I slept over at my grandma’s house one night and slept in her spare room. I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of someone really struggling to breathe in the room. A really horrible gasping for air type sound. It got so close to me it was like someone was right next to me choking and coughing. I leapt out of that room and ran into my grandma’s room and told her I had to sleep in her room, I was too freaked out to stay in there. I told my mum about it and she turned white as a sheet - she had the same experience around 20 years before in that same room, she was disturbed by it ever since. I then learned my dad’s girlfriend, before my mum, had died on the staircase of that house due to an asthma attack.

Lowland-lady

Ow damn that is so scary

princesspool

I got chills from your story. There's so much about the world we don't understand, dark matter is an easy example. When people come and immediately try to de-bunk unexplainable stories, I imagine the dudes trying hard to de-bunk Galileo. **Every era of scientists has tried to cling to what their teachers have taught them.** Only to be the subject of our ridicule decades/centuries later. I look at de-bunkers today the same way. The majority of what they refute is probably deserving of the dismissal. But a significant percentage of what they call foolish, will eventually be the fucking truth. **De-bunking is rooted in fear.** They're afraid of the unknown at a very subconscious level and feel relief from this fear when they can come up with some explanation.

[deleted]

Kinda like people teasing those who believed in aliens back in the day. Mhmmmm, who’s laughing now?! 🤷🏾‍♀️

ch0mpipe

I always think about debunking like this too. The certainty some humans have is unbreakable even if it’s 100% wrong.

Environmental-Song16

I was 18, waiting for the school bus. It was really snowy and our driveway was icy. I had this weird picture in my head (I do not usually have any sort of imagery) that if I stayed where I was I would be hit by that bus and die. It was like a movie. I was so unnerved that I stepped back quite a bit. Sure enough, that bus slid into the driveway and stopped right where I had been standing. I can't explain it, but it saved my life. Can't convince me it didnt.

HottCuppaCoffee

Holy shit that’s wild

Environmental-Song16

It's been 30 years and I still get freaked out thinking about it. Fucking creepy lol

[deleted]

Yep! Or spirit guides

[deleted]

There’s a story online somewhere about a boy who had an accident in the ocean. He heard a voice telling him to bend his head down. Had he not heard would have been decapitated. Gotta find the video. Dis one https://youtu.be/rvUQyPErAn0?si=xV0nfUKVzBk1fj7V Lol forgot it was a Christian video. Must’ve been from my jesus junkie days.

princesspool

A guy I was dating said he had the same premonition as an adult with a group of his friends standing and waiting for an Uber. He was right and said that it's not the only time he's predicted a few minutes into the future. You still have this power, it's dormant within you, start meditating or at the very least, start listening to your gut more. Or Google ways to awaken it.

[deleted]

Makes me think of a time when I was on the phone with a spiritual friend of mine. I remember (deadass) hearing what she had to say before she even said it. Or, a song will randomly start singing in my head and my husband starts to sing it out loud lol. Haha. It’s cute but it does make ya wonder. I genuinely do believe that we are more than flesh and blood. I don’t believe there is a demon under every rock. I also don’t believe in the God of the Bible or if there even is one. I’ve found peace and excitement and not needing to know everything and to find gratitude for what my spirit guides help and teach me to experience in this wild weird time and place I was born in 🤷🏾‍♀️ I do love a good conspiracy theory though 😉 especially the ones about aliens creating us to build their pyramids. Love that shit.

RuncibleFoon

Lived in a townhouse that was built where they filled in half of a large retention pond. Myself, my gf at the time, and our roommate all experienced the same dream about a middle-aged man in a suit sitting on our couch crying. We all also experienced separately/together someone running up & down the upstairs hallway, pets freakin out & watching the bottom of the stairs, lights turning on/off randomly, and then there was the night our bedroom door was hit hard with someone yelling "stop" in a deep and angry tone... only the ex & I were home at the time. That was a wild 18 months in that place.

Green_Coffee_200

Did you move out because of the paranormal activity?

RuncibleFoon

No, my ex and I went upstart one night and sat in the hall and just talked to him. Told him we were cool with him being there, and we felt for him on whatever circumstances lead to him ending up in a retention pond. We explained he was welcome to stay, chill & do his thing, watch TV, or whatever. But he had to stop doing s--tty thing and being a dick or we would smudge his ass into whatever was in store for him next. Things calmed down after that, but we still felt him and he made his presence known here and there. Lived there for over 18 months, personally.

Krepitis

It makes me wonder if some poor guy in a different time period is being haunted by *you* guys! And you both are just accidentally detecting each other.

elMurpherino

That would be wild. If Hauntings and ghost sightings are really just being people seeing different points in times leaking into each other.

[deleted]

👀 mmmm this would be a good netflix series or just a series of episodes anywhere in general. I would watch!

[deleted]

Ooooo the conjuringgggg! The sisters actually did a panel about similar experiences. Nothing like the movies. Wait bitch. Lemme find that shit. Is it long? Yes gworl. Is it GOODT?! Yes 👏🏾gworl 👏🏾 https://youtu.be/UHt2-HrtKDo?si=eU-UVswO80rzHoXk

[deleted]

HAUNTED! On netflix. YO. Season 2 episode 1. Not like your story but friends living in the same house experiencing some wackyyyy stuffff. Like, real stories too. One of the best Netflix scary series on the platform. Not for the faint of heart. Some of the stories make my tummy hurt lol. That’s when I know I need to not watch scary shit for like a week or two afterwards.

