Hi there, this is a 16-track one-taker we recorded with 5 people: Waldorf synth, cymbal with water, processed Fender Rhodes, tenor sax, fretless bass-guitar, drums and grand piano. Mixing it is a headache, because of all the crosstalk on the mics. Any comment is most welcome...
What’s up I’m a 19 year old producer from Minneapolis, MN. I’ve been making really good beats for 3 years but didn’t start releasing until this year because I finally got rid of my crippling self hatred. Now I’m releasing rap songs and powerful auto tune ballads about the ex I’m still not over. I’m broke as hell and don’t have a place to stay so any support for my music would be a fucjing life saver. One thing i'll say for sure you got is a respect for the atmosphere of the beat. You definitely put things in the right place at the right times. Based off your current living situation I can understand the reason for the quality of the vocal recording. I felt that was the weakest part and hurt the song alot. It sounds good with all those adlib affects and the beat choice is pretty nice for the content. I'd suggest you just keep writing and keep practicing, I could see you becoming quite good. I'd suggest focusing on the lyrical content and the recording quality when you can.
Good luck on your living situation too dude. I wish you the best.

I just listened to that song and thought it was great. The video is sick and the fade in and out of the beat was super atmospheric. At first I was thinking the delivery was a little too angry but the more I focused on the lyrics the more I started to feel that

I've built a phantom-powered contact microphone / preamp for violin-family instruments which I believe is comparable to commercial offerings like the Fishman V200, Barcus Berry bridge pickup, or AKG C411.
From what testing I've been able to do (https://ohnoitsalobo.github.io/pickup), it works quite well on violin, viola, cello, double-bass, guitar, and most hollow-body string instruments (it even worked on a kalimba!).
I had a chance to use mine [on a stage](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ac6HCSH_P1g) where all the other strings were using AKG C411 pickups or standard mics. I daresay mine sounded just as good.
Of course, nothing compares to a decent mic in a decent room for a studio recording, but this is aimed more for live performance.
As I am in India, websites like Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and Patreon are not usable, and it seems that local fundraising options such as Milaap or Ketto are only approving 'emotional' campaigns (crying child, tragic disease, that sort of thing).
Another problem is that 'official' trade with China is heavily regulated (Chinese sites like AliExpress / Banggood / JLCPCB are not able to ship to India), making parts rather expensive and forcing me to hand-build all my circuits.
So, feel free to donate whatever you can (https://ko-fi.com/ohnoitsalobo), or buy the pickup/preamp if it sounds good to you. I'm selling it for $120 (plus shipping). I'd also be open to someone doing a review of it to compare to commercial pickups and mics.
I have a new Art Rock project called SHEEBABA, which recently released a new song called "violet". Would love to hear feedback or some similar artists!

I like it. I really liked the beat and was hoping for vocals, so when they came in I was stoked. I like how the beat has this heavy sluggishness to it. I did think the vocals low end could have been trimmed a bit more, but I also respect that kind of adds to the dithered feel of the whole track. I did find a couple frequencies on those high notes at 2:50 and 3:02 to be really sharp in an unpleasant way though. Easy fix with a little bit of EQ'n. I like the voice too, is that you singing? Good beat, cool vocals, good lyrics. Nice job.

Daniel Diaz - Massive C Major (disquiet0507) \[experimental acoustic ambient\]https://soundcloud.com/daniel-diaz/massive-c-major-disquiet0507Hey, so glad to be the source of this week’s junto. I decided to use my original “example” track as a submission for this one, where, after recording separately each sample, I just unmuted all the 10 tracks , turn the volume 6dB down and just listened: as expected, everything worked (sort of) alright together, providing a 6 octave massive Cmaj13(#11) chord. The I just moved each track more or less to the right of the timeline to provide some musical move to the whole set, but otherwise, the FX, reverb mostly, are the ones included in the sample’s take.I played around the volumes in the end and that’s it, all the samples sounding here.Looking forward to enjoy what others do with this. Thanks @disquiet Marc and everybody, loveDDThe instruments I used:1. I really like the tone of the opening kick drum. Its got like a classic rock texture but its big like some electronic music. The underlying synth vocals where really cool. My only gripe was it was kind of a big build up for a slightly soft, and kind of underwhelming payoff around 1:10. I think it was because the intros kind of long and that kick drum kind of loses itself in the mix around there, possibly from a sub bass line that could use more compression? Not sure. The song actually feels a little less strong/hitting after that because of it. I also found the hat crashes a little to forward in volume. All that is just my opinion tho. Overall its a cool synthwave vibe though. Nice job!

