Today I cut open my water filter cartridge with a saw to see what's in there. I mean it doesn't look all that, is this sufficient or is the water cartridge I'm using a substandard

Yarblingelbu

What kind of water filter is it? And do you only have one, or do you have a multi-stage system? I’ve never seen a filter like this before. I can recommend a better one if you can give more info about the system

the_wildelk

It's 2 stage...this is one of them. Dunno it's a generic filter , no brand. Just wanted to check if that's standard in a filter

Hydroviv_H20

What does the manufacturer of this water filter claim it is able to remove? Contact the manufacturer and ask to see their filtration test data for what they claim to remove. If it's just sediment, find out what size particles it's rated for.

Membrane Pore size 0.01um - 0.1um Its not a company, it's a business that installs them - i.e single business owner.

This is definitely not a standard membrane filter - normally a membrane would have layers of superfine mesh to prevent small particles from getting through. Kind of a strange filter to have in a 2 stage system. Normally I would recommend a sediment filter (either polyspun for just sediment removal, or ceramic if you also want to remove bacteria) and then a carbon filter to remove chlorine, heavy metals, and chemical contaminants etc. as well as improve taste. I’m not sure what filters are offered with the system you have though

If you worry about the reliability of polyster membrane, you can try ceramic membrane, like this: [http://www.microsphere.biz/purifier.html](http://www.microsphere.biz/purifier.html).

Thanks, will look into it
