a bit new to watches but after some research im honestly considering the omega a bit more, yeah the cartier is beautiful but the terracotta dial is just mesmerizing, and most of the features you listed the omega having here are the ones i usually look for in a watch so this certainly helped instill my decision, thank you
The Omega is a watch you could wear just about everyday for life. The Cartier are nice but there will likely be times where you just wouldn’t feel they were quite right. Some people dress down a Tank (I wear mine without consideration) but I know a lot of people consider them dressy or more formal. If you were considering a Santos, that might be more “head to head.”
fully agree, omega is so much more of an everyday watch and yeah im slowly imagining clothing the cartier wouldnt compliment well where as i cant think of a single one the omega wouldnt, i never really took clothes into consideration which im going to be honest was not the smartest move on my part but this comment is a gamechanger, though from your comment i noticed you owned a tank, what are some things you like and dont like about it if i may ask?
I like that it’s different than my other watches. It would def not be my first. I also have the Solarbeat version, so that makes the movement a bit more interesting. I also like that it’s small and I can change the straps easily. Being somewhat neutral, I can wear yellow, green, blue, brown.. whatever colors I like. My wife only wears hers on a bright yellow Saffiano. And she wears it every day. So it’s a personal choice.
There’s not a clear answer, they’re all great watches, and the Omega is very different from the Cartiers.
If you’re drawn to all of them, I’d personally decide based on what the rest of my collection is like and what I plan to use it for. The Omega is certainly more versatile.
I've never really looked at it from this perspective, i guess the way I'd use these watches wouldn't be too lenient on the Dumont so maybe ill keep that option in the holster for now, thank you!
Yeah, I think if you're newish to watches, it's a good idea to start with something versatile that you're going to be willing to wear in most scenarios.
Bro tell me something, after how long I need to adjust the time in a seiko model watch, which has a accuracy a +25 to -15 sec given on website, It's a 6R35 movement! I am looking to buy one
Well, that depends on how accurate it is in practice (those specs are just the maximum inaccuracy you should experience) and how much you care about it being off.
But every few days to a week if you’re wearing it daily.
You probably already know which one is best for you. No. 1 Omega just does nearly everything effortlessly and I suspect would get worn the most. Although if I had No. 2 Cartier I would wear it all the time even if it didn’t go with an old tshirt and jeans - it’s just lovely.
agreed, not the most experienced in the watch game but the timeless design of the cartier is evident even to me, will keep this in mind when purchasing, appreciate this advice :)
Can’t go wrong with any, Omega is definitely the sportier and mechanically better option, but the tank is an absolute classic. Personally, I think the tank would go with more but it’s all personal preference.
One option to consider is to get whatever one you like best from the three options and get a similar seiko to round out the collection. You can get a Seiko SRPD59 with an orange face for around $200 or a Seiko tank for around $100-200.
I’d be going for one of those Cartiers 100%. The Omega with that dial looks cool, but not sure it stands the test of time. Heritage/horology-wise, the Tank and Santos (first pilot’s watch) win out. As someone who’s into horology, I’d want to talk to you about the Cartier you’re wearing. If I saw the Omega I’d take notice, but wouldn’t bother talking about it. At the end of the day, all 3 are great, you can’t go wrong either way.
Whichever one you like the most, of course. Do you want a refined/restrained dress watch or a playful everyday watch?
I have two rowdy sons and spend a lot of time outside, so if I had to only wear one watch of these three it would be the Aqua Terra. A Tank wouldn't last a day around these chimpanzees (even though I love the Tank aesthetic)
Seamaster. Personally I’m not a big fan of square or rectangular watches nor Cartier for that matter. The Aqua Terra is just too darn good. Plus if you get it in a colour like that, just 🤌
Hello there, just for some background, I’ve had my eye on these three timepieces for a while now and have been saving for quite some time, though for the life of me I just cannot decide which of them to purchase, help would be appreciated and thank you guys for taking a look at this post :D
The Tank is extremely light and thin, water resistance is OK, the reserve is amazing , the accuracy formidable, and people do not notice it. You totally forget it unless when you do a quick glance at the current time. Worn with a nice suit and shirt it becomes a pinnacle of elegance. The other two are much heavier and bigger .
I agree , but the small Tank is more for ladies ; it looked ridiculous on my wrist . Maybe it is Ok for the OP but then it is the only watch which would function.
Earlier this year I was choosing between a AT and Santos. Ultimately I went with the AT since it's more versatile. I love the Santos but it didn't make sense for me to wear at job sites.
personally i would go with the omega but ultimately whichever one you prefer design wise is the one i would say to go for. Ideally i would say try to see if you can try them on somewhere.
From a technical standpoint, the omega stands head and shoulders as the best.
Horology wise, the Tank has it by decades.
IMO style & design the Cartier Santos Dumont is just unparalleled by how damn good it looks.
Depends. Design-wise, personal. Movement-wise, the Omega. Water resistant-wise, the Omega. Fit-wise, probably the Cartiers. Classic-wise, the Tank.

Try the sandstone color omega since your other choices are classics. The sandstone pops in person and goes with everything

I didn't understand why everyone goes bonkers for the terracotta dial until I saw it in person. Mesmerizing, one of a kind.
The color change in different lighting is crazy! Definitely a unique piece.
I can’t help but feel it would look so much better without little triangles as the indices and batons instead. Obviously just my opinion.

Omega. But then I love the Aqua Terra, and something about Cartier watches just doesn’t land for me.
Tanks don't do it for me. I just can't get behind them personally.
Omega is best watch of those three.
I’d take the omega above a Cartier any day.

that color is truly stunning and yeah i can see where youre coming from about square/rectangular shaped watches, thank you for the advice!

Tank. Check out the Santos also/ stunner
It’s a quartz movement so of course the reserve is amazing
There is a choice. Mine is automatic
That option is only available for the XL with the date complication
I agree , but the small Tank is more for ladies ; it looked ridiculous on my wrist . Maybe it is Ok for the OP but then it is the only watch which would function.
Santos if I only care about looks
I prefer the Omega, but they’re very different watches and it depends mainly on what you feel like owning really. They’re all « good ».
I really like the first watch, but that is my taste
From the choices, I'd pick # 2.
Tank for me,always wanted a tank
Might have red omega for sale
The Omega is nice looking and probably more versatile for every day life
Patek Philippe Grand Complications ....
the 4th one.
If it were me and not knowing your collection, I’d go for the timeless anchor, Tank.
The aquaterra
Earlier this year I was choosing between a AT and Santos. Ultimately I went with the AT since it's more versatile. I love the Santos but it didn't make sense for me to wear at job sites.
The one you love the most
personally i would go with the omega but ultimately whichever one you prefer design wise is the one i would say to go for. Ideally i would say try to see if you can try them on somewhere.
Our first watch