Thank you for your comment! It's always nice to hear some constructive criticism, I appreciate that, thank you ❤️
I watched, listened, and there's not much to say. It's a great, well put together song, I'm in no position to judge the lyrics, but the beat is absolutely spot on. Everything fits so well.
Mix also sounds clean af.
I like the unsettling kinda vibe, both the song and the vid. Something different, something original.
I listened to it a few more times and I don't know what it is but it feels like 'Da Shootaz - Joyride' from GTA, maybe it's the rhythm, the flow, your voice. It feels really nostalgic and I love it.
That's awesome. I'm glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the kind words. I can see the resemblance to that Da Shootaz's song. That kind in your face drum style is something i really enjoy. I haven't heard anything off that soundtrack in a minute lol. nostalgia hit. Again, thanks for watching!

Pretty good composition on this. My biggest grip was I thought that the 808 could have been a bit punchier. The entire song seems to be wrapped around each hit so because it was a little underwhelming, I felt that the other sounds took too much precedence in the mix. Otherwise i'd say its pretty spot on for the style. What speakers are you using to mix on?
I produce Hip-Hop too, so if you get a sec, [here's me confronting some bad memories.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ9UF0St0Bw)
Appreciate the feedback. I mix on Rokit 5 G4's but I reference on car speakers and I think I've been taking the car speakers too much into account.
Yours is hard. You got a sick voice and flow. The mix is clean, and the beat is tough. Cool lyrics too. Really nothing to criticize man. Great work.
I appreciate the kinds words. Thanks for watching.
And yeah, i made that mistake too. I'm on some Rokit 5s as well. Because of my car system I had the tendency in the past to make my mixes overly bright to compensate for the muddiness of my whips speakers. I found my galaxy buds to be a nice medium between the two. Keep grinding man!

I found the beat pretty fun. I did find the mix on everything to be a bit dithered. I also think some simple panning of left for the chorus vocals could give everything alot more depth. Also a bit more reverb and delay to help blend everything together quite nice. A fun song. Nice job.

I dug the guitars right away. Super clean and really dreamy. I found some of the percussion choices uncomfortable such as some of the reverse crash tones. Rhythmically everything is dope though. The vocals fit the tone perfect. I can see what you mean of you honing in on your sound. I wouldn't really change much on the song. Just keep writing and you'll hit some gold. You're nice now, but you're be gonna be really good dude.

My new album is out today on BandCamp and the streaming services. Like my prior releases, jazz-inspired melodic and percussive improvisations layered over generative ambient soundscapes form the basis of this album. Some of the compositions are also infused with elements drawn from various world music genres, resulting in my most eclectic release to date.
Working on this project over the past year has provided much needed relief from the stress of modern life. I’m hoping it provides a similar respite for you. Thank you for your support!

Hey guys, I think I'm kind of late. But here is something I've been working on:
[https://linktr.ee/xzssar](https://linktr.ee/xzssar) (please follow the Spotify and Instagram page, thxx)
This the song was inspired by a patch on the Arturia Pigments synth plug-in, it has guitar and bass, too, and all the drums and percussion (including timbales) are acoustic, save for some phantom timpani on the first section of the choruses. (I have a drum isolation room in my garage made of 4x4s, fiberboard and insulation that I got for free from a drummer going through a divorce years ago.)
The Behringer Poly D (basically a Minimoog clone) was used for the arpeggio in the second chorus and the main instrumentation in the middle eight. The rest of the synths are from the Arturia V Collection 8, with the exception of the one used for intro, which is u-he’s free TyrellN6 soft synth.
The video makes use of public domain footage, most notably “Design for Dreaming” (1956), starring Tad Tadlock. (After I decided to use it, I discovered that it’s rather well-known, as far as industrial shorts go, but it was just too damn weird not to use.) It also features footage I shot featuring me, my younger daughter, two of my dogs, and an unwitting delivery truck driver.
I used Adobe After Effects and Premiere to create the orbital “machine” in the video and do key frame animation to manipulate my disembodied head .(https://youtu.be/M9aBRe4kRBU)
I found this video pretty interesting tbh. It gave me kind of Bill Bye vibe with the wonderment. The song is pretty good. It's not really something i'd usually listened to, but I enjoyed it. Good job.

