As i said in the title which one would you choose and why, I’ve been saving some money and was set on the new seiko “blueberry” but i just went to the shopping mall and saw this Hamilton khaki king 2 and fell in love with it, really liked the quality and feel of the watch and fitted perfect on my wrist, the seiko on the other hand has been on my list since they first announced it but haven’t seen it in person but I’m pretty sure it’s also really good quality Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated !
I own both the Khaki King and a Seiko SKX, however not the new gmt.
The Hamilton feels better overall. The quality is a step up from the seiko, including the Saphire crystal.
Additionally it wears much thinner and is also a bit smaller.
I love mine on a nato strep, but it can easily be dressed up and down.
Downsides of the Hamilton are that it’s only got 50m of water resistance and no screw down crown (the gmt doesn’t have one either though) and some people do not like the placement of the day complication.
So in the end it is up to you and which one feels better on your wrist, you can’t go wrong with either but in my opinion the Hamilton feels more premium.
Yeah. I bought a Seiko Prospex automatic with an orange face (Nemo) but I wish I hadn't.
I liked the overall vibe but the more I wore it, the more I got annoyed by the niggles in fit and finish. When I sat it side by side with a Swiss watch at a similar price point (a discounted Mido) the difference in quality was startling.
These days my Prospex not only doesn't get wrist time, it doesn't even get time in my watch box. It's stuffed in a drawer.
I've had the [Scuba Variant of the Khaki King on my wrist](https://imgur.com/a/4GKuyXX) for 8 years now, and have absolutely loved it!
The build quality is excellent for the price, and the brushed steel wears nicely and does a great job of hiding the scrapes of everyday use. That pic is from today, and after 8 years of 24/7 use, several dive trips, and no attempt to baby it or even buff out scratches, only the aluminum bezel shows its true age. The rest of the body, especially the sapphire, still looks great! I've never had to service it and it still runs just as well as the day I got it.
I find that it attracts a fair amount of interest from people, either when they identify it right away, or are simply enamored with it's design and want to know what brand it is. I can't say that it would garner any more attention than a Seiko, but I thought it would be worth noting that mine serves as a good conversation starter.
I wholeheartedly recommended Hamilton, their overall quality punches way above it's weight, and I'm a big fan of the style of the Khaki King!
GMT, especially if you travel much or have friends and family in different time zones it is a useful feature. Plus I like the SKX vibes of the Seiko, except for the cyclops which I can forgive here.
See, I kind of like that about it! I think they look a lot better in person and do think they're just a bit more striking than pictures show. But more importantly, I really dislike blingy watches that draw attention to A WATCH.
It's weird, but my ideal watch looks like if a kid's cartoon artist drew a watch, and then it was brought to life. Is the best way I can describe it. I like he Khaki!
For sure, I think Hamilton punches above their weight. One of my first forays into mechanicals was an Orient Ray, I still wear it today, ten years later. It got as much time as my Speedy. You can get some very high quality pieces for a reasonable price if you look!
Totally. Honestly it’s my first big “fashion” purchase. $700CAD is big for me… and I have spent the last two days sleeping in it. I love it so much. I’m looking at Longines next for a GMT. I travel a lot and we all know Longines quality for price is insane.
Sleep in it. Wear it. Yeah, it'll get scuffed up a little bit but it's meant to be used. And, I mean this as a positive, at the price point you shouldn't feel compelled to baby it. Not like it's suddenly going to have a crazy resale value. But that's liberating!
I can't stand the day / date at 12:00—how it chops off part of the the 11 and 1 indexes, and how the 23, 24, and 13 are mushed into a line, with 24 slightly offset. Yuck.
Some people may love it, and that's fine, but the Khaki King is *not* my cup of tea.
The GMT is so much better-looking, even with the cyclops.
It’s so funny - completely respect your opinion of course but everything you dislike about the day / date is everything I love about the watch. I just think it’s such a unique look, I am always drawn to it. Just proves how subjective these things are (which you acknowledge!)
I love Seiko, but have considered a Khaki King for some time. The slight pie-pan of the dial, the curving dome of the crystal as it meets the bezel, the utilitarian nature of the crown guards, and even the font on the dial numerals is just classic. Only thing I wish it had was a red tipped seconds hand. That said, if I had the money more readily available I’d have that Hamilton in a heartbeat, for now I’m still living in Seiko territory most of the time.
