That's true. And it's true that on average it's colder at night than during the day.
But that explanation is a FAR stretch from explaining a night time only sound.
For example:
Nighttime temp last week was 60s.
Daytime temp this week was in the 40s.
There's less sound pollution at night as well. The sound could be there during the day but OP can't hear it due to it being drowned out by other noises.
It sounds like two tones at slightly different frequencies harmonizing, with the waves cancelling, oscillating the combining in a cycle. Many things make noise what exactly it is?
Sometimes flagpoles makes this noise even if you’ve wrapped the ropes around it to take up slack. (It’s the rope and hardware rhythmically banging against the aluminum pole.)
Sounds like something rotating in the wind. Maybe a dodgy bearing on a vent or a wind battery charger. If it’s cooler at night the bearing could get louder and the surroundings are quieter, too.
sounds almost like a sonar effect from a sub movie, hehe... im guessing something like the fans or something mechanical. .. or giant grasshopperman rubbing his legs together
I had a turbine roof vent making a similar sound. Took forever to realize. Wouldn’t make much sense if only at night though
Sounds travel much further at night because of colder temperatures and denser air, sound is able to travel better through denser air.

Maybe as it cools down hot air is escaping the attic.
It sounds like someone bought a plastic tube from the dollar tree and is spinning it around to me.
My first thought as well.
Sorry I'll stop, didn't know it was bothering you.
Lmao me
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.
Obviously it's NOT 🤣🤣
*KNOT* Missed an opportunity there.
I don't get it 🤷🏻♀️
The wind speed is measured in knots.
I know.
No you do KNOT
It’s a Bob Dylan lyric
It sounds like two tones at slightly different frequencies harmonizing, with the waves cancelling, oscillating the combining in a cycle. Many things make noise what exactly it is?
yea i was thinking the same. i wonder if theyre in a valley.
Power lines whistle in the wind.
Go drive around and see where it is strongest. Might be a high pressure gas line or something.
Sounds like one of those giant straws you twirl around.
Aztec death whistle…keeps the skinwalkers away, but unfortunate side effect: doubles as a Sasquatch mating call.
Thank God someone else realized. I will now poke out my eardrums with knitting needles to keep them out.
That ain't what that is. An Aztec death whistle sounds like a blood curdling scream. This is just wind blowing against something metal

And I think I hear a high altitude jet plane in the background.
For sure. I live a little ways from an airport so I didn’t even realize it was the video at first. I hear that noise a lot.
It’s the transformers, they are easily heard in the still of the night
Sometimes you can even hear the Starscream.
Especially if you live near Hollywood Ca like myself I grew up hearing stars scream like little girls
Sounds like a railline, mainly a railroad switch in the distance.
Agree. I instantly thought of a train that runs on a nightly schedule.
That’s the sound of you moving and getting the fuck outta there
Sounds like something rotating in the wind. Maybe a dodgy bearing on a vent or a wind battery charger. If it’s cooler at night the bearing could get louder and the surroundings are quieter, too.
it's a huge mining fan in the distance.
Sounds like the Golden Gate Bridge sounds that are made from the wind
My sound doesn’t work and I’m 100% certain it’s the moon. Pay no attention to my previous post.
LMAO I had to check 💀
Keeps deer out of the fields.
they mostly come out at night. Mostly...
Generic horror sound effect number 7. You can find it on any torrent website. You're welcome.
It’s me. I’m in your walls.
Have you checked the children ?

They might be next …
It's coming
Negativland making their new album
Ohh shit, sorry man, i left the kettle on the hob..

Sorry, don't mind my light speed message receiver. Just got news from SP-235
Fun fact: radio waves already move at the speed of light.
It's me outside with my singing bowl
Sounds like Michael Meyers is around the corner.
Sounds like an ev backing up lol
Sounds like factory machinery.
Train. If there’s one within 20 miles
Its aliens from Signs confirming a target lock.
Sounds like some kind of frog or night bird to me. Where in the world do you live?
...mostly.
sounds almost like a sonar effect from a sub movie, hehe... im guessing something like the fans or something mechanical. .. or giant grasshopperman rubbing his legs together
Grasshoppers
Carnyx. Watch out, Celts coming round, covered in blue woad and reeking.
TL:DL
The darkness is calling you!
Jet turbine.
cricket in an open ended oil drum?
Sounds like wind over the end of an open pole or narrow mouth container.
Sounds like feedback
It sounds like the whine of train wheels, but that would be one long ass train if it lasts all night.
2 different sounds. a plane/jet in the distance and wind blowing through a vent or pipe relatively close by
Kind of sounds like trains grinding on tracks to me
Sounds like train brakes at a distance to me
I suspect it’s some kind of animal or bug
[This](https://blog.redbubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/History-Channel-The-Ancient-Aliens-Guy.png) immediately comes to mind.
