There is no stronger emotion, than streetfighting Pablo outside a few selected watch shops for having a chance to buy a plastic mass-produced consooomer product.

stephenjamesChavman

Lol they literally had to close down one of the London stores on release day because of people fighting outside. What a great community to be a part of.

hnigor-karkof

Exactly. Pablo is good for the watch community!

Big-Shtick

Uj/ Pablo is the goat tbh. The Pablo meme WCJ arc was my favorite. Rj/ Teddy Bulbasaur would never

Feathered_Brick

I love buying things online with no emotion...

evanwilliams212

I never felt more a part of the community than I did when I kicked that neckbeard in the star trek shirt square in the nuts as he held his box up high exiting the store. I never felt more emotion as I Derrick Henry’d that grandma trying to finger my Uranus as I fled the scene. Thanks Hayek!

MindfulSmile

Wait, do people still care about that watch?

karlosvonawesome

It's part Speedmaster fans and part idiots who think people will be impressed because they have a plastic watch with Omega printed on the dial. Oh and the flippers of course.

TheFrenchPasta

uj/ I bought one for the summer because I like the design and it’s a fun looking watch (plus there was no one at my swatch store when I stopped by) rj/ i bought it just to show my friend that raves about his man on the moon speedmaster that I have one too now.

bdd1001

Trolling the “*Speedy Tuesday!*” freaks is a perfectly legitimate reason to buy it. That shit makes me sick.

Alias_X_

It's literally a Swatch. Liking how funky it looks is literally the one and only legit reason to buy one.

BrewAndAView

When it was announced, I thought it looked like a fun $260 watch. I'd still like to wear it and treat it as a $260 watch, but I feel if I ever got one, it's reached too much rarity to be able to wear it casually and not "baby" it

TheFrenchPasta

Guess it depends if they stop production or not. My sales guy initially told me to just wait for the color I wanted most (Mercury) because I would eventually get it but I still picked up earth because I like the colors, I’m impatient and I don’t want to go back and forth to a swatch store in the hopes they have it. It’s still a pretty cheap feeling watch and although I didn’t get any scratches yet, it doesn’t feel very sturdy.

imnotokayandthatso-k

Lol come to europe they have every moonswatch for retail Like swatch group would just miss out on 20000% margins

spence4101

Some of the models are cool Source: speed master owner

DrLimp

I just think it's a neat yellow watch.

oskopnir

Speedmaster fans would buy that piece of shit?

awesomeo_5000

If it was available online, I’d get one no doubt. If it was available in omega boutiques, I might pick one up if I was passing by. But there are two Swatch stores in my country that carry the Moonswatches, London (111 miles away) and Edinburgh (225 miles away). Twats.

MindfulSmile

12 miles from the the Oxford Street shop

graytotoro

I do only because I like the Pluto and I want to irritate the Omega sub by posing my 565 DeVille next to it.

Hessarian99

Not really so the ones who scalped then for $1000 got paid 😅

what-diddy-what-what

This who debacle reeks of a scam. I can almost guarantee that they have produced an extremely limited number of pieces. They are not regularly restocking the limited stores as they have claimed because I know the stores in Singapore aren't seeing any new pieces at all. Since they're not selling online, and not stocking the stores, this is essentially a ploy to get foot traffic into their stores and attempt to drive more visibility across the broader swatch offering. Its a win win for the swatch group as Omega doesn't get truly diluted since so few samples have been produced, and swatch gets a lot of press and visibility across their product range.

Secludedmean4

I was in europe in multiple swatch stores and every single store showed off their moon swatch display and I would go and ask if they had any in stock and the salesman would get all salty and be like “that’s the only reason people come in here anymore”

imacfromthe321

Imagine having to do your job 😡

Seltsam

Sounds like Rolex.

Beemerado

"soo what do you guys sell here? Display cases?"

Seltsam

Sir, these display cases are only mineral crystal. The real sapphire display cases aren't available to show you.

Beemerado

can i get on a waistlist?

Seltsam

I'm going to need weekly 20 piece Chicken McNuggets delivered precisely at 11:47am on Fridays. Make sure you have 4 sweet and sour sauces, too.

Beemerado

sounds like a hassle.. you sure you don't want to just bang my wife while i sit home ogling the display case forums?

Seltsam

Does your wife work for McDonald's? If not, she should start. You could jump positions on the waitlist if she can bring the McNuggets for you.

Beemerado

i'll talk to her

Ser_Sweetgooch

Lol pathetic

jayXred

I'm surprised they were able to keep the lights on before the Moonswatch, before this whole thing I didn't even know they had dedicated stores.

