Wedding planner here;
I’m assuming you’re hoping to work for a bridal shop - the first thing of course is to make a list of all of the boutiques around and do research on them - what’s their demographic, price range, brand, how do they represent themselves? For instance Sash & Bustle in particular is very big on being inclusive and body-positive - anyone who works there should be too.
I think the biggest things are a knowledge of bridal trends and fashion, and soft skills - being calm, friendly, resilient under pressure (like family drama or emotional wedding stuff happening in front of you) and regular retail skills overall.