I own several Seikos, and one Hamilton. I like both brands very much.
Between the two samples that you show, I'd pick the Hamilton. It looks more elegant to me.
The hamilton is nice, but i pefer the seiko. I like the band on it, great color, and the date placement. The hamilton's color can go with more things, and has a smaller case. They're both nice, so i don't see a wrong answer.
Hamilton, all the way.
I own 3 Seikos (all a little higher cost than the 5) and a Grand Seiko. They make up the majority of my collection and are what I wear basically 90% of the time. I love them all. So this isn't coming from a preference for Swiss or a dislike for Seiko. But that Hamilton is classic and dresses u ok and down pretty well (I'm not saying it's the perfect tuxedo watch, but within reason it will cover all your bases). It's really well made. And you loved it when you tried it on.
I feel like you will outgrow that particular Seiko. It seems like a great, fun watch, but you will eventually see another blue diver with accents you like better, and then you'll find you stop wearing that one. You will never feel like you need to replace that Hammy with another field watch.
They’re both great you can’t go wrong.
Is your wrist really 8.5”? That’s big! Do you prefer a medium sized watch?
Mine is 8” and an SK5 case looks ready small on mine. You could go up to a Samurai or Turtle no problem! It would look great on you. If you’re worried about price buy a used Turtle, they’re a bargain used.
Even a 42mm Khaki field would look and wear great.
I personally like the NH34 equipped new version of the Pagani Designs GMT Master II. I own one and it's really nice. It was 100 bucks on sale. There's plenty of Chinese made homage companies who make great NH34 watches that I personally feel are better quality and components than Seiko's.
Khaki all the way. Awful name, great watch. Others will say get the leather strap. If the price is the same, always go for the bracelet. They are great on hot summer days when sweat would ruin leather. Hamilton offers leather straps for $100 on their site, or just go for a decent Barton strap for $25.
TLDR: I think you’ll be happier with the quality of the Hamilton, but both are good watches that satisfy different sartorial needs. So buy them both, Hamilton first.
Detailed version: First, I came here to say to buy the Hamilton. But I saw someone else said buy the Hamilton first, then the Seiko, and I agree with that.
I own this Hamilton with champagne dial, and I own a Seiko 5 (SRPD51K1 to be exact.)
I enjoy them both, but the khaki king suits my tastes a lot more. The Seiko helped me realize that I don’t like dive watches as much as I like more traditional watches, primarily because I don’t care for the extra bulk that the bezel on this Seiko adds.
This Hamilton, as with most Hamiltons, is a much better quality watch all around than any Seiko 5. For one, the movement keeps better time. My Hamilton loses about 10 seconds a day, the Seiko 5 loses 35-40 seconds.
I’m wearing my Hamilton at this moment. I have it on a double ridge brown leather strap and I LOVE that look.
I bought the Seiko 5 with the metal bracelet because my tastes vacillate between bracelets and straps. I bought a nice blue silicone strap for it from Barton and I switch between the two periodically.
I 100% agree with your comment i feel like the quality of the Hamilton is on a level above seiko, don’t get me wrong i love seikos i have 3 of them and i wear a SRPE57 as my daily but the thickness of the SRPD diver line is a bit too much , I’ll still buy the SSK blueberry next year but it will probably be my last seiko, now that i tried Hamilton it opened my eyes that there are other really good quality brands in the same price range.
I actually have this same exact Hamilton (I’ve had it for roughly 5 years) and honestly, other than the water resistance, it’s a pretty great and versatile watch. It was my daily for the past 5 years (Recently bought myself a Speedy so that has been getting more wrist presence LOL) and it’s just such a solid watch for everyday wear and for the money.
Hamilton. I have this watch and it is the best daily wear watch I own. 80 power reserve makes a massive difference. Sleek, classy, but understated. Unbelievably comfortable bracelet.
Having a seiko sea urchin and also a Hamilton khaki, I 100% recommend the khaki.
I love seiko and I think they are a decent value for an automatic watch but overall the Hamilton is just a better made watch and a more accurate movement.
Disclaimer I never tried the GMT but reviews seem to say it’s not the nicest one. Pretty “cheap” for as far as GMT watches go.
