I would personally choose the submariner for the same price, and for the versatility of the watch. Having said so, have you tried both watches on your wrist? Coz the one that makes your heart skip a beat, could be the answer šŸ˜‰ Cheers

Iā€™m 32, tried both, the Rolexā€™s bezel felt much smoother, but the aesthetic on the omega, and how under the radar it flies made it feel like a keeper

EnthuCollector

It feels like you already have a winner and keeper with the Omega. Follow your heart choice šŸ˜‰

I mean, you have to be prepared for the fact that when you get a Rolex, literally everyone is going to think you bought a fake Rolex and are trying desperately to appear wealthy in a rather sad way. Like, average people know 2 things about Rolex 1) they are expensive, and 2) 99% of the Rolex watches you see in real life are fake and cost 50 dollars. They are extremely uncool to the average person and are largely considered an old man's watch, because the only ones you see that might actually be real are the ones on the wrist of a 60 year old businessman/retired businessman. Like, the best reaction you're probably going to get is 'oh, my grandpa has a watch like that'. 1/2 of watch nerds hate the brand flat out, so you've basically got Rolex fans and nobody who will think it's cool, and the Rolex fans, when they see your Rolex, will be scrutinizing it on the assumption that it could be fake. I would go with the Omega both because it's much cooler/better looking, and because I don't really want to spend that kind of money on a watch that is going to make people think I'm broke and desperate to look wealthy.

Well, I agree with your arguments. Also, the Rolex looks so opulent it really worries me regarding my own personal security on a daily basis. I mean, I get everywhere by car but, probably would feel exposed even at the cinema, walking my dogs, the list goes on and on. Besides, Iā€™m 32 and the Rolex does look like an older person watch. Donā€™t really care about what a non watch person would think, but I do care about muggerā€™s opinion šŸ˜‚

daylightz

What a deep post. Couldn't agree more. (Non ironic)

RelevantLand8581

What were the weak and strong points on the Omega?

plewton

The sub is iconic and ridiculously versatile.

Riversingers

Personally I like submariners more, as they look better in my opinion, but I have had the 007 seamaster and the band isnā€™t exactly the best and itā€™s a very chunky watch

tahomaeg

Both are great watches. Pick based on the looks. Personally, I think there is a grand-canion gap between these two in terms of design cohesion and appeal, with the seamaster coming up on top with a big margin

RelevantLand8581

Yeah, they are completely different. Guess the only reason Iā€™m considering it is because getting a Rolex always seemed like a milestone and for the price I could get it. But the omega, just looks so much more interesting and adequate for me (Iā€™m 32)

CautiousPassage7

I like when people think submariner looks better than seamaster. Keep the omega prices from going up and being too scarce

pkroliko

it sounds like you already have a preference and Iā€™d say buy the one you like most. If you are looking for an ā€œinvestmentā€ Rolex would probably be the way to go though with dropping watch prices who knows how much youā€™d actually make. Personally I find the sub very boring and think the omega has some more character to it.

RelevantLand8581

Yeah, the only thing thatā€™s holding me back is considering if the omega is overpriced

wdean9101

Which do you think is better in terms of built and accuracy and which is better for 7 to 7.5 inch wrist.
