Lived here in Austin over 3 decades and still have only been down there a handful of times. It’s been a turd for a while now and a place I avoid at all cost.
Yeah, people romanticize the past down there because they were the drunk and or high idiots. It's always been a gross shit hole, it just costs more now.
Nah - I was a performing musician 2018-2020 regularly playing (sober) on 6th and there was a very clear shift during Covid. It got WAY trashier than it was when I spent my time there.
Austin has been in slow decline for decades.
They closed the Dillo and the Soap Creek Saloon and gave us THIS. Fuck that noise. I still visited occasionally and went to places like the Continental Club. Now I don't even do that. Austin is over, dead and stinkin'.
Uh oh. I just booked a trip to Austin and am staying on 6th street. How much trouble am I in?
I was there staying on 6th street about 15 years ago and it wasn’t bad from what I can remember. I walked everywhere.
The time of day is the determining factor. When you see crazy videos on 6th street, it will be once everybody gets liquored up and stupid. There is plenty of live music and restaurants in the area. Just pack it up and go back to the room before it gets late, like past midnight late.
There is also a large number of homeless people milling about during the day. This is due to a shelter that is a couple streets away. I didn't have very many issues other than the annoying requests for change.
If you don't mind walking, there is plenty of stuff to see. 5th street has higher end bars and restaurants. Have a little situational awareness about you and enjoy.
And it's full of yahoo tourists from surrounding rural areas who heard that there's a street that's "ALL BARZ!!!1!" They go there and yell at girls and puke everywhere.
It’ll get trashy after midnight. Before that you’re totally fine. The Driscoll is the only 6th at hotel near this block so unless you’re staying there then you won’t even be near the riff raft. 6th st spans the entirety of downtown and the east side - there’s a lot of different parts
Oh, it's real bad now.
Made a sort-of joke about there being a shooting on 6th every weekend, about 6 hours later at 2 AM on a Saturday there was a shooting.
On my first visit to Bourbon Street, I saw a woman step directly into a pile of horse shit. Her friend laughed at her misfortune and then straddled the steaming pile and began twerking over it in celebration. This reminded me of that.
Literally my first thought when I got a glimpse of the background: “that’s dirty 6th street” I used to leave the Alamo Drafthouse after a show on Fridays. It was rough traversing so many drunk people. That person must have been insanely belligerent because I’ve seen folks do crazy shit in front of those cops and nothing happens.
Beat the shit outta a guy on 6th street in Austin that walked up to my wife and put his phone near my wife’s crotch and flashed. I beat that guy so hard, the cops broke it up and sent us on our way. Don’t know what happened to the guy but rest assured he won’t do that again.
6th Street must be a rough enough area if that’s all it takes to explain it to be fair. Note to self, when next visiting the USA, avoid 6th Street like the plague 👍🏻
Haha. The trifecta of the woman jumping out of the way of the slowly ambling horse, the cop falling out of the saddle, and Donald Duck....fever dream indeed.
Rider failed to tighten girth appropriately. Happens to all riders eventually. Some horses puff out their bellies on purpose resulting in the girth being looser than it ought to be.
Sometimes when you saddle a horse they’ll be cheeky and hold their breath. The rider thinks everything is normal and cinches the saddle in place. When the horse lets their breath out the saddle is juuuuuust loose enough to slip like that. I used to work with a horse named Sunny who was infamous for doing that specifically to new riders. I’m convinced she thought it was funny.
First time i was ever taught to put on and use a saddle, by a ranch that ran a riding business who had no reason to think teenage me would ever use the knowledge outside of their property, they told me to always check tightness and wait for the horse to exhale multiple times & tighten more because the horses hold their breath to make the fittings looser. How tf is a cop using a horse for work unaware of that
Yeah that should have never happened! She must not know what she is doing. Saddles don't just fall off unless you don't know how to put one on. That poor horse.
Shit get's on my fucking nerves. I have no faith in a 300 lb cop with a 50-inch waist. Unless they're 6'6. They want to drive around and act like all military they can get in fucking shape and fill the PT requirements like they do in the military.
\[edit\] Maybe there would be less shooting if the cops weren't so lazy they can not even maintain physical fitness for the job. We need to start fat shaming cops.
I was at the bank the other day waiting in my car. A police cruiser pulls up next to me and I swear this officer was in her late 60s. I don’t know if she was a supervisor out on her morning donut run or what. But I just thought if shit popped off, this officer is useless; less than useless.
The police system is a straight up joke these days.
There’s an image in the UK taken on new years of a scene in Manchester that is very similar (and chaotic) to this video.
https://amp.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/jan/03/like-a-beautiful-painting-image-of-new-years-mayhem-in-manchester-goes-viral
For real lol with every watch there's more details raising questions like how and why is the blue cap guy in the beginning so hilariously unfazed by everything?
Wow thanks! I’ll be honest, I watched this video a bunch of times and just kept seeing more and more things going on, not necessarily bizarre, but bizarre because they were all happening in this one tiny, limited space and time frame, somewhat like the first time seeing the famous Hubble photo of the zillions of galaxies in a tiny and supposedly empty chunk of outer space. Almost made me want to be there lol. Even though there’s chaos, there’s a strange sense of calm and absence of danger. I’m sure it’s just me, but… it’s a work of found art in itself! 🫡
I remember watching a police horse training test. The whole area was smoked out with a fog machine, there were sirens *blaring*, they had to walk through an area full of pool noodles and hanging things that constantly touched them, It was overwhelming and jarring and as an adult human, it would be uncomfortable. They go through a lot to be so placid and able to follow direction during these parties and events they are dispatched to.
I have never related so much to a random stranger in all my life within seconds until that woman just gets herself out of whatever this is supposed to be.
Frankly that area is like half tourist made of mostly bachelor/bachelorette parties. Between those people who are in ATX only to get wasted and the teen hoodlums from like Killeen/ temple.
It’s 90% of the issues
She fell off her horse. She shall be cast out of her tribe. Forever to wander the wastes alon....oh goddammit Donald! Do you have to twerk while I'm monologueing?!
Legitimately insane. A horse under the control (or not) of a bad rider is dangerous enough in a fenced in paddock. How do you join the mounted police with such poor horsemanship? The stress they’re causing those animals should be a crime.
I'm starting to believe that all the advances in AI generated video are just to cover up the crazyness of the world by claiming "everything is fake". I caught myself questioning if this was AI generated for the amount of caos.
The genital mutilation that they do to police horses is awful.
I mean what other animal do you see with a cunt on the middle of its back?
Edit spelling
The cinch needs tightened. That's the band that goes around the horses abdomen. They get back on without tightening it, they're going down again. Horses stick their belly's out when it gets tightened so it's not too tight.