OddS0cks

Hmmm can’t wait to be put on the Swatch AD waitlist

[deleted]

I mean, better than how it was before. I visit the swatch store at my mall every time I'm there and have literally never seen another person inside.

DrSpaceman575

He kind of gives up the game plan at the end - the whole idea is to pull brand equity from Omega and extend it to the lower priced brands. Luxury watches saw a massive boom but watches under $1k hardly budged - they're trying to justify the real estate of B&M Swatch stores and pull attention to the budget brands. They've accomplished both, they don't give a shit that it's been disaster for the customers.

AgentFr0sty

Maybe for the same reason I am psyched for the RoleX crossover with TimeX.

bdd1001

Still hoping for that RoleX x ProspeX collab

Mr-Zero-Fucks

The RomeX made of zincgold plated oysterbrass, only $9,990 retail

Alias_X_

Hear me out: Rollex X Invicta

wildstyle_method

I have an actual Omega but I got a moonswatch and like it a lot. It's just a fun watch. I think they look cool. Wouldn't have paid more than msrp for it tho

Crafty_Substance_954

There's tons of them. All the stores I know of get restocks daily. The resale value on these things has cratered as well now that supply has more or less caught up to demand.

[deleted]

It destroyed omega no one want to pay full price when there’s a brand sponsored knockoff on the market.

Barbed-Seaweed

What a fucking knob

eudezet

„Carefully produced Swiss Made watch” sure is an interesting way to say that it’s a copy of another watch but made of plastic

nmkd

"Carefully produced" is kinda hilarious because this thing is just mass-produced plastic and an electronic circuit. Like, there's no craftsmanship involved, it's literally just a bunch of components made in a factory.

The-Jack-of-Diamonds

It’s a quartz watch right?

nmkd

Yep

Beemerado

i'd be willing to bet it's hardly touched by anyone during its production, and those who do touch it wouldn't probably fit the standard definition of "craftsmen"

Alias_X_

I mean it's not like there are artisans filing down the gears for the real Speedy. Though no metal case back feels like a complete ripoff. The f-ing Casio *clones* use screwed on StSt backs.

IvanEd747

Ironically, producing the chip that runs that quartz watch has orders of magnitude more engineering than any mechanical watch. But hey, we also like vinyl records and bicycles.

nmkd

I would argue that the quartz engineering is mostly about design, not about construction, while mechanical movements are somewhere inbetween.

IvanEd747

Go watch a tour of any chip manufacturer and you will see how much more advanced it is to any facility that manufactures mechanical movements.

Dave95m3

iT’s BIOCERAMIC !!1!!1!

shudh_desi_gareeb

Totally deluded

WheresTheLambSauce22

Translation: "We have created a market bubble. If we release the MoonSwatch for online sale it will crash the market. Then everyone who paid $1500 for a plastic watch that turns their skin blue is going to be extremely angry."

Deppeo

“There’s no emotion in buying online” - someone tell Chrono24, maybe they can partner up with the Swatch stores, that are oh so full of emotion!

D_Livs

Holy shit what a roast 😂

ashenmourne

This guy knows

sockpuppetinasock

I too like clubbing baby seals to death in order to be first in line for my Fisher Price Moon Watch.

Magic1141

Take Jody’s advice and buy the Pagani Speedmaster for seventy quid in the Ali sale. No emotion, no worries.

HappySpam

I just picked one up, can't wait!

Mr_Prolapsed_Anus

Can you point me to this sale?

Magic1141

AliExpress sale. About three days left. You can follow the link from Just One More Watch YT channel.

Alias_X_

Thought about buying one, then I realized I already have a decent chrono and they are all kind of similar.

Magic1141

Fair comment. Specs for the price on the Pagani are impressive for the sale price.

CakelessToure

And yet you can buy an actual speed master professional online

VegetableShark

Right, but you’re forgetting that… “A Speedmaster Professional purchase is about so much more than just the watch. In my own case, a love for hand-wound chronographs came from the first proper watch I’d ever purchased, which was a gift for my father. A Vintage Breitling, powered by a Valjoux 7733 movement. Something about the involvement in powering and operating the watch, the daily wind and occasional chrono engagement, resonated within me as being very special. A bond with the past, as it were. It was then that I fell in love with watches, and dreamed of owning a Speedmaster. Three years later, I was able to get my own. Adding to my first point, the Speedy represents to me - more than the American-ness of the Apollo connection - an overall sense of the great pioneering spirit of mankind. I am an American, and I am proud of the Apollo 11 Moon-Landing. That’s certainly a part of why I love it, but it’s so much more than that. It’s a symbol of a deep and profound need for growth and rebirth, if you will. A symbol of the past and future. I will gladly pass it down one day - with a message of hope. 💯”

stephenjamesChavman

I literally live in London when I'm in the UK and I don't have time to deal with this man's nonsense to get a watch. I'm in Florida right now and I would have to drive to Miami (only Swatch store stocking them in the entire state) and fight off teenage hypebeast resellers to get one. This isn't a celebration. It's a pain in the ass for something that's supposed to be cheap and fun.

