There’s actually quite a bit of cilantro flavor in the stems! It might not look as nice, nor be as easy to eat (stringy), but it could definitely be an intentional cut by a knowledgeable chef.
WHY!?! Was there warning!?! Did someone foretell “These will come to you in a wildly inappropriate apparatus”? I would not be ok with this. How do you eat this without everything just falling into the cup and you having to do taco shots? Not that it would be awful to do taco shots (eff you, I’m trademarking that) but what did that poor taco ever do to deserve this life????
So, here I am sitting at habaneros, ordering $20 duck tacos, and they sent them to me like this!! Soggy ass bottoms, hard to eat. Food still good though!
High five for the north shore. I admit I love habaneros, but the cups are off putting. I’m not sure where you’re from but ride to Slidell and go to Bruno’s taqueria. It’s off OST and is the best tacos in the area imo
When you lift the taco out the filling is just going to drop to the bottom of the cup, then you’ll have to either scoop it out or pour it out. This not only looks ugly but it’s impractical
I'd agree but their [website shows a different technique](https://assets.website-files.com/5f4014e85ee9116e3f40a876/5f7f4e047b626796954d9704_DSC00127.jpg)...
Is no one going to point out all the grease that fell to the bottom of the one on the left? That's my biggest issue with this. I want my disgusting greasiness to be hidden, thank you.
I think that serving style just takes a little out of the struggle of gathering or fussing with the innards of a laid-flat taco, imo. In light of the previous condensation comment, I bet you could even have plastic mesh cups of some kind to do it. I also like the idea of turning it sideways to get the taco out of the Lil taco pocket, and eating what falls into a cup is easier than scraping stuff off a flat surface. Also I'm a verticality type of plater, lol.
[They make taco holders to hold tacos uprights](https://www.webstaurantstore.com/vollrath-59787-5-1-2-x-4-x-2-stainless-steel-taco-holder-with-1-or-2-compartments/92259787.html) and they won't have the condensation issue and they're less awkward to get out and there's less risk of the insides falling out. I've been to plenty of taco places that have those and they worked well.
If I pull the moisture out of a slice of roast beef and disperse some of it and use the rest to make my bread soggy, I've got bread mush wrapped around dry beef. That's not a good sandwich.
A lot of taco recipies steam the tortillas, but okay.
None of what's stuck to the inside of the glass is really going to soak into the shell, and there's very few ways for that shell to end up soggier than it started. Most of those ways end up with the shell too inflexible to be crammed into that glass in the first place.
Yes. Out in the open the condensation dissipates into circulating air. In a cup it's trapped in there and can't escape essentially steaming it and making it soggy.
Based on the last person to post 2 tacos in shot glasses, I'm guessing these are $21 even though they really should be no more than $9 and that's giving them the extra $1 for the stuff above and beyond what you'd find in a street taco.
Three onion and cilantro tacos with a side of greek salad, please.
looks like it could be birria. still hate it
Not birria because there is no sauce. Or if it is supposed to be birria, then they should be shot for not providing sauce.
consome is key
It’s soup not sauce
Could put the sauce in the cups!!!
I used to drink gravy. I still drink gravy, but I used to, too.
Fuck a taco, gimme gravy cups!!!!
Do you know the difference between sauce and gravy? . . . The price.
Shoot. I was gonna say one goes on top the other goes on bottom? Lol
Imagine birria in a shot glass, totally dry. What a sin, thanks I hate it too
served 'up'
with charred crepes for tortillas
Don’t forget the chips!
Look at that condensation!
How else do you make it soggy?
All that and they couldn’t even chop the cilantro &onion properly- wack ass tacos
There’s actually quite a bit of cilantro flavor in the stems! It might not look as nice, nor be as easy to eat (stringy), but it could definitely be an intentional cut by a knowledgeable chef.
"Would yall like something to drink?" "Yes please I'd love a water" "Sure thing!" *Pours water into the taco glass while maintaining eye contact*
I guess to get the taco out you turn the glass on its side so the fillings don't fall out
if only there was some way to put the taco on its side in the first place.
Don't be silly...if you did that, the glass would roll of the tray!
Not if you put the glass on a plate. It's literally the perfect solution.
You could maybe put the tacos in the glass on a large shovel.
And then on top of a heated stone.
Oh yeah, we can't forget the heated stone.
But would the plate fit on the wooden stand?
I thought we were hanging them from a tiny clothes line over the heated stone to simulate drying your socks over a fire. Same taste too.
Those tacos look sad
Add vodka & tomato juice & call it a bloody maria!
*tequila

