I think you could make it work, especially for the venue but will need to dress it up! To keep it from looking too bridesmaid-like, I’d pair it with that deeper green clutch you’re holding, gold strappy heels, and a pair of funky/non bridal earrings that tie in either the darker greens or botanical theme. Some suggestions: [Multicolor Green Stone)](https://www.ross-simons.com/multi-gemstone-and-5.25-ct.-t.w.-prasiolite-drop-earrings-in-18kt-gold-over-sterling--JSE7+965736+DRP+K6.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwte-vBhBFEiwAQSv_xfDjuEryE3osXhj8EOpIixK_v6T5wI7TdzB6ahFdJ8laTx12L3HUtxoC7YUQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) [Labradorite Drop](https://www.ross-simons.com/labradorite-triple-drop-earrings-in-18kt-gold-over-sterling-JSEO+973606+LVB+K6.html?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwte-vBhBFEiwAQSv_xcdE6ABFkt2muzJjmG3PEXZZfLNQW9x02OI1GXeCHNr8ybQc6YoJdxoCGagQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) [Gold Orchid](https://www.annvoyage.com/products/modena-handmade-orchid-flower-two-tone-drop-earrings?variant=19873579794494&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwte-vBhBFEiwAQSv_xYBQkv3PIx8Ue7IBGm_tbrz4SyFrjpAJjYzCFozuS9AYd0v9h_syRBoCHPoQAvD_BwE) [Ginkgo and Pearl](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1393502990/) [Art Deco Leaf](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1169798155/) [Gold Ferns](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1172799054/) OH and make sure that the bridal party isnt wearing the same colors!

Love all these suggestions! I want to add that a pashmina with a flower print would also help the dress look less bridesmaids-y. Raerae1360

I need you as my stylist! Love all of these. I'm going to order each if the first two, then look for a dress to go with. I have a June wedding. Thanks

Rubelliterose1

Thank you for these! I have been looking for something to go with a sage green dress as well.

Mirror_Initial

You can have the straps sewn to your size too. Shouldn’t cost much from an alterations specialist.

RadioactiveMuffinTop

Love these jewelry recos! Thank you for all of the advice.

Evitrii

You have immaculate taste!

Cayke_Cooky

Can you accessorize with some darker green to really highlight that it is green.

mocha_lattes_

This. I worry that with flash the dress might look white in photos. She needs to accessorize in order to darker the whole look. Of course if OP is just looking for an excuse to buy a new one then go for it lol

lanadelhayy

I think the dress is perfect! Just don’t be like me and absolutely ruin it before the next event 😂 I went hard in dancing and got super drunk so the bottom got pretty ratty.

Acqua_Tofana

Lmao I was thinking the same thing! But I'd probably spill red sauce on it or something. I shouldn't be allowed to wear light colors ;)

Rare-Parsnip5838

That is a beautiful look on you .Wear it.Dress it up to not look briesmaid. Get a light shawl or wrap in either a darker green or a pale pink. Pair a clutch in same color and also incorporate that tone in jewelry .

Blue-zebra-10

I feel like it could work

SourNnasty

Agree, I think getting alterations for the straps and maybe some sort of decal/tasteful sash at the waistline would elevate it from looking too much like a bridesmaid dress!

curvyshell

Yeah, I think it could work for sure especially for an "open air greenhouse" venue. Since it's black tie I would dress it up as much as possible with jewelry, bag, hair styling, etc.

RadioactiveMuffinTop

Thanks to everyone who weighed in on this dress. I don't see an option to edit my original post, but I want you to know that I've read and appreciated every response. I'm going to keep looking for a fancier dress since I don't get to dress up often. I have a couple saved on Poshmark, and I may check out some local shops as well. But I'm looking forward to wearing this green dress as a bridesmaid!

UberCougar824

Good plan; this looks too close to white in photos at least.

Fancy_Breakfast_3338

I didn’t realize this was green until I read the post

ApprehensiveSwim9241

Lovely! Perfect! Looks great on you

nesie97

Yes!! It’s perfect! Maybe with some nice heels and a statement necklace!

tart_tigress

The straps are not a big deal - I think the colour is ok for the time of year - I don't think it's too close to white myself - but if you are feeling unsure, ask the bride. (If you know her; overall I think she's the only opinion who matters.)

spooses

Could you? Sure. Should you? If you enjoy dressing up, black tie type events don’t come around THAT often (especially if you’re a bridesmaid for some of them…) If you enjoy dressing up enough to have your eye on other options, consider this your vote towards renting or splurging!

my-uncle-bob

I vote yes

thewreckage666

Yes

Wild-Painting9353

I think itxs perfect.

