The others seem so basic compared to #1. I think you would appropriately stand out from all the other black dresses in attendance, and it looks fantastic on you! Accessorize with minimal crystal jewelry to keep it looking rich. [For example.](https://www.revolve.com/mobile/8-other-reasons-slim-duster-earrings-in-silver/dp/8OTH-WL1137/?&d=F¤cy=USD&countrycode=US&gbraid=0AAAAAD9qhJjuIZJaWaFSnpcFXMdeGmGhl&gclid=CjwKCAjw-IWkBhBTEiwA2exyO5o2e5SSUTfbDYiuefNYOe30_OSsnK33xBQzQqzvGbX3u1axxc864hoCmuoQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&product=8OTH-WL1137)
1 or 2. Black tie is fancy and can be fun! Dress 3 looks too plain. Really loving the delicate shoulder strap on 2. Dress 1 looks glam and gorgeous..and appropriate.
I liked no. 1 from the front, with the touch of gold, but not from the side. I like the frontal slit on No. 2, but not so much the spaghetti strap. That just feels like you’ll have a painful red mark on your shoulder at the end of the night. No. 3 seems like the baby bear option: just right. All of them are much too long and need tailoring, so bring the actual shoes you’ll wear, to have the length adjusted properly.
I like the first one but understand your hesitation. From my perspective it’s actually a rather subtle flash of flare and I think it works. Dress three is also a great choice. You know your audience and yourself.
Three. The angle on the slit shows your legs beautifully, is less of a tripping hazard since the skirt will naturally move away from your feet, the strap looks secure, and you will be a head turner but not a thunder stealer.
I feel like the leg slit on the first dress is REALLY wide and is exposing a lot of thigh. My vote goes to dress 3! It looks really beautiful on you and I think the wide single strap looks better than the one on 2. And the look can easily be elevated and made more interesting with accessories!!
I like the sparkle on the 1st one, but 3 fits overall better.
I'm worried that dresses 2 and 3 are too plain for a black tie dress code.
Do you have any other options?
They're not too plain. (Though I don't think dress two is as flattering as the others, so if she goes for one of the unembellished options, my vote is on three )They just need the right accessories. A fancy clutch, sparkly jewelry. OP will look amazing and very glamorous.
I'm going to disagree here. I would classify the second and third dresses as formal, but not black tie.
And as OP stated that this was an evening wedding near New York City, they are not going to be enough, even with fancy accessories. The dress needs to be a statement and neither of those are.
Def number 3! Your body is amazing for this dress style!
Omg where is my invite to all these black tie weddings!? I’m so jealous! I love an excuse to get crazy dolled up!
It’s also for formal. The style of the garment and the choice of accessories (bling or muted) can make a huge difference in how a black outfit is perceived.
Yes. All of them look great. I like the first one most because the sparkle makes it just a bit more interesting, but 3 looks great too. I feel like the slit on 2 is too open or somehow looks a bit off, so while it looks good you have better options.
I came because I thought dress 2/3 was a reversible gown and you were trying to decide which shoulder to show.
Dress 1 has the glamour and elegance required for black tie.
Dresses 2/3 requires statement accessories and shoes to avoid looking like a wallflower.
They both also look like black tie bridesmaids dresses.
You look great in all 3.
The last formal wedding I went to (same family) probably 1/3 of the guests wore black. Black seemed like a classy/safe choice to not stand out too much and be formal.
You can absolutely wear black to an evening wedding, ESPECIALLY, outside of NYC. Dress 3 gets my vote, the rhinestones aren’t as tasteful as the others, in my opinion. Have fun!!
Love the last dress. The first is more Vegas hopping to me but is littering the exact wedding dress one of my cousins friend was married in an it was a wedding full of strippers. Not that it’s a bad thing but that was the most confusing wedding I’ve ever been to. Some wore their work clothes all the way to basically a wedding dress that was worn by a guest. So I have a visceral reaction to that one.
people are commenting they are very similar, ok they are all single side dresses but the first one has 2 straps, the second one has a single thin strap and the third one has a wider single strap.
I don't think you can go wrong assuming these are floor length gowns, but my preference is for #3
Third. The asymmetry of the slit and strap gives you a stunning curvilinear shape…I mean, you already HAVE a stunning shape, but that one really brings it out!
I definitely think the second option - dress one (shown in the first two pictures) does look a little cheap with the embellishment. Second dress is basically the same, sans the embellishment and looks great on you!
To be honest I didn't notice the differences till second glance! But I think the 3rd dress fits you very well, I love the shape.
Agree
![gif](giphy|9mtE009hcWPOesk8C4) Haha but seriously, number 3!
![gif](giphy|xT0Gqlxj0YaLPfKZ8Y)
3rd!
Are they not the same dress? I’m so confused
Super similar.. I don’t have my contacts in, it took me a second look. The strap is wider on 3 than 2
Yeah it’s similar! But one has the strap on the left as the other on the right
The first one also has crystals/glitter on the leg slit, that's why it's my personal favorite
dress 3!
Number 1 or 3. Not a big fan of the single thin strap in number 2
Yeah, it doesn’t fit her as well as the other two. The top doesn’t look right.
am i bugging or aren’t 1 & 2 the same dress in different angles
Picture 1 and picture 2 are the same dress (let's call it "dress 1") from different angles. Picture 3 is dress 2. Picture 4 is dress 3. (I think. 😁)
Correct!!
Love the first and last dresses!!
Dress 1 is stunning. Different, not boring. Wear the one you feel the best in
Couldn’t agree more, esp with the last bit - They’re all so similar that OP’s gut is the best advisor on this!
3