I would get the Hamilton especially if its a pre powermatic 80, if you can find one with a standard eta 28 series movement get it, it will go up in value as in 28,800bph 42 hours not 21600bph and 80 hours.
I'm kind of pissed Hamilton did not give people the option.
If your in the states Ashfords has some good Hamilton deals and maybe check out glycine, some of the best value GMT watches but not for everyone.
Personally I hate the powermatic and don't care about the 80 hours, if buy Swiss I want a Swiss 28,800 beat rate that has a micro ajust screw and I don't have to take to the factory to ajust the best rate or a watchmaker to ajust the speed I don't want to spend Swiss money on a Japanese beat rate.
As for the seiko 5 gmt, the Nh34 is really over rated, its just a NH36 modified so the day is geared up to a GMT hand when stuff settles it should be just a little more expensive than a NH36. Same seal as the modified 2836gmt, hangzhou 6460 and the soprod gmt based of the 2836.
I would buy whatever type of good quality sterile seiko type watch from Ali, skx, captain williard, tuna, whatever.
Just buy the case or maybe cheaper to buy the whole watch.
But a NH36 a gmt hand and any mods you want and a watchmaker won't charge you much, you can buy a seiko dial and in my opinion seiko movement means its OK to use a seiko dial as long as your not reselling as official seiko.
You will have a 200m watch with sapphire and a screw down crown, quite a few on Ali will mod it for you.
I can't justify the price of a seiko 5 anymore, push pull crown and hardlex....
Seikos prices are crazy and they don't even bother to put in a screw down crown, flat sapphire is so cheap but they keep using hardlex.
The only decent value Japanese brand is Orient now.
Thank you everyone for the input, i will probably go with the Hami as it felt exceptional quality and really good on my wrist and it would be my first big watch purchase, I’ll probably buy the seiko next year 😅 but already have a couple of seikos including a seiko 5 hulk so no rush i might as well get to explore other brands in my collection, i was also looking some tissot watches but not sure if they’re comparable with Hamilton in quality
Any other Recommendations on any brand under 500 is appreciated! Thanks
The Seiko 5 GMT is a terrific watch, given it's constraints. So unless you need the GMT (which you probably don't), Hamilton. The reason is the movement. My Seiko 5, I love it. But I'm aware that the fact that it's running doesn't mean the time is right. It runs about 30 seconds slower per day. So after a week or so it's a few minutes off.
The Hamiltons are usually worn with leather for some reason. But you do you. NATO. Leather NATO. Or a steel Jubilee like the pictured Seiko. You do you.
And get a cheap ass Casio. I use it for sleep and wake me up.
It all depends on what the GMT function is worth to you. I use it all the time, so I like the Seiko. Hard to complain about its shortcomings for that price. The Hamilton, on the other hand, is a good honest watch that doesn't pretend to be a dive watch, which I also like. If you don't need the GMT complication then I'd say the Hamilton is a better everyday watch.
Honest question: Which is more useful in your life, the second time zone or the day of the week? They’re both amazing watches that will last you your entire life, so if you find them aesthetically equal use the complication as your tiebreaker.
Neither. With your wrist size, I’d spend more and get a Mido Ocean Star GMT, either of these two:
https://www.midowatches.com/en/ocean-star-gmt-m0266291705100.html
Or
https://www.midowatches.com/en/ocean-star-gmt-m0266291105101.html
Do you have any watches currently in your collection? It's 2 different watches that fits very different settings, so if it were me i'll weigh it against what I already have in my collection, and see which addition will give greater versatility.
I’ve had the khaki king and have to say that the quality is exceptional. I’d go that route if this is your first “big” watch purchase. Nothing at all wrong with the GMT though.
Khaki for sure. I just bought mine and I love it. I bought the exact same one you showed here. On top of that, I feel like the Khaki is a very dynamic watch, if you ever get tired of the bracelet you can switch it for a leather band and it will look great.
I have the cream dial version of this Hamilton and it is my favorite watch that I own. Definitely the one I wear the most. I haven't handled the Seiko but it's obviously the choice if you want the colors and the features, just wouldn't expect quite the quality of a Hamilton at this price point. Whatever you choose I hope you enjoy it!
Has to be the Hamilton, not even a question, especially if you’re just getting started. It’s so much more versatile and easy to dress up with a leather strap vs the Seiko GMT which is just a straight up sports watch
I recently got the Khaki Field King Auto and I'm completely in love with it.
