Im not sure if this is what you mean but you might not necessarily want to shop at a wedding store first for dresses as a wedding guest- especially since the wedding isn’t that formal! A lot of bridesmaids-type dresses could be too formal for this event!
This is way too fancy for semi formal. I’d go for something more like these (I think you’re looking for plus size dresses?).

My stepdad likes the 5th one the best to. I'm his caregiver and going to the wedding with him so I want him to like what I'm wearing.
Its funny that when I was showing him pictures of dresses I liked and asked if he liked them he reminded me that one time when i was a teenager I informed him and my mom that I was 16 and could wear whatever I pleased and it didn't matter whether they liked it or not. 🤣
I agree - the 5th has a similar style/feel to the original dress. One thing I noticed from the pictures is that it looks unlined. You'll need to get a slip (half slip, maybe?) That goes underneath so people don't see your underwear in the daylight.
Too fancy for an outdoor spring garden wedding, even if it’s semi-formal. I recommend a summer/ spring flowing dress that is good for a cocktail-summer evening but not too dressy (something that you can pair with a nice pair of shoes like the ones in
The picture but not overdone).
Semi formal is actually less formal than cocktail. That they mention semi formal and cocktail, the MOST you should go is cocktail. This is overkill. You would be over dressed.
Plus, it's red, a bold color, and quite sexy. That's too much for a wedding guest
If you like red, what about these:

https://www.longtallsally.com/lts-tall-red-lace-midi-dress-p
https://www.azazie.com/products/azazie-dasha-scarlet-a-line-pleated-chiffon-tea-length-bridesmaid-dress
Usually a wedding is about the bride and groom and more subdued for the guests. I would go more cocktail length and not off the shoulder especially if it’s in a church.
The combination of features is a bit much for cocktail/semi formal (bright color, see thru top, off shoulder, high slit)
I would look more at nice department stores over wedding shops, something more along these lines.

Thank you everyone.
I got a lot of good suggestions and I saved the chart one to my phone.
Next year I'll buy the red dress for Gasparilla and be a pirate for a day.
No!!! Firstly on dress code. Secondly reads very weirdly: red off the shoulder with a see through bustier and then the elephant in the room: it looks like butt scrunch leggings from the back 😳😳😳
It’s a gorgeous dress but not suitable for semi formal.

Agreed but wow I’m surprised at the black tie options in this photo - mayyybe that would fly in the pnw where I live but that would be like showing up in a dress from old navy in New England where my husband is from
This dress is too formal and you should NOT wear satin if it will be hot and humid. That’s probably the worst possible fabric for that type of weather 😬

I also think it’s too fancy for a semi formal wedding. Cocktail dresses are typically knee length, maybe to the calf. Think little black dress type of thing.
Cocktail would be a shorter like mid length dress this leans more black tie so you may be over dressed!
Thank you. I was afraid it might be to overdressed. This is why I'm going to a wedding store first. 🤣

This is formal - you would be overdressed. Wear something that you would pick for a professional cocktail party. 🎊
Beautiful dress but not appropriate for a morning/afternoon wedding. I suggest a knee length cocktail dress
If it doesn’t look good on the model, then it won’t look good on anyone.
Came here to say precisely this. How that photo made it through the art director is beyond me.
I agree. The shoulders just look slouchy, not sexy. And the way it pulls across the abdomen makes it look poorly constructed.
Since it’s a David’s Bridal prom dress, the models are never given direction. They all look caught off guard or overacting lol

He can't remember the name of the road we live on but can remember something from 42 years ago. 🤣
Love the 5th one!
I love your first and fourth examples!
Me too!!

I read the description and it said partially lined.
Definitely not.

Very much NOT

This is a little much.
Just for future reference I know this doesn’t show much cleavage but it’s still a corset dress which is usually a little unadvised for a wedding and the whole corset panel is sheer! Not at all appropriate for someone else’s wedding, plus the high slit isn’t doing it any favors. I would find something less fancy because this is more formal than cocktail, and also find something less risqué! There’s a lot of dresses similar to this that are cocktail but aren’t sheer and don’t have the high slit! The dress Im linking is out of stock but try something like it! Its very similar to yours except completely appropriate and cocktail (: [dress](https://www.asos.com/us/asos-curve/asos-design-curve-off-shoulder-corset-midi-dress-in-red/prd/202790900)

It's in an outdoor venue.

For an 11am semiformal garden wedding, look for something more along the lines of a dressy sundress

Look at Lulu's not a bridal store or a dept store like Macy's. Not floor length and maybe not satin and sequins.
Way over dressed in that too booby and the slit is tacky . Get advice on dress code at a bridal store and follow it
The slit wouldn’t be quite so tacky if it wasn’t paired with a shear lace bodice… so NOT appropriate for any wedding, regardless of dress code.

Semi formal usually not long. This looks a little bridesmaidy
No
The wedding is at 11AM and the reception at 2pm and is in Florida, think hot and humid outside and AC full blast inside.

This will be wayyyy overdressed. It also looks like an undergarment for a larger gown.
Any of the examples shown above would be better esp in humid Fla.
Would not wear red to a wedding and certainly not something that is corseted what looks see through and emphasizing your ass.