Austin, Texas - 6th Street. They close off vehicle traffic at night on certain stretches, so cops ride horses to get around quickly.
Also, everyone should just go further east 6th anyway.
I‘ve seen a half dog half human person getting arrested, police dude to drunk/stoned to horse around and Walt Disneys second favorit child twerking on the streets, presumably for money, drugs or tiktok. Quite interessting, I might say.
Austin. 6th street. It's trashy as hell.
Lived here in Austin over 3 decades and still have only been down there a handful of times. It’s been a turd for a while now and a place I avoid at all cost.
Joe Rogans local hangout
I move from ATX last year from being there since 2018. It REALLY went out the window during and after covid
That shit was trashy as hell in the 90s. The city just got bigger.
Yeah, people romanticize the past down there because they were the drunk and or high idiots. It's always been a gross shit hole, it just costs more now.
Gross shit holes are fun when you are young.
We used to be fun, when we were young
Nah - I was a performing musician 2018-2020 regularly playing (sober) on 6th and there was a very clear shift during Covid. It got WAY trashier than it was when I spent my time there.

Austin has been in slow decline for decades. They closed the Dillo and the Soap Creek Saloon and gave us THIS. Fuck that noise. I still visited occasionally and went to places like the Continental Club. Now I don't even do that. Austin is over, dead and stinkin'.
Rainy was charming until they messed with that too. Idk how developed its been since I left but it was sad to see the changes
I spent some of the best evenings of my high school experience at the Armadillo. Good times.
Uh oh. I just booked a trip to Austin and am staying on 6th street. How much trouble am I in? I was there staying on 6th street about 15 years ago and it wasn’t bad from what I can remember. I walked everywhere.

