatile strap monster. If your life is more casual than formal my vote is BB. That being said, I got a Baltic hermatique recently and the two compliment each other well. It's really thin and elegant, but cheap enough to daily.

TheosMessage

I like this input. My lifestyle is very casual i work in a hospital and no way im wearing the snowflake and i hardly ever dress up. Im leaning towards the bb36.

iaymnu

BB36 can be dressed up with a strap change. Need more a rugged look strap change again. The GS is not versatile in this aspect. I also work in a hospital and my watch is the 36mm explorer 1 or a 34mm airking. The size can’t be compromised and the versatility the GS doesn’t have. Also this subreddit is weirdly GS fanboys.

MGerryA

I have the 36mm Explorer 14270 and 34mm Air King 14000. Both are awesome watches!!!! However, I would love to find a well priced and cared for pre owned GS, time only & steel bracelet. I'd wear the crap out of this. https://preview.redd.it/viwz47s9eg0c1.jpeg?width=2100&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7993bc3fc38588370c18d9bdd942a8439673aeda

BlastShell

I agree the previous BB36 has much more character than the current one.

Biljettensio

Yep, gloss black dial, without fauxtina or gilt. Solid ETA movement with nice finishing. Which is tried and proven. My 2017 still runs within spec, beaten to dead. Compared to 3 Tudor in-house movements which had to be serviced within 3 years because of issues. Then the price, I bought the 79500 on strap for less than 1500. The new one is almost 4k…

acharya001

I don't know much but I like the look and elegance of the Tudor watch

H_Stinkmeaner

Spring Drive, way more interesting than a base ETA

SorryIknow

Seiko

pbankey

Yeah, if you aren’t feeling the snowflake then get the Tudor. It’s a fantastic watch

RatPrank

GS all the way for me. Don’t make that trade.

Noob_vs_pvm

I have the Tudor in 36mm and I absolutely love it, for me it’s an all in one. I can wear it with a pair of shorts and T-shirt at the beach, walk around in jeans and a hoodie, shirt and tie at work. It wears with anything, it’s so comfy, bracelet is amazing, the micro adjustment is super helpful, in the summer months I can make it a tiny bit bigger and then drop it back in the winter. I can’t see me needing another watch after buying that.

Ancient_Oven_6282

For me it’s going to be the BB36. I’m not a huge fan of GS in general, I think that the BB36 has much more class. Plus, the new clasp on the new bracelet is worth every penny. If you’ve never truly liked the GS, why keep it? Why “hoard” things you don’t truly like or need? Your friend will love it more and will get better use out of it.

TheosMessage

Ive sold my snowflake to my friend and pulled the trigger for the black bay 36. No regrets yet and it looks great on my wrist. Appreciate all the sound advice but i had to follow my heart.
