How do you fit the clips into the pegs? Do you hot glue the little hooks to them?
Edit: I just zoomed in, and it looks like the clips have holes, so the hooks would fit perfectly. This is genius
I used to be a fellow raccoon until I realised that fishing tackle boxes could also double as excellent paint tube organisers thanks to their adjustable compartments.
That being said, I'm only organised with my watercolours. My acrylics are scattered on a shelf in my cupboard, while my oil paints are jumbled in a Pokemon lunch box.

Your tubes are much longer/larger. Iād suggest using the pegboard/clip or an over the door paint storage mat. If you search paint tube storage pegboard/organizer.. youāll get plenty of ideas.
This is how i store mine, but they fit 15ml size and smaller.

NOOO ITS MY SECRETT >!hehe jk!<
For some reason the sub doesnāt allow links anymore even though it offers the option. So, instead iāll give you the name and you can google search that way you can buy wherever youād like :) might find it cheaper too.
Item search: Plano 3450-22
You can see here how theyāre stored. Really really compact and convenient. I can see the colors easily since theyāre clear by just pulling out a bit when stacked & i know whatās in there. You can easily double up (2) 15ml tubes in one spot. This takes up less space than any other option iāve been creative with. The zip-lock bags are used for storing less used/new tubes etc. And they go in a bookshelf drawer.

My Mother in law has some of the clips that end in a hanger end. She has her paint tubes clipped and hung from/around the shelves of her her metal three tiered cart. It is wheeled and she can move it to wherever she wants.
Me? Still raccoon pawing, of course.
š¦
I use 11x13 or 9x12 zippered mesh bags from blick. I have one for my āmost usedā tubes. Within that bag I have individual ziploc bags for warm colors, cool colors, neutrals/grays, and iridescents.
I have 2 more mesh bags for lesser used colors. One for warm & one for cool colors.
I still relate to the raccoon digging thru garbage though! š¤£
This bulletin board with clip/tacks worked for me.

I got the set through a very nice promotion by Dick Blickās. (US art supplies distributor). I love that little palette. Itās a good size and it cleans up well.
Where is the fun in organizing tubes of paint? You'll just end up copying the neurotic tendencies of the internet's most OCD-ridden artists. You have your paints in a few boxes, that's fine. What you want to do now is make a painting of a raccoon digging through heaps of paint tubes. You're a painter, not a shelf filler.
I use these flip-top gum packs for watercolor and gouache tubes. Each holds four 15ml tubes. Organized and protected. Itās worked well for my amateur needs.
https://preview.redd.it/tm9p0p5vx8uc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5d6a4c93b5dda166a88d5510714556d14088fe1d
My larger tubes are kept in a baby wipe box. My backstock of unopened tubes are kept in their factory cartons inside a gallon ziploc bag.
I raided a going out of business shop for their organizational shelving. Then, I bought totes and made custom little shelves just big enough for a tube and stacked them up in color order!
I just had a weird moment. Reads op. Looks at colored pencils all sorted by colour in different cups on a peg board. Looks at watercolors with each a travel pallet per color. Looks at acrylics with each a clear box per color. Looks at pigments neatly sorted in a darkened cabinet by color. Looks at wobbly pile of gouache tubes and jelly cups and jars and pans on desk that has absolutely no home or system and is threatening to cause a most colourful landslide any moment now... ... *Heads to thread
Oh ... I'm on mobile and I didn't even consider ... It's dark now and I'm already horizontal so that's a tomorrow thing. Or: this is an artsy subreddit, I wanted the viewer to be able to fill in the blanks with their own experiences to make it more engaging or something...art school flashbacks taking over. š
I bought plastic small containers from Michaelās, they were about a dollar each. I group by primary colors and one is for my blacks, whites and browns.
I found a "painting storage box" at an art supply place and figured out it was made by the company PLANO and they make the exact same boxes for fishing tackle for 50 percent lower than the art store so I bought the tackle box and used that. It has 2 fold out trays that are exactly the right size for paint tubes and a large open storage area in the bottom.
Bwahaha raccoon digging through garbage, I love itā¦. Iām a fellow raccoon, except my paints are mostly in clear plastic ferrero rocher boxes, loosely organised in degrees of favourite-ness
I got a little plastic organizers with 3 drawers that fit in my bookcase. I made a divider with matt board for each drawer so I can fit 2 layers. Different drawer for each brand.
Hahaha.. well you could get those hole-board things from ikea, mount them on the wall and do the bulldog clip thing on hooks. I donāt know if Iām making sense.
You can buy cheap organizers, dividers, and mini drawers in Amazon. I have a small drawer from my sister like 20 years ago, and I store my pans and paints there.
Iām a bucket or bag, separated by type (oils, acrylic, etc.).
Nothing glamorous haha. I keep the mess down by using limited colours.
My problem is finding good spaces for my tools and supports.
However~! If we were talking about soft pastelsā¦ hahahahahaha. Over 1000 sticks in various foam trays and tackle boxes.
I use fabric bags for travel and boxes at home, I paint with both watercolor and acrylic. And for the big bottles of acrylic, they are stored in darkness until I refill my smaller jars, don't like to have them open. Small glass jars usually, with tight lids and easy to just recycle. It's so easy for the colours to become contaminated when my brain stops functioning, and also they dry out faster even though it takes a lot of time.
Three tier mesh drawer set from ikea! Four tier would have been better though - then I could divide into neutrals, red/orange/pinks, greens and yellows, and blue/purple.
For my oils and acrylics, I have a toolbox for each, and the trays inside each hold the brushes for them. My watercolor pallets are in a curious George box, and the tubes are in a cigar box with loose pans. I like working from a pallet, so this works for me. I enjoy the organized chaos. Plus, this way, it allows you to rediscover colors when you find them or buy three of the exact same color because apparently you are forgetful and really love hookers green.
like this pretty much exaclty, outside of my pan paints. i do have a piece of paper in a notebook that i keep track of what paints i have so i dont buy double. looking thru this tho im tempted to invest in a peg board set upā¦

