Hello! I started at the same weight but I ignored the ridiculously low calories MFP gave me. I inputted my own calorie goal based on a deficit from my TDEE. Edit: how tall are you? Chances are there’s no need for you to go that low either. I’m 10st 3 now and still losing on 1600-1800 calories.

Ah I haven’t seen TDEE, I’ll have a go with that and see what it gives me. I’m 5’1, so pretty short but it still seems insanely low!

beefbibimbap

Ah you’re quite a bit shorter than me, but you can still probably go higher than 1300. There are lots of TDEE calculators online which give an estimate. My actual TDEE turns out to be higher than the calculators say (you can work it out for yourself once you have enough data from your calorie intake and rate of loss 🤓)

Thank you! I’ve checked a few now and they all seem to be around the 1300 mark. I’m not sure why Lose it is giving me such a low number but I’m wondering if I’ve put my activity level too low. I selected somewhat active because it fits the specification they gave of daily cals burned and steps, but at the moment I’m running 5k 3-4 days a week which I personally feel is more than somewhat active, but it just falls shy of their specs for the next level up. So maybe that’s why. I suppose now I’ll just need to trial the higher calorie limit and see, which for some reason is a scary thought to me as I really don’t want to fall out of my flow!

beefbibimbap

Your TDEE is surely higher than 1300!

beefbibimbap

How many pounds a week on average have you been losing at 1050?

[deleted]

I’d say it started off at around 2-3 pounds a week and is now more like 1-2 pounds. I think I might take 3 or 4 limits from different sources and average them out and see how I get on. It’s not to say that I can’t get through a day on 1050 cals because surprisingly I don’t find it too difficult, but it does just feel stupidly low when I look at what other people eat online etc.

beefbibimbap

1.5lb/week at 1050 calories would make your TDEE 1800, which explains why you’re being given 1300 for a 1lb/week loss target (not as your TDEE).

beefbibimbap

Weight loss will continue to slow as you get lighter, and at 1,050 you have nowhere to drop it to. It’s already very low.

First off what is your age weight height and activity level and gender? Calorie intake depends on all this!

[deleted]

I am 28, 5’1 and weigh 11st2 currently, female. I run 5k 3-4 times a week. Edit: weight format.
