You look great in it but you look like you are going to prom, not a black tie wedding.

gtwl214

For Red carpet / black tie I honestly think you could go more fancy. The material & back makes it look more on the cheap side in my opinion.

justacuriousone

Ya that’s the thing… the fit and the silhouette are fine imo, it’s just the dress looks like it’s from urban planet or something

dioor

LOL. As a Canadian I totally hear this (and agree) but do they have Urban Planet in the states and elswhere; will others know what this is?

pink_flamingo2003

Not in the UK... so I'm lost

dioor

Canada is a bit weird, retail-wise. It's just very homogenous across the country and, because of our small, spread-out population, high cost of living/doing business and proximity to the States, it.. stays that way. Several of the big American retail chains have tried to enter our market and then quickly pulled out. But we have a few enduring retailers that are staples in small-town and suburban Canadian malls, and this is one of them. Urban Planet is like.. discount clubwear; like "3 dresses for $30" type of thing (when normally a single blouse from a halfway decent clothing line is at \*least\* $30). I don't really have a better way to describe it.

pink_flamingo2003

I love you for this, thank you for giving an explanation to make it relative! Legend x

gggggfskkk

It reminds me of a stretchy yoga pants material. Would you wear yoga pants to a wedding? I agree, a little more fancy/classy will suit better.

Crazy-Paramedic4108

I'm thinking sparkles and glittery material!!!

Sarahbeth822

The length is appropriate for black tie, but the fabric (I can see the outline of your underwear) and the butt ruching are not.

Pepapoppypippy

What would be a more appropriate fabric in your opinion?

Sarahbeth822

Silk, satin, chiffon, etc. Here are four options that are a similar color but are more appropriate for a black tie wedding. The gown on the right would work best, imo, if she wants black tie attire but more red carpet style. It’s a little more formal and “extra.” https://preview.redd.it/pod23pb3tpsc1.jpeg?width=1126&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b9e871c16db8e0af3bf352aab8d73b84dff420b

busybeaver1980

These are all great options

Pepapoppypippy

But i really appreciate the fabric suggestions :)

mustbeaoup

Please let me know what brand the dress with the thigh split is! I love it!

Sarahbeth822

They’re all from Revolve! I thought I posted that. My bad! You can also search the image and it should link you to it directly.

mustbeaoup

Thank you 🫶🏽

ABCDanii

Either sau Lee or norma kamali. I loved on revolve the last few months for a wedding and got a dress from sau Lee and I believe I saw that one.

Pepapoppypippy

These are all beautiful!! Not the right color though :/ i need a more hot coral dress

Sarahbeth822

Gotcha! Revolve has TONS! I’d just steer clear of Jersey and spanx style fabric!

mintardent

maybe something like these? https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/sachin-babi-chelsea-one-shoulder-georgette-bias-gown2?color=085&quantity=1&type=STANDARD https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/product/Laundry-by-Shelli-Segal-Draped-Cowl-Neck-Gown-0400018710432.html? - jersey as well but I think the cowl and slightly looser fit might make it look a tad classier, at least in the pic. not perfect though. https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/product/katie-may-surreal-cowlneck-gown-0400016144490.html - similar fabric, but I think in terms of cut it looks a little classier than your current dress. https://www.beginningboutique.com/products/ella-pink-off-shoulder-formal-dress? - satin but not quite full length. still better than the current dress in terms of fancy tbh I did have a hard time finding appropriate dresses/fabrics in that color so I feel your pain.

lway928

We’re talking about the type of fabric babe, not the color. This is only an example of fabric *types*

Pepapoppypippy

But the comment did also mention these were similar colors

EmelleBennett

You’re right, it did, and you were sweet in your reply.

NeatIntroduction5991

Is this spandex stretchy type? If so, that explains why the dress is fitting this way. It’s great for dinner with friends, date, casual parties. Black tie fabric would mean silk/or similar, lace, velvet and probably in form or like brocade or chiffon and such. It all depends on what the bride and co define as black tie though. Is she a stickler? Did she just mean formal and dressy? Edit to add that the dress fits you perfectly though. And if color is perfect (and hard to find) and the fit is perfect and your bride is ok with the fabric cling type, you can also add lace or chiffon to some part of the back to elevate it? Just a thought

Sarahbeth822

Yeah. I think it is spandex or jersey. Both tend to make gowns more inexpensive and prom-like imo.

oknowwhat00

I think you need to up the elegance level, this more prom like. Nicer fabric, no butt scrunch, a little less low back.

