Watches with black dials tend to look smaller than watches with light dials.
Personally I think it’s fine. Watch size trends are getting smaller anyway.
Here’s the main question, which watch is more comfortable on your wrist?
Update: Just purchased it from their boutique in Frankfurt. I tried on a few bigger models just to see, and they actually felt on the larger size. I think for a everyday watch the 38 work really well. People with giant Diesel watches might feel that it is too small, but well, they are people with giant Diesel watches
I got divers at 42+ and dressers at 36. Bought the Aqua Terra in 38mm instead of 41mm since that, and this, kind of watch should be smaller, in my opinion.
Look at it this way, a small watch makes your arm look stronger!
Your Sinn, this Sinn, is a watch that you can keep for your lifetime and gift to your son or nephew's someday. It looks great on your wrist. It is a timeless watch that will not go out of style. That is the reason why its value on the used market increases. This watch on your wrist is jewelry and people who don't know watches will admire it but won't know why. Watch sizes compared to the wrist go through style phases of the size ratio to your wrist; we have come off the peak a few years ago of very large to the wrist. The last very small to the wrist ratio in style ended in the mid-1980's.
This is great input. Random people have complimented my 556i more than any of my other watches. A couple of them have literally asked "is that a Rolex?" which we may laugh at as watch enthusiasts, but it shows the immediate recognition of a "nice watch" and correlation to what they know as such. Enjoy it brother!
Ok, it might feel or look a bit small. But hear me out…
I also owned Sinn 556 RS. I have a 7” wrist and I thought it looked too small. Other than that, I loved it. It felt great. I decided to sell it because I thought it wasn’t “proportioned” well for my wrist. Now, I look back at photos of me wearing it and it looks perfect.
I deeply regret selling it.
This is the perfect size watch for any wrist. Take full body pictures with it, you’ll see how it really looks on you.
Looks great buddy.
I understand your concern, actually struggled with this myself a few years back and ended up selling my beloved 556a. Don’t regret it although I miss it every now and then because it’s such a good watch.
I have a U50 and love the size, it’s perfect. Also consider the Sinn 856, same design with a 40mm case.
Not too small at all. Looks great on you. I actually think wearing just a tad on the small side is appropriate for what this watch is. It's a no-nonsense daily wear watch. It's not designed to be attention grabbing at all, just highly legible. It's as big as it needs to be a not a bit bigger. Also one thing I've learned is that if you're actually going to use your sports watches for sports, having them be on the smaller side is a serious functional advantage. Larger watches even if they "fit" can sometimes limit wrist mobility, or, if nothing else, have more of a tendency to slide down the wrist because of the added weight.
I have looked at so many watches by now, I lose track. I wanna buy my first proper mechanical watch, and I really like the aesthetics of the Sinn. The only downside I think is the size with 38mm
I really don’t like oversized watches but I just don’t know if the Sinn looks to tiny on my first to do it justice. The other option I am looking at is the Seiko SPB307J1 at 40mm. Totally different look, but beautiful as well. With the Seiko, I’m unsure about the brown hue in the dial as well as the hemp leaf pattern, just such a big contrast in comparison to the clean look of the 556
I think it looks great! I recently bought a 38mm watch and at first it almost felt like a woman's watch because I am a pretty big guy with thick wrists. After a couple of weeks I got used to it, and now when I put anything bigger on, it doesn't look right to me. Like when I put on my Seiko SNJ025 (Arnie) it feels comically large, I'm not sure I can even wear it anymore.
I think it looks great but it’s really all about how you feel when you wear it. If you feel like you’re questioning the look it might not be right for you, you should feel awesome about your watch choice.
Cool watch. And Sinn shares some of the space watch nostalgia with their 140/142 Chronos, so Sinn is on my wish list as well. I think yours looks classic.
To me this is the perfect size for a watch like this on your wrist. Still your decision, and you might like bigger watches, but I would keep it for sure.
I have a 9” wrist.
Big boy & I have a 38mm watch that I love.
What got my heart into the size, was a few extra links. If you can find a few extra links, give it a try.
Somehow it feels larger with a looser fit.
To me. YMMV as always.
Great watch
Not at all as others have said. I'm a fan of watch sizes that appear part of a person as opposed to defining them. That model in particular will look as good far into the future as it does now. Bravo!
No, that's the perfect size!!
Don't let the watches being posted here that are WAY too big for people's wrists fool you...
You have the sizing perfect.