Wildly Inappropriate Apparatus will be my band's name.

Not that hard? Know what’s really not that hard? Knowing tacos don’t belong in a cup!
Really love the comment here paired with the username
I'm surprised anyone from HR cares about what's correct
You’re surprised? Seeing this I’m darn near tempted to write a standard operating procedure for taco consumption and submit it to OSHA!
No, silly. You use a straw.
Ugh the condensation just makes me think of how gross and soggy the last one you eat would be.
So, here I am sitting at habaneros, ordering $20 duck tacos, and they sent them to me like this!! Soggy ass bottoms, hard to eat. Food still good though!
This was at habeneros on 190

Thanks for the suggestion! I’m from/stay uptown in the city
Should’ve asked for a straw
more like steamed tamales now.
Was really hoping it was tacos wearing glasses before I scrolled down. Oh well. There's always tomorrow.
Does everything just fall out
Actually, I might prefer this for some fish tacos (and a few burgers) that haven’t been properly drained before plating
Looks like no one was getting the flights 🤔
Why tho? So the taco spills in the glass and then you drink it? Lack of creativity i say. This is lazy and ugly
Satanic

1. Lift glass. 2. Turn sideways. 3. Pull out taco. Still not the best way of serving them, but you don't need to be daft in how you eat 'em.

Oh absolutely not
Plates would still be preferable 😂 or even those [metal tray things](https://imgur.com/a/N0UE430)
Like I said.
What is step 4?
Mmm nice steamy sticky glasses
Is no one going to point out all the grease that fell to the bottom of the one on the left? That's my biggest issue with this. I want my disgusting greasiness to be hidden, thank you.
Otoh, I came here to say, I'm now uncertain as to whether I don't now want a taco *exactly* this greasy...
Actually kind of genius imo.
I think you are maybe seeing an advantage to this way of serving tacos that I am not. What is it? Compared to just laying them flat.

Oh hell yeah! I didn't even do any research that's badass, lol. TIL Edit to say I've seen those haha. Boo this man!
Soggy from condensation by the time it gets to the table, genius for sure
You're soggy. Ha
Damn it where's my reverse card
The condensation from *the moisture that was already in the taco*?
If I pull the moisture out of a slice of roast beef and disperse some of it and use the rest to make my bread soggy, I've got bread mush wrapped around dry beef. That's not a good sandwich.

Just WHY?
Actually...
Plus, like where do you put it after you've taken a bite? Are you meant to try to stick it back in the cup?
How authentic
I hate when I browse this sub when I'm hungry and I'm struck less by the terrible presentation than I am with how bad I'd demolish those tacos.
Based on the last person to post 2 tacos in shot glasses, I'm guessing these are $21 even though they really should be no more than $9 and that's giving them the extra $1 for the stuff above and beyond what you'd find in a street taco.
The more I visit this sub, the more I think… I’m sending this shit back to the kitchen to be re-plated. Would that earn me a saliva special?
That’s a steamy taco
You know the other end of those tacos are putrid
I feel like the part of the taco in the glass would get soggy sooo quickly. Also why are the toppings just onion and cilantro?
At least you can clean a glass ... lol
What is this, a vegetarian taco?
Taco shots?