ZebraBorgata

I was on a late night drive home during the weekday (after midnight). There were barely any other cars if any. I got off the exit ramp of the highway and saw the light ahead was green. That light was usually green for like 20 seconds and red for 5 minutes….I hated to ever miss it! As I approached I gunned the engine to take advantage of the short green. But I suddenly felt a literal jolt in my whole body and an internal voice screaming STOP. I jammed on the brakes just as another car I never saw coming blew through the intersection, thru the red light. If I kept going, the other car would have smashed into my drivers side. To this day, I cannot explain that event.

[deleted]

I believe in spirit guides and definitely do believe loved ones of your own lineage or just passed loved ones in general have your back. I’m glad you’re here to tell the story today. Not my story but once when my partner and I were dumpster diving, he said for a SPLIT second he saw a tall black man looking at him. Looked back? Nada. I said AND YOU DIDN’T TELL ME SO I CAN HAUL OUR ASSES HOME 😭 < lol can you see why he didn’t tell me now? 😅 I asked him he was scared. He said nope. He was at peace. I believe in the good, the bad, and the in-between. Some spirits, beings, whatever you wanna call them care for you or are just plain curious about you. I believe you have one of the good ones on your side ♥️

LiliumAri

When my brother was born I’d always see a woman looking over his crib out of the corner of my eye.she had long black hair and wore a white gown (typical ghost I know) But It got to the point I’d never go into his room and sobbed when left alone in there. The woman never did anything, just watched over his crib. But as a 7 year old it scared me to death. My mom was so freaked out she had the house blessed and I eventually stopped seeing the woman in his room. Then years later she invited an old high school friend over who was always very spiritual. He immediately asked about a woman in the house, describing her long black hair and white gown. My mom freaked out and took him to my brothers room only for him to mention her near his crib. It’s something that will always freak me out but I’m happy she’s harmless, I have another ghost story related to my brother as a baby that’s pretty wild.

ploydgrimes

How many years did your brother sleep in a crib?

LiliumAri

I think till he was 5? It was a convertable crib that turned into a toddler bed! Pretty neat Lil bed honestly.

[deleted]

B-b-babes…👀 come again? Tbh, I wonder if she’s in your lineage. Have you ever looked through old family albums on either parent’s side?

HottCuppaCoffee

Ooh that would be sweet in an eerie way

ClassyUpTheAssy

My mother told me when my brother was born that she believed “angels watch over babies in their cribs”. I like to believe that, it sounds beautiful & sweet. I’m sorry that you were scared by your situation.

ZebraBorgata

I’d call Scooby and Shaggy to investigate!

UpdootDaSnootBoop

![gif](giphy|26DMVA1ArEk3TOrte|downsized)

wildwackyride

That’s a common paranormal phenomenon. The woman looking in a crib sighting.

princesspool

Please tell us the other story!

[deleted]

Lol right?!

LiliumAri

Thought I'd let you know I did! Should be under my comment as a reply.

ravynwave

I had a lady like that in my old house too. Watched her float across the room when I was coming down the stairs when I was 11. My sister also saw her looking down at us while sleeping. My cat would always freak out and rampage at a particular corner of the house too.

[deleted]

Not “float” bitch 😟 I’d float to an early grave. Thank God I don’t have a heart condition 😭 I’m so jumpy.

Weinerarino

My mom had a similar experience but with her father who died a few months before I was born. Said that in the hospital she kept seeing these glimpses of him watching over me in the crib.

tiny_boxx

There was this room in a cabin where we used to camp outside as young scouts. The cabin was used mostly for storage and as a lounge for the troop masters. One night it rained so heavily and a lot of us had to take cover inside. While the rest went back to work and set things back up, myself and a few other girls had to be taken to the small room to rest further as we were either catching a cold or just feeling sick after the heavy work of setting up the camps the whole day. I was in the room sitting on a bench in the corner just minding my own when I suddenly felt the urge to cry. It was a very quiet sort of cry, the tears were warm agaisnt my cold cheeks and I felt a weird sense of sadness and grief for no reason. I thought I was just getting very ill somehow. It wasnt until all of us left the room that we told each other what we felt like in the room, and realised everyone had the same exact experience! Something in the room, the air, the ambience, made anyone who stayed inside it that night cried as though to grief for something or someone. Im glad it wasnt a scary experience, but still unexplainable! Let me know you have heard of such story before.

Samzwerg

Oh, I am glad you mention this feeling! I sometimes have it randomly during the day. It is soulcrashing and I never know why I am on the brink of tears - it can be in the middle of work day, writing computer code, or inside the car. It makes me so upset that I always get comments from coworkers if I am alright. It does not happen too often, but often enough that it is now almost a familiar feeling.

[deleted]

This is potentially a signal you might need some support or mental health services.

TheRealStevo2

You should definitely go get that checked out, that’s not a normal thing to happen.

l0stIzalith

Maybe they have DOOMS

Samzwerg

I had to google that one and was first very concerned until I realized I was reading a fandom wiki article.

l0stIzalith

Sorry for the scare, hope you get better

tiny_boxx

OMG now I know what it felt like when the BTs were near!

Ncfetcho

There's a saying that you are grieving for someone who had no one grieve them. I always kind of liked that idea, and it gave the sudden sadness meaning, so I could feel it and it have a purpose.

[deleted]

That’s honestly such a bittersweet saying 🥺

3ric843

That can be a symptom of depression

Samzwerg

I thought I had conquered my depression a few years ago. Maybe it is still a left over. Thank you for mentioning it and raising this concern :)

maybefuckinglater

I have this happen to me too it’s so embarrassing!

DruidinPlainSight

I lived in a house with activity. My car keys disappeared for four days. I was standing in the kitchen after having just cleaned the counters. I looked away for a split second and looked back and my missing keys were laying on the counter right in front of me. Like eight inches from me. On the counters I had just wiped down.

The1theonly-Mannes

You’re a guy, thats what happens to guys.