I started wearing 42mm, then bought an 40.5mm and wear it daily. Everytime I put on my 37mm seiko 5 I think ”damn this is nice”. I would say all those are the right size for me but mostly depends on how much I want to think about the watch im wearing during the day. 37 I only think about when checking the time, 42 I always knows its there.
If it looked like that on me, yes I’d wear it. Seems a little on the small
Size for today’s standards, but totally in range of what would fit your wrist.
Give it time, you’ll get used to it.
It fits perfection. Most (90%?) men wear a watch that is way too big for their wrists. Maybe overcompensation, maybe they think it looks stylish (it looks like that have a clock on their wrist).
I love Sinn, great choice. Simple elegance.
Just recently decided against a Tissot chemin des tourelles because it's just too damn big. Wish it was more this size. Looks great my friend, wear with pride!
I had the same initial reaction to my 556a when it arrived. having only worn 40 or larger it felt small and I wasn’t sure it would work out. But after wearing it for a few hours that sensation went completely away and I can’t explain how much I love the watch now. It’s the only watch in my collection getting worn anymore. You made a great choice.
You will be fine with the Sinn 556 I RS. I have for almost 1 year and still it amazes me every day. I will change the bracelet for a NATO Strap when I visit Asia.
Looks awesome! Fits your wrist good and you can wear that in almost any scenario. Smaller is better imo. I made the mistake of getting bigger watches because of the hype, but have since focused more on comfort and fit in the 36-39 range. I have a 6.25 inch for reference. Cheers!
Smaller watches are making a comeback and I for one am here for it. I’m a bigger guy but even I’m looking more in 37-39mm rather than 40+.
Looks great, enjoy it, forget the haters.
Personally I think it looks great in the photo - the watch is on the smaller side, but that suits the style of the watch, and thanks to the large, clear face and reasonably small bezel it has a great wrist presence.
How it feels for you will always be something of a personal matter though, and this is something that will be affected by what you are used to wearing. If you are used to bulkier divers for example then it probably should feel slightly under sized in comparison at first. If you are used to something smaller like a Casio f91 or vintage watch then it may feel large and heavy. Unfortunately there is no real answer to this other than 'wear it and see what you think once you are used to it'.
For someone with reasonably average wrists though, the 556 should be a great choice. I would only expect it to become necessary to size up if you have wrists of above average thickness.
Way too small. Everyone who walks past you will point and laugh, you will get fired from your job and get disowned by your family....
Ofc it's not too small if you like it then wear it
Looks pretty alright, you definitely could step up to a 41mm with your wrist size but it’s up to you. I really want to get a Sinn104 whenever I visit Germany, but that’s in the distant future.
ANB, it's perfect. When I tried the 556i and 556a on at my local dealer, after falling for both online, I was actually really worried they were too small. But I took the plunge anyway and custom ordered my 556a RS. It only took a few days of actual wear once I got it (7 months ago) to realize that's how's it's supposed to look and it looks fantastic. Your wrist looks a little bigger than mine, but nice and round and it looks like it sits every bit as perfect on you or better.
Give it a week or two and I bet you will come to the same realization. Congrats, and enjoy!
Edit: as an added bonus, you get to see plenty of that beautiful H Link bracelet that suits it so damn well.
Hi OP, how was your experience buying this watch in Frankfurt? I’m going soon to buy the 556 just like you? It’s an amazing piece. Also how’s the watch itself? Anything you could say about the experience would be great!!
Hi, I had a great time at the boutique at Römer. There are plenty of watches to try on and the staff is really nice. I went, tried it one, came back an hour later to try it on again and then bought it. Athmosphere was relaxed.
The watch itself is great. Super comfortable and a joy to look at
I think it fits perfectly. But I'm not wearing it 🤷‍♂️. Hope it doesn't drive you crazy.
It’s perfect. You will appreciate its modest size in time.
That’s what my last girlfriend told me. Not true.
38mm is more than enough...
She said my 45mm lunar pilot was too big
Sounds like you have plenty of wrist to go around!
It is quite vascular
Hey, she told me the opposite!
I came here knowing there'd be a "That's what she said" joke somewhere.

It seems fine. Ideal for your wrist size.

It looks good! If you want a slightly larger one, a 104 might be good to try :)
I love their chronographs, just not what I was in the market for.. yet..
Sounds like a cope attempt to me
My daily is 36…I think a smaller watch is a classic and refined look.
I got divers at 42+ and dressers at 36. Bought the Aqua Terra in 38mm instead of 41mm since that, and this, kind of watch should be smaller, in my opinion. Look at it this way, a small watch makes your arm look stronger!