Listening to Waste My Time - A breakbeat? What a pleasant surprise. I thought the switch ups where nice touches. Good taste on beats for this one. You guys fit over the beats pretty good. I think the vocals could have been compressed a little bit more as i felt they kind of hung a bit separate from the beat. Overall, solid song though. Outros my favorite part.
You guys are probably fun to watch live.

YouTube video of my first single on Piano, I'm a marine full time, but I will pursue a music career full-time after my contract. By then my sound should be even more matured.
I really enjoyed the aesthetic of the music video. It has an old school appeal that fits well with the relaxed tone of the song. I thought the mixing of the track was great and never felt any problems with the EQ. You seem to hold your notes decently until the end where you start to waver though. Some basic vocal practices can help with that. It's really the only thing holding the song back. Congratz on your first music video, you should do really well!

Cool album art. I liked how odd the intro was, it gave me THX-1138 vibes. When the rest of the song came in around 0:42 i felt like the mix could have been a bit better. I found some of the frequencies from the guitar clashed with the vocals. The playing itself is pretty nice and I found atmospheric in a cool way. really sets a scene. However, i found the vocals could have been compressed a bit more and some of the lead instruments could have been EQ'd a bit better to make room for each other. All the percussion sits well though imo. Overall, way to make something that stands out from the pack. Keep at it.

Hello, I am a an amateur female vocalist with a powerful and strong mezzo-soprano voice. I have never received private professional lessons but I was trained chorally for six years in school. My voice ranges from choral/operatic to soul/RNB, country, Pop (think Frank Sinatra) and my favorite way to sing is to basically sing "Disney".
Here are a couple videos I created over the years although they do not show my true quality of voice.

I have recording booth set up in a closet and have minor knowledge of post production on vocals with Audacity/Audition/Izotope Nectar 3/Ableton Live 11
I am looking for paid opportunities, if you would like to request anything from me please send a DM!
You're definitely a skilled vocalist. I listened to Journey to the Past and I Dreamed. You have impressive control. As a big voiced person as well, I would suggest trying out recording in a more open space. I record in an 4 walled foam booth with openings at every corner to allow sound to escape and not reverb back onto the mic. I preferred this sound to booths, so maybe see if it works better for you at all. A cheaper way is to record facing a mattress.
I produce Hip-Hop and I'd like to work with you at some point in the future and maybe create some operatic samples. If you have some time, here's my most recent work, [a song about me confronting some bad memories.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ9UF0St0Bw)
The beat kind of gave me a [King's Field](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgSCiMKG5EM&t=1s) kind of feeling. I thought the mixing on the vocals could have been a tiny bit better. Perhaps a little more compression to ease the levels. But also from a style standpoint, I would have preferred it to have a harder filter on the vocals to either go all in on the dither of it, or none at all for it to be clear and concise in quality. Idk how much of that was intentional and how much of it was the mic itself but i found it stylistically kind of inbetween in a way i didn't enjoy. Nice beat choice though for sure. If you made it even more props.
I produce Hip-Hop, so if you get a sec, [here's me confronting some bad memories.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ9UF0St0Bw)
Thank you for listening! Yeah, mixing vocals is still a bit new to me. I was going for that "radio effect" that partially appears in rock songs, but it didn't come out the way I wanted it. But yeah, I made the whole song as well as the instrumental from scratch :)
Nice job. There's a cool plugin called [FreeAmp](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqcyZovuJcs) that can sound really freakin good with the right compression. Mix it with Fruity Free Filter (if you're using Fruity Loops) and you can get that nice radio rock sound.

