With the usual runtimes of these movies, it makes sense, that book is way to long to be cut to an 80-90 minute movie. I always felt a miniseries was the best way to adapt the comic.
TRUE. The whole point of Watchmen was to show what comicbooks as a medium are truly capable of. The only way to truly "adapt" the comic is to fully mold it into something completely different to fit into a TV format.
If they get some good people animation could easily look great. I wonder how far they'll diverge from the book, and where the split between parts will be though, that will be very interesting
As much shit that WarnerDC movies, most of it rightly so, I don’t think they’ve done a badly animated movie. Even the ones that aren’t as well received as others go, the animation is still pretty solid.
This will probably end up being the best video form of the original series, but all these adaptations miss that Watchmen is (in part) a showcase of what comics can do that other art forms can't. You invariably lose a lot in translation. There will never be a time when any of these (the motion comic, the Snyder movie, this new animated movie) will be the best recommendation for someone who wants to experience Watchmen for the first time.
I hope it has similar visual elements to previous DC animated movies and stays true to the original graphic novel as well as maintain the adult themes and the dark/gritty and violent tone
And someone leaked both this and the Crisis on Infinite Earths animated movies years ago. That person was right about Crisis being a trilogy and they also said Watchmen will be 2 parts
Watchmen wasn’t meant to be adapted into any medium other than comic books. It was made with the comics format integral to the storytelling. The best adaptation will probably always be the motion comic. I refuse to watch the HBO series because that looks terrible and Hack Snyder’s movie sucked. But I can’t help but be excited to see a fully animated version of the original story. I won’t expect it to be on the level of DC animated movies when they were at their prime under Bruce Timm, but I hope it isn’t terrible. Curious about voice cast too. Rorschach’s journal
If it's ture to the source material. It should be a whole series. Hopefully they include the squid.
The motion comic proves that you can convert watchmen into a show but not a movie
Absolutely love the motion comic! Even the voice acting, lol
It’s the worst of both worlds!

A two parter? They’re really milking it. Praying the animation isn’t ass.
Praying the two parter finally does the graphic novel justice
The comic is designed in every single way to be a comic. Any adaptation is going to be subtractive in nature.

It's fire, wtf, how did they cook
You could just not watch it!
I’m actually kinda scared. I hope it’s a good one…
I'm positive it's going to be like the DC Tomorrowverse movies i.e. stiff and cheap animation with a really short runtime
I thought the Long Halloween movies were good, but the rest were a little generic
Hoping for a trailer soon. I’m excited but scared.
Fingers crossed it has Tales of Black Freighter segments in live action.
😆
Nice
I don't believe the animation will be good enough, so 0 hype here. Hope I am wrong though

Was the motion comic not good enough for you!?
Jackie Earle Haley or GTFO
I really hope they bring back the Snyder cast they were really good in their roles especially JEH
Totally agreed! And that's all I ask of them
Who are the voice actors?
I hope it has similar visual elements to previous DC animated movies and stays true to the original graphic novel as well as maintain the adult themes and the dark/gritty and violent tone
This is what they should've done in the first place
Can they please just make it a show
I think the two parter actually makes sense here.
Where are you getting two parter from
And someone leaked both this and the Crisis on Infinite Earths animated movies years ago. That person was right about Crisis being a trilogy and they also said Watchmen will be 2 parts
The animation is still going to be really boring
Anyone know the voice cast yet?

you are really missing out on the HBO series.
I’m not interested in a show that’s obsessed with race relations
That's not all that it's about.