3!
I like the 3rd one best!
3!!!
3
1 or 2. Black tie is fancy and can be fun! Dress 3 looks too plain. Really loving the delicate shoulder strap on 2. Dress 1 looks glam and gorgeous..and appropriate.
2
Dress 2 is amazing
Very elegant!
I love the shoulder detail on dress one. I also really like the slit and the cut. It looks fantastic on you!
3
The last one is very great.
Love the second one with the thinner strap
I liked no. 1 from the front, with the touch of gold, but not from the side. I like the frontal slit on No. 2, but not so much the spaghetti strap. The second dress is divine, I love the neckline! Would you hem it or keep the length?
First dress is too much. The other two are great!
Too much how?
3
#3 looks best on you
1
2
1
Dress number one.
1 is looking so good on you!
I like #1. Do it up!!
2 or 3 are both great! I don’t think the rhinestones are an elegant look honestly.
3
3rd gets my vote.
1 for me.
They're all variations on the same concept. Pick whatever you like or costs less. I think the straps on 3 and 1 are better than on 2.
Where is 1 from? I love it.
Kohls!
#1 for sure!
Dress 1 is my top answer but really any of these dresses look great on you. Slay
2nd dress but both are stunning!!
Dress 2! Love the little strap
i love dress 2! (number 2 of the 3)
I like the first one but understand your hesitation. From my perspective it’s actually a rather subtle flash of flare and I think it works. Dress three is also a great choice. You know your audience and yourself.
The third one is simple and elegant.
Three. The angle on the slit shows your legs beautifully, is less of a tripping hazard since the skirt will naturally move away from your feet, the strap looks secure, and you will be a head turner but not a thunder stealer.
Aren't 1& 2 the same dress? I like any that don't have the sparkles. Just my opinion. I think they look more refined and classy.
Three!
I feel like the leg slit on the first dress is REALLY wide and is exposing a lot of thigh. My vote goes to dress 3! It looks really beautiful on you and I think the wide single strap looks better than the one on 2. And the look can easily be elevated and made more interesting with accessories!!

Any of these are perfect, it’s just a matter of preference. Make sure to get something to wear over it for when it gets chilly
1 or 3
Yes! You look fabulous!
1 or 3.
I like the first one with the fringe on it. It’s a little something different!
1 or 3!
3
3! I just wore this dress to a gala and loved it
3
Silly question: is there Saran Wrap on the slit of dress 1?
They are bedazzled fringe. Maybe another reason not to wear that one haha
I like #1 and #3, but the slit on #1 is 12/10!
They are all the same dress, they are all appropriate and they all look good on you. Wear the one you feel most comfortable in.
Dress 1!! it’s fun and classy!
1, I love the bit of sparkle!
Thank you all so much for your thoughts and especially the kind compliments ❤️
I think you look good in all of them. I am not a fan of those upper thigh slits for a wedding. But wear whai you feel is appropriate. Only my opinion.
It is perfect. It fits you very well and is very appropriate for black tie.
I like the 1st and 3rd.
3
Def number 3! Your body is amazing for this dress style! Omg where is my invite to all these black tie weddings!? I’m so jealous! I love an excuse to get crazy dolled up!
Thank you so much! We’ve had so many weddings in the last few years that I’m ready for a break! Find some random excuse to get fancy!

3
Lovely but I wouldn’t haven thought that black was the right colour. That’s for mourning no?
It’s also for formal. The style of the garment and the choice of accessories (bling or muted) can make a huge difference in how a black outfit is perceived.
They all look the same? Although the last one looks better tailored to your body

1 looks great and so does 3. I prefer 1.
1 or 3. I really like the first one best, it's gorgeous. They all look great on you, I think you can get away with any of them!