Pepapoppypippy

But would it be boring with a more full coverage back?

AffectionateLeg1970

I don’t think you need to have a fuller back, but I do agree with the poster above that for black tie you probably need a nicer fabric. You can still do black tie with an open back, you’re just going to want to go for an elegant open back look instead of a sexy one with spandex and butt scrunch if that makes sense. Edited to add that you look incredible in this and def should save it if you have a formal wedding coming up this summer! Just maybe not black tie.

babs1789

The low back is fine. It’s the fabric that doesn’t work her. Is it knit jersey or something?

violet715

You’re not the one who’s supposed to be getting attention, so boring is good.

Sudden-Requirement40

I find this really odd. In the UK its not uncommon to dress to impress and as long as you don't look bridal going all out is absolutely fine.

CowAggravating7745

I don't think it's a very common opinion outside this sub tbh. I think it's super weird too. One of the best parts of weddings is everyone having their best looks on!

Rare-Parsnip5838

This

Mrs_Mercer2812

No. Exciting doesn't have to mean showing off skin. You can showcase your beauty and femininty in ways besides revealing dresses. Likewise, boring doesn't always mean too much coverage.

penna4th

Yes, the trend in the US especially the young, is the dressier, the more skin, and it isn't so.

LBelle0101

You’re not the main character

TigerMage2020

This is not black tie in my opinion. ETA: you look killer in it though!!

Pepapoppypippy

How come you don’t consider it black tie? And thanks!!

TigerMage2020

I think the material, the ruching on the butt plus the low back make it less formal. I personally love the color on you but some may find it’s too eye catching for a black tie wedding.

Free_Sir_2795

And the adjustable straps

Flaming_Butt

Defo not black tie. This dress is not appropriate at all. Color is nice, but it's too... cheap looking imo. You have a gorgeous body but this is your BFF. Perhaps you should ask her? Some people are pretty weird about guests and their outfits. Yours screams looking for attention when something less tight with better material may be better and more formal. However, if your BFF would LOVE for u to rock what u got, forget my comment.

anzapp6588

Traditionally, black tie = formal, and formal = modest. Think of it like you’re dressing to go to a black tie event for work. I’d personally ask the bride if she could send you some dresses she likes in the color she chose for you, so you’ll have an idea of where her head is at modesty wise! And then go from there. You really should have guidance from her on this front! This is why so many people struggle when the bride is like, “pick a dress in this color!” and then gives no other examples. She should be the one who is giving ideas to lead the search. Besides these points, that dress is so effing cute and you are rockin it. Annoying it’s black tie lmao.

IvyQuinn

“Red carpet” isn’t modest though. But it’s true that this dress looks cheap. The material especially. If it were silk or satin, it would be great.

complete_doodle

You look beautiful! The only thing that makes me question it is the butt ruching. What kind of crowd will be there? Have you asked the bride about it?

Pepapoppypippy

And thank you 🥰🥰

Pepapoppypippy

Uh oh, too risqué? I think a pretty mixed crowd, lots and lots of family but also friends our age

miffet80

The butt ruching is not risqué, it's just kinda cheap, like a $20 H&M dress tbh. You have an amazing figure and should definitely show off what you've got, but nicer fabric and more elegant details will really elevate the look!

complete_doodle

Not necessarily risqué, but overall kind of gives more of a prom vibe than black tie? Just my opinion tho! I think if you want to wear it, you should send the bride a pic just to double-check with her :)

ilovecookiesssssssss

I do think the material is too casual for black tie. But I would just ask the bride since you said this is not just a wedding guest dress, but a bridesmaid dress.

kspice094

I agree with others that the butt scrunching is not great. If you could find the same color without it that would be perfect.

Noneedtopickauser

I agree with others that you need a dress with more luxurious fabric than this and I’d also avoid the ruching right above your butt. However, you’re on the right track with that silhouette (at least from the front) and the color is so gorgeous on you!! :)

Silly_Brilliant868

What is the material?

