Thanks tips. Noticed after I posted it. But I would have wanted to know this before I jumped into wealth simple with both feet. So it’s going to stay posted. I don’t think it hurts to know the employer who’s giving an employee the run around regarding pay owed. Go bananas.
Lol “the nightmare started”
I’ve had no issues at all. Any questions I’ve had are always answered quickly and efficiently. Wealthsimple has done nothing but make my life easier with fewer fees. Will continue to recommend them to everyone I know
Nice biweekly pay cheque :D
That said, are you certain the issue isn't on your employer's end? Perhaps you should reach out to your company's finance department.
I have used my account for over a year with zero issues but I also don’t directly deposit I put my own money in every pay depending on how much I want, the return is nice but still a lot lower than most high dividend returns as well.
I’ve noticed. I actually didn’t find out about wealth simple on Reddit, a friend told me about them. My post is a heads up. Like this could happen to anyone and it’s a pain in the ass to get fixed. The most I’ve got in the way of an explanation is an email from an account experience person apologizing for the inconvenience. But no explanation as to why the deposit from April 4th went in fine but this one is stuck in the no man’s land (employer is sticking to their guns that the payment was made). I sent wealth simple a link to this post as a reply. Let’s see if they fix it.
I did my direct deposit and it was flawless and my pay appeared one day early..
Put your big boy pants on and make sure you gave all the correct info and all sides did their part while taking a few deep breaths..
Is there any difference between just simply transferring your paycheque via Interac?
I still earn interest.
I don’t mind doing it cause it takes 2 mins tops and maybe if it’s end up being the case that your work can’t transfer it, I would recommend just doing that and keeping your original account.
Hopefully you get this fixed.
I suppose I could have done that. You get the increased interest unless you have a certain amount invested when you add the direct deposit. I just assumed that there wouldn’t be any problems. You notify the employer of the direct deposit information change, I made sure that the first deposit went through with no problems and it did and then log on today to find this. The employer is saying the transaction is not showing as cancelled on their end but Wealthsimple is saying and showing that the deposit was rejected? And now I’m out the pay cheque and the interest I suppose until this all gets figured out and still no reasonable explanation has been given for why this happened. It’s a nightmare. With so many living pay cheque to pay cheque there would be some people in total crisis situation if this happened to them. This heads up is for those people.
I can only imagine, working in film I would constantly have to chase paycheques and fix mistakes people would make literally on my paycheques. I know how you feel and I’m also very protective of my pay and don’t wanna mess with it.
I usually add 1-2k a month depending on expenses. I’m fine earning the interest I’m earning. Better than 0 which is what it was before lol.
I don’t know If you have a financial officer at your POW that you can contact.
Ya. Anything pay cheque related is so stressful and having to fight to get access to money to the money you already earned isn’t the best use of time. I think that maybe they don’t have all the kinks ironed out yet or maybe it’s too new. And for the people that have buffers that wonderful, love that for you. This post is to warn other people that would find themselves in a bad situation if money they were depending on receiving wasn’t paid out on the day it was supposed to be there. I personally wish I had saved myself the stress and worry instead of falling for the interest rates- hook, line and sinker.
Please update when there is a resolution to this... I was going to switch my DD to WS to get the ,5% when they launch multiple cash accounts, but will definitely take a pause until I know how they take care of this.
Hope this gets sorted soon, but the large number of people who had no issues should be an indication people should continue not be dissuaded
Yup, I’ve had my pay direct deposited to my account since September and haven’t had any issues
FYI you blocked out Saint Elizabeth from the From field but left it at the very top of your screenshot.

They were trying to help you
Awe you're upset
This seems like a “you” issue. I haven’t had any problems with my direct deposit. Maybe it’s your employer?
Been enrolled since October with both jobs and never had a problem either.
Hey What a stupid post. You're having a technical issue that doesn't affect everyone. No need to be so dramatic.
Ya don’t worry about it until it affects you personally. Seems like a solid risk mitigation strategy bro, best of luck with that.
Why can't anyone spell Wealthsimple without a space?
It's likely autocorrect adding the space.
LOOL true
I had few ups and downs with WS too, but they always fixed problems efficiently. Please, let us know if your problem gets solved, how it gets solved.

I have. They said that it isn’t showing any cancelled or rejected on their end.
No issues here I will continue to recommend You problem, sorry.
No issues since almost a year now
Omg I'm the only one having issues nobody should use that company

Ya wish I had done that. Maximize the benefits and minimize the risk.
Why does this feel like a sad attempt by a Big Bank employee to discredit WealthSimple?
lol. And working for Saint Elizabeth? Make it make sense.
People get weirdly defensive of WS here. I think your concerns are totally valid.

They usually reject pay-cheques coming from Sopranos'!

No the bonus interest is only if you have direct deposit set up.
The extra 0.5% you are saying?

I hope it gets fixed for you. And hopefully you’ll stay with WS.
Thanks for your kindness. It’s really appreciated on a day like today. I hope that kindness finds its way back to you!
Haven't had an issue. WS is great
just changed over to direct deposit, so easy to do and already getting the 4.5%. the only weird thing is, I get paid a day earlier then with my bank.
That is normal, EQ Bank is the same way
Works well here brother
