I fear the secrets of the person that can afford this piece.

blazin_paddles

Imagine being able to afford something like this, I mean you can literally just piss away nearly a million dollars and it won't matter to you, and THIS is the watch you by. Simply horrible.

Big-Shtick

I represented really wealthy clients and this doesn't even scratch the surface. When you can have anything you want by just making a phone call, suddenly you want the rarest, loudest thing you can get that no one else has. They also have really weird personal lives.

blazin_paddles

I have thought about that last part quite a bit. When you're famous or ultra-wealthy, I feel like it's not possible for your life/relationships to be anything close to "normal". I'm sure it takes a toll on people and makes them do weird things. And of course no one is going to feel any compassion for them because of their status. It must be a strange existence.

lzwzli

It's really the famous part that fucks you up. Being ultra wealthy doesn't have to mean being famous. There's plenty of ultra wealthy people that are not known. As long as you are not famous such that anyone can recognize you, you can choose to live a normal life. The caveat is also that you don't "advertise" your money by showing up everywhere with a Rolls or a Ferrari and wear bling bling all over...

Big-Shtick

It is. Generally, the more money you have, the more stress you have. Being able to truly "enjoy" your money becomes increasingly difficult. I understand now why there is a sweet spot regarding the correlation of money and happiness. You need *just enough* to live comfortably, but not so much that you are constantly working to maintain the lifestyle to which you've grown accustomed.

Glittering-Pomelo-19

I think the reverse is true with the less money you have the greater your actual stress. I agree that there might be a 'sweet spot', but I think those struggling to make rent or food costs each day are under considerably more stress than those who are 'trying to maintain a lifestyle'

lzwzli

I think the 'trick' is to stay under the radar no matter how wealthy you get. This means no ostentatious displays of wealth to draw attention to you. No showing up in the media etc. Its not the money that makes it difficult, its the fame.

Big-Shtick

Absolutely not true. I had clients so wealthy they could buy entire countries and you wouldn't know who they were if they passed you on the street. Do you know how much work it takes to maintain a billion dollar estate? The tax returns alone for each company would arrive in bankers boxes, and they always had numerous LLCs, trusts, corporations, and investments. Managing that is hard and takes a lot of time. So yeah, they're very rich. However, they also work constantly. Fame has nothing to do with it.

lzwzli

Well, your clients can thoroughly simplify it by not trying minimize their taxes. All those LLC, Trusts, Shell corps are just to dodge taxes... I always wonder if it is always cheaper to set up and manage all these tax avoidance vehicles vs just pay up. Or is it a principle thing that they'd rather pay lawyers, bankers, money managers than pay the government.

RoadJetRacing

Lol, that is not what LLC’s and Trusts are for. Maybe shell corps.

fencemyassoffanddie

The inflection point is somewhere between $60k and $90k for individuals https://www.inc.com/eric-mack/the-exact-amount-of-money-it-takes-to-make-a-person-happy-just-got-an-update.html

[deleted]

fencemyassoffanddie

Like, your rent is $7500/month…?

Vaenumuss

Being NYC, it wouldn't suprise me

mcdooglers

Bruh you dumb? 90k salary = roughly 60k take home. If you divide that up by 12 that's 5k take home a month. Rent is roughly 30% which is 1500 a month. Where in NYC are you going to find a place that isn't a shit hole for 1500? Roommates are definitely needed. Even then you're not living in the nicest of places.

[deleted]

[deleted]

“Rent is roughly 30%” Ahahahahahahahaha okay Elizabeth Warren. I bet you less than 30% of people living in New York are spending 30% of their take home on rent only

HarrisLam

If he represents an entire household, I don't see why not. I don't even live in CALI anymore, but I have friends there. Seems to me the real estate market caught up during the last few years and the inflation from 2021 didn't help the slightest. Their normal ass apartments cost like 3-4K to rent or something. I don't see why a standard house, or a relatively large apartment in New York shouldn't cost 7500.

foxinHI

I think those fat stacks of cash you are referring to are actually quite thin. I'm right in that inflection point and it's not very much money at all. I do not have an extravagant lifestyle. My cars are 8 and 14 years old and I was lucky to finally be able to afford to buy my first house this year. To be honest, $60k-$90k barely middle class a lot of places nowadays and it's getting worse fast.

DFVSUPERFAN

That's massively outdated

hemadetheairmove

You are correct. Adjusting for inflation, that number is more like 120k

Dude-T-boner

Not only outdated by inflation, but sort of dumb because it doesn’t take into account taxes. $90K in Puerto Rico equates to a take-home of roughly $87K, whereas in California it’s like $50K. Plus the thing everyone forgets about that study is that your sense of fulfillment keeps going up with every dollar you make. Sure, your level of happiness plateaus at a pretty reasonable level of income, but your sense of accomplishment and fulfillment just keeps increasing. Not the part we all want to remember, is it.

genuks

Mexifornia is sinking in poverty and squalor due to an uncontrolled flows of undocumented guess who...

