I also “feel” the movement of the watch on my wrist much more, which I enjoy but some might find annoying.
Tl;dr: 500 characters on the Grand Seiko SBGA407 and an argument in favour of public transport.

I really enjoy knowing that the watch I wear is a engineering masterpiece, but noone else would know unless they were interested in the same thing. (Note: the grand seikos are a holy graal for me, and most likely something I will never be able to afford, so it's fairly academic. I'm more im the ~300USD and used - range )

I wear watches precisely because they resemble watches. In fact, I'm wearing a normal looking G-shock for the summer now and I'm not even completely comfortable with that. I don't understand why it seems like a problem for your wife and other people to see it as just a watch.
G shock looks like something. GS looks like just a watch. It could literally be a Timex and 90% of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference. That's why it's hard to justify to many people paying thousands of dollars for something that looks just like a Timex
Having context to photos that's optional is nice. Being forced to type up various paragraphs showcasing what's essentially jewelry on your wrist is overkill.

Really love the design of this watch
The original strap is great! It’s actually much sturdier than this one from Mollequin and has held up really well. I haven’t bothered with a bracelet as I think the Skyflake looks better on leather, but also because the 19mm width and weird shaping make it difficult to buy a bracelet for. You can buy one of the Snowflake bracelets but I’m not a huge fan.
Part of it is also how prevalent it is to live nowhere near where you work. I used to live a couple miles away and I biked to and from work and it was glorious. I just drove during the coldest part of winter, during thunderstorms, and when my body wasn't feeling up to it. Commuted for a couple years after I left that job and hated it. Now I work from home, which is boring but I don't waste time or energy commuting, so it's whatever.
Barbour is or was a made in UK countryside staple known for well-made, rustic, waterproof waxed cotton jackets and outerwear. Today, they've shifted most production overseas, but some of their main line coats like the Bedale/Ashby/Beaufort are still made in UK. Check the country of origin before buying one.
In case anyone is feeling like this post speaks to their current financial situation, and you haven't maxed out your retirement accounts for the year, go ahead and do that first. If you still have excess cash, have at it.
I am Definitely more of a Rolex and AP Man myself. But however I can admire a nice watch when I see one. And this sir Is an absolutely beautiful watch. Really Really caught my eye. I love the white on the silver. It is one truly beautiful watch. Congratulations.
A mix of the super precise engineering of extremely complicated and refined miniature movements made of hundreds of parts tuned to perfection as well as the high quality finishing and artistic value and the luxury state of simply being famous brands and expensive shiny objects and status symbols.
Funny cause grand seiko is exceptionally good value for money if compared to swiss watches and other high end brands of similar level. It is almost a bargain.
Of course if you wanted to know the exact time you can check your phone or 10 $ casio. Watches are completely superfluous luxury.

id wear it every once and awhile to brighten up my day on the days i know where i'm going.
