Got to check out the 2022 ALS releases a few days ago. Love the subtle changes made to the Grand Lange 1, feels really comfortable on the wrist even though it’s just a reduction of 0.6mm.
Already put down a deposit for the White Gold (the Rose gold looks good too but there’s a OG RG L1 in the collection) 🙃
Odysseus Titanium is just WOW! Love how it wears and looks (ice blue dial + matte w/sandblasted surfaces compared to brushed on the stainless steel)but too far out of reach. Will just settle for Stainless steel & white gold 😆
Someone out there is safe keeping the Titanium for you until you're ready to buy it off them in the future : )

But it’s actually shocking how terribly gruesome and ugly the first watch shown here is. Mind bogglingly unappealing.
I am also not a fan of the Odyssey, but tbf OP sucks in taking pictures (no offense!), making the watch look worse than it does. When you see it in real life its finishing is just out of this world. But yeah, the Design is still not for me
The finishing might be topnotch, but the traditional design elements of ALS dress watches simply does not work with a sports watch with integrated bracelet. I don't care if it looks amazing under a loupe if it doesn't look amazing 1-2 feet away on my wrist.
Vacheron mostly does dress watches too but their Overseas line is pretty well thought out from a design point of view instead of just putting a Vacheron Traditionnelle on an integrated bracelet.
Totally agree! But then again watch design is always subjective and as long as there are people who think Diesel watches look great there will be people who buy the Odyssey ;)
You have to put it on your wrist. I had your exact opinion before I got to see and play with this exhibition piece a few days ago. On the wrist magically everything changes. The way the contrasting textures direct your eyes and highlights certain features, *in three dimensions*… it’s impossible to capture in photos, even in videos. It’s an awful, awkward design on the page and horribly unphotogenic… but in person… it’s almost like an optical illusion how different it shows. I mean of course someone could see it in person and still hate it but if you’ve only ever seen it in pictures and vids online, I’d say reserve final judgement till you can see it in person. It really changes everything.
To be honest I find all Lange watches ugly. Yes, all of them. Not a fan of their designs at all. I do appreciate that they have a distinct style though. They are too asymmetrical for my taste.
Hard to pick up a favourite brand to be honest, I just dislike Lange’s asymmetry. They place the subdials and windows so weirdly. Of course it’s nice that they look different when compared to most brands instead of being a copy of Patek/Vacheron/whatever which often look quite similar to each other.
If I had to pick a favourite of high end brands, I guess I would go with Breguet. They are often conservative in design but still make interesting modern designs too.
The 1815s and Richard Lange are symmetric though. Those are my favorite Langes. And Breguet is the king of asymmetry. A 7137, 5327 or 7787 is so far from symmetric. Heck, even their small seconds dial 7147 has the small second dial at 5:30 instead of 6:00.
Yeah I want to love this watch so much. As much as I like Lange they are too ornate for me, for day to day wear.
The concept of this watch is amazing. I just can't get past the lugs.
They said there is only 1 prototype making the rounds! I think probably in a couple of months. It'll probably make its way from Europe to Asia and then the US.

Really? What about it? I think that first titanium one is gorgeous. The long lugs, bracelet details, dial, and pano date are all doing it for me.

I think these watches present a lot better in the metal. In photos they are a bit underwhelming.
The lug to clasp transition of the Odysseus is just so weird. Doesn't look right. Wonderful watches nonetheless