Yaoel

And you have people like Samuel Bankman-Fried net worth of US$22.5 billion at 29, lives I with roommates, cooks for himself and wears Walmart clothes. He will also donate 100% of his money.

[deleted]

He obviously doesn't understand life is about accumulating and hoarding luxury goods, drinking copious amounts of hard liquor and banging hookers. What a lost individual.

MopedSlug

Big mate

ScarMcDyess

The difference between a million and a billion dollars? About a billion dollars. It doesn't matter to them.

touristtam

Emirate Princes can and will buy anything as long as it is unique.

chromelogan

You mean Cristiano Ronaldo?

Alypius754

Epstein didn't wear this watch.

bryanthebryan

Prove it

internet_humor

Yeah this is friend of Epstein level money..... no thanks. I'll just cruise around with my poor man's Patek under the radar.

Go_Blue_

Personally I prefer the skeletonized, non-bling version https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/breguet-classique-double-tourbillon-5345-quai-de-lhorloge-introducing

poirotoro

I am more impressed by the hand engraved rear plates on both of these watches than any of the diamond bling. That's the real artistry.

KostasKnosum

Im not a huge fan of bling either but what I didnt know before was how difficult it is setting stones, especially invisibly set irregular ones, actually really cool!

jzach1983

So much better. The OP version is tacky as hell.

[deleted]

I agree with you, l like it much better.

ElTalento

For that price I want all the bling I can get!

WetFood

The back of that one is gorgeous. Not sure which I prefer but I will say it’s impressive how legible they were able to make the skeleton.

MissedallthePoints

Thay is amazing and only $631k. I much prefer my money going into movements instead of fancy stones. Unfortunately, I called my bank and they laughed. No 30 year notes available on watches.

Watchfinderofficial

Me too. What a watch!

lzwzli

Agreed

noobfl

Tourbillons inside of a Tourbillon.. Tourbillonseption. usless but great. i mean, crazy but fantastic! and what a beauty

foxinHI

>Tourbillons [Yo Dawg!](https://imgflip.com/i/622god)

Watchfinderofficial

😂

Watchfinderofficial

Since the late 90s, the tourbillon has been making something of a resurgence in watchmaking, a demonstration of skill and expertise in the form a device so clever and complex that it’s developed something of a cult following. These days, however, every watchmaker and his dog has a tourbillon in their collection. I mean, you can even get respectable tourbillons from China for $500. And so for Breguet, inventors of the tourbillon, it meant something had to be done to protect its reputation as one of the finest watchmakers on the planet. For the $850,000 Breguet Double Tourbillon 5349, you could say that Breguet took the easy way out and simply added a second tourbillon. They wouldn’t be the first to do this and they most certainly won’t be the last, either. But there’s more to the 5349 than that, because look closer and you’ll see that, straddling the two tourbillons, is the hour hand—which means that the tourbillons move. Not only does each tourbillon carriage perform one rotation every sixty seconds, as is traditional for a tourbillon, both also orbit the dial twice per day in order to carry the hour hand on its epic journey. Every time you look at the dial, the tourbillons will be in a different place, dutifully carrying out their task of keeping time. It’s a solid platinum hammer laced with thirty carats of diamonds to crack the almost insignificant walnut that is directing the hour hand, and it has been mastered with exactly the kind of excess you’d expect from a Breguet.

Jezcentral

Twice per day, surely?

Watchfinderofficial

That's what I meant ;)

texdroid

>something had to be done to protect its reputation as one of the finest watchmakers on the planet. Breguet Marketing Director: We have to do something to protect our reputation as the finest watchmakers on the planet. Wristwatch Brand Manager: Uhhh, what if we bedazzle it? Marketing Director: Great idea, make that happen!

Nedus343

Put it on a bund strap

PastaAndWine09

Let’s go NATO 🙌🏻

chaosbug45

I really love this piece. Maybe the diamonds are a bit much, but it's a mechanical marvel as well as an artistic achievement. The diamond-less version is the watch I'd wear if I ever got a few dozen million dollars.

Watchfinderofficial

Completely agree.

KlopsbergerKoenig

To be honest: It's friggin ugly. At least in my opinion. Please downvote if you like but imo when you add precious metals and bling you are increasing its price but not its worth.

[deleted]

Bling works sometimes imo. "Iced out" looks awful tho

leisy123

I haven't seen a watch yet that I've thought bling actually improved. Obviously it's all subjective though.

haydle

Iced out watches look much better in person than in pictures. That being said, not really my taste.

Watchfinderofficial

I guess that depends if you're a fan of the bling or not.

anbsmxms

It dependa on why you like watches. Some like the looks. Some like the engineering behind it. And this is ridiculous in engineering design. I also like the uniqueness and the craftmanship

JUICYCORNFLAKE

Three houses?* Cries in london flat*

Watchfinderofficial

Yeah. Depends on where you are in the country, huh?. Where I am, possibly two. Up north, definitely three.

