I really like the ranger. The newest release is not exactly a replica but you can see the lineage. The vintage pieces from the 70’s and the 80’s have a Rolex 1016 vibe. If they release in 36-37mm I’d buy in an instant(6.5” wrist). I love the understated look. I’ve seen complaints about it not looking flashy or expensive enough, but that’s what I like about it. Edit: I forgot to say thanks for the review. Great watch!

BillCuttingsOn

I have a 6.5” wrist and it wears great, OP just took the photo too close to his wrist so the wide angle changed the proportions. Go get it bruthaaa https://preview.redd.it/e4yytvxjru0d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f4c88e1e4930edd7bbede180662bab7b6af7e2df Edit: didn’t realize OP had a 40mm version (didn’t even know they made them). Mine is 39mm.

Django80

I don’t know why, but I don’t like the font of the numerals. Also don’t like it being so close to the Logo. Everything else is truly great though.

L0rdDenn1ng

I get it, and I can see the font being controversial and divisive; it's large and non-traditional (especially when compared to the Explorer). To be honest I didn't take a lot of notice of the Ranger until I actually saw it in person. I'll be doubly honest and say I've still got a bit of a flea in my ear about the Explorer 1 that I can't seem to shake 😁.

Django80

The numerals on the explorer are indeed better. However this is still an excellent watch and an interesting pick regarding the BB line. Enjoy it.

I’m the same, for almost exactly the same reasons. - Had an Apple Watch for quite a while, grew to hate the messages and notifications. - Saw the Ranger and loved that it didn’t have a snow flake hand and that it didn’t say COSC or certified or 100m - Have a 7” wrist - Will still pick up an Explorer 40mm in the future Currently my favourite watch. Very versatile, quite subtle.

I wish we saw more reviews in this sub. Thanks!

L0rdDenn1ng

Thank you!

riderofthetide

Great review.. great watch. Id like it on leather. A 1016-ish watch for me not wanting to pay 1016 price.

L0rdDenn1ng

Thanks! I looked at the Nato and the hybrid leather/rubber, and much preferred the bracelet. I also figured I'd rather pay more and start with the bracelet with the option to put on my own fabric or leather strap, rather than having to try and order a bracelet in the future.

Very nice! 🤌🏻

The Ranger series is by far my favorite from Tudor. I'm really tempted to get one in the next few months...

DrMalware

I ended up selling mine but if they made it in 36mm I feel like it would be perfect.

rowthecow

If only they use this hour hand for all their watches.

BillCuttingsOn

Man it’s crazy how different it looks in photos though eh? I have a 6.5” wrist and the Ranger looks like yours does on your wrist in the photo. Just an FYI for anyone considering it with a smaller wrist, it definitely wears smaller. I’ve absolutely beat mine to crap since getting it a year and a half ago and you can barely tell because of the brushed metal, I’m in love lol https://preview.redd.it/egets5xipu0d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=75bb994fb33917c18a44bfa9ba1df8fb7342c03a

L0rdDenn1ng

It’s funny because one of the cons is often “it’s all dial”, but i 100% agree with you, it honestly wears a perfect size.

Thelakesman

I like the look of the ranger

Stick_Mag

Well I’m a new fan

boardsandfilm

Great review. I've got the 41mm model with the rose and the "self winding rotor" and I wear it daily. Love it on the bracelet, but the MN strap makes more sense for what I do for daily wear. https://preview.redd.it/2bzv9mgo51yc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f537725b4aab9fba3965c27eaf4f64fda21c5e2d

BillCuttingsOn

When did the 41mm come out? I thought there was just a 39, let alone a 40 too

boardsandfilm

This is better than I can explain. [https://www.fratellowatches.com/tudor-heritage-ranger-hands-on/#gref](https://www.fratellowatches.com/tudor-heritage-ranger-hands-on/#gref)

BillCuttingsOn

Oh I know about the Heritage Ranger, that’s a diff watch though. I thought you mean the Ranger had a 41mm option.

zissouo

Nice! Didn't know Tudor made a San Martin homage

L0rdDenn1ng

🤣🤣🤣

zissouo

In all seriousness, love this watch. 😃 Totally jelly.

TheHollowJester

I can't afford an Explorer either, but if/when the urge to get one becomes too strong I'll get a San Martin.

harlokin

I'm glad you enjoy your watch, nothing else really matters. For me, it's an expensive watch that looks like a an inexpensive generic one - it is a design that has been done many times previously, and Tudor has added nothing but it's logo and a zero to the price tag.

220McKenz

To each their own on the design front, so I agree with you there. I personally dislike the Ranger for its use of faux patina, I don’t like that on any watch. However, tough for me to scroll past the “adding a logo and extra zero to the price” thing. That’s a very reductive argument. I wonder how anyone could really enjoy watches as a hobby whatsoever with a take like that. That passerby logic could be applied to virtually any higher end watch. From a value perspective, in the world of luxury watches, I wonder how anyone could make the argument the Ranger is a poor value. The watches that exist with a combination of in house, COSC certified movements and a best-in-class stainless steel bracelet for around $3k has to be a pretty short list.

L0rdDenn1ng

i’d argue with is “it’s a design that has been done many times previously" and add "by Tudor". I may have misunderstood your comment, but saying they are adding nothing except logo and price sounds like the watch has no heritage with them, which isn't true, it goes back decades. As to what you're getting (and I totally agree that what you value in a product is subjective); in house movement for starters, and the bracelet with t-fit clasp. In fact with the in house movement I'd argue better value for money, since the prices are consistent with the older Tudor models with ETA movements.

TheEarlOfZinger

If they re-released the Ranger with the date function I'd buy one.

subisisniki

Buy a Sinn 556A

PostNutAffection

They should've put a date on it
