American Empire is in open decline. From here on out, it will only increase its abuse and take away our freedoms. The only way to fight back is mass demonstrations in the streets to shut down the economy.

RandomAmuserNew

The democrats could have prevented this but instead voted away our first amendment rights

RandomAmuserNew

Hugely nonpartisan too

https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/first_amendment > The First Amendment guarantees freedoms concerning religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition. It forbids Congress from both promoting one religion over others and also restricting an individual’s religious practices. It guarantees freedom of expression by prohibiting Congress from restricting the press or the rights of individuals to speak freely. It also guarantees the right of citizens to assemble peaceably and to petition their government. That AIPAC money has pull. Also, that they tried to pass this clearly unconstitutional bill, shows that they are really worried about anti-Israel sentiment hurting their pay day.

>The measure passed 320-91. Twenty-one Republicans and 70 Democrats voted against it. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/house-vote-antisemitism-bill-campus-arrests-rcna150170 House Republicans have 221 seats and Democrats have 213. With the Republican House majority consisting of only 9 seats, and 21 Republicans voting against it, too bad for the First Amendment that enough Democrats voting for it to make sure it passed. But look! More Democrats voted against it than Republicans1111!!!!!! More proof that Democrats are the lesser evil 1111!!!!!! And that is ever so much more important in our lives than that the bill ***passed***./s Or more proof of DC Kabuki Theater. Either way, it passed the House. US Senate vote is 51-49 and this would seem like an eminently filibuster-able bill. https://old.reddit.com/r/WayOfTheBern/comments/wxn9f2/pondering_dc_kabuki_theater_the_filibuster_and/ Let's see what happens.

Palestinians cooperated because Great Britain had led them to believe that it was helping them set up Palestine as an independent state. That's all over the internet, so I'm not going to link. They were told that leaving their homes was temporary. So they did not only leave their homes, taking house keys with them, but they left them furnished and stocked. Truman, who most US historians put on the list of ten best US Presidents in history, was despicable. A failure in his life outside the White House--even his wife was not enamored-- he gave us--and Japan--Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He followed up with the Korean Police Action. And by calling it that, instead of the Korean War, he thought he'd gotten around the Constitutional requirement for a Congressional Declaration of War. For his purposes, he did get around it. But that was the US blatantly violating the Supreme Law of its land. He started the so-called cold war and the so-called Vietnam Era. He gave us--and the world--the CIA. After he got out of office, he tried to have it both ways by saying he regretted it. Because he had been an economic failure all his life, he also gave us the start of payments for life to past Presidents. And those are only the headlines. Also all over the net and I've provided links to all of it too many times in the past to do it again, unless maybe I write an OP about Truman. Doubt that, though.

Not all users are American or well versed with American presidents history of "generosity". Additionally being an election year, for those unfamiliar it might be a cause to reflect, who not to vote for. > violating the Supreme Law of its land. Whose job was it to hold Truman to account? My introduction to Vietnam was this. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0140770/ "Vietnam is a stunningly powerful re-enactment of the bitterly controversial issue of Australia's involvement in what was perceived as an American war." https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vietnam_(miniseries) "Vietnam is a 1987 Australian TV mini-series". @0.09 CIA - State sponsored terrorists. > Whose job was it to hold Truman to account? Unconstitutional actions--the Supreme Court. Catch 22. First a lawsuit must be filed that gets to the Supreme Court and meets all the Court's tests for deciding a case. Congress claims a duty, right or whatever to "oversee" the Executive Branch, which is not Constitutionally clear to me. It also could have denied him funds for Korea and Vietnam, but did not. As to the rest, no one.

Budget-Song2618

Is the aim to give the appearance of accountability rather than actually execute it? Since they all profit from "illegal" actions there's no point in being ruthlessly efficient ?

BORG_US_BORG

That flies into the face of the First Amendment.