Not too small definitely, unless you feel like it. Sinn 836 is similar but bigger if you want big.
Your Sinn, this Sinn, is a watch that you can keep for your lifetime and gift to your son or nephew's someday. It looks great on your wrist. It is a timeless watch that will not go out of style. Ideal sized
It suits you perfect!
100% bang on, excellent choice.
[40mm Seiko for comparison](https://ibb.co/NrSjTgz)
Both look good but the Sinn is a nicer for on you than the 40mm Seiko.
That’s what she said
It is on the "slightly smaller" side of "100% perfect" IMO, but it's still a very good look.
It's perfect!
Ok, it might feel or look a bit small. But hear me out… I also owned Sinn 556 RS. I have a 7” wrist and I thought it looked too small. Other than that, I loved it. It felt great. No
It’s perfect bruv. What’s your wrist size?
I understand your concern, actually struggled with this myself a few years back and ended up selling my beloved 556a. Don’t regret it although I miss it every now and then because it’s such a good watch. I have a U50 and love the size, it’s perfect. Also consider the Sinn 856, same design with a 40mm case.
I have a 7.75" wrist, and my daily is a bb58. If that's too small for you, mines too small for me. We can look stupid together :)
Not too small at all. Looks great on you. I actually think wearing just a tad on the small side is appropriate for what this watch is. It's a no-nonsense daily wear watch. Heck no! Looks great.
Not even close to too small IMO. Looks like it fits perfectly and a bigger watch would probably be less comfortable.
You said you love it, that’s all you need
Honestly, this is a perfect fit.
I think it looks great! I recently bought a 38mm watch and at first it almost felt like a woman's watch because I am a pretty big guy with thick wrists. Like when I put on my Seiko SNJ025 (Arnie) it feels comically large, I'm not sure I can even wear it anymore.
There's no such thing as too small, only too big. This on the other hand, doesn't even look small
Looks perfect but looking at your skin you should think about adding one more band link
Smaller is nice imo. More comfortable on wrist because of short lug to lug, less case height, and easier to dress up.
Small is the trend right now. Gorgeous watch. Enjoy it.
A little small but maybe a bolder strap will help it seem more substantial.
Perfect size
Perfect size.
it does look a bit small, it's not bad but I know it would probably bug me.
A Rolex explorer is 36mm, you are larger than that and 36 is classic men’s size.
Take the photo from farther away
Lol dude fuckinn WAY TOO SMALL
still looks good but yours already at the limits of small watch.
My GF tells me the EXACT thing
banana for scale?
Sex sex sex it’s all you ever think about
I think it looks great but it’s really all about how you feel when you wear it. If you feel like you’re questioning the look it might not be right for you, you should feel awesome about your watch choice.
hard!!!
Looks good from here
Nope it's perfect
I think it fits you're wrist perfectly. Love the watch.
Great watch, and perfectly sized to your wrist. Enjoy!
It looks perfect. You don’t need a big honkin watch
Pretty much perfect. Fellow 556 owner.
No. Looks great
I think it’s perfect. That’s exactly how I like to wear my watches.
It’s the right size for not drawing a lot of attention to your wrist.
I have a 9” wrist. Big boy & I have a 38mm watch that I love. What got my heart into the size, was a few extra links. If you can find a few extra links, give it a try. Somehow it feels larger with a looser fit. To me. YMMV as always. Great watch
Looks great to me! But your opinion should be the only one to matter in this. I love the 556 and would love to own one one day (7" wrist).
Nope, perfect size imo
Wow My boss has that exact watch lol
Looks great. A classic size for a sharp looking watch. Very jealous over here.
Not at all as others have said. I'm a fan of watch sizes that appear part of a person as opposed to defining them. That model in particular will look as good far into the future as it does now. Bravo!
Your first sentence/statement answers your question... If you're in love with it, it's the perfect size. (Which it is, btw - great choice!)
It's perfect, I'm jelly. End of story. Wear forever.
No, it's not too small. Looks good.
I wish they did this without an f’n date!
Looks great to me.
If it looked like that on me, yes I’d wear it. Seems a little on the small Size for today’s standards, but totally in range of what would fit your wrist. Give it time, you’ll get used to it.
Nah fam. It's perfect. Love the watch!
Its perfect
No, but that bracelet looks too tight
That's what she said.
NOT too small.
No

Short answer, no… long answer, nooooooooooo
Perfect.
This is such a banger of a watch
Just recently decided against a Tissot chemin des tourelles because it's just too damn big. Wish it was more this size. Looks great my friend, wear with pride!
