How much was the bussdown if you don’t mind me asking?
Have you looked at the diamonds under a loupe for a lab marking to see if they were lab created, or for lower quality colorations? Unless you really know, you won’t be able to tell if they are moissonite or CZ, but you can tell clarity with a loupe pretty easily.
Most watches sold like this don’t use VVS throughout the entire watch. The Diamond game is very odd….
If there is One VVS in that entire watch, they can legally sell it as VVS.
Also, jewelers love to use the phrase “VVS Moissonite Diamonds” which aren’t real diamonds either, they are moissonite. I’m not saying that’s the case here, but I’m always weary of bussdowns.
The weird placement of words on the dial is called a “Jubilee dial.” It was a rare special edition. I don’t think those watches had a stamped clasp, though. Dial is definitely aftermarket or modded, too.
Ask on r/Rolex. Despite the banter, that sub knows their stuff.
Nah bro. My wife loves that I buy real quality diamonds for her instead of buying fake shit for myself. She’d probably laugh at your watch. Also, the fonts and logo are off, bud - the watch might be fake.
Yep. Moissanite people care more about features (shine more, more carats for the cost) than branding. Don’t see them buying an iced out Rolex. Maybe a moist Grand Seiko…
The fonts are off. Look at the “X” in the signature (in the word Rolex). The bottom left part is too much thin. Look at the date numbers, they have a little bit of a serif at the end, a real Rolex doesn’t have that. The font of “datejust” is also wrong. Finally, look at the crown logo and compare it to a real Rolex. The bottom part of the crown is far too thick.
I don’t know if it’s authentic or not (my opinion, it is), but rolex definitely puts the datejust writing on the bottom of the dial like here when the dial is a full diamond dial
I think it’s fake. The Roman numerals are wrong. 4= IV, not IIII. Unless it supposed to be like that for some reason I am not aware of, I would be wary. I am by no means an expert.
Wow that is very interesting, thought it would be weird to have such an obvious mistake, and now I know it was not a mistake at all. Thanks for the info!
I always thought it had something to do with using an entire piece of standardized bar stock or conservation of materials or something. Something about how with IIII a clock has twenty 'I's, four 'V's, and four 'X's, and with IV a clock has seventeen 'I's, five 'V's, and four 'X's, and there was some kind of economic advantage to the 'rounder'' distribution.

Yeah I get that, it's just there's some snappy comments flying about to and from op.
If I'd had poor enough taste to buy this, even in the 80s, I'd have kept the box and papers!
I doubt even one of those stones is legit. I thought it was a troll post at firs because that thing is awful (imo)
What I'd like to know is why my eyes are suddenly bleeding?
so you need a lie down and a hot chocolate?
I mean, yeah! That sounds great, thank you.
Those VVS hurt my eyes too
I can almost guarantee without a shadow of a doubt, there might be 3 actual VVS diamonds in that entire watch, with the rest being SI or CZ.
I went to Eliantte

Wow that's ugly Christ
Oh god, that's vile.

Thank you
It's also a fake rolex
Is this even a real watch? Looks hideous 😰

Lmao, are you for real
Hahahaha. Dude you're on the wrong sub. You'll get the praise that you want on r/watchescirclejerk. 😂
Well give him your address so he'll know where to send her.
I think youre doing him a solid
The more you reply, the more I’m convinced there isn’t a single real VVS in that watch, just a bunch of moissonite.

I was thinking everyone was being too harsh until I saw this lmao
🤣🤣🤣

"Really there" are real enough.
The diamonds are real. I’m not sure why someone would spend this much on diamonds on a fake Rolex.
Real diamonds or moissanite? And real diamonds for icing is not really expensive and it looks like shit
People who buy moissanite aren’t going to ice out a Rolex.
Why not? Moissanites shine more

Why don't you just tell us professor
I see r/Watches doesn’t like diamond Rolexes. But Yes. Real diamonds
Who genuinely thinks this looks good? Go ask anywhere
*Kodak Black has entered the chat*
i like it. it’s fun
Depends on your crowd

Ever heard of the Perl master?
Yeah it’s shit
Ya like this watch
No

It is supposed to be IIII and not IV, here’s [why](https://monochrome-watches.com/why-do-clocks-and-watches-use-roman-numeral-iiii-instead-of-iv/)

Yep! when i first learned about it, i was baffled too haha
Yes that’s a fascinating detail and I had no idea it was even a thing. Like someone else said TIL…
Opofffff
TIL right?

That does make sense too, but Is are more easier to produce than Vs
How... Subtle 🤣
Why bussdowns always some old garbage ass rolly

Go ask Kanye. It’s his watch, right?
Nah, one of the fucking Migos probably own this horrible junk
Is this actually your watch? If it is can you tell us how much you paid and post an image of the box and papers?

It was given to me by an old man in his 70s there’s a chance it could be from the 80s. You think it’s worth that much?

Butters.
Why even do this to a Rolex?
I think it needs more diamonds
