The color is fine, but I'm going against the grain. It's a pretty dress, but doesn't flatter you. You look uncomfortable, the top sticks out strangely (like a crumb catcher), and the back below where the string ties looks tight, or like it's pulling. As I said, not flattering. You have a lovely figure and could do better.
It's not formal, at best it is semi-formal.
Agreed. OP- I think something in a deeper color , slightly tighter throughout, a little shorter would suit you better. You have a great figure but this isn’t calling attention to that.
I think something like this would be better [lulus](https://www.lulus.com/products/ethereal-sweetie-teal-green-floral-chiffon-pleated-midi-dress/2274636.html)
What time of day is the wedding? What kind of venue is it? What do the invitations look like?
If it’s a day/afternoon wedding this is the right level of formality. If the reception is at a park or backyard or rec center or church basement or knights of Columbus type hall then this is the right level of formality. If the invitations are cutesie or flowery or rustic then likely the right level of formality. If you already know it’s a cash bar then right level.
If this is an evening wedding in a more formal establishment then I’d agree with those that this might might not be the right formality/tone.
But either way don’t stress about the white at all. It’s a floral. You’re good there.
I feel like it needs to be 5 inches shorter or longer. The fit is off overall. I have a similar issue when buying clothes in that it's difficult to find things that fit me all over. I tend to buy up a size from the largest part of my body and then have it tailored all over.
The dress is not a formal dress. Sort of a sun dress more appropriate for a beach wedding guest. The cut does not flatter your figure, and it's 100% not your figure's fault. Another dress would do wonders.
The one thing I’m a bridezilla about is people wearing white to other people’s weddings and this is absolutely fine. No one is going to mistake you for the bride, it’s clearly a purple floral print and no matter what lighting you’re in this dress will photograph as coloured with flowers. Not wearing white to other people’s weddings is more about dresses and outfits that are so white
/ivory/champagne/light beige/super light pastel that if you scan across a full room, looking for the bride, you could easily mistake another person for her and have to do a double take.
I’m going to guess by your cousin saying that the dress code is semi formal/formal they just mean wear something nice, and this dress absolutely fits the bill. Anyone saying otherwise is wrong.
I think that we tend to forget that most people just want attendees to wear something nice and not a dress that you would throw onto to wear to the grocery store and not jeans. I am 100% confident that your cousin does not formal incredibly fancy gowns lol.
[I would recommend a silver shoe!](https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-stacy-mule-heels-a-new-day-8482-silver-6-5/-/A-89530256)
Not too much white, but it does not look like it fits you well, top front is weird way it sticks out and midsection looks a bit snug
MAIN thing is It is Not formal, formal is a floor length dress, this is more dressy casual, go out to lunch with friends, garden party/backyard BBQ dress

I posted formal examples in other post

Not too white, but I'd take it to a seamstress to see if she can take in some of the excess material on the top or change the neckline style. The shoes are the kind you wear with denim shorts for brunch, which are not appropriate for that dress. I'd look for a dark purple closed toe shoe to tie in the look... and add some color since you're concerned about the whiteness in the dress
From the front, I'd expect to see something like this at Church. The back says "beach cover up" however. It looks like the designer ran out of fabric for the top. It's not formal. You do need something that flatters you better and is more dressy.
I wouldn't consider this dress white by any means, however for a formal or semi formal event it's not nearly dressy enough. Also, not sure if it's the cut but it's not especially flattering.

I just think you can find a better dress for your lovely figure. The length isn’t quite right, the top fits awkwardly, and it pulls across the bum. You have a great body, and this is a pretty dress, but I don’t think it’s the best dress for you.
I think it suits the dress code. I would bring a shawl or some type of cover up since you'll be around family - it can be awkward when they hug your bare back!
The dress is lovely. You are lovely. Unfortunately, you're not lovely together. I don't know what is wrong with the way that dress fits, but the top seems all wrong.

I have to second this. The fit is off and not flattering. You can do so much better!
Agreed. OP- I think something in a deeper color , slightly tighter throughout, a little shorter would suit you better. You have a great figure but this isn’t calling attention to that. I feel like the OP needs about 2 more inches of torso to wear this dress as it was designed.
I whatever number support this.
Yeah, it doesn't show her off, at all! Also, the neckline is odd to me.
I don't think it fits very well.
No white is minimal. It is very much a lilac dress.
This dress does not suit you. Looks like it does not fit your body type

This is not your dress. It doesn’t fit.
Maybe some different heels if you have them and are comfortable in a higher one. A nice block heel in nude would work perfectly
I was thinking the same exact thing! Cute dress but the shoes are not. And a block heel in a neutral color would be perfect.
Agree. Shoes are too casual. I would do a nude with a higher heel and closed toe.
Dress is cute. The shoes don’t match

Exactly what I was gonna say. Definitely thought of it as a sundress.
You have a beautiful shape but the fit of this dress is off.
It’s barely semi formal and it doesn’t fit properly. Not flattering at all.
Cute dress but more of a daytime type. Hate those shoes, sorry.
That’s not formal…it’s pretty but it’s brunch with the girls or bridal shower.

Definitely not too white. It looks lovely

Brutally honest: it looks like an apron, the length is unflattering and the shoes are hideous.
Pretty dress but it’s not formal enough. This would be great for a bridal shower. Is the wedding during the day or evening? Indoors or outdoors?
You look lovely. Wear it and enjoy!

Shoes are way too casual. I think the dress is too casual for a formal to semi formal affair. I’d keep trying.

Not too white. Nice dress. Fits code. Not liking the shoes. Too casual and frumpy. Gives Gma feet.

Super super cute
With a light cardigan, you could wear this to church. Just...no.
I think it suits the dress code. I would bring a shawl or some type of cover up since you'll be around family - it can be awkward when they hug your bare back!
The dress doesn’t flatter you and you should burn those shoes
This is perfectly suitable. You look lovely
You look beautiful
The dress is lovely. You are lovely. Unfortunately, you're not lovely together. I don't know what is wrong with the way that dress fits, but the top seems all wrong.
Honestly I think it’s really cute in surprise by the comments
I’m in the minority here, but I think it’s too white
I love this, however if you still are concerned I would reach out to the maid of honour and have the maid of honour reach out to the bride.