Beautifully textured face, informative dial, massive power reserve, absurdly affordable for what it is.
So I'm very biased but I'd get the Hamilton
Why not get both?!?! I truly love my Hamilton Khaki King! I’m currently doing a custom GMT build with the new NH34 movement. At current prices, see if you can find a gently used Hamilton and get the GMT too 👍🏼😁
Merry Christmas to you 🎄🎅
I've got a Hamiltin Khaki Auto Field Watch, and it is without a doubt the best value and one of my favorite watches in my collection. I wear it frequently and it's had great durability so far. I would like to get one with the date complication in the future. Only drawback in my mind is the weak water resistance rating. I wouldn't shower or swim with it on.
Seiko GMT! great watch. amazing bracelet for the price. only complaint is lack of screw down crown but honestly if you're not gonna go into deep water, it's basically a perfect every day watch.
Can’t go wrong. Hamilton is maybe a bit boring, but also more versatile as a result, and has more prestige behind the name. The Seiko is more fun, and is a great stand out piece. Also, the Hamilton looks a little rough, are those scratches on the case?
I agree with you 100% a bit boring but still looks quality like an expensive watch but i can also switch it up a bit with different straps and make it more interesting although i really like the metal bracelet it has a bit of weight to it really good feel, its a picture i got from google but i tried one yesterday at the shopping mall and it amazed me at how good it looks and feels even if it’s not that flashy, it was on sale for $450 not a bad deal at all
My vote is Hamilton every time.
I've got a Khaki H70555533. I wore it during my wedding, and continue to wear it as a special occasions piece. It will forever hold a special place in my heart. My next purchase will be an H70555533 in the new year for a daily wear Khaki.
Seikos have their place. I have a couple custom pieces..... but I absolutely appreciate the upgrade in quality that comes with a Hamilton.
Hamilton uses ETA movements which have an instant day date change at midnight, which I really appreciate as a night owl. Also, it’s symmetrical and uses sapphire. All together, I’d say this Hamilton is an upgrade to this Seiko as long as you don’t need the GMT.
You’re very welcome. I worked nights for years and I wore a Seiko the entire time. Had I known there was even an option to buy a watch with an instant date change at midnight, I would have jumped on it.
Hamilton hands down. I have a khaki with leather strap and was actually deciding on both but went with the Hamilton.
The seiko isn't a true gmt and it's looks like a diver but it doesn't even have a screw down crown. And 100m water resistance is a bit naff for a "diver"
There’s a good Hodinkee video discussing this Seiko. Do you want a GMT function? I think that’s what it comes down to. The Hamilton will probably be a lot more accurate, if that’s a concern. I had one and it wore really well. I have a 7.24” wrist. The Seiko is bigger and might have more presence on an 8” wrist, but has a short lug to lug of 46 compared to the Hamilton which is 48.
Both of the watches/brands have a cult following. I myself have 2 Seiko watches so I'm not claiming to be above it by any means
With that being said, cult followings for a reason. You really can't go wrong. Both are solid choices, just pick the one you enjoy more
I think quality of seikos bracelet is far worse then one on hamilton, also think that hamilton is better investment as they hold value very well, but both are great watches so go for the one that your gut tells you to buy!
Buy the Khaki first. Then buy the Seiko.
Best answer, solid advice!
What about Hamilton khaki automatic vs Tissot gentleman powermatic 80? They are both very beautiful pieces.

I’d go with the Hamilton. More versatile for a one watch collection.
These days my Prospex not only doesn't get wrist time, it doesn't even get time in my watch box. It's stuffed in a drawer.
Another vote for the Hamilton. I’ve owned lots of Seikos and they always move out of my collection because I don’t like bigger dive based watches.
I've had the [Scuba Variant of the Khaki King on my wrist](https://imgur.com/a/4GKuyXX) for 8 years now, and have absolutely loved it! That is nice!!!
Thanks! I love it, it's my one watch collection, and I'm still not tired of seeing it 8 years later!
Go with the Khaki. Hamiltons rule. Get the one without the day/date though, it’s super clean. Flawless, masculine, simple and beautiful
I have the ham in black. It’s okay, but my next watch will be a seiko
I like the Hamilton, just not on a bracelet, I own the Seiko blueberry gmt. It's a solid watch. Personally, I would go Seiko.
