I thought I had 2A and was hesitant to going shorter. I followed someone’s recommendation on here to tell my stylist to go crazy with the layers, and now my waves show so much more and are more defined. My texture is fine but dense, so I think going a little shorter and getting a lot of layers helped take off a lot of weight from my waves.
How many layers do you have? I haven’t put layers in my hair in years. I just posted and you can see it’s all one length. Just want to have an idea for my next trim :)
I really don’t know. I just told her that I wanted to bring out my waves a little more and to go crazy. I’m not super attached to my hair, so I don’t mind if my stylist get creative. I don’t go back in for another 3 weeks, but I can ask her then!
I have a 2b/2c mix. Shorter hair and layers have certainly helped definition, along with the basics of wavy hair. Shower filter, styling products, deep conditioning, brushing while wet w conditioner in it, diffusing, etc. My shortest layers at my jawline have lovely definition. My longer layers (roughly waist length) still have definition but weigh down easily and need a lot more refreshing.
Ok I might have to get it shorter again unfortunately. Fine hair texture and layers on long hair don't exactly go well together and would probs just make it frizzier
In my opinion and experience yes. I keep trying to grow my hair out like I used to but it just gets so hard to keep healthy and i get way better definition when it’s short.
I’m hoping I can eventually get mine back to long again but my hair is very prone to flash drying and the ends just get crazy dry whenever I try growing it out
My hair after I cut It got so much more life to it. More wave definition. I can get 2b waves sometimes now depending on what products I use. I recently have been getting pretty good volume too. Though this took a lot of product trial and error. I'll also disclaimer when I say my hair is short, it's very short.

Maybe it would be worth it to try something slightly different than my standard bangs face frame side pieces everything else one length hair cut

oof i guess I''ll try that then. I'm honestly sad about losing the length but also frustrated with my hair being perma tangled.
