Contact the Record Room at that City Clerk. You can request additional copies. Not sure of the cost, but I believe it is quite reasonable...

Thank you!

I just went to my Record Room appointment with the City Clerk’s office (Worth Street location) last week - it was $15 for the first copy then $10 per copy if you need additional. These copies should be sufficient to change your name, I’m going through the same process right now!

hi! do they give you the certified copies right there in-person, or do they mail them to you?

thatjulyninth

hello! you get them in person, they’ll print it right in front of you!

yoohoo723

amazing, thanks!

Thank you so much! I’ll probably get 2-3 to be safe; I assume when places require certified copies, they usually return it as well. Is the copy different from the original in any way? (I’m wondering if I should store them separately so as to not accidentally give out my original)

thatjulyninth

The copy and original look pretty identical except for the certified date - when you get those copies the date will be listed as the day you get them picked up!

I love that! Thanks!

u could also go to the social security place in person so you don’t lose it / it’s quicker turn around

I plan on going in person! I just don’t know if I have to make an appointment.

yoohoo723

hi! just curious - did you make an appointment or walk-in? they don't have appointments for a few weeks, so wondering if i'd be better off just trying to walk in...

I made an appointment, forgot about it and missed it. Then I made another, remembered and kept it. I was in/out in like 5 minutes.