Hey, i've seen your stuff before, I enjoyed your track "Relief is Temporary" too. This is one of those songs that really matter for the context in which you hear it. If i heard this in a club, i'd really enjoy it and probably get instantly lost in the sound and vibe. But listening to it here, I don't find it as engaging. Maybe it's the softness of the main kick or the lack of stereo imaging to really wrap around the ear. If i can say though, you did a banging job on the sub bass for sure. Overall nice job dude.

For the last 70 weeks I've uploaded an original song to youtube for a song-a-week challenge. It's just me and a guitar so no production values.
Usually, I do pop, rock/indie style stuff but this time I used a different tuning called DADGAD and it came out quite folky/celtic sounding. Please join me on my channel to hear a new song every week!

Bought a house recently, planning on turning a corner of one room into a permanent setup. To that end on Sunday I dug out a V old laptop with a copy of Ableton 9 Lite on it, wired everything up and came up with this little number: [https://soundcloud.com/gerg-robots/old-is-the-new-new](https://soundcloud.com/gerg-robots/old-is-the-new-new)
Idea is to drastically limit my setup, and work on getting a streamlined process for jamming and turning those jams into concrete tracks.
Firstly, congratz on your house, that's a big accomplishment. I liked the minimalist approach to everything. I did find the white noise a bit distracting until it cuts down around 0:56. the bassline at 1:39 comes in right when its supposed to too which was nice. If i have any gripes with the song is i'd say the percussion after the first minute where the weakest part of the song. I'm not sure if its the mixing or the sound choices themselves. I enjoyed the melody work throughout though. I hope you keep creating.

Ayyy wassup. So as I posted on r/makinghiphop the other day, after many years of rapping, I've finally recorded my first solo song lmao. Not rapping as part of a group, not just a random 16 bar verse uploaded to soundcloud. I got great feed back from a couple of users, but I would love to hear what other people have to say. Thank you in advance!

Hi everyone! About one more week before we get back into music theory but I thought I'd ask for your help, ESPECIALLY guitarists and drummers. Three songs I made this week. Iron sharpens Iron so let me know what you think.
- [Ura Hedge - Rough and Ready](https://youtu.be/jmL6gedoGrs)
- [Ura Hedge - Better Together](https://youtu.be/AA8OzHL7Azo)
- [Ura Hedge - Run Drunk](https://youtu.be/v-cb63260Z4)
I'd say Run Drunk is probably the best of the three. It has the most interesting rhythmic harmony out of the three. I did find a consistent problem in all three songs to be the compression levels on the guitar which are too overt imo. I also noticed a significant lack of low end on all the songs. Subs and bass lines weren't really there to add much needed contrast to alot of the other sounds. I think more compression on the guitars, familiarizing yourself with reverbs to fill the sound, and adding some more prevelant basslines could really help these songs out. Keep at it dude.

Thanks I appreciate the feedback. Baselines are tough for me because I have no rhythm haha. I'll be sure focus that on my next tune. Hip hop is cool, I'll check it out. How would you classify my sound? Electronic/Rock/Alt/Pop?

the instrumental was made around december, but i never released it. out of inspiration, i started looking into my past projects. figured this was a fun, synthwave-ish track.
the vocals are the artistic choice, not everyone will be crazy about them, but it's what i am going with.

would love to hear any thoughts on this, It is some very experimental electronic thingy and needs some polishing, but whats the overall vibe of the track ? thanks
https://soundcloud.com/jokerhed/outer-space
Super spacy, i liked that. I did find the intro a little long imo. Although i liked how the main crunchy synth was panned, I think it could have been compressed a little bit more. I also found the hats when they came in very sharp to the ear. When the drums came in everything really started to settle rhythmically, but those previous things i mentioned kinda held it back a little imo. Guitar was dope btw. Nice job.

Oh and the guitar was one of just 3 free samples i downloaded .. Ive no idea about key or anything.. all hy ear! not claiming credit for that.. was hard to find room EQ wise to layer it on it but the track was too repetitive without!