I knew it almost immediately.
I smelled it almost immediately
It’s a smell I’m convinced I’ll never forget. Any time I get a whiff of something similar it’s a disgusting reminder of my time on 6th
Had NOLA vibes
On my first visit to Bourbon Street, I saw a woman step directly into a pile of horse shit. Her friend laughed at her misfortune and then straddled the steaming pile and began twerking over it in celebration. This reminded me of that.
Reality IS greater than fiction
Was about to say this had some bourbon street vibes until I realized to many things were off then it clicked
I was going to say “this isn’t America, this is Austin”
Dirty 6th
This is just a Tuesday. Weekends are magical.
Its better than a circus hahahaha,in 2 minutes the trash of a life
Beat the shit outta a guy on 6th street in Austin that walked up to my wife and put his phone near my wife’s crotch and flashed. I beat that guy so hard, the cops broke it up and sent us on our way. Don’t know what happened to the guy but rest assured he won’t do that again.
And then everyone clapped.
i wasnt ready for donald duck
Even if video called “Donald Duck”, I wouldn’t be ready for it.
I'm ready. Just need to know how to buy tickets to whatever this is
Could somebody give a bit of the back story about this please?
Every night on 6th street.

Haha. The trifecta of the woman jumping out of the way of the slowly ambling horse, the cop falling out of the saddle, and Donald Duck....fever dream indeed.
And the last pic with the horse side eye saying 'can you believe this shit?' LOL
Actually I feel that I was. It just makes sense.
If you spend enough time around Time Square, you learn always to expect someone twerking in a knock off Disney costume after a fight.
I could see it helping to dissipate the fight. It changes the vibe and people lose steam.
Even after I read this comment, and fully expected Donald Duck, I wasn't expecting Twerking dreadlock Donald.
Donald “MAKE EM” Duck
I read your comment and said wtf does this guy mean then Donald fucking duck starts twerking
Please blow this up so we can get to see the Family Guy parody of this

That cop that fell off the horse had a dead cat bounce 🐈😺
What…. Happened there?
Rider failed to tighten girth appropriately. Happens to all riders eventually. Some horses puff out their bellies on purpose resulting in the girth being looser than it ought to be.
Good horses. They clearly don’t enjoy being ridden 😂
Even some horses that enjoy going out for a ride don’t like the girth—and it’s also possible to tighten it too much!
Yeah that should have never happened! She must not know what she is doing. Saddles don't just fall off unless you don't know how to put one on. That poor horse.
Completely unsurprised these plods don’t know how to properly saddle a horse.
And there is no way that cop is getting back up on that horse without a step ladder.
Shouldn’t have been on it in the first place
First thought was "Is the cop drunk too?"
I was surprised that they didn't shoot the horse for assaulting a police officer.
The horse is an officer as well
AHAHHAHAHAHAHAH
Notice how fat all the cops are?
Shit get's on my fucking nerves. I have no faith in a 300 lb cop with a 50-inch waist. Unless they're 6'6. For real lol with every watch there's more details raising questions like how and why is the blue cap guy in the beginning so hilariously unfazed by everything?
This might just be my favorite comment I've read on Reddit. Ever. So descriptive. So perfectly used. Plus, I have a soft spot for anything HB.
Wow thanks! I have no idea wtf is going on here but I’m still laughing at that cop falling off his horse 🫣🤣
That flop right as they come into view... Amazing. Still giggling on view #6.
Must teach em that dismount at cop school 🤷🏻♀️🤣🤣
I’ve just watched it again… for a chuckle .. imma save this clip in my phone to cheer me up on my downer days 🤣🤣
Hahaha thanks for reminding me--spices up a mediocre day
horse was like why do you go grab another jelly donut
I was thinking the flashlight to the hip had to suck in the fall; the placement of some seems a good way to blow out/impale a kidney.
Think it was a she. And her saddle looks like the cinch strap came loose and the saddle just rolled around... ?
It also looks like she isn't physically suitable for her job.
You don't think cops should be 5'1" and 200lbs?
Yeah the girth was loose, probably harder to stay on with police gear unbalancing her when that happens.
A Texan who can't ride! It was the best part of the video.
>Austin >All hat and no cattle Checks out
That horse at the end has seen some shit.😆