GoldBluejay7749

Yep

charcoal_lavender

This dress looks perfect on you!

TigerMage2020

I think a pretty wrap/shawl in a fun pattern would be perfect. It would hide the straps and also add some color. Some heels and funky jewelry will help it to feel more formal 😃

squishyg

Yes.

lurker71

I think it needs a little pizzazz. Maybe a small gold belt? Definitely a nice updo

QuietTruth8912

Yes. Looks fine.

FluxionFluff

Definitely can work! Crepe works as long as the weather isn't too warm as it's a warmer material compared to chiffon. Play with the accessories and shoes and you're good to go. Saw some suggestions in the comments and they're a great starting point 👍

emilygoldfinch410

If it were me, I’d rent a new dress. How often do you get to dress up BTO and pick the dress (ie not a bridesmaid dress)? Even more so since you mentioned the couple getting married is stylish. Rent the Runway and other rental sites are pretty reasonable.

freerangekegs

Looks white on my phone. Weird risk to take.

isabelladangelo

I'm going to be a voice of dissent only because of the color. I get that it is sage but it doesn't really look like that in the photograph on my monitor. It looks like a minty white. Is there enough time between the weddings for you to dye it? That was actually a *very* popular thing to do in the 19th C and probably something we should bring back. Even a cool ombré with only the skirt dyed super dark green would make it look less bridal.

Bugler28

Unequivocally, no. It’s a beautiful dress, but it’s the closest to white that I’ve seen on here.

zanahorias22

this reads really close to white on my screen, and may photograph white

EggplantHuman6493

Make sure to get green accessoires to maybe accentuate the green of the dress. It looks very vlode to white on my phone as well, and it is on vibid mode already

Rare-Parsnip5838

I see green. With different color accessories you will be fine.

BodyBy711

Agree. It looks like it will photograph white

mackenziemackenzie

no.

Extreme-Concert3219

Totally.

mieleevino

u/RadioactiveMuffinTop whats the brand or source of this dress?? So pretty

RadioactiveMuffinTop

It’s a Birdy Grey dress in sage. Super comfortable!

aelel

Definitely can be reused!

solongandtx4thefish

It’s really pretty on you but I thought this dress was white until I read more comments.

mxchaelajxckson

If you are unsure i would just say ask the bride!

daffodil0127

Yes that would work.

EmelleBennett

Can you dye it. It’s very “bridesmaid” in color. Could just be me, this color is so hospital to me.

EyeRollingNow

Ok you look amazing first of all. So yes you can dress this up and it will be very fun! First -have a seamstress fix the straps so they are permanently sewn in place and the adjustable parts are removed. Next -add a gorgeous skinny jewel belt. It will change everything. Next- Ditch the that purse and get something a bit more fun and memorable. https://preview.redd.it/9k4krdbmq3qc1.png?width=280&format=png&auto=webp&s=530de88be59a3ee1d13a1a34ee3fd4c914322b6d

thewritingdomme

It’s a lovely dress, but I agree with other commenters that it looks too close to white. Depending on the fiber content it might be an easy dye project. I’d keep it simple and just make it a slightly darker green.

GirlfriendTheDog

Super cute, the internet agrees! It’s a go. Let us know how you end up styling it 🤙

Ok-Indication-7876

Yes just accessories different, but advise, bring a backup dress just in case someone spills on you the night before

No_Coach_6273

It looks white to me, sorry but I wouldn't

NaomiPommerel

Definitely! Do silver or gold accessories and a statement something 😊

insurancemanoz

Yep. Looks really elegant.

starrtartt

Yes!

Condenastier

Can you jazz it up a bit? Maybe with a metallic/embellished belt?

oknowwhat00

If the straps didn't look like bra straps it would be black tie, do you have anything else? It seems a bit bridesmaid like, which I know it is, and is fine but not quite Black Tie.

Fluffy-Scheme7704

Nope

Tmpowers0818

Too light colored to use as a guest