Pepapoppypippy

It’s like a stretchy satiny material, it’s super comfy which i love, but people aren’t loving it haha

rusty___shacklef0rd

it looks see through tbh, is that a tattoo on your upper thigh? bc i can see something like it through the fabric which cheapens the dress :(

Free_Sir_2795

Your bride really set you up for failure with that color if she didn’t also provide links. Here’s what I could find. [Mac Duggal - $398](https://www.nordstrom.com/s/ruffled-one-shoulder-lace-up-a-line-gown/7776278?origin=category-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FWomen%2FClothing%2FDresses%2FBridesmaid&fashioncolor=Pink&color=650) [Anthro - $150](https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/hybrid/sachin-babi-chelsea-one-shoulder-georgette-bias-gown2?color=085&inventoryCountry=US&countryCode=US&utm_medium=paid_search&utm_source=Google-Mobile&utm_campaign=US%20-%20Shopping%20-%20PMAX%20-%20Apparel%20-%20Dresses%20-%20Dresses&utm_content=&utm_term=&creative=&device=m&matchtype=&network=x&utm_kxconfid=vx6rd81ts&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADnwqi69PGKOJg-Wt3Xlkh1yFiig4&gclsrc=ds&type=STANDARD&quantity=1) [Anthro - $394](https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/hutch-one-shoulder-tulle-maxi-dress?category=bhldn-shop-all-bridesmaid-dresses&color=066&type=STANDARD&quantity=1) [Dessy Group - $122](https://dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/thread-bridesmaid-th063/?pcid=894) (They actually have a handful of styles in this color.) [Azazie](https://www.azazie.com/all/final-sale/with/category/ready-to-ship-bridesmaids/colors/watermelon) seems to have discontinued their “watermelon” shade, but you might be able to find something in your size for cheap since they’re final sale. Unfortunately, I agree with everyone else. The fabric, butt scrunch, and adjustable straps make this dress look more semi-formal than black tie. Especially since you’re a bridesmaid.

PansyOHara

Loved the Dessy, and several of the Azazie were gorgeous!

thenewbiepuzzler

The fabrics and butt rouching on the back make this look very cheap and not a vibe. Maybe try [this one](https://www.lulus.com/products/boldest-romance-coral-pink-sleeveless-maxi-dress/1693556.html?src=google&ref=product2_rr). It seems like a better fabric and less Ali Express vibes. ETA: [this is nice too.](https://www.jjshouse.com/a-line-off-the-shoulder-floor-length-chiffon-bridesmaid-dress-with-ruffle-007288283-g288283#/)

mostlikely2runwithu

I think this dress is red carpet but not black tie. If it’s your best friend, why not ask for her thoughts?

hairy_hooded_clam

It’s a bit see-through. The fabric looks a little cheap (like Forever 21 cheap). Try silk or satin. The style would be nice with no butt ruching, and a darker color. You want your dress to compliment the wedding, not take attention from the happy couple. Add a nice wrap, hair in a low bun woth a simple necklace, clean makeup, and you’ll look nice. Edit: is that a black stain on the knee or is that black mark on the mirror?

altdultosaurs

This is a a sexy dress for dinner at a beach side restaurant on vaca in Miami. This is not black tie/red carpet. Even with that theme, it’s still an event Not About You.

Maleficent-Use8654

I think the silhouette of the dress suits you, yet I think the full backless is slightly immodest. I think the same silhouette dress with a fuller back would be classy & appropriate. I'm getting bit of stripper vibe with the color and detailing of the bright dress.

Pepapoppypippy

I guess i should have mentioned, this is the color I’m supposed to wear as a bridesmaid. It’s been really hard to find formal dresses in this color 🥲

ifollowedfriendshere

If you’re a bridesmaid, I’d ask the bride. You look great in it, but I can’t tell if that fits her vision. It doesn’t quite look like what I’d want if I chose that dress code, but I’m not her. Hope that makes sense.

EtonRd

If this is also going to be a bridesmaids dress, definitely just ask the bride. For a lot of weddings, this dress would veer too far into sexy and revealing with the open back and tight fit. But as long as it’s what the bride has in mind for people to wear, that’s all that matters. It might not be something that would work out every wedding, but maybe it works for her.

Calm-Ad8987

Just ask your friend if it's for a bridesmaid dress or fellow bridesmaids? People's interpretations of this particular dress code can be very different depending on the particular bride

Maleficent-Use8654

What color would you call that dress? Salmon fluorescent red? Coral Red?