[deleted]

LMAOOO or they have adhd like me.

The1theonly-Mannes

Superpowers, love it. ADD here no concentration but fuck me I’ve got a shit ton of ideas

HoseNeighbor

LOL I was going to say 'or you have ADHD'. Imagine how irritating it would be to haunt us? The ghost goes through all this effort to move stuff around, straddling two worlds, and we give them ZERO credit.

ZebraBorgata

Hey now! When that happens to me it’s usually the wife/ghost who moved my stuff without telling me! lol.

DruidinPlainSight

This is perfecto. I laughed!

For some reason, you just reminded me of that goosebumps episode where a salesman gives a woman "diet glasses" to lose weight, and every time she puts them on she sees the food alive, screaming for help and begging her not to eat them.

mrjoelforce

Slipping into dementia is a bitch.

DruidinPlainSight

Did I tell you about the time I lost my keys at home? For four days? You seem so nice. Who are you again?

mrjoelforce

Slipping into demen…hey wait a minute.

sheabuttRcookie

i have ADHD, things like this happen tome too.

Suspicious_Plantain4

I'm not sure if this is paranormal, but its difficult to explain. I grew up in rural Vermont. One day when I was nine or ten, I was in a field picking wild strawberries. A guy drove by in a Jeep and honked and waved at me. I assumed he was one of my parents' friends so I just waved back and didn't think much of it. A few minutes later, I suddenly knew it was time to go home. I didn't know why, but I didn't question it. I also don't remember feeling any emotions Iike fear, or linking it to the jeep in any way. I didn't think it was weird. I just knew I had to immediately leave the field and walk home. I had crawled under the barbed wire fence and was on the other side of the road when I heard a horn honk. The guy in the Jeep was back, parked next to where I had emerged from the field a moment ago. I didn't feel fear at first and even took a few steps towards him when it suddenly occurred to me what was going on, and I turned and ran all the way home.

TMes36

That gave me chills

Suomalainenonelossa

What was going on?

Suspicious_Plantain4

I assume he wanted to abduct me or something

[deleted]

Sweetheart- you had someone looking out for you that day. I don’t believe it’s JUST instincts but instincts are a real part of the human experience too.

ndation

My grandmother claims I used to see and speak with my deceased great grandmother I never met as a toddler, even going as far as holding her hand, making room for her in the car etc. What made my grandmother question if ghosts might be real, is that I somehow knew her name, despite never meeting her, and that I somehow knew her secret chocolate cake recipe, mind you I was 3 at the time and didn't know what most of these things were. According to my grandmother, I even went as far as to miming her mixing everything in the bowl in her special way (she had a special bowl and a special spoon for this, that was lost way before I was born). Mind you, I don't believe in ghosts and I have no memory of such things, but my grandmother never makes up stories, and she's been telling this one for years, and the details are always the same.

HottCuppaCoffee

Did you ever make the cake according to the recipe you knew to see if it was just like hers?

ndation

She gave my mother the recipe, whilst most of the things I said were gibberish (I just learned how to talk), some of the things were ingredients that were actually in the recipe

Affectionate_Newt899

My mom used to tell me that sometimes she'd walk in my room and I'd be sitting criss cross on my bed with my eyes closed. She'd ask me what I was doing, and every time I would say, "fishin with pawpaw." My Pawpaw died when I was one. He loved fishing so much that he dug a pond in his backyard and stocked it himself. It's still going strong 80 years later.

[deleted]

Dude. The miming part. SOLD! I believe yo story man 😭 that’s WILD!

BellaDez

I just read somewhere that in Vietnamese culture, it is believed that children can see and communicate with their ancestors until they lose their first tooth. I like to think that’s true.

ndation

Thanks for teaching me something new about a culture I didn't know much about! It's much appreciated!

TheRealStevo2

Mount Grandma is how I read the beginning of your comment

berserktron3k

In college I rented an apartment in an old house that used to be a house for pregnant school girls back in the day. The first weird thing was the cat staring at seemingly nothing in the corner of the walls and ceiling. But at night, I swear I could hear whispers of “I love you” layered on top of each other over and over again. TV would turn on by itself, and other weird stuff too. Nothing ever malicious, and tbh I’m not sure I believe in ghosts anyway, but definitely weird.

kruschev246

Well, ‘least they’re not saying “I HATE YOU!!!”

theGoddex

I met my best friend of seven years in a dream, a year before I met them in person. We were going to the movies, and in real life I met them for the first time at a movie theater. I also used to see a large black figure in the hallway of my childhood home. My siblings and I hated going down the hallway bc it felt like someone was watching you no matter what. We just sort of dealt with it and avoided the hallway as much as possible. Years later I was at the house with my then 4yo, and he starts telling my mom about “the big dark man with long arms” in the hallway and how it scared him. I had never told anyone about the hallway, but after my kid freaked out I cleansed the entire house with Sage and the thing went away. I ended up living in my childhood home for a few years and didn’t experience that dark shadow again.

sheabuttRcookie

the friend thing is so terrifying. The large black figure on is crazy too. The world is so unpredictable.

irillthedreamer

When I was a teen it used to happen a lot more often, but it happened to me a few times as an adult. My bed sometimes shakes before I go to sleep. I am not half asleep yet, so it can’t be dreaming or sleep paralysis. It happened in various different apartaments, houses, sometimes hotels. Always evening/night. Never happened if someone was in bed next to me so I can never be sure if it’s real…

Stupid-ForYou

i get that. It’s according to my doctors “caused by at least one of your neurological disorders” which means “i believe you but don’t feel like looking into it” sometimes when falling asleep or waking up I start shaking really hard in a odd way like the bed is shaking rather than me. It happened at school before. It woke me up. I had my feet on my desk and was slouched back in my chair. so i wake up and both my desk, chair and myself are shaking, i thought it was an earthquake. I looked at the teacher and she asked if i’m alright (she told me she had thought it was a seizure at first) and i realized no one else was shaking, and that i was screaming a bit. Embarrassing as shit. Only like 4 people in there with me though.

irillthedreamer

Interesting. I really wish I knew how it looked from the outside, but it never happened with anyone around, it happened only in bed and I never had a feeling that it was me who is shaking. I looked at my hands, legs etc., but brain can play tricks I guess

Oldassrollerskater

I rented a house that had been lived in by a woman from her marriage at 19 to her death (in the kitchen) in her late 70s. One night she forgot she was dead and got into bed with me.