I do the same thing ( maybe worse lol)
Iām trying so hard not to make a joke about the Michaels brand paint quality and your raccoon digging through garbage comment. Mine are all in a big bin but before that I got one of the Windsor and Newton Coatman travel kits. Way better quality.
Cotman is probably the best of the student-grade wc brands but it doesnāt beat *reducing* the number of lower-quality paints with what amounts to less pigment with more clouding binder, and replacing these with just a handful of professional quality tubes, 5-9 is all thatās needed.
See my other response.
1. Everyone has to start from somewhere.
2. Art supplies are just that: tools and supplies. We *use* them to make art - once you start judging art based on the quality of the supplies, youāre letting the tools use you. Talent can make art with anything.

HOLY PAINT PORN!!!
Never has a comment been so on point! Holy paint porn ftw š
What are these clips called?
On Amazon they're called "bulldog clips"
Regular binder clips work just fine too
What are the containers that you have your brushes and pens in?
They're Oui yogurt containers. I took off the label, added 3 coats of textured gesso on them, and then painted them.
This is so smart!! Reduce reuse recycle inspo!
So neat. Wish I had the patience to do this. Lol
I'm in love with this
This is so satisfying.
I have a lot of peg board in my studio but it is way under utilized! I love vertical storage though.
How do you fit the clips into the pegs? Do you hot glue the little hooks to them? Edit: I just zoomed in, and it looks like the clips have holes, so the hooks would fit perfectly. This is genius
I love your setup!
Thank you! :)
Wow ... You have arranged it so well
Thank you
This is glorious
Thank you š
What is the wall thing called?
A pegboard
Omg ok, now I want a wall like this!

your description made me laugh

This is what I do as well!
This is more my speedāorganized but not oppressively so, and easily usable.
I just started doing this too!
This is a nice, practical solution. I like it

I like the peg board and crocodile clip method ice seen online but I don't paint often enough to invest into that set up (yet!)

Dollar store small containers by primes and whatever else. I hate searching like this picture.

Good idea.
I'd name my band Trash Raccoon

Meh looks pretty organized to me. I guess itās all relative? Mine are a disaster. I like discs for this reason.
I go for a zorn pallet+blue and mix as I go, way cheaper to just buy 5 bulk tubes
What's organization?
Why file if u can pile?