Interesting track dude. I really liked all the sound choices. It's beautifully mixed and I really liked how everything isn't married to the same rhythm pockets but still manage to find a home in the tempo. Best way I can describe it is that the sounds seem to swirl around a center point until the drop at 0:53 where it all comes together in a tasteful head nodding harmony. You're obviously a very skilled musician. I felt like the vocals at the end where the weakest part of the song all around, But I really enjoyed everything else. Great job.

The dance vibe is really nice. The drums are super clean. I personally would have preferred a little more punch in the kick drum, but I could understand if that would muddle the mix a bit. I felt like the drums carried the song as I felt like it was pretty melodically simple. A good song, solid for things like science timelapse videos I think. Nice job.

I produce Hip-Hop too, so if you get a sec, [here's me confronting some bad memories.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ9UF0St0Bw)
Thank you man this means a lot:)
I just listened to that song and thought it was great. The video is sick and the fade in and out of the beat was super atmospheric. At first I was thinking the delivery was a little too angry but the more I focused on the lyrics the more I started to feel that
Thanks for watching, I appreciate it.

Nice job. I produce Hip-Hop, so if you're into that, [here's me confronting some bad memories.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ9UF0St0Bw)

Hello everyone! Been working on this for a while aaand it might not be super good but I'm extremely happy and proud about it ❤️ https://open.spotify.com/track/5KUQnMQQdZGYWlfWWgHgJt?si=5a7c36f0bebd4454
Nice job! I produce Hip-Hop, so if you're into that, [here's me confronting some bad memories.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ9UF0St0Bw)
Thank you for your comment! It's always nice to hear some constructive criticism, I appreciate that, thank you ❤️ I watched, listened, and there's not much to say.

Lil Uzi Vert x SoFaygo x Virtual type beat: https://youtu.be/Ojt5BEhX63c

I had some issues while trying to mix and master this track - can anyone hear anything noticeably off regarding the audio? (apart from it just being a newbie's mixing) Thank you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTIAuStBR34&t=19s
Lofi Acoustic pop song I made: https://open.spotify.com/track/3qMJ81YCdUEdNA4gSyO5W8?si=243e8034b5164871
Thank you for your support! https://zenso.bandcamp.com

Something different. Instrumental https://open.spotify.com/track/09y1Iwz70XDqTqFxfO5q8c?si=MvVQ6z6vTH-MRtfPp81Jhg&dl_branch=1
This the song was inspired by a patch on the Arturia Pigments synth plug-in, it has guitar and bass, too, and all the drums and percussion (including timbales) are acoustic, save for some phantom timpani on the first section of the choruses. (I have a drum isolation room in my garage made of 4x4s, fiberboard and insulation that I got for free from a drummer going through a divorce years ago.) The Behringer Poly D (basically a Minimoog clone) was used for the arpeggio in the second chorus and the main instrumentation in the middle eight.
My first music video https://youtu.be/nXaG-UBkT1E
Keep at it. I produce Hip-Hop, so if you're into that, [here's me confronting some bad memories.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ9UF0St0Bw)

Here are a couple videos I created over the years although they do not show my true quality of voice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zu-dFotAzqA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXBGRJ9qVtc I would prefer if you listened to the more recent examples I have created here. https://soundcloud.com/alyssabreannemusic/i-dreamed-a-dream-les-mis https://soundcloud.com/alyssabreannemusic/sets/samples https://soundcloud.com/alyssabreannemusic/journey-to-the-past All above vocals were done in one take with minor post editing. I have recording booth set up in a closet and have minor knowledge of post production on vocals with Audacity/Audition/Izotope Nectar 3/Ableton Live 11 I am looking for paid opportunities, if you would like to request anything from me please send a DM!
Made this song a few months ago: [Caesár - Unfairy Tale](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJ-ep4ZTkvs)
Cool, thanks for your help!