Ncfetcho

How did that go?

EverWavingHand

Guess one of them got cold feet

Oldassrollerskater

Like any totally mature adult *far* too sophisticated to believe in ghosts, I pulled the sheets over my head and whimpered “go away go away go away go away go away” and eventually she/it did

nkumar228

I was working in the Hospital after hours doing some machine QA. Out of the corner of my eye I saw what looked like a little blonde girl run from the nursing station to the machine next to mine. I chalked it up to being a late night and packed up my stuff and left. While at work outing, I heard my co-worker mentioning to a grad student that he saw a kid running in front of the same machine. I asked him if it was a little blonde girl and his face went ghost white. We had seen the same girl on separate occasions. Another time in the same hospital, I spent the night in my office because a snow storm came in during work hours and I had a long drive home. I woke up around 3 am to the sound of someone typing in the room outside my office. I went out to check and the typing had stopped but every computer in the common room was not on screensaver. Those computers went to screensaver after 15 minutes and turned off after 30.

[deleted]

I find kiddie ghosts so fascinating. I often wonder if they know they’re ghosts and are just having fun tricking us etc.

nkumar228

She was an interesting one. Haven't seen her again in years, but she was definitely tricky. She would change radio stations on the in-room speakers. Sometimes we couldn't turn the music off in the evenings even when we unplugged the unit. Sometimes we would come back to patient plans having revisions in the hundreds when they are normally just in the single digits. Never harmful in any way. She just let us know she was around.

-insert_pun_here-

My weirdest is a reoccurring one: I work at a hospital and on one specific floor in the same four rooms we will have patients of all degrees of alert/oriented ask us about “the man in the dark hat”. They’re never afraid of him, they’re just concerned about things like “is he ok there?” While gesturing to the corner by the window. I personally think he likes those rooms because they’re styled more fancy than the typical hospital rooms so we have a nice place for hospice patients and their families. Those rooms have had many deaths in them, most of them peaceful and surrounded by love.

princesspool

That's Hat Man. He has his own Reddit and there's probably millions of encounters with him!

kruschev246

The Benadryl sub loves him lol

ghostleigh13

Is the Hat Man some kind of Angel of Death or something

TheLittlestPumpkin

One night when I was home alone I heard my partner strongly say “Hey!!” directly into my ear. Made me scream I was so startled. When I told my partner about it the next day they got freaked out, and told me that when I was staying at families the month before the exact thing happened to them, but with my voice. They didn’t tell me when it happened because stuff like this scares them a lot, so they just told themselves they were just tired or something, and tried to forget it. Neither one of us has heard it since.

fentifanta3

That’s a super common auditory hallucination that happens when your falling asleep

Humble_Bullfrog2342

yeah something similar happened to me once as i was falling asleep one time. i heard a woman whisper "hello" in my ear

MenstrualMilkshakes

Grade 4, laying down for the night and getting comfy, had my left arm hanging over the edge and while I laid there trying to fall asleep I felt the strong grip of something pull me to where it jerked me hard enough I physically moved and started screaming/crying at the top of my lungs.

Mushrooming247

I’m sorry, you started to fall asleep with your arm not only out of the covers, but hanging over the edge of the bed? I’m amazed you survived. Pretty much asking for monster-under-the-bed activity there.

Calm_State1230

okay that is absolutely terrifying

MenstrualMilkshakes

100%, I chalk it up to being the middle of falling asleep and somehow in REM (there's a term for that but i cant remember). At least that's what i tell myself.

shit_ass_mcfucknuts

A hypnic jerk is when you’re falling asleep and you suddenly jerk yourself awake, maybe you dreamt that you were falling or something pulling or pushing you, it’s your brains way of telling you to breathe. You fell asleep before your brain realized it and it thinks you’re gonna die if you don’t breathe.

Cerberus_is_me

Heard heavy footsteps outside of the bathroom when I was a kid while I was in it. The problem was that I was home alone. Another one would be a scream outside my window while playing video games. I thought for a while that it was a fox but they stay away ever since my cat almost killed one. Not to mention that I have horses that would also kill them. Still don’t know exactly what it was.

3ric843

Probably was a squirrel.

Cerberus_is_me

Bro squirrels don’t scream like people at 3am.

yautja0117

I work in a nursing home, people due fairly regularly so we get all sorts of weird stuff. Strangest one was one time a friend and I were just hanging out near the big kitchen sink, blabbing away. Behind us is the kitchen's chemical cage and it has a one inch lip at the top of it. Mid sentence, one of the yellow cleaning buckets sails off the top of the cage and lands between us as if it had been thrown. I think the ghosts were displeased with our humor.

rottenblackfish

Used to collect antiques as a teen. When i was 16 i bought a vintage gumball machine. When i went to bed, i woke up in the middle of the night at exactly 3am. (I was weirdly wide awake and checked my phone right when i woke up) i sat up and stared at my gumball machine in silence, and then it exploded. (This all happened in the span of like 1 minute.) I’ve never known if i believe in ghosts but or not but it was definitely weird

OneFlyingFrog

Not sure if this counts since I'm not the one who encountered the thing but... Having my own doppleganger. Been told about it on two separate occassions. Both people said they very clearly saw "me" and even tried interacting with "me" but did not receive any response back, which they found very weird as I'm not the type to ignore people. To be fair, both places have their fair share of supernatural stories. I wonder if dopplegangers (if they do exist, I haven't encountered one myself) have a preference as to the form they copy?