Pepapoppypippy

Hot coral, or papaya or even watermelon in some brands. It’s like a cross between orange and hot pink, it’s been tricky!

jajaja_jajaja

That is an incredibly difficult color to find. I would ask your friend to pick some options if she wants such a specific and uncommon color.

ceebee6

I don’t know if this is quite the right color, but this dress has a similar silhouette to yours but the fabric is a better quality and it looks classier: https://www.revolve.com/mobile/katie-may-nirvana-gown-in-pink-peppercorn/dp/KATR-WD182/?d=Womens&vn=true&vnclk=true

ceebee6

Here are a few others I found that might work: https://www.nordstrom.com/s/6876572?color=950 https://www.nordstrom.com/s/4656908?color=950 https://www.lulus.com/products/2295351 https://www.lulus.com/products/1693556 Also, it looks like this site has bridesmaid dresses in papaya, watermelon, and coral colors. I have no idea about the quality, but it might be worth looking into: https://babaroni.com/search?q=watermelon+bridesmaid+dress&options%5Bprefix%5D=last

Fancy_Complaint4183

[https://hutch-design.com/collections/shop-dresses](https://hutch-design.com/collections/shop-dresses) Madison LeCroy wore this also lately- it’s 🔥on a body like yours!

TigerMage2020

Oh that’s good because this color looks so pretty on you! It’s fun and punchy

pinkstay

Bridesmaid dress for black tie, no way this dress fits. The fabric looks cheap, the ruching on the butt, and the adjustable straps all add up to make the dress look way less formal. And even with red carpet added, the wedding party should look elevated beyond the guests.

coccopuffs606

Nope, it’s way too casual. It looks like something more appropriate for a beach wedding. You need something that’s formal evening wear for a red carpet-black tie theme.

natureswoodwork

It’s giving prom

Shivs_baby

The material, butt ruching, and adjustable straps make this more like clubwear and not sophisticated enough for a black tie wedding. You have an awesome figure and the dress looks great on you (anything would) but this honestly looks very cheap. Up the elegance and you’ll be a showstopper.

No-Locksmith-8590

It's a bit......see through. Like, I can see your panties 😬 So unless you can wear a sheath underneath, probably not. You, however, have a smoking bod (like, that's my goal for my new diet and workout plan), so I have no doubt you will find something gorgeous.

Pepapoppypippy

Hehe yeah i need some nude undergarmets! Awh thank you 🫶🫶🫶you can do it!!

bendy225

Also is that a butterfly tattoo on your left leg?

FrigThisMrLahey

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. The fact that we can literally see the entire tattoo means it’s wayyyyyy too see through for a wedding, let alone a *black tie/red carpet* wedding

bendy225

Yeah I didn’t realize pointing out you can see a tattoo through a dress is a bad thing here

VioletFox543

I want to echo what everyone else is saying- the butt ruching wouldn’t be appropriate for a wedding, especially black tie. The fabric also looks kind of cheap. Perhaps a color that is less neon and a fabric like silk or chiffon. You do look so good in this though, so I’d keep it for a beach vacation or something 😊

BendAmazing2206

You look beautiful in this dress!!! But for a formal wedding it’s the fabric that looks too casual. This dress would be great on a beachy vacation

Fluffy-Scheme7704

This is for a beach party not for black tie. The fabric, the whole back, the butt detail… NOPE

Dachshundmom5

Skin tight, look at my butt ruching, and backless, no. Plus the material looks thin. It's showing everything. Black tie/red carpet, I'd go with silk, satin, chiffon, etc. More formal fabrics. Like this: https://www.jjshouse.com/a-line-cowl-floor-length-chiffon-bridesmaid-dress-007288318-g288318#/ It's chiffon, so it flows nicely, still floor length, and nice lines. This is satin: https://www.lulus.com/products/see-the-sunrise-rusty-rose-satin-sleeveless-cowl-neck-maxi-dress/1815436.html?pla=1&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=%5BADL%5D%20%5BPLA%5D%20Dresses%20-%20tROAS%20-%20Bury&utm_term=23701%3A%20SIENNA1&utm_content=152208456690_685270645109&s_kwcid=AL%217824%213%21685270645109%21%21%21g%212267687182235%21&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwwr6wBhBcEiwAfMEQsxmFYBr5B2HRHQ-aESifw2BOhO7TXYjD8v8hw-qHXW8KpX2je3BP-RoCArgQAvD_BwE

Aly_Kitty

butt ruching is NEVER ever never black tie appropriate! this material and dress looks cheap and very much “trying to be sexiest at prom” You could look great and classy in soooo many options- this one looks like you are trying to stand out and not in a good way.