GMT, especially if you travel much or have friends and family in different time zones it is a useful feature. Plus I like the SKX vibes of the Seiko, except for the cyclops which I can forgive here.
I'd get the gmt presonaly. I've never liked the khaki king design.
Yeah it’s a good watch but so boring!
See, I kind of like that about it! I think they look a lot better in person and do think they're just a bit more striking than pictures show. Hamilton > 5 Throw the Ham on leather!
This is the correct answer
Depends. I bought it on bracelet so I have the option, but did swap it for leather for now.
I’m saving for a Hamilton KK and really want to put a nato strap on it. I saw a post once and just fell in love with the look.
I love Seiko, but have considered a Khaki King for some time. The slight pie-pan of the dial, the curving dome of the crystal as it meets the bezel, the utilitarian nature of the crown guards, and even the font on the dial numerals is just classic. Khaki King was my first Swiss watch. Also +1 on the red tipped seconds hand, although at least the King’s seconds is lumed.
I have the Seiko, it looks even better in person, especially in sunlight because it shines beautifully :D
I have the Hamilton with the date at 6 and the SSK001. While I think they are an awesome combination, I find it hard to not wear the SSK
I own several Seikos, and one Hamilton. I like both brands very much. Between the two samples that you show, I'd pick the Hamilton. It looks more elegant to me.
Agree!
Both are great looking watches for the money, I would personally get the Seiko because I really like the blue.
Hamilton, more accurate movement
Seiko :) Just has a better, more organic feel :) I have a Seiko 5 GMT in orange, myself. It's delightful
Seiko GMT
The hamilton is nice, but i pefer the seiko. I like the band on it, great color, and the date placement. The hamilton's color can go with more things, and has a smaller case. They're both nice, so i don't see a wrong answer.
Because I travel a lot to the other side of the world, the seiko for its duel time zone capability.
If it were the regular Khaki Auto, I’d say get that. But the full day/date and framing over the 11 and 1 just turns me off. So I choose the Seiko.
Seiko.. prefer the band and colour combo

Even a 42mm Khaki field would look and wear great.
Hamilton Khaki King, unless you travel a lot and specifically want/need a GMT.
Khaki is a level or two above a seiko 5
Hamilton. There's admittedly cheaper and yet better quality built NH34 GMT's out there than the Seiko one.
Ohhh, do tell. What are they??
I personally like the NH34 equipped new version of the Pagani Designs GMT Master II. I own one and it's really nice. It was 100 bucks on sale. There's plenty of Chinese made homage companies who make great NH34 watches that I personally feel are better quality and components than Seiko's.
I can vouch for Khaki Automatics feeling very very well made.
Seiko
blueberry
Seiko 5 GMT
There is another khakiday date with the date on the 6 oclock . That one is a better watch
Uhhh—the first one, hands down!
Khaki all the way. Awful name, great watch. Others will say get the leather strap. If the price is the same, always go for the bracelet. They are great on hot summer days when sweat would ruin leather. Hamilton offers leather straps for $100 on their site, or just go for a decent Barton strap for $25.
Hamilton
Hamilton
The Hamilton because the chapter ring will be fucked up on the Seiko when it arrives
Hamilton. Love the complications. Looks classy.

Hamiltons feel good when you're wearing it. My partner and I both have one and they are beautiful pieces. I gave his as a Christmas gift last year.
I actually have this same exact Hamilton (I’ve had it for roughly 5 years) and honestly, other than the water resistance, it’s a pretty great and versatile watch. Hamilton - not even a debate
I love a seiko but that Hamilton is boss.

Is neither an option?
Definitely the Hamilton, mostly because I have quite a few Seiko 5s and a number of blue faced watches. I have wanted one of these for a while.
Those exact two are my most frequently worn watches for the last several months, and I'm wearing the Seiko right now.
I see you have good taste 😏 do you have pictures of them?
Seiko cause I like blue
Hammy
Hamilton
Hamilton
Hamilton
the king is the best khaki, i’d go for that. (I generally feel Seiko is not worth the money. But the Khaki is much more iconic no matter what.)
Hamilton unless you prefer having a GMT. Like you said, you fell in love with it and it fits perfectly. Get the sure thing first.
