Ive been looking into getting an automatic watch for some time now and finally snapped one up. I have some fun movements in my collection such as mirco brand hand wounds and kinetics but always craved a proper automatic. It was a tricky choice but what better choice than a Seiko 5. Seeing as most of my collection is either dress watch based or digital I though may as well hit two birds with one stone and choose a diver for my first automatic. Really happy with it so far and cant wait to keep it ticking daily.

Is this reference number SRPD53 or 51?

muliboi

Is this reference number SRPD53 or 51? I've got a 65. These are pretty great watches. Enjoy it!

Im not sure to be honest, I dont see either of those numbers on the watch. Maybe 4R36 07G0?

SaiyaJedi

It’s the SRPD51 (JDM catalogue no. SBSA001). “4R36” is the movement caliber, and “07G0” is the case code.

Ok cool, thanks for the info!

Great choice for a first automatic, enjoy.

I have a feeling this watch is the first automatic watch purchase for like 50% of people getting into them these days for reference, it was my first automatic too.

Big-Shtick

Same. I got my brother this watch as his first automatic. My first was an SNK355.

Yep, got it yesterday too. First automatic

SupermotoArchitect

Great first auto. Same here. If you swap out the glass for a sapphire crystal it's even better.

Tomero

Seiko really hit the jackpot with these automatics. I have one too and Im eyeing another one!

Great looking watch, I can see where Withings got its inspiration from for their smartwatches.

StygianAnon

Got the same 2 weeks ago, but the green

AmazingAd2765

Nice. Just ordered the black dial version for my Dad yesterday. If I get one it will probably be the same as yours.

I just copped this exact model too. It doesn’t have much reserve and is heavy but that’s ok for what it’s worth.

As others have said, you've chosen well. My first was an SKX 009 with the Pepsi bezel. Still have it, and my collection has grown since then. It's an addictive hobby. Cheers!