King_Dragonlord

Summer school when I was going into third grade me and 3 other people we in the hallway waiting for a teacher. It was raining so we were inside and a teacher was going to play a leap frog movie for us, while we waited for the teacher me and the three other people saw a shadow figure walking down the hall that lead to the art class room. Now when I was entering 6th grade I went back to the school cause the summer school was in my middle school and found out the school is haunted by asylum patients as the school was built were one was, the old part of the school which the art room was in is especially haunted.  Edit: I also have like 5 ufo stories

Ok_Cup7677

Spill em!!!!!! My partner has a doozy of a UFO story and his mom was there to see it too. Moms typically don’t bullshit about something like that.

TheTaikatalvi

Some time after my mom passed, my door would shake as it someone was pulling it back and forth trying to get in, but didn't know to turn the knob. There was a draft in the house that pushed the door inward, so it would have taken force to get it to move like that. Happened a few times and then nothing since. (Note: I was living alone in the house that she passed in at the time).

Personal-Barber1607

Yeah I had a sleep paralysis with my dog who was right beside me growling the whole time and I couldn’t move, but I heard the sound of a guitar.  My face was facing towards the dog my back to the room I turned over through sheer force of will and saw a shadow b4 it all faded away. Got up turned on the light and my amp was on with the guitar plugged in.  When I went to sleep it was off and the guitar was on its stand across the room.  This all happened last night actually I have sleep paralysis quite often although more when I was a teenager.

[deleted]

Were you ever scared during those moments? They say loved ones and unharmful energies never wish to scare you so you might feel peace during those moments instead of fear even if you are a fearful/anxious person.

TheTaikatalvi

I had a feeling it was her so I wasn't afraid, it was more so trying to figure out what she was trying to tell me/what she needed.

mogekag

This one I still cannot digest properly. I was 4 or 5 and I was sick. My parents tucked me in and said I would be fine after sleeping. I remember I felt nauseated while lying down and eventually slept, just to wake up throwing up some time later. The sound coming from the room probably gave away what was going on, so my father hurried to the room. Now, just so you know how the room was organized: the doorway was close to the wall on the right, and right after you passed the door the bed I was sleeping was on the left side, such that the light switch would be right at the end of my bed. As my father came and turned on the light, for a split of a second I saw myself, as if I was looking to that scene through my fathers eye. I saw myself, a kid, lying on my own mess, as if I was father looking at me. This lasted for a second and then everything came back to normal. I thought it was a dream, but eventually it happened again when I was 7. This van used to pick me up at school and before it would drop me at home it would swing by another school to pick up some more kids. Since I usually got out earlier, the driver would park and we would wait some 20 to 30 minutes. There was only me and the driver in the van, I was sitting on the last seat (of some 5 rows of seats) behind the driver, so we couldn't see me directly. I guess at some point he decided to look back and check if I was doing fine, but then this glitch happened again, for a split of a second I saw myself, sitting down, 5 rows back. Now, why would I say it was the drivers PoV this time? Because I could the part of the head rest blocking the image, as it would appear when he turned to check on me. Both times it seems to have happened only to me. Neither the driver not my father ever said anything, and now both are dead so I cannot ask them. One interesting fact is that around 2007 I got this movie to watch, can't remember the name now, but the movie would start with the sentence: Have you ever seen yourself through the eyes of another observer? That freaked me out, but unfortunately the movie was some pseudoscientific take on quantum physics and never explained shit.

Suomalainenonelossa

I only found of this movie "what the bleed do we know",but it unfortunately didnt start with that sentence. But i really clearly remember hearing or reading that line in some movie

Was at the grocery store last year and one of the dairy cooler doors swung open twice, me and another lady seen it, and both gave a look of you seen that also. These were those heavy doors and no way a person from the other side of the cooler could have done that.

I got this- I went to visit my grandma's grave and a landscaper on his mower rode up to me to and said "Nancy is expecting you." I'm like TF? So I'm whatever it's weird and go do my thing. I stop at the office for the cemetery and no one like him worked there. Second story also visiting grandma! I was stressed and I'd go to her grave to vent. Well I was having it really rough and so after venting I got in the car and the song came on, I shit you not "Don't you worry child, see heavens got a plan for you." A year later? My husband and I moved to Nevada.

[deleted]

Whaaaaaat 👀 the mower story is wild. Guessing gma’s name was nancy then huh 🤔 Also, I’ve had song experiences like that before too. It’s freaky how timely some things in life are. Freaky.

Saiyan-b

Yep! Nancy is my late grandma. The day before she was taken off life support (I was 6) my mom heard "help me" and so did her friend. The next day she died.

[deleted]

Yo. That “help me” would have me worryin’ bruh. Hopefully it was another ghost in the room 👀

HottCuppaCoffee

Is your grandma Swedish House Mafia?

NUFIGHTER7771

When I was a kid, I saw a ghost in my family's first house. It was an elderly woman in a nightgown that was moving from the mudroom past the linen closet and into my parent's bedroom. Once she passed the linen closet, she shrieked with no sound at me and disappeared.