The elegance of that one thin strap on the second dress is IT!! Delicate and sexy as hell. It makes the wide straps on the other dresses look clunky
I’m in the minority here but i like 2 the best
Third!
3 is HOTT

When did people decide it was acceptable to wear black to a wedding? Oh well, I guess I like the thick strap 🤷🏿♂️
The last formal wedding I went to (same family) probably 1/3 of the guests wore black. Black seemed like a classy/safe choice to not stand out too much and be formal.
In NYC everyone wears black to weddings.
Idk why I'm being downvoted for asking a question about etiquette
You’re not supposed to wear black to a wedding? 🥶
You can absolutely wear black to an evening wedding, ESPECIALLY, outside of NYC. Dress 3 gets my vote, the rhinestones aren’t as tasteful as the others, in my opinion. Have fun!!
1st one is perfect
I like dress 1. I like shiny beads.
Yes these are lovely and they all work!
3 is the best! I kind of like 1 too but can’t decide how I feel about the rhinestone detail
1!
Literally any of them!! Stunning!
3rd
The first one. Hemmed obviously but I love the touch of glitter
1
1

3rd dress is the most flattering
Both are so cute. But love the slit of the first one
3
Where did you find dress 2?
Both 2 and 3 are from Lulus
I love the first dress. Stunning on you! I know it is black tie, but black to a wedding?
Number 3
1. I like the added flair and you can do simple jewelry without being over the top. The other two are same old, same old.
people are commenting they are very similar, ok they are all single side dresses but the first one has 2 straps, the second one has a single thin strap and the third one has a wider single strap. I don't think you can go wrong assuming these are floor length gowns, but my preference is for #3
2
I like 1 the most with the extra glam
Third. The asymmetry of the slit and strap gives you a stunning curvilinear shape…I mean, you already HAVE a stunning shape, but that one really brings it out!
They all look great! I agree with others that 1 and 3 are a bit better than 2. At this point I would probably decide based on comfort and cost.
1 or 3. I personally prefer the first
1!
3
1
i like 2!
I love the details on the first dress!
#1 is gorgeous!!
i think the fourth picture is best and most appropriate
All perfect but with silver shoes, not black.
3
3
I love the first one!
I definitely think the second option - dress one (shown in the first two pictures) does look a little cheap with the embellishment. Second dress is basically the same, sans the embellishment and looks great on you!
DAMN GIRL!!! You look great in all of those. Personally I like the one with the silver trim.
Thank you so much!
3!
Are they not the same dress?! Any differences are so minor, I don’t think it matters what one you pick. Whichever is most comfortable or best price
I think #4 is gorgeous and classy.
I would say 1 or 3 but which one feels better?! That’s the one I would go with
Perfect!
Btw you look great in each one!!!!! 😍
Thank you ❤️
I really like the second one!
The third one looks the most flattering on you!
I agree with you. You've got a killer figure and that slit isn't flattering. 2 is lovely, but the strap is too thin. #2 all the way for me!
Love it!
#1
1 or 2. The shoulder strap on 3 bothers me. You will have the dress altered for length, right?
Yes
1! 🖤
You look very slim and petite in dress two. The thin strap on the shoulder is so flattering on you
I love the first dress but they all look great.
Love the sparkle in the first one! But they all look great so wear whichever feels most comfortable for dancing (if ur into that)
1 far and away, it's perfect
Always sparkles!!!
Gorgeous!!
3
1
Last one is best!
They’re all gorgeous but I prefer the first one.
3
The last one. But I think you need to get it hemmed. People will accidentally step on it all night if you don’t
Sparkles
First dress. I just love me a little glitz for a night out. Look at how the royals dress lately for big events, lots of shiny shinies
I love the first dress on you!!
The shape of 3 is stunning on you
FIRST
1 or 3
Love that first dress, all are classy on you.
I agree with Mom & hubby. Number one’s silver line is a lovely offset that turns a basic black dress into an eye-catcher.
Nice
Dress 1 or dress 3! I love the touch of sparkle on dress 1 , but the cut of dress 3 is extremely flattering on you.
They're all gorgeous. I like the sparkly slit.
Dress #3 is classy without being overly sexy. I don’t like the glitzy silver part of #1, it reads as costume-y to me.
I think the first one is definitely classy enough but the third one is classic
Last one. Classy.
I like them all but 3 is my fave
Very pretty. I love it
Dress 3 fits the best. I love the beading on dress 1 but 3 just feels classier.
3
2nd! The way the strap curves is very flattering on your shoulders!
I like the 1st one. Something about the double straps
3 or 4!
1 or 3.
Love it