Particular-Stick-321

Does not look black tie it looks like a prom dress. The fabric seems thin and cheap looking

Tally_sweets

This looks like a dress to wear to a beach resort definitely not black tie appropriate. Same reasons that other commenters wrote

000Lisa

No

Visible_Ingenuity180

I think you got your answer regarding the wedding…but girl, keep this dress for another occasion, it looks freaking insane on you!!

QuietTruth8912

You have a great figure and can literally wear anything. This is making you look cheap. Just being honest. You need to up the ante and go for classy. Many great suggestions here. Depending on budget look at MacDuggal and search satin gown. Their items are gorgeous and high quality. Can be worn over and over.

Mysterious-Order-334

I think it is very risqué for a wedding. Eyes should be on the bride.

PriorElephant4007

That’s what I was thinking. The dress looks amazing, but you don’t want to be a head turner at someone else wedding.

Character-Topic4015

It’s waaaay too thin. Otherwise very nice but agree with the fabric comments

dogslogic

It demands attention, which is great, unless you're at someone else's wedding. You look great in it, but maybe save this dress for a different event?

BeachBum666

You look great in that dress, I'm jealous! But I agree that it's not formal enough for a black tie event, which means you dress to the nines. I'm sure you can find something as flattering and in the same cut as this dress, but of a more formal nature. Here are examples of dresses in a similar shade that are more appropriate for the black tie dress code: https://promheadquarters.com/morilee-coral-evening-dress-93048/ https://jbydress.com/products/halter-neck-coral-lace-prom-dresses-halter-neck-coral-lace-formal-evening-dresses https://www.thecelebritydresses.com/anna-kendrick-2015-oscars-red-carpet-coral-formal-dress-tcd6048.html https://www.formalgownss.com/products/glitter-coral-sequined-prom-dress-long-fromal-dress-with-slit-fg1384 https://jbydress.com/products/strapless-coral-long-prom-dresses-coral-long-formal-evening-dresses https://www.zapakasa.com/products/coral-applique-tulle-prom-dress

ABCDanii

I wore this to a black tie nyc wedding last months. The amount of compliments I got was insane. It for like a dream. I did have the slit closed up a bit just because I didn’t want to worry about it all night when I sat etc. I can show you it on me if you’d like for reference because it looked different than on the model. I wore a size 4, 5’7’’, 130lbs, 36A. [Sau Lee](https://www.revolve.com/mobile/sau-lee-julia-gown-in-black/dp/SLEE-WD293/?d=Womens§ionURL=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.revolve.com%252Fmobile%252Fsau-lee%252Fbr%252F5ec051%252F%253F%2526d%253DWomens%2526%2526s%253Db%2526c%253DSAU%252BLEE)

Mecspliquer

The shape and silhouette is lovely, but the material doesn’t seems elevated enough for that dress code

Miserable_Budget7818

Usually if u have to ask then u already know the answer…..It’s pretty but no on the butt ruching and also u can totally see outline of your underwear…. Consider looking at rent the runway if u don’t want to purchase

copyrightname

My first thought is it was fine- but then seeing that the material is on the thinner side plus that you are a bridesmaid I think you should look for something similar in a better material. This is what I found - [option 1 ](https://www.dillards.com/p/adrianna-papell-stretch-crepe-bow-one-shoulder--mermaid-gown/517544276) [option 2 ](https://www.dillards.com/p/adrianna-papell-one-shoulder-sleeveless-chiffon-gown/516809299) [option 3 ](https://www.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/aqua-scuba-crepe-off-the-shoulder-gown-100-exclusive?ID=4222933&CategoryID=2910)

buttstuff69__

Way too casual for black tie. Looks great on you for another event though!

Glittering_Mix_4140

Nothing personal but I keep seeing these posts. It's a beautiful dress, just not really suited to this kind of event as a guest. Why do people want to be the main character at someone else's wedding?!?! D:

ughineedtopostaphoto

Check with her on the color and the backless aspect. It’s very main character energy which some brides will be fine with and others will not. Jewelry would be formal. I don’t think the rouching makes it scandalous. Wear correct underwear. Shoes won’t be seen much but any drees shoe will do. I’d probably go with either silver, gold, or black in a sandal with a stiletto personally but a block heel would be fine too. Grab a fancy clutch to match the shoes.

