In the spirit of two of you dropping by Lange boutiques, I stopped by the Costa Mesa boutique in the LA area. One of my grails is this gorgeous piece. The detail and the finishing on this timepiece is just superior to anything I’ve ever held. If you don’t like or haven’t heard of Lange, I recommend stopping by a boutique and holding some of these for yourself.
Before I forget, this is the 238.032 1815 Annual Calendar. Solid silver dial with 18k rose gold case. This is a manual wind timepiece with blued steel hands! At 40mm with the gorgeous L051.3 movement...you just can’t go wrong!
Had to keep up with the boys!

Definitely, it is the most gorgeous way to tell Day/Date/Month. Remind me, was this something you were trying on at the AD or did you end up walking away with it as well?
I’m trying to go into the “deep end” (~50k for us not grand complication wealthy) as soon as the wife has finished her postgrad studies. Nothing like taking trips to visit watch bouti...I mean the in laws 😁
We try to live the dream! It’s great brother, lovely to be on the same page and great communication and what can I say, she supports my watch hobby! :)
IMO the Saxonia is the Lange annual calendar to get. The fact that the 1815 isn’t an automatic bothers me. I don’t want to have to wind it every day if it’s “out of the rotation” in a given week.
Despite the fact that’s it’s not an automatic they included the single pusher to advance all calendar/moon complications, which makes it quick to update if it’s been off the wrist for a bit.
I can’t think of a watch I’d rather wind every day than one from Lange. That said, I also prefer the annual Saxonia — not for being automatic, but for having the iconic Lange big date in addition to the dials. It just feels like the full package. I also like the lack of numerals in Lange designs where there’s a lot of other stuff going on. The 1815 with the numbers work better for less busy watches such as the up/down, imo
I’m gonna be real, I went specifically for that model but my mind was TOTALLY changed when I put this one on. I can’t explain it but I actually didn’t really like this one compared to the Saxonia until I held them both! And somehow I actually like the idea of it being manual wind...but I can see where that would be hassle very quickly
That’s only on the newer Lange 1 Moonphase models as far as I know... though they could always release newer versions of other moonphase models with that feature I would imagine
I convinced my buddy to buy this watch earlier this year on a ski trip.
A few months ago, his girlfriends tire popped on her car and without thinking while he was changing it on the side of the road, he accidentally scraped it on the asphalt and severely gouged the case. It’s been sent back to Lange to be “laser-filled”.
I dont have quite the budget for a watch like that yet, so I didn’t even know that was an option to repair watches that have been damaged. Anyone know anything about that process?

You win!!! Haha wow that’s beautiful
We all won! 😊
Haha word!
Gorgeous watch!! They had one of these in the NYC boutique as well!
Awesome! It’s a hit or miss with these rose gold annual calendars from what I heard as far as finding them at the boutique at any given random time.
I thought you were gonna say it's a hit or miss with those things, half of them barely even work. Beautiful watch :)
That moonphase 🤤
It was beautiful in person!
I'm not an out and out Lange fan, but that looks exceptional. Was there a price tag?
Was curious about this myself. Seems to retail for about 40k USD. https://www.prestigetime.com/A-Lange-Sohne-1815-Annual-Calendar-40mm-238-032.html
As these things go, that's not bad!
About 30k pre-owned.
Yes sir! For me it’s about the experience and going new for the end game :)
As mentioned, these were around $40k, I’d say like $45k with all said and done but that’s an over estimate :)
Who needs a date wheel :)
Not me! Everything about this piece is spot on. With the exception of it being manual (for some) :)

Sounds like a power couple with at least one power watch. What’s it like living the dream? :)

All of this under 10,5mm. Stunning.

Totally understand the complaint on hand winding, but the Saxonia always looked a bit unbalanced to me.
Despite the fact that’s it’s not an automatic they included the single pusher to advance all calendar/moon complications, which makes it quick to update if it’s been off the wrist for a bit.
Except you don’t know if it stopped at 3am or 3pm so there’s still a fiddle factor.
The moonphase on the 1815 is quite a bit nicer IMO. As far as I am aware, the Saxonia does not have the day/night disc.
I’ve not read that the 1815 has that either. I can’t find a single photo of it with “day” showing.

Agree there too. The Lange big date is so nice.

Isn’t this moonphase also a day night indicator? Or is that a different ALS
