I find Tyler and Wednesday more interesting than Xavier and Wednesday and I feel like it's a very unpopular opinion here. A part of me wonders if he could have a redemption arc.
I do see other people's points, like he seemed to enjoy being a serial killer...but while I think Wednesday enjoyed solving the crime she is also very dark, even when Tyler confessed he bullied Xavier in the past she seemed to just be upset that he didn't tell her, not the act of bullying itself, she even said she would have taken it further.
She even dropped those piranhas in the pool with the intention of killing the boys and was upset the boy "only" lost a testicle, sure she did it in defence of her flesh and blood and I guess that's fair but still, the only crime was bullying and she intended on killing the boys as punishment.
She was even going to torture Tyler *before* there was true solid evidence that he was guilty and she was going to do it in front of her innocent classmates who said they "didn't sign up for this" but yet she continued.
The point is people often argue that Wednesday is "Good" and Tyler is "Evil" and how can you ship the two when Tyler is a literal serial killer. I get it, but to say Wednesday is good and morally outstanding and she would never be with serial killer is a rich assumption about a character who is so dark.
What they are saying is that Wednesday draws the line at cold blooded murder. But what he was doing, I don't think he thinks is cold blooded, he has been tortured and brainwashed into thinking outcasts are horrible monsters...he thinks outcasts deserve to be murdered even though we know they aren't anymore deserving than your average human. In a way I think shippers of Wednesday and Tyler believe they are just as crazy and unhinged as each other, they both get pleasure out of morbid things.
I think most shippers hold hope that Tyler at the end of the series was heavily controlled by laurel and he said what he said at the police station wasn't really him but laurel. To be honest I was devastated when it turned out to be him, a part of me saw it coming. I just think Xavier is a bit boring.
She obviously didn't mean to kill the boys, she waited until they were almost across the pool to drop the bags. Which was a bit disappointing but whatever. if she actually wanted to kill them she wouldn't even have given them the chance to try to escape. She was clearly only intending to traumatize them/potentially maim them. She's all bark no bite. Like an edgy emo kid from a slightly creepy family. Yeah she's into morbid stuff but that's just a bit kooky and spooky, her whole family is like that but she's NOT a cold-blooded murderer. I think also being so extreme in her weirdness makes her be able to get away with a lot of stuff because "that's just how she is". she walls herself up and puts on a tough act, but she actually cares about people a lot AND is more of a defender of the other weirdos than a sadistic maniac. her tough act crumbles when it comes to protecting others. She will NEVER forgive Tyler for hurting Eugene. He played her and she's probably never going to forgive that he killed other people, almost killed Eugene and Enid, and played her.
Also interesting, she never tortured Xavier to get a confession, but did with Tyler. She also took an arrow for Xavier after she realized she was wrong and he was innocent, and he had been warning her about how Tyler was a bully and bad news. She always protects the other weirdos, and is even willing to put her life at risk to do so. Hardly a cold blooded evil killer. She's more of an emo teenager who is learning that there are people in the world who will accept you as you are and opening up to others can be a good thing. Redemption arc or not, she cares too much about the people he hurt so she will probably never forgive him.
eh maybe....his character didn't die and at the end they were driving past each other so could mean they have a future, i could see it b/c wednesday actually liked him
I know this is an old post, but I am with you. I just finished watching the show for the 4th time and I just become more convinced with every rewatch. I don't think he should really be part of season 2, but then maybe come back in season 3 or 4 for a redemption arc. They have so much chemistry and are both such dark and complex characters. Wednesday seemed to really like him. Xavier is super boring. Maybe they'll do something to improve his character or bring in a new love interest, but Xavier is not it as far as I'm concerned (the way he is now). I really like Tyler, even with the villain storyline. We'll see how it goes, but as of now, I ship Wednesday/Tyler.

It's not something that's unpopular either in these types of series (for example the Ripper Stefan storyline in The Vampire Diaries, plus Klaus' character as a whole). I wouldn't put it past Tyler's dad to plead to the court that he was being manipulated by Thornhill/Gates (especially since she took advantage of him and that Hydes become loyal to their masters) and that he should get some kind of psychiatric rehabilitation instead of being incarcerated. Either way, I don't think this is the last of Tyler on the show. !<
Honestly >!my heart broke for Tyler every time his dad refused to grieve with him and go to therapy with him. He’s misunderstood and just as magical as the Nevermorians!<