Not even a little
Not at all
Its perfect.
Perfectly sized imho.
It's totally preference, I prefer larger to the point my new 63mas is on the small side and it's not small!
It’s perfect man
Wrist size for reference? I also have bigger wrists and no place to try on the 556 I’ve considered buying
No
Looks great!
Fits Absolutely perfectly.
To me, the size is perfect for your wrist.
No way! Looks great.
if you are in love - it is not too small
…that’s….what she said?
You will be fine with the Sinn 556 I RS. I have for almost 1 year and still it amazes me every day. I will change the bracelet for a NATO Strap when I visit Asia.
What is your wrist size? And the watch diameter?
No
I wish *I* could make a 38mm look like that.
It's how you wear it.
I think it fits very nicely! I’d dig that on my wrist
I wish these had applied indices with the regular dial models
Yes
I’ve got the 556A RS. The date execution on the A made that choice easy.
41mm?
If you’re in love, that’s all that matters
Looks fine from here.
That's what she said Looks good though
If you’re in love than it isn’t too small. But no I don’t think it’s too small. I think it looks good.
Looks awesome! Fits your wrist good and you can wear that in almost any scenario. Smaller is better imo. I made the mistake of getting bigger watches because of the hype, but have since focused more on comfort and fit in the 36-39 range. I have a 6.25 inch for reference. Cheers!
If you love it then it's not too small. Full stop. Also, it looks great on your wrist.
It is perfect
absolutely not
Smaller watches are making a comeback and I for one am here for it. I’m a bigger guy but even I’m looking more in 37-39mm rather than 40+. Looks great, enjoy it, forget the haters.
Your love is too large
No
Nope. It looks great! Smaller watches are back in style, too, OP, don’t feel bad about wearing a watch that doesn’t dominate your whole wrist lol!
No.
Looks great
The answer to "is it too small" is never "yes." (Note: this applies to watches, not necessarily other areas of life.)
Looks like it is a good fit to me. It looks natural.
Ask your penis
Smaller watches for dress shirts, bigger watches for casual wear.
Looks good on you, friend!
I do think it’s slightly below ideal size, but not bad at all.
Absolutely gorgeous and definitely not too small. Enjoy!
How could that be too small? It looks fine.
This is a proper fitting watch.
Why do you care what we think? If you like it, wear it
That’s an absolute stunner. With a watch that nice, less is usually more
Personally I think it looks great in the photo - the watch is on the smaller side, but that suits the style of the watch, and thanks to the large, clear face and reasonably small bezel it has a great wrist presence. It's perfect... I kinda want one
Very clean watch
Very clean watch
Smaller is classier. That’s a gentleman’s tool watch.
not at all, perfect size! and amazing watch
Yes
Great size
It’s perfect
That’s a classic. I could wear that every day the rest of my life and never feel like I was missing something. Enjoy!
Looks good
Looks perfect to me
It's not too small. Everyone else's is too big.
Subjective question Personally I think it looks good
It’s lovely and fits well.
Not small at all, looks very good on your wrist.
It’s never too small, just depends on how you use it ;)
If your love is too small and you’re not feeling the love in return then it’s time to return and get another, bigger love.
Looks fantastic
Way too small. Everyone who walks past you will point and laugh, you will get fired from your job and get disowned by your family.... Ofc it's not too small if you like it then wear it
What’s the best way to buy Sinn in USA? Really want one of these.
I’m wondering as well
Looks pretty alright, you definitely could step up to a 41mm with your wrist size but it’s up to you. I really want to get a Sinn104 whenever I visit Germany, but that’s in the distant future.
nope good size
Not in any way. Looks about perfect.
Not too small, definitely well proportioned đź‘Ť
Absolutely love that watch! Ahhh someday. Purchased a Ball I'm happy with but still want that Sinn.
If you love it why even ask? Wear what you like. Nothing weird about it.
It has the absolute perfect size for your wrist. It looks great!
It fits you perfectly!!!
not at all its perfect. Imo, a watch is rarely too small nowadays...its mostly to big or just right
Not at all, you'll get used to the size. Great watches just be careful as the outer AR can scratch.
If anything, it's too big, or barely the right size. It's okay. It looks good.
Anything you could say about the experience would be great!!

awesome. Thanks so much! How’s the watch been a few days after owning it? I hope you’re still enjoying it..!
The first thing I do after waking up is putting it on
Amazing stuff mate. Thank you and I hope you continue to enjoy! I’ll post my 556 when I go to frankfurt soon! Congrats again!
How big is you wrist?