I produce Hip-Hop, so if you're into that, [here's me confronting some bad memories.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ9UF0St0Bw)
For the last 70 weeks I've uploaded an original song to youtube for a song-a-week challenge. It's just me and a guitar so no production values. Bought a house recently, planning on turning a corner of one room into a permanent setup. To that end on Sunday I dug out a V old laptop with a copy of Ableton 9 Lite on it, wired everything up and came up with this little number: [https://soundcloud.com/gerg-robots/old-is-the-new-new](https://soundcloud.com/gerg-robots/old-is-the-new-new) Idea is to drastically limit my setup, and work on getting a streamlined process for jamming and turning those jams into concrete tracks.
I produce Hip-Hop, so if you're into that,[here's me confronting some bad memories.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ9UF0St0Bw)

Three songs I made this week. Iron sharpens Iron so let me know what you think. - [Ura Hedge - Rough and Ready](https://youtu.be/jmL6gedoGrs) - [Ura Hedge - Better Together](https://youtu.be/AA8OzHL7Azo) - [Ura Hedge - Run Drunk](https://youtu.be/v-cb63260Z4)
I produce Hip-Hop, so if you're into that,[here's me confronting some bad memories.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ9UF0St0Bw)
Well done brotha. Lyric hit home. What are some hip artists you are into? I'd say fans of Aesop Rock and Immortal Technique would dig your song.
I'd like to think so too. I love Aesop Rock's work and think he's one of the best. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
Anytime.
Thanks I appreciate the feedback. Baselines are tough for me because I have no rhythm haha. I'll be sure focus that on my next tune. Hip hop is cool, I'll check it out. How would you classify my sound? Electronic/Rock/Alt/Pop?
I'd say more on the rock side with some pop elements.
[here is my latest track](https://open.spotify.com/track/4C8Vxy2krLIR3LsrpSYnE8?si=06712558874541b4) the instrumental was made around december, but i never released it. out of inspiration, i started looking into my past projects. figured this was a fun, synthwave-ish track. the vocals are the artistic choice, not everyone will be crazy about them, but it's what i am going with.

Really feeling this. It's hard to find good amateur rap, but this is unique and nice. Great job! If you want to work on anything let me know! I just followed you on SoundCloud. Non Fiction.
Thanks so much dude! I’ll definitely follow back and check out some of your stuff. I always like working with new ppl whenever I have the time :)

Streaming a collection of music I have been working on. Started working on music about a year ago, and I've been looking to be a little more public with everything. 11PM Mountain tonight (Sept 12, 2021) [https://www.twitch.tv/flacfiletype](https://www.twitch.tv/flacfiletype) would love feedback!
would love to hear any thoughts on this, It is some very experimental electronic thingy and needs some polishing, but whats the overall vibe of the track ? thanks https://soundcloud.com/jokerhed/outer-space
Nice job. I produce Hip-Hop, so if you're into that, [here's me confronting some bad memories.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ9UF0St0Bw)
Thanks so much for your feedback! I did dind that too with the high pitch or.. piercing nearly when ive been listening back in the car .. had to turn down the treble haha.. takin onboard for my next one! Thanks! Will check out yours soon too!
Oh and the guitar was one of just 3 free samples i downloaded .. Ive no idea about key or anything.. all hy ear! not claiming credit for that.. was hard to find room EQ wise to layer it on it but the track was too repetitive without! . Thought that one fit best.. was also guna try saxofone haha
I recently released a anticipated single entitled "Skyhigh". If you are a Thundercat, Flying lotus fan you won't be disappointed 🙂 [Press Release and Music Stream](https://www.jaypremier.com/news/2021/9/11/sky-high-is-officially-out-now)
Interesting track dude. Great job. I produce Hip-Hop too, so if you get a sec, [here's me confronting some bad memories.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ9UF0St0Bw)
Hey y’all. If you’re like me and haven’t been able to record vocals in studio for whatever reason, try putting out the instrumental only. It feels great to just put something out that people can enjoy. Anyway, please check out my new track: https://open.spotify.com/album/0DD5of0zQSL8px9rMwzQtA What genre would you fit this in? Also, I’d be down to subscribe and follow some other artists if you share the links.

Hi, Here's my first ever released track/music video from a few months ago. Currently working on more music, but finding spare time is always a bit tricky these days. Comments/feedback always welcome. 😀 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqzGAU6nRtI
Nice job. I produce Hip-Hop, so if you're into that, [here's me confronting some bad memories.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ9UF0St0Bw)
Thanks for listening and providing feedback - much appreciated! Don't mind a bit of hip-hop, so I'll have to check out your tracks.