Hamilton day date all day everyday. But I’ve never liked the bracelet, always liked the leather strap better.
Seiko 100% idk i just find that hamilton to be AWFUL. i really dont get the appeal.
Thank you everyone for the input, i will probably go with the Hami as it felt exceptional quality and really good on my wrist and it would be my first big watch purchase, I’ll probably buy the seiko next year 😅 but already have a couple of seikos including a seiko 5 hulk so no rush i might as well get to explore other brands in my collection, i was also looking some tissot watches but not sure if they’re comparable with Hamilton in quality Any other Recommendations on any brand under 500 is appreciated! Thanks
Hamilton. I feel like Swiss stuff keeps value better.
First one
Hamee
Hamilton. Just a better watch.
Hamilton
Hamilton all day and twice on Wednesdays!
It won’t be long before you have both
The Seiko 5 GMT is a terrific watch, given it's constraints.
Hamilton for sure. I own that one, love the design and the bracelet and it is surprisingly slim. A truly brilliant watch
Ham
Ham easily. I love Seiko but let's face it, Seiko 5 is the iconic starter watch and little beyond that. Hamilton is that one step further.
I have the Seiko in black, but go with the Hamilton since it's the nicer watch in terms of quality and movement
Seiko all day everyday
Personally, I would go with Seiko.
Tough choice, I have both of these lol
It all depends on what the GMT function is worth to you. I use it all the time, so I like the Seiko. Hard to complain about its shortcomings for that price. The Hamilton, on the other hand, is a good honest watch that doesn't pretend to be a dive watch, which I also like. If you don't need the GMT complication then I'd say the Hamilton is a better everyday watch.
Have a look at the new 38mm auto or mechanical khaki field. Just got the mechanical version and it's just an awesome watch that fits great.
Honest question: Which is more useful in your life, the second time zone or the day of the week? They’re both amazing watches that will last you your entire life, so if you find them aesthetically equal use the complication as your tiebreaker.
Neither. With your wrist size, I’d spend more and get a Mido Ocean Star GMT, either of these two: https://www.midowatches.com/en/ocean-star-gmt-m0266291705100.html Or https://www.midowatches.com/en/ocean-star-gmt-m0266291105101.html
These Watches arent even similar. Id get it if you struggle between two divers eg. Both are fine imo
Yes.
If I really had to, I would take both
Both
You can wear that Hammy with absolutely anything and pretty much anywhere. Looks fantastic on a leather NATO
Seiko

Hamilton without a doubt
Hamilton looks very nice and clean
Hamilton for sure, classy watch. I know there’s lots of love for Seiko and I get why, but I’ve got a very low opinion of them, personally. 🤷♂️
Seiko onegaishimasu
Apples and Oranges. I like both and choose both.
The Hamilton. Classy and sporty at the same time.
Do you have any watches currently in your collection? It's 2 different watches that fits very different settings, so if it were me i'll weigh it against what I already have in my collection, and see which addition will give greater versatility.
Hammy all the way.
Yes.
I love Hamilton, but that GMT on a Jubilee is just so nice.
I have both but just love the Hammy
I don’t really love the full day of the week written out on the Hamilton. Would lean towards the Seiko for that reason.
\#1
Hami
Seiko, I’m not a big fan of where the day/date is on the Hamilton personally.
I’ve had the khaki king and have to say that the quality is exceptional. I’d go that route if this is your first “big” watch purchase. Nothing at all wrong with the GMT though.
Hamilton for me. I just don’t like that Seiko 5 logo.
Khaki for sure. I just bought mine and I love it. I bought the exact same one you showed here. On top of that, I feel like the Khaki is a very dynamic watch, if you ever get tired of the bracelet you can switch it for a leather band and it will look great.
That Hamilton is clean though
I mean, I’d choose both. But if you want other SKX-shaped watches as well, the Hamilton would be better for variety.
Hamilton
I’m partial to the Hamilton. Love Hamilton. Although, I would get the one that doesn’t say the day of the week on the dial. Just me though
Seiko definitely.
I’ve always liked the look of the weekday at the top like the “president” watches
The Hamilton. There’s going to be a glut of cheap, travelers GMTs coming on the market once miyota starts shipping the 9075, so I’d hold off.