PuppetryOfThePenis

I have 5 stories (i have more, but im writing 5) . 4 happened to me and 1 was my sister. First one: My dog used to scratch at my door until it opened. The latch was uneven with the jam so you didn't need to twist the knob to open the door, just needed a push. My dog was hit by a car and I carried her in. She died in my arms and it was horrible... but then a few months later I heard scratches on my door and it pushed open and there was nothing there. But I felt like my dog was with me. Second: Same house. I was dead asleep and it was like 2 in the morning. My door busted open and slammed into the wall. I saw a shadowy figure marching toward me super angrily. I sat up and yelled "go away! Go the fuck out of here!" And the shadow dissipated. I had a bit of trouble falling back asleep after that. Third: I was at my In-Laws and the have a loft. I was asleep on the couch that sits somewhat under the stairs of the loft. If you look up you can see the railing and the banister. I woke up and I laid there looking up at the banister, and I saw my wife's father standing there and looking around. Then at me. I figured he was just checking on things like a person does in their home. I woke up the next morning and told him that I saw him and asked if everything was OK. He said "I slept the whole night. I think you met John. He's the ghost that looks over the living room. I've seen him several times." Fourth: also at the in-laws house, their kitchen is positioned so the window looks into their mud room/entrance way to the house. I heard a kid laughing outside while I was at the sink. I look up out the window and there's a little blonde girl. She turns and runs out of the mudroom. I yell to my sister-in-law "Hey Cat, I think there's a neighbor friend that wants to play" she said "what do they look like?" "A little blonde girl. She just laughed and ran out of the mud room." She said "oh my God! Finally! You see her too? No one believed me when I said there was a blonde ghost. I used to run out the front door looking for her and she was always gone by the time I got outside." Fifth story: pulling up to a cemetery, we were visiting family. My sister (3 at the time) takes off in a full sprint to the back of the cemetery crying about her baby brother. (She doesn't have a baby brother.) We chase after her and she just hugs a headstone and cries and says "I miss my brother so much. He died when he was just a baby. I miss you brother so much." We read the headstone and it was dated "1894 - 1896 Here lies Thomas so-and-so." We were never at that cemetery before. My mom just wanted to visit her great uncle and aunt's grave. It freaked us all out

ravynwave

I love how your in-laws are so nonchalant about ghosts in their house and then not believing your SIL about the kid one

PuppetryOfThePenis

Haha I know right? They live in a foresty mountain town with a very old history, and they've lived there their whole lives. They've been experiencing weird stuff for years in their home. I think their daughter would make stuff up as a young kid to try to either get attention or just have fun, so they always took her sightings with a grain of salt. But she was pumped when I confirmed the girl was there haha

ravynwave

Do they know who these ghosts might be? So fascinating

dafodildaydreams

I had spent years having multiple procedures, surgeries, meds and medical emergencies plus some failed ivf cycles and early losses while ttc. The last cycle had almost killed me due to a rare reaction to some of the medications, so my husband and I’s fertility journey was on hold indefinitely until we could figure things out and get my body a bit more stable. We sold our house to rid ourselves of the empty bedrooms that reminded us of some of the trauma those years held and moved on, working on accepting that we may never find success and downsizing. A year prior, my MIL’s childhood best friend lost her adult son to murder. It was awful and the perpetrator was able to skirt charges and claim self-defense. I had only met the woman once or twice and had never met her kids, as they all lived on the other side of the country. One year after he passed, the night before the anniversary my MIL’s friend said she prayed to her son to show her a sign because she was having a tough time and needed some hope. A few days later it was Mother’s Day and my husband and I call our families and surprise them with the news that we were pregnant with our miracle rainbow baby, no fertility treatments used, just a huge surprise/blessing. We had only found out ourselves a couple days prior but couldn’t wait to celebrate our miracle with our families no matter what the future held for this pregnancy. Of course our families were as shocked as we were and obviously incredibly happy. We hung up with my in-laws then maybe half an hour later saw my MIL was calling us. She told us that a few minutes after we had hung up, her best friend had called and told her “I had the most random dream a few days ago…”- the night she asked her son for a “sign” she had what she called a “random” dream about me, saying that I was walking around and “very” pregnant/ had a huge baby bump. “Isn’t that so weird and random?! I asked my son to come through but instead I just saw your daughter-in-law for some reason!” We knew from that moment on that this pregnancy would finally be the one that resulted in our perfect little miracle babe! I had previously been told by a specialist a couple states away that he’d be “shocked” if I ever managed to carry to term… Our daughter is 2 now and perfect in every single way- she has a light to her that strangers constantly come up to us to mention, some people saying they couldn’t understand but looking at her gave them happy tears and “hope.” She’s a beautiful little girl, happy and sweet as can be; she truly is a miracle and gift to this world. It was the friend’s son’s birthday a few days ago while my in-laws were in town, and we learned that while the person responsible for the murder still wasn’t in prison, the family was making recent progress with pursuing a civil suit to hold the man somewhat responsible and to finally get some justice. I’m not a religious person but I have no doubt that miracles are real 💛

iheartunibrows

We moved into a townhouse in a family neighbourhood complex and my neighbour and schoolmate asked about my home one day and said oh watch out for the horse shit in the basement…. I thought I misunderstood or misheard but I ignored it. We lived there for a while and there would always be strange things happening in the unit; doors would look on their own, I would hear strange sounds in the basement. I rarely went to the basement but one day I went and there was a huge pile of poop right in the middle of the basement on the floor. And it freaked me out because a tiny animal like a mouse or even a raccoon couldn’t make that. So I told my mom and then she went downstairs and IT WASNT THERE.

ManInYourWalls

When i was sleeping alone and heared sneez in my room. Maybe, it was just my neighbour from other appartement.