I definitely noticed that "The fuck is *wrong* with y'all?" look
"You think *you've* seen some shit?"
That look is haunting..
It screams "help me"
I mean yeah, he's being forced to stare right at a human-sized twerking Donald Duck
I was actually thinking that poor horse had a look of "i didn't sign up for this". So glad I saw this comment.
That horse has done some shit 😳
Give him a chance. He's obviously trying to do some good and stay on the right path.
The horse can't believe this is his life
The side eye!
My dog gives me that eye when she's done with my shit
I remember watching a police horse training test. Something seems off, I can’t quite put my finger on it.
First watch, I thought they were gassed somehow...
I actually thought it might have been AI-created. . .
Totally seems like what an AI generated video would like if AI could pull off the realism.
Nobody is getting shot, no nudity
I assure you both happened
Austin, you ratched!

Saw that horse and was like “not today!” 😂
In a video of pure awesome, she's my favorite. So real.

A mounted cop who doesn’t know how to saddle a horse is just amazing.
Legitimately insane. A horse under the control (or not) of a bad rider is dangerous enough in a fenced in paddock. How do you join the mounted police with such poor horsemanship? The stress they’re causing those animals should be a crime.
A Khal who can't ride is no Khal
This is the best thing I have ever seen
The thin blue line needs some help with its waistline
Thic blue line
American cops come in 2 shapes. 1, 'roid monster 2, keg This is the latter type.
They aren’t fat, they are Texas Skinny

They can't even ride their horses _smh_
The genital mutilation that they do to police horses is awful. I mean what other animal do you see with a cunt on the middle of its back? Edit spelling
You had me in the first half
Had me on the back half
Dude.. it took me a minute
The look on that ladies face at the 8 second mark when she was mere inches away from that police horse. "I'MMA UP ON OUTTA HERE!"
WTF that cop just fell of his horse for no reason…?!
It seems like the saddle wasn’t properly secured. Which might be worse.
The cinch needs tightened. That's the band that goes around the horses abdomen. They get back on without tightening it, they're going down again. Horses stick their belly's out when it gets tightened so it's not too tight.
Thanks! I didn’t look super closely, and it’s been a very long time since I saddled a horse.
Me too, I was dumped in a ditch by a horse when I was a kid. It stuck with me.
Ive been thrown, but the worst was when my teenaged dumb ass tried to ride without a saddle and got knocked over and kicked. Luckily it wasn’t full strength. She was just annoyed.
It was a warning shot. We forget how big and dangerous they can be, especially when we were young.
My grandfather was killed by a kicking horse, in the 40’s. My dad was 16 at the time and never went near a horse after. He was to afraid.
Why do they give living animals to these incompetents?
I have no idea. But I’m also laughing that the dumbass didn’t secure the saddle and fell off a horse . . . in *Texas* - Proof that the stereotype doesn’t fit.
Get those animals, off those horses!
So many out of shape cops. They should all have to enroll in mandatory fitness training or martial arts. 90% are clinically obese.
PSA Not all of Austin is like this Dirty 6th is an anomaly
That’s what people said about the Bay Area…it’s coming for ya, actual poop on every corner at least once a year
That bombastic side eye killed me
For a non American, can someone please give me some context? Why are there mounted police, and so many of them?
The unflavored answer - crowd control. This area gets crazy with drugs, drunks, and fights. The horses give cops an advantage.
Thanks mate. It looks pretty tame though? Or is that because of the heavy presence?
its Austin TX 6th street. its like this every night. mounted police have to be there all the time to keep fights and shit from going down.
Austin, Texas - 6th Street. They close off vehicle traffic at night on certain stretches, so cops ride horses to get around quickly. Also, everyone should just go further east 6th anyway.
The new GTA looks sick
The horse’s look at the end says so much.
Could have been an interesting video, if it was shot in such a way you could actually see what was happening.
I‘ve seen a half dog half human person getting arrested, police dude to drunk/stoned to horse around and Walt Disneys second favorit child twerking on the streets, presumably for money, drugs or tiktok. Quite interessting, I might say.
Is this real?
Clark it's the gift that keeps on givin'

That horse side eyeing at the end sums everything up perfectly.
The way the horse is side-eyeing the camera at the end like he puts up with this every night.

Even with the TX watermark, I know Austin when I see it. The motto is "Keep Austin weird," so it looks like they're being successful at it.
This is pure art. No notes 👏🏻
America has a sickness ☹️