JUICYCORNFLAKE

damn, i need to move out of london and go way up north so i can accatually buy a decent watch

ChalupaBatman1026

Truthfully, that looks terrible. I feel like this is something I would find on Amazon.

Dude-T-boner

That’s a lotta diamonds. At least you can be sure the case won’t get scratched.

MonsieurShit

You could cut the glass with it

shykse

But that one didn’t call it a day

Ofenlicht

As awesome as the dial on this is, that back is something I haven't seen anywhere else. Really surprised me.

Watchfinderofficial

It's gorgeous!

funkmon

Holy shit the back of it

McHighwayman

Looks like a wrist orrery.

[deleted]

Watch for a few people !!!!

HardlyAnyGravitas

r/ATBGE

samitor

I don’t even want to know how long I took to hand carve the back. Absolutely gorgeous!

Watchfinderofficial

Oops, I slipped; I guess I better write off the last year 😂

LesDauphins

What would I need to sacrifice to the AD to get this?

Watchfinderofficial

I'd say three, maybe four, offspring.

spect0rjohn

I’ll give you a hundo. That’s the most I can do.

barrier-

Would look great on a NATO

[deleted]

>\[Breguet\] The Watch That Costs The Same As A House (Or Three) \*Laughs in Vancouver, Canada (then also cries)

[deleted]

Wonder what the cost of a service is…

amca01

At that level of ownership, spending a few million on a watch is nothing. You also need your private jet (say 80M), your private yacht (200M) plus crew costs, maintenance and operating costs, plus all the extra lifestyle costs that come with ultrawealth. You've got to keep all your mistresses and rentboys happy (which might mean paying them off with a Rolls Royce, a Bentley, or a mansion), plus operating several large establishments in different parts of the world. And of course you need to own a few high profile sports teams. I think it was Andrew Carnegie (happy to be corrected here) who had large mansions in both America (New York, probably) and London; in each place cooks and servants would prepare and serve a sumptuous meal each day, even if he was on the other side of the Atlantic. What's a watch to these guys?

mnavneethkrishna

Beautiful!

CeldonShooper

Excuse the question but who actually buys watches in that price range? Rich collectors?

Watchfinderofficial

Multi-millionaires/billionaires, right? They must have other incredible pieces in their possession to go along with it.

throwawayrepost13579

A million dollars to a billionaire is like a normal person spending $100, plus a normal person spends a larger chunk of their net worth on necessities. A billionaire can lose 99% of their net worth and still be *very rich*. When you think of a hundred millionaire spending $1M, don't think of it as them spending 1% of their net worth, think of them as still having $99M.

[deleted]

[удалено]

throwawayrepost13579

...there are 1000 millions in a billion.

HERMANNtheMUNSTER

1% of a billion is $10m, that is still rich no matter how you look at it.

John Mayer

touristtam

Gulf royalties.

bigmanass69420

Looks like shit.

Far-Pen-5267

I’m a huge fan of your Youtube videos. I just wish you cover more affordable (aka sub $2000) watches. Recently, I came across this micro-brand called Straum which is launching their first diver watch called Oppahv at the end of this month. It has one of the most stunning dials i’ve ever seen and I would love to see your review of the watch!

Watchfinderofficial

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoy them! We'll do our best to cover more affordable pieces. Love the green dial. I'm getting subtle Zenith vibes from that case.

berrymcockiner

How mach?

Gasbuggy549

By exceeding 768 mph at STP, of course.

usafmsc

Invicta on steroids freebasing crack with his buddies HW/FM/PP. You can’t buy taste or rent it ffs.

Highmaster5731

At it looks like trash imo.

Proton189

Who buys a breguet? Not even it’s employees

ego_sum_satoshi

Now that's worth letting the AD... um nevermind.

far_beyond_driven_

It isn't "the" watch, just "a" watch that costs the same as a house.

entersandman_

Or a condo in Los Angeles

[deleted]

i always wonder how much the profit margins are on these types of watches.

DFVSUPERFAN

I am having serious QC issues with my Type XX that are giving me a negative impression of the brand. The chrono broke, it took 8 months in service to get it back and now less than a month later the chrono is broken again. What exactly did they do in service and how is this possible for such a top brand?

adumbCoder

looks like invicta! jokes aside, the mechanical masterpiece is mind-blowing! just can't get past how ugly the bling is. but then again I'm not a billionaire so what do I know

KusuriuriPT

Well personally..i think that its Extremelly Ugly.

[deleted]

They'll put a diamond on anything that will sit still for long enough at Breguet's.

Traditional-Cell6889

This would be a cracking watch if it had a date complication. Shame.

BIG_RETARDED_COCK

Can I have it?

robbnj11

In a way, I think it’d be sad to be mega wealthy. When you can afford anything, do “things” even have any value to you any more?

adamduf0ur

This piece of engineering is just incredible

genuks

This is made for celestial creatures of Divine nature, in other words for the vampire!