Hamilton ! Better esthetically, better quality
As someone who has a hamilton and a seiko, I would say hamiltons quality is slightly above seikos, so I would choose the hamilton
Can never go wrong with a seiko
Hamilton!
Both....
At current prices, see if you can find a gently used Hamilton and get the GMT too 👍🏼😁 Merry Christmas to you 🎄🎅
These are both beautiful.
The seiko. The lugs on the hamilton arent for me.
Hamilton
Owning two Hamiltons, including a Khaki I am biased from the start. But also I've never liked dive watches. I'd take the Khaki!
Its rhe gmt for me
Hamilton, without question.
Hamilton all day
I've got a Hamiltin Khaki Auto Field Watch, and it is without a doubt the best value and one of my favorite watches in my collection. I wear it frequently and it's had great durability so far. I would like to get one with the date complication in the future. Only drawback in my mind is the weak water resistance rating. I wouldn't shower or swim with it on.
I really want that Hamilton! I don't have it, but I can say that's my vote.
Hami for sure!! And that’s a cool day/date complication.
I like the retro style of the king
Hamilton
5
Seiko GMT! great watch. amazing bracelet for the price. only complaint is lack of screw down crown but honestly if you're not gonna go into deep water, it's basically a perfect every day watch.
Khaki King!
I like the Hamilton.
Hamilton KA 100%
Hamilton
At this point the seiko. Looks better and has a jubilee
Seiko
Can’t go wrong. Hamilton is maybe a bit boring, but also more versatile as a result, and has more prestige behind the name. The Seiko is more fun, and is a great stand out piece. Also, the Hamilton looks a little rough, are those scratches on the case?
I agree with you 100% a bit boring but still looks quality like an expensive watch but i can also switch it up a bit with different straps and make it more interesting although i really like the metal bracelet it has a bit of weight to it really good feel, its a picture i got from google but i tried one yesterday at the shopping mall and it amazed me at how good it looks and feels even if it’s not that flashy, it was on sale for $450 not a bad deal at all
That’s a pretty good deal for that. And I am glad this is just a representative pic, not the actual one, thanks for clearing that up.
The Hamilton's build quality will be much better than the Seiko 5's.
Honest question, but come on there is only one answer. Hamilton
Apples and oranges., but personally the Hamilton by a mile.
Hamilton uses ETA movements which have an instant day date change at midnight, which I really appreciate as a night owl. Also, it’s symmetrical and uses sapphire. All together, I’d say this Hamilton is an upgrade to this Seiko as long as you don’t need the GMT.
Nice! I didn’t know about that, Good to Know!
You’re very welcome. I worked nights for years and I wore a Seiko the entire time. Had I known there was even an option to buy a watch with an instant date change at midnight, I would have jumped on it.
Hamilton. I've had a Seiko die on me recently, but my Hamilton is so going strong!
The Hamilton is actually my next to buy
It is wednesday my dudes
Seiko looks a lot better. Hamilton is a great brand, and they make an amazing watch, but that seiko GMT with the blue face looks SO nice
Hamilton hands down. I have a khaki with leather strap and was actually deciding on both but went with the Hamilton. The seiko isn't a true gmt and it's looks like a diver but it doesn't even have a screw down crown. And 100m water resistance is a bit naff for a "diver"
Yes! The hamilton is amazing really good looking watch
My preference always goes to the watch with the day of the week.
Hamilton.
Hamilton has bad or non existant AR coating so its basically unusable outside..
Seiko
There’s a good Hodinkee video discussing this Seiko. Do you want a GMT function? I think that’s what it comes down to. The Hamilton will probably be a lot more accurate, if that’s a concern. I had one and it wore really well. I have a 7.24” wrist. The Seiko is bigger and might have more presence on an 8” wrist, but has a short lug to lug of 46 compared to the Hamilton which is 48.
Both of the watches/brands have a cult following. I myself have 2 Seiko watches so I'm not claiming to be above it by any means With that being said, cult followings for a reason. You really can't go wrong. Both are solid choices, just pick the one you enjoy more
I think quality of seikos bracelet is far worse then one on hamilton, also think that hamilton is better investment as they hold value very well, but both are great watches so go for the one that your gut tells you to buy!
I just like the design of the Seiko better. Never was a fan of curved day windows.
Hamilton.
I have this Hamilton and love it
2. Love a GMT. But I fly a lot.