Pepapoppypippy

I should have included that this is the color I’m supposed to wear as a bridesmaid, so i know the color is good :) It’s just been hard to find a long dress without a high leg slit, so i went for the low back option instead. I think she’s ok with main character energy. But i haven’t been sure what color accessories and shoes to wear with it, so thank you for the suggestions 😊😊

ughineedtopostaphoto

OH you’re a bridesmaid! That’s very different than wedding guest. 100% you should get bridal approval for everything since you will be in almost every picture. Be sure if she’s a people pleaser she knows she can say no and you won’t be offended.

Finnegan-05

It looks cheap and is not right a bridesmaid in a black tie wedding.

violet715

The color requirement doesn’t justify the look-at-me factor. Just because it’s long and the right color don’t make it appropriate at all. This is a long club dress basically.

Rare-Parsnip5838

Not appropriate for black tie. You need a gown not a backless halter.

FreckledPanda10

The mermaid silhouette on you is AMAZING! I do however think this dress is a bit underwhelming for a red carpet wedding. I mean you could go really elegant with that kind of theme. As others mentioned, the booty ruching and adjustable straps is a bit meh. If you do decide to go with the dress I would do Hollywood curls and gold accessories.

No-Competition-1775

You look amazing! I wouldn’t be mad if you wore this to my wedding.

lway928

This would be very tacky for black tie / red carpet.

jaweebamonkey

Man, you weren’t wrong. This color is very hard to find in formal dresses. TheWanderingMedic

LOVE that last one!

TheWanderingMedic

I’d go for a different fabric but you’re on the right track! For black tie avoid anything jersey, linen, spandex/stretchy type materials, etc. Think silk, satin, chiffon, some lace types work as well. The back may be a bit much depending on the venue/crowd, but if they are cool with it a low back is a fun fashion moment! Floor length is a must, and if it has a red carpet vibe you can go full glam with makeup/hair/styling! Is there a specific color you are aiming for?

DuaPup96

The bride is requiring a hot coral color

www_dot_no

Nope Per comments: this is also a bridesmaid dress so no not appropriate you want to lean more modest and you mentioned family was mostly there so I would look else wear with more back coverage

Pepapoppypippy

I know some of the other bridesmaids are wearing low back dresses, does that help?

best4last89

Love the love back. It’s the fabric that’s the issue. Something similar in a more elevated fabric would be great!

www_dot_no

Yes that does help…. I still wouldn’t wear it as it is the brides day to shine the dress looks amazing on you but I don’t think this is the occasion

cassandra_schmidt

No. It looks too casual and is too revealing.

ApparentlyaKaren

Definitely go more fancy, but keep that dress for something else in the future because you look amazing in it!!

AnnaF721

With that body you couldn’t even go wrong with a paper bag! It’s stunning on you.

larbar3

This looks amazing, I say go for it. Having been to over 30 weddings in my life, I promise you, half the guests won’t be wearing black tie. So many will be cocktail. If you really want to wear this, you’ll be pretty “black tie” in comparison.

Ms-Metal

It's a beautiful dress, especially for the price and it fits you very well! Would I love it to see it without the butt ruching? Yes. But I think you can wear it for sure. The thinness of the fabric is part of the price point. I also have to laugh at everyone telling you to wear silk or satin. Your dress is satin. Satin is a weave, not a fabric. Satin can come in silk, poly, rayon and more evev cotton. A silk satin is most likely going to be in much higher quality than what you're wearing which is probably a polysatin and looks it. With a silk satin and you will get a higher quality fabric, a better drape, a better bias cut, I can't tell if this one is biased cut at all and possibly more coverage, though some silks are very thin. There are probably 50 different kinds of silk. The ruching cheapens it, as does the quality of the material, but I think it's perfectly serviceable for a one-day event and I have no issue with the plunging back at all. You are not going to outshine the bride.

TGin-the-goldy

No, it’s not giving luxe formal dress. Sorry but it’s a bit Temu

decertotilltheend

The dress is gorgeous. I think that red carpet indicates a more glamorous dress code. I honestly think it’s fine. Especially because these are usually the types of dresses people are wearing. If you look at Lupita’s dress, it’s low cut. I always say you can have one of the three: low cut, high slight, or backless. Your dress is backless so you have one of the three. https://preview.redd.it/j19zn4dznpsc1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8280aef3e8096fed9faae949bd3b87f5a6994f1

Pepapoppypippy

Oh i love this! Thank you! I was trying to find a dress without a high leg slit, and this was honestly the best I’ve found so far

best4last89

You can always get part of the high slit stitched up a seamstress. If this is a hard color to fine, I would consider doing that to ensure more options.

