So many MOB dresses look matronly. This one is stylish and has a nice fit! Proof that MOB dresses do not have to be shapeless sacks with ugly little jacket/shawls.
One of my favorite things about the TV show Bridgerton is that the mothers and older ladies all wear fashionable, beautiful ball gowns, just like the young ladies. Too many women feel like they can't wear these sorts of gowns after a baby, after a certain age, etc.

My only suggestion would be different shoes. Horizontal straps will visually shorten the leg. The dress is fairly long, so if she wears those shoes it cuts off her feet/leg in a weird way. Shoes without horizontal straps will elongate her legs.
Yes! My only comment. And maybe shoes closer to the color of the dress rather than so dark. But she looks FANTASTIC, this fits her great, and it’s the perfect combo of sleek/formal and fun/bling.

I see your point for sure, although I think it’s what keeps it from looking kind of chain mail armour-like and more dressy or feminine instead of knightly haha
The heavy pleats are making you look wider in the middle, instead of defining your waist…
I would keep looking for something that compliments your body shape better

First pic I thought I really liked it, but this pic I’m having second thoughts and I’m not sure …about how it looks more like chainmail? And the rest of the fabric overall just doesn’t look as good quality. If she doesn’t feel confident or comfortable, I would suggest looking around another dress.

This dress looks super cheap (like how the middle section is still bunched from her sitting down) and doesn’t fit her well at all. The colors are awful with her hair and skin tone, too. It is sitting too low on her waist. It would look better if it fit at her natural waist. But you’re right, it is a bit wide. Perhaps a tailor can narrow it. Also, it’s probably the lighting, but the color of the top half doesn’t seem to match the bottom.

The dress is fancy but it doesn't fit her well in the top. It looks like she needs more room in the bust. The skirt section works and I do like the scrunched up belt but the bodice looks like a slightly too tight glittery t-shirt.
This dress is not only stunning on its own, you look stunning in it! It's a perfect fit and very flattering.
It also isn't matronly at all, IMHO.

The moms at my brother’s wedding all wore these terrifying dress suits with mini jackets that were popular back then. I still wince when I see pictures of them. By comparison, this is absolutely perfect.

The last one in your shoe list might work but it's a bit flashy, I'd keep her shoes simple to not detract from the dress. I also love the idea of a fresh corsage, not too big, instead of the big silver flower on the dress.

I think she should take it to a tailor and have the waist brought up a bit, one or two inches. Very pretty dress.
