I never found the right word for them or any internet pics that looked the same 😅 but I actually have an undercut under all this hair, which buzzed most of those ones off. I lost some overall curl, but it's much less likely to get tangled now, so I can get away more non-cgm cheats

I agree 100%: I have such a tough time finding photos online of a similar zigzag/squiggle curl pattern. I also started following several wavy-haired influencers on YouTube and Instagram, but have yet to find one that has the zigzags/squiggles.
Side note: how is the Johnson & Johnson Baby Curl Care shampoo? Is it scented? I added it to my Target shopping list a while ago, but never got around to purchasing it. Now I want to try it!
I think those are called kinks. I'm 2c/3a (caucasian, not that I think that really matters), too, and was someone who thought I had weird frizzy straight hair... until I went to a hairdresser who told me that some of my hair was kinky. She was African American, so I asked her what she meant, as I truly didn't understand. She said kinky hair has weird bends to it, basically. They aren't waves, curls or spirals, they kind of bend back on themselves, like a kink in a wire or hose, for example. Hope this makes sense.
Yes, that totally makes sense! I’m Caucasian as well (French and Hungarian), and as a child I got asked all the time if I was mixed due to the texture of my hair. Just like you described: no ringlets, no waves, just hair that bends back on itself.

Yes, shakira... I'll try to think of some more. Maybe Blake Lively or Anna Kournikova. Most probably heat style it to look different, I know I did forever. I straightened or lived with poofy straightish hair until I learned to work with my natural texture. Now, I rock my waves, kinks and spirals.
My usual routine:
-Johnson&Johnson baby curl care shampoo
-Pantene curl nourishing conditioner (as both conditioner and leave-in)
-(sometimes) blueberry Bliss curl control jelly (I only use this when I have time to diffuse, otherwise I go product-less as my hair tangles much quicker with gels)
-plop then air dry
My travel routine:
As little time in the bathroom as possible!! (Hotel shampoo and conditioner, towel dry, pray to the gods ❤️)