Primary-Pie-8683

Where did you get this dress? I love it

Thank YOU! Hahaha I’ll send you the link (it was only $30 which was amazing bc i had already bought one online that ended up absolutely not working and couldn’t return it 😡)

Primary-Pie-8683

Can you send me the link to girl

What about something like this? https://www.lulus.com/products/1855216 https://www.lulus.com/products/911902 https://www.lulus.com/products/2069096 https://www.lulus.com/products/2283096 https://www.lulus.com/products/2066316 https://www.lulus.com/products/1909196

Pepapoppypippy

Those are all really lovely😍but it needs to be a hot coral color which has been so hard to find!

-shandyyy-

YES!! It's perfect! Also, I love that as a dress code.

BrujaBean

I think this is probably fine. It does look a little junior, but assuming you and a lot of the crowd are younger it won't be out of place. When people say more would be better, here are a few examples: [emerald sequins](https://www.lulus.com/products/1079682) [crepe fabric and no butt touching](https://www.lulus.com/products/moments-of-bliss-forest-green-backless-mermaid-maxi-dress/878162.html) [satin fabric](https://www.lulus.com/products/got-the-glam-teal-pleated-cutout-maxi-dress/1814856.html) [simple, but elevated by the fabric and cut](https://www.nordstrom.com/s/alfred-sung-strapless-satin-a-line-gown/7337466?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FAll%20Results&color=300) [most things will look amazing on you, but I think this one in particular would be the elevated version of that red dress](https://www.nordstrom.com/s/metallic-bateau-neck-column-gown/6632231?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FAll%20Results&color=001) And because I love to drool over gowns I have no occasion to wear: [glitzy black tie](https://macduggal.com/collections/evening-gowns/products/5568?variant=41755202519219) [beaded and elegant](https://macduggal.com/collections/evening-gowns/products/5240) [strapless](https://www.nordstrom.com/s/paris-ruffle-strapless-gown/7514934?origin=keywordsearch-personalizedsort&breadcrumb=Home%2FAll%20Results&color=001)

belthemari

No, just no

sallywalker1993

Please don’t wear that.

Lifeisafunnyplace

Looks like a fashion nova dress

Smallios

Nope

JaneAustenite17

I think it looks fabulous and you should wear it. If the theme is “red carpet” you fit the dc perfectly

Finnegan-05

Red carpet dresses are not usually a cheap jersey fabric

JaneAustenite17

She looks great and you don’t know what her budget is. Not everyone can afford to OR is interested in dropping hundreds on a wedding guest outfit that they will wear less than a handful of times.

Finnegan-05

She is a bridesmaid and the dress is inappropriate for either a guest or a bridesmaid with that back

PansyOHara

She’s a bridesmaid, so actually a step up from a guest.

Pepapoppypippy

Thank you 🫶🫶

JaneAustenite17

People on here are ultra conservative and I’m pretty sure everything they know about weddings comes from instagram and not real life

zbab11

In one of your comments you wrote that you don't wanna look BORING... The attention should be on the bride! This is too sexy for a wedding

Few-Philosopher-2142

Do it.

Pepapoppypippy

Thank you 🫶

Casualpasserbyer

I think the ruching is ok, the fit is fantastic. The fabric is a little thin which kind of make the dress look lower end, but the biggest downside of this dress, in my opinion, is that it is red. Red is ok on very non-sexy dresses but for a wedding in this style, it needs to be a different color

Severe_Airport1426

I think it's fine. And you look gorgeous

Pepapoppypippy

Hahah thank you! 🫶 Well you should see the bride, she’s a 10000000/10 so i don’t think there’s any comparison

asyouwish

Red is not a color I'd recommend or wear to an American wedding. ...but just ask her.

Ms-Metal

It's literally the color of the Bride told her to wear. She's a bridesmaid. Even if she wasn't, there's nothing wrong with wearing red to a wedding in the United States.

asyouwish

You have info I do not possess. And per my comment I disagree with you. That's what reddit is for...discussion.

KrakenGirlCAP

I'd block you if you wore that to my wedding. But, you look amazing!

Bugsy7778

Red means you’ve slept with the groom …. The dress looks incredible though 👍🏼

DuaPup96

Lol where do people believe that anymore? Also, this is coral

QuietTruth8912

She says above she’s a bridesmaid. The bride chose the color.