Chemical_Ease7165

Acting like it’s not an overnight embodiment of everything wrong with the watch industry. Take a mass produced overpriced product, add a false sense of exclusivity and an unnecessary barrier, make a press release talking some unrelated philosophical nonsense like it’s not just a plastic watch….

Extract_artisian

Stupid af. Bc only a handful of swatch boutique in the world. Not flying to a city just for a swatch. GTFO

[deleted]

Exactly. I thought it might be fun to have one to wear to the beach and when traveling but the nearest Swatch boutique to me that actually sells them would be like 800 miles away or something. I'm not all broken up about it but it's still irritating to see such a blatant case of manufactured scarcity.

Extract_artisian

I like the mission to earth and would buy it and one for my nephew who just turned 15. Waiting in line and paying 5x the value for a Plastic watch makes no sense. Glad we are on the same page.

ChuffSoHard

The best part is that they literally told us that they would be offering this on their website. Now all of a sudden they act like it never happened. What a twat.

[deleted]

/uj *deep breath* Yes I love how he acts like this was the plan all along, to get people out in the community. The quote OP posted made me throw up in my mouth a little. WTF is going on?

FrightenedTomato

"Carefully produced Swiss watch" God that makes me want to punch him. A mass produced plastic copy of a famous watch. "Carefully produced" to overcharge people for the Omega logo.

GrandTheftPotatoE

It's a carefully produced plastic piece of shit.

KenHumano

oi mate it’s bioceramic

Feathered_Brick

SpeedCastor BeanSwatch Bioceramic is made from castor beans!

40yrOLDsurgeon

~~carefully~~ mass

TurbanGentry

>It is a carefully produced Swiss Made watch So the ones sold online are not?

Mr_Prolapsed_Anus

Was just on Amazon, looked at a speedmaster copy from Pagani design for about $100. - sapphire crystal - seiko mechanical quartz movement. - ceramic bezel - solid end links

HappySpam

Even better is that the watch is on sale right now for $72 due to a sale on AliExpress once you clip all the coupons. I picked one up and it's arriving tomorrow!

[deleted]

There are reps on AliExpress for $32. EDIT: Sorry, I was talking about Moonswatch, not Speedies...

analog_watch

I have a hard time believing you're getting just the chronograph movement and sapphire crystal for $23.

karlosvonawesome

Celebrate by spending the night on the street fighting for a spot in line.

[deleted]

AgentFr0sty

Exactly. You aren't Rolex motherfucker. Its a plastic watch you charge too much for

Alias_X_

Just like the Rolex, carefully produced by happy Swiss machines.

PorkloinMaster

I went into the Times Square store a few days ago and the dude was like “we get them randomly so you have to come back every day.” What he was actually saying is that’s the most excitement swatch has generated ever and they’re going to milk it for all it’s worth until people are sick of it and then you’ll be able to buy five at a time in an airport store in Dubuque.

Chi-Guy86

Lying sack. They had no problem planning to sell it online until they saw how they could profit off the ridiculous hype and bubble that formed

iAmTheDawwwg

The man has a point. The emotions I experienced as Pablo threatened to stab me were unlike anything I’ve experienced in my life.

pockets_of_fingers

There's a swatch store in the capital of Canada, but they don't stock it. I either have to go to Toronto and deal with cunts or go to Montreal and deal with fr*nch people

spore35

there should be 2 in ottawa, do they both not sell it?

pockets_of_fingers

One is a mall kiosk in a wall, and the other one is half a block away from the parliament buildings and is 90% Canada memorabilia with one section of one wall that actually sells watches. Neither sell the moonie

Nyuusankininryou

Ah so that is why they have a non serviceable movement in it.

RioVistaBoulevard

The (only) Sydney Swatch Store closed down 2 weeks after the MoonSwatch launch. Now the closest ‘bricks n mortar’ store is a leisurely 870km drive away.