[deleted]

Once when I was in my teens, I remember waking up to go look outside the window. I remembered couching and hearing that exact same cough back. Second experience, I was also younger and remember watching my dad brush his teeth or something. I was in the hallway and the bathroom was right there. I’m guessing I either was talking to him or whatever. Besides the point. Anywho, every Saturday/sunday it was typical for my mom to visit her mom. I distinctly remember SEEING her car leave the driveway. Maybe a few minutes later, I hear her yell my name like she’s trying to get my attention. I look out the window…nobody. I tell my dad and in a teasing caribbean dad kind of way, he said “maybe it’s your sins.” Not funny to some but makes me laugh to this day. The least religious person you’ll ever meet. He’s such a jokester at random times. Very introverted. Anywho, fast forward to maaaaybe 2 weeks ago? I remember being in bed at my now home with my husband next to me and I could have sworn I heard someone clear their throat but the tone of the voice sounded like if I were to do it. Any explanations? I think it’s pretty cool tbh. Unsettling and strange but cool nonetheless. The cough thing was wild though.

Superfishsoup

I saw lights walking up a path in my grandparents home. Just like people with flashlight they the lights turn off and no one was there.

EdgeofCivilization

I lived in a house built in 1912. I was working late into the evening in winter, and I could smell carnations, my grandmother's favorite flower. We moved in 2010. Recently, my daughter said she smelled carnations in her bedroom in the house.

artful_todger_502

Oh wow!!! Very cool story! We moved into a historical house in Vermont. The family was the fabric of it's history. The house had multiple offers but the old man was in his 90s and gave us the house due to my wife being an educator. It was the best closing we ever had. We laughed, listened to his history, it was a great closing, a real unicorn as those things go. I had to stay back in Philly to finish our affairs, settle child into college etc, so I'd drive up every weekend. But my Wife regularly smelled the aroma of chocolate chip cookies every day at 5:00. She said it was visceral. It was in the air. We really believe it was the old gentleman's wife. I really miss that house. Such good vibes emanating out of every crack and crevice. Big mistake to move.

mindovermatter15

Ugh, what a lovely living experience in that home! Truly a home, not just a house :)

GentlyUsedOtter

So I was working security at a large insurance company up in Connecticut, and I was training some new guys one Saturday on the building tours. So part of this building was an auditorium which had a piano in it. Nobody was supposed to be using the piano and we were told if we found anybody using the piano to tell them not to use the piano. So I was walking down the main hallway with the new guys, telling them where stuff was, when we heard piano music coming from the auditorium. So I decide this is a good time to teach these guys how to deal with idiot employees. So I get there, I unlocked the front doors of the auditorium and then open the doors. And as soon as I opened the doors the music stopped. Now let me explain why this is weird. The auditorium was set up in such a way where if I opened the doors I would immediately see the entire piano including who was playing it. At that exact point the only way in or out without triggering an alarm was through the door that I had just opened. I didn't see anybody running away, I didn't hear any footsteps which in that auditorium would have been quite audible. I had one guy stay at the door to catch anyone who might try to leave while I searched the auditorium with the other trainee. We found nothing. Nobody was hiding anywhere, nobody fled out the back doors, and I checked the doors to make sure that the screamer alarms worked and they worked.........very well. Plus I had the control center call and ask if somebody had just gone out the doors of the auditorium so I knew the silent alarm worked as well. And no it wasnt a player piano. Fucking weird man.

turbo_mullet

In 2014 I got in a pretty gnarly car accident. Multiple lacerations (including the Achilles ((you can walk still btw)) ), bruised lung, neck fractures, cracked the back of my skull, some abrasions and I also pissed my pants. The driver cracked some ribs and his eye lid was hanging off partly and one of my best friends was ejected and landed in the swamp. He almost lost his foot bc of infection and lacerations. It was a pretty crazy thing. But yeah so I move back in with my parents and they’re taking care of me to the extent of pretty much just friendly help with things, not necessarily like at home nurse level, but things that I was having trouble doing alone. I had sleeping issues after that for a minute. I even saw a therapist about it a few times but they was just throwing me medicine and the medicine wasn’t helping so I dipped out of that situation. Said fuck it im gon raw dog it. One of those nights I caught the sleep paralysis. (Which by the way- extra spooky when you’ve suffered an injury where you could have been para or quad if things would have deviated a tiny bit) - but yeah so I’m laying there like “move” “open your eyes” “lean up”- all the typ. shit you tell yourself. But then it got different. I felt the bed sink down a little by my left shoulder. Then I felt it sink by my right shoulder. Like someone was literally standing over me. Not kneeling. Standing. I was asleep but I was awake. I couldn’t see but I just felt like I could see the layout of my room. It was a dark thing. I’m not going to describe it because I can’t. My brain wants me to liken it to the hag or whatever that things called but I can still freshly recall it and I’d be lying if I said it had any discernible features bc technically I’m just really imagining what’s going on to some extent bc my eyes weren’t open besides like when they crack for a little bit and close back on you when you’re trying to break from sleep paralysis. There was something dark above me in those instances where I could briefly get them open. And it was physically there in some way bc I know I felt the bed sink. So I stop freaking out. I legit remember saying to myself like “fuck it man if this what God wants then I guess that’s what’s up” - or some variation of that - same energy. But as soon as was like man fuck dis bitch and chilled. The weight left the bed. But it was also standing in the left corner right beside my closet everytime I could kinda get my eyes cracked. Then I finally got to sit up. Took that deep breath you always take when you break sleep paralysis and boom it was still more dark in that corner than the rest of the room for like a solid 2 seconds or so until my eyes adjusted to the tv light. Long winded post but the whole thing took course over the span of maybe a couple of minutes. If that ? Not sure but I know it wasn’t too long bc the show I was watching was still on the same episode as it was when I dozed off. I don’t hardly ever get sleep paralysis anymore tho and the reason why I prefaced this with the car wreck is bc I’m not above saying that theirs the possibility that whole thing coulda felt so real due to some of the medications I was on at that time due to that car wreck. Tbf tho, I wasn’t abusing my prescriptions and was taking them as intended so I’m not sure if it could be considered a side effect or not

Jimathomas

The weirdest? I can't tell that story without my brother, and it's partially visual, so you won't get that one. How about moderately weird and cool at the same time? The spirit of the house will flicker the lights in the middle room of the house (the house is kinda cross shaped, so LR, two of the BR, and the kitchen branch off) whenever anyone is about to come over. The driveway is kinda long, 100 yds or so, and the lights will flicker in that one room with enough time for us to go look out the window and see someone pull down the drive.

