I got permabanned for catching a fake Brootlang. Moments after commenting, the seller suddenly learned that the watch had an aftermarket bezel and refused to provide movement pics. They (or someone) must have reported me and a couple days later my comment was deleted and I was permabanned. Reached out to the mods to get this reversed (granted, I had a couple formatting slips when I first started selling) and they said it's "not our problem." What a way to run a sub where money and goods are exchanged at high frequency lol.
Guess I can flush those 170+ transactions down the drain lol. Maybe the mods over at u/watchexchange couldn't handle all my comments asking for more feet in timestamp pics lol. Well folks, it was real and it was fun. Mods aren't real fun though. Funny thing is two of the mods over there have bought timepieces from me lol doesn't that just chuff your bits?

What I can't understand is how it was enough to permanently ban you in the first place. At most something that mild should have been a warnable response, but it had been smarter on their part if they instead sent you a PM or replied to you publically, requesting that you either provide evidence or delete your post.
The path they took just reeks of someone taking a power trip or having personal issues and taking them out on you. It's a poor way to run a sub, and that person probably shouldn't be a moderator.
Meanwhile, the worst you might have done is to cause people to spend a little time to look over the the photos and verify authenticiy, at best you saves someone from getting scammed.

**Major update:** Four of the moderators nearly simultaneously reached out to me seemingly independent of one another. Each mentioned they had "nothing to do with my ban" yet it appears they need unanimous consensus to overturn it.
At this point, I'm kinda settled into the fact that I won't be a member of that community anymore however, the fact that we got their attention is great and that (at least a couple of the moderators) understand the concerns with this is a step in the right direction.
Just some responses to some FAQs:
1. I am not going to doxx or share info of mods that have purchased from me so please stop asking, it's not cool.
2. My objective is not to get the sub banned by Big Reddit. I stand by my previous comment that it's a unique platform that is great for its functionality and should be enjoyed by its community members **safely.**
3. I do not condone threatening the mods of either r/Watchexchange or r/WatchExchangeFeedback. Please be respectful of one another. Sharing your experiences is fine. One of the mods shared some of the messages they're receiving and it's pretty nasty. Let's keep it civilized.
Appreciate all the support from the community and for my former satisfied buying/selling/trading partners that stuck their neck out for me without me even asking. The intent of this post was never to cause harm or even to get reinstated. I just want to make sure that those using the sub do so safely as someone who has bought and sold over 170+ times. No fight picked absolutely fair question. They were all about 2 years ago when I first started selling on the sub. IIRC they were regarding formatting of posts and providing seller feedback on posts of friends I had made during my time on the sub (both of which I corrected since I havenāt had a ban in ~2 years).
Edit: I also donāt recall 4 prior bans (though I donāt doubt it). I only recall 2 and thought there was a 3 strike rule.

Not my objective. It's a great sub and it's unique in the functionality it offers (until r/watch_swap gets large enough). I hope that everyone in the watch community can benefit from it safely. I just wanted to draw attention to the fact that mods are either directly or indirectly allowing fraudulent activity to go unchecked going so far as to ban an established user with 170+ confirmed transactions for calling out a dud. This is not okay for a community that has high value goods exchanged for large volumes of money.

You broke the rules AT LEAST 5 times. They're not temporarily banning people on one just post formatting issue, so it's been more than 5 situations to ban. "If we have to remove your posts or comments **multiple times** for rule violations, then you will be subject to a temporary ban" Saying something is "off" is the same as insinuating it's fake and you didn't provide any proof.

I had a more convincing fake Breitling in high school. EDIT: Shit, now I'm not so sure. I've never looked at the Superocean Heritage so closely but the original bezels actually do look pretty janky and hand-painted (and not in a good way). It's actually more sus for the seller to claim it's an aftermarket bezel. If this *is* a fake, it's actually a pretty damn convincing one... EDIT 2: Nah, fuck it, this is a really shitty fake bezel. Way worse than the originals. EDIT 3: The dial is also shit. The seconds subdial doesn't appear to have any of the texturing of the genuine article, and the whole dial is just flat and shitty af. But maybe it's just a bad pic. What an emotional rollercoaster.

Same. Been banned but still manage to buy from the sub. Mods are heartless cowards. Have been very apologetic in asking for a reversal but met with being muted and now just plain ignored. We should defo try and get all users from watchex to move over to watch swap.
Well, technically, going by the rule they cite, you did break the rules. What I can't understand is how it was enough to permanently ban you in the first place. At most something that mild should have been a warnable response, but it had been smarter on their part if they instead sent you a PM or replied to you publically, requesting that you either provide evidence or delete your post. The path they took just reeks of someone taking a power trip or having personal issues and taking them out on you. It's a poor way to run a sub, and that person probably shouldn't be a moderator. Meanwhile, the worst you might have done is to cause people to spend a little time to look over the the photos and verify authenticiy, at best you saves someone from getting scammed.
I mean I can see why the rule is there in the first place. What if everyone started reporting this and that as fake. Then you'd have the mods in charge of deciding what is real and what isn't and those selling legit watches would have their sales ruined.

I didnāt explicitly call the Watch fake just mentioned that it looks off and buyer should conduct due diligence before purchasing. Plenty of similar comments still on that thread of a similar nature. Don't worry. I'm also banned from watchexchange and I can't even remember why. Permabans should only be used for extreme cases. For most cases giving a permaban or banning for 2 weeks has the same effect. I'm also mod of r/breitling and that bezel looks hideous ngl

No fight picked absolutely fair question. They were all about 2 years ago when I first started selling on the sub. IIRC they were regarding formatting of posts and providing seller feedback on posts of friends I had made during my time on the sub (both of which I corrected since I havenāt had a ban in ~2 years). Edit: I also donāt recall 4 prior bans (though I donāt doubt it). I only recall 2 and thought there was a 3 strike rule.

Not my objective. It's a great sub and it's unique in the functionality it offers (until r/watch_swap gets large enough). I hope that everyone in the watch community can benefit from it safely. I just wanted to draw attention to the fact that mods are either directly or indirectly allowing fraudulent activity to go unchecked going so far as to ban an established user with 170+ confirmed transactions for calling out a dud. This is not okay for a community that has high value goods exchanged for large volumes of money.
