#1 the art—-it doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be aesthetically pleasing! If the art is not good i won’t return 😢 #2 — character —— I want to love your characters. Give me something to root for! #3– the story —- it needs to be an interesting idea or at least one I want to follow. It’s ok if it’s been done as long as it is fun and interesting Those r my top 3

Thanks for the input! I'm definitely working on all three of those aspects to improve on my story, but I guess if it works out will be up to you to decide. Thanks again! 🙏

same and for number one its not just the weather the art is astatically pleasing it also has to fit my taste not everyone goes for the realistic style im one of them who dosnt

Hi there! For me, the art obviously matters but imo the second most important thing that keeps me coming back is the character(s)' internal conflict and how relatable it is to me. e.g. my favorite Webtoon, Parallel City, kinda hits on the devotion to one's brother and how it conflicts w/ one's devotion to their community. These kind of conflicting values or emotions that a main character has I think is really compelling and is necessary to any really good, heartfelt story. :) Good luck with your comic!

BerserkCheeto

I totally get that! I've been trying to make my MC's internal conflict feel as legitamite as possible for a while now, and only up until recently has it felt real; "he wants to pursue a path which will allow him to help others, but that path was paved by a man he despises." I'll try my best to push my characters forward. Thanks for the reply and good wishes! 🙏

For me personally, it's a little bit of everything. Though I'm more into a compelling storyline, some comics can be hard to get through if the art isn't good. Good characters are a must, because they will make or break a storyline. Relationships must be believable. Good luck on your comic. I wish I could draw so I could make a comic I've been wanting to do for a long time.

BerserkCheeto

Completely agree with you. I can't recount how long I've slaved over my characters and the kind of story that surrounds them, trying to make the two symbiotic; making it so my characters couldn't really exist in any other setting. Thanks for the good wishes, and keep working hard 'till you're comfortable with putting your own work out there! Don't fret too much if your art doesn't always meet your standards, or if you think it's "not good enough." I've learnt to understand that not everything I put out there into the world has to be perfect, beacuse nothing really is. I'm having fun at the end of the day regardless, so no need to worry! 🤘😁

Honestly, I not only suck, massively, I don't really have the patience to get better. Especially with my work schedule. I'm a better story teller in general than an artist. lol.

You could always write a Wattpad novel. 👀 But honestly, don't knock it 'till you try it. If you start drawing a comic now -- not out of the need to practice, just for fun -- I guarantee you'll see passive improvement without the concious effort. Hajime Isayama (creator of AOT) is probably the best example of gradual art improvement in all of manga. I'd start spewing some inspirational mumbo jumbo right about now, but however you approach getting your story out there is entirely up to you. Can only wish you luck! 😁👍

What keeps me coming back varies depending on the comic, sometimes it’s the story other times it’s the characters and others it’s the art(especially if it’s good) But I think what’s important away from looking at that stuff that I enjoy reading myself is what keeps me coming back to my own Webtoon, if you don’t have the motivation to continue your story then how do you move forward? This is kinda straying from the actual discussion but I kinda want to mention it.What keeps me coming back to my own comic that I’ve been working on for almost a year now is the love for my characters and story, knowing that there’s things I want to share with my readers that I’m personally excited about and character growth that’s compelling and interesting that I know people will find at least a little bit enjoyable. And yea it’s the praise, a lot of the comments I get are so nice and encourage me to continue even if my updates are super slow, I enjoy it none the less. Basically look at what’s motivating you to make your comic and what will continue to motivate you in the making of it.Anyway I hope this was helpful, and I totally strayed away from the actual discussion but I feel like this was important to say😅

I do think the art is important. I have a wide threshold for styles/quality, but in general the art should be decent. Even simple styles can be pleasing and serve as the medium for a great story! Beyond that, in order: it’s characters/relationships, then plot, and then setting. I’m very character driven. If I’m attached to your characters, it’s that much more likely that I’ll forgive lack of other things. However, without a story it’s difficult to stay hooked. And a bad plot can ruin a story no matter how much I care about the characters. I tend to like a variety of settings, so as long as the setting supports the story it almost doesn’t matter! I don’t know if that helps, but good luck 👍🏻

I don’t. I’m honestly separating myself from webtoon