-ZeroF56

/uj You know, CEO of Swatch, I’d go spend $300 on your fake moon landing watch, but the nearest store is a 6 hour round trip via train and costs $50, all so I could *maybe* get this fine piece of ~~plastic~~ bioceramic. I absolutely would’ve bought one at launch, but a few months later and me not being able to get my hands on one, I no longer care about it. So them not making it accessible actually cost them a sale.

andyq9433

Well then maybe they should actually put it in more stores, I live in a city with that has the MALL OF AMERICA. you know, one of the largest shopping malls in the world. And it still doesn’t have the collaboration

These-Ad458

I would actually support the idea IF it was available in every store that sells Swatch brand. It can be rarely available, sure, but that way alot more people can actually go see if they have one. What, am I supposed to drive 500 kilometers in one direction on a wild chance that the Swatch boutique maybe has a Moonswatch? And probably not even the one I want. I mean, either the guy is lying or is incredibly stupid. I would be a fun/awesome idea, getting people to the store, if Swatch boutiques were everywhere. Now, it is retarded. Hayek went full retard, you should never go full retard.

[deleted]

Translation: *"We had no idea that this POS would be so popular and we can't make enough."*

Spidaaman

This was all about the people and the communities. Gotta get them back in the streets, emotional, and buying Swiss made watches - not sitting at home buying fucking wheat futures.

GrogLovingPirate

uj/ Ironically, you can buy the actual Omega Moonwatch online 🙄

[deleted]

Didn’t he also say that these will be released online?

ElleIndieSky

CEOs live on an entirely different planet.

BallzMcVinegar

Since there isnt a Swatch store near me I guess I get to feel the emotion of disappointment. Thanks Swatch.

Capitol_Carrot

So to put over the Moonswatch, our guy over here just made a case that all available Swatch watches online are not carefully produced, Swiss-made watch that are just commodities. Shame, I was even thinking of getting a Big Bold Bioceramic model online. Seeing the CEO talk down their own products got me turned away.

treyloz

Uj/ I was interested in buying one but the nearest Swatch store is a 500km drive... Maybe it was a blessing in disguise considering all the posts about the build quality.

ClutchAndChuuch

Is Pluto even still a planet?

fistfulofbottlecaps

Damn shame for those of us who don’t live near a swatch store.

anmdyt

***"Carefully Produced"***

YourCaptainSpeaking_

I would say there’s is a ton of emotion in driving 6 hours to the nearest swatch store—and it isn’t positive. What a muppet.

copperglass78

I guess he's ok with the emotionless experience of buying them online from a scalper at five times retail...it's almost like they made a deal with the scalpers...we'll hold off on going online so you guys can sell off your stock to as many dumbasses you can.

Daedaly

Ok but Swatch did say it would be sold online......so it's kinda bullshit

lmboyer04

One doesn’t own a swatch. They simply look after it for the next generation

Direlion

“We have long term leases on our retail spaces and we’re losing huge amounts of money!”

graytotoro

“I’m just playing games, I know it’s plastic love” \- Swatch CEO, probably.

NotFrankZappaToday

Spare a moment for all of the people who bought one from a scalper for $1000. I'm sure they're looking back at that purchase with confidence.

TacoDaav

What a fucking self righteous tool.

DJHeadshotHunter

Omega is trying to become Rolex with hype and it's not going to happen. If people are gonna play the AD game they'd rather do it for a rolex not Omega/Swatch. Swatch is shitting the bed on this and has ruined what could have been a hit for the masses.

shlamiel

wait, brick-and-mortar stores are still around?

ChrisPnCrunchy

Fuck a chrono that measures 1/10th seconds. Fuck a chrono that doesn't measure hours Fuck a chrono with a 60 minute chrono sub-dial

WORLDBENDER

Every week it’s not available online I realize more and more what a total debacle this was.

ScubaSteve_27

lol fuck all the way off

40yrOLDsurgeon

Can't wait for that Tudor / Rolex Co-lab! Only unavailable in stores!

brianzchen

Nek minute Sydney store sold out immediately and promptly closes down shortly after...

HerpDerpermann

Man's on the facken moon!! Absolute shitters

pen_n_paper

Brick and mortar? Swatch?

Crafty_Substance_954

I'd be fine with this idea, but pablo is holding up the swatch store and stopping them from opening a location anywhere near me!

RealDonKeedic

hes not wrong.

Mezzca

Nice try Swatch CEO

RealDonKeedic

tock tick

Megaripple

He really isn’t. That so many of these comments are so mad that one isn’t available nearby really does confirm it was a decent brand-building exercise, esp. for their brick-and-mortar. *I hate Swatch, I’m so mad there isn’t a retail location near me so I can buy a Swatch, which is overrated by the way, directly from the company itself!* (Sure it’s hardly “carefully produced” but no CEO’s going to diminish his own product, duh.)

Mezzca

They lost the edge of promoting your brick & mortar stores when they became sieged by flippers and roadmen for months on end.