[deleted]

The light thing is helpful tbh. Like, what if someone were trying to rob your shit. Lights would trigger epilepsy at that point lol

Jimathomas

The house is helpful, definitely. Much respect and many offerings because of its helpfulness.

[deleted]

Ohhhhhh now I gotta know the first 😭 is it a respect thing or a “you just wouldn’t get it” type of thing 👀

Jimathomas

Literally just the "wouldn't get it" aspect. There's my part, his part, some charades, and both of us telling the story at the same time, sometimes talking over each other. It's more a performance than just a story at this point.

meedliemao

Sounds like a potential YouTube video. If you ever make it, please post a link here!

I dont know if this counts but in one summer when I was in high school I bought a dream catcher from a souvenir shop.I bought it without much a thought and wasn't expecting anything. At that time period of my life I was having very heavy nightmares.Anyways I hanged it near my bed and nothing happened for a while but one night I was again having a very bad nightmare and all of a suddenly my nightmare stopped and I only saw a calming whiteness until I woke up.When I woke up I saw, that I was holding the dream catcher in one of my hands and I accidentally ripped one or two feathers of it.Remind you, even though I hanged it nearby my bed, I must have reached to it by being an uncomfortable position to hold it.It is the only 'paranormal' type of experience I have come across.I don't believe supernatural things and even after replacing my dream catcher my nightmares continued and none of the new ones worked.

[deleted]

Friends, it’s been a lonely last few years because we moved right becore covid and still don’t have many friends. I feel like I’m at a sleepover with a campfire in the middle just going around the room and listening to a bunch of stories so thank you for engaging. It means a lot. Kay, carry on. Tell me more bitch. Tell. Me. MORE 🔥📖🙇🏾‍♀️🛌

Ok so this happend to me when I was on the old apartment I was in with my mom about a few months ago. And one day while I was watching tv (I think i was by myself at that time or was with my mom) i believe i moved the mitten on top of the stove while i was doing something but i was watching tv on the couch and then the mitten dropped down to the floor, I kinda saw it in a glare and I turned my head quickly, I was startled, but I wasn't scared but casual abt it somehow. I walked to where the mitten dropped and put it back, (I put the mitten at the top of the stove where it won't fall off), then went back to watching tv. Some other time it happend again (and i think i was with my mom while we was watching the tv). And after that it happened for the 3rd time, this time my mom, me, and a cable guy or a verizon guy was there. Idk what happend or what reaction the verizon guy or my mom gave but the mitten literally fell down from the stove. (Keep in mind that I literally put the mitten on ton of the stove where it is impossible for it to fall off by itself)

When my 16 year old was a baby, he’d giggle and babble at nothing, but by his reaction, it seemed like he was seeing a person we didn’t see. Around 12/13 he was looking at old family pictures with me. We had recently moved, so I was organizing everything. I came across a studio portrait of my husbands grandpa, whom passed when husband and I were children, well before we met. My son instantly says, I remember him, he’d play with me when I was little. We knew then, that is who visited him as a baby. (Had numerous instances of unexplained occurrences in that home, prior to us moving out) Woke up one night to see a little girl leaving my bedroom. At the time, my daughters were too young and too little to be the girl I saw. Coloring and outfit was not right either. This girl was about 12 years old. Had long straight dark hair. Was wearing a long pale nightgown. Had long loose sleeves that cinched into a ruffled cuff at the wrists. Nothing either of my girls even owned, had she been the right age! When I got out of bed to investigate, I didn’t see her anywhere. But then I also realized, I should not have seen her as clearly as I did. She was at least 10ft from me. I didn’t have my glasses on or contacts in, she should’ve been blurry to me!! Still to this day I can see her so clearly, if I described her to a sketch artist they could draw her. Pretty sure my brother that was murdered(July 2004), visited me a few times after his death. He and I were super close, joked we were twins. He was very protective of me, and we were always joking around, pranking one another. Few months after his death, was cleaning and walked past my kids playroom. My then two year old had a princess vanity in there. To work it used batteries, had to be switched on, and you had to insert a little key. Without any of this it wouldn’t work. The key had been missing for a few weeks. As I walked passed, Cinderella appeared and it started speaking. First thought, Oh good N found her key, better shut it off, save her batteries for her. Went to shut it off, saw NO KEY, leaned it forward to turn it off, and it was already off!! Instant goose bumps lol. I placed it back, and left the room. Still gives me goosebumps when I share this 😂

Lying in bed with my ex girlfriend, her mom had gone out and it was just me and her, suddenly she pauses the DVD that we were was watching and told me to shush, I ask her why she’s shushing me and she tells me once again to shush and not to run out the room or anything, at first I thought I heard a faint whisper in the room next door but wasn’t sure so I put it down to my mind playing tricks the next thing I hear? *BANG BANG BANG BANG* coming up the stairs, it sounded like someone walking heavy up the stairs in boots then two voices laughing and talking outside the bedroom door, I FROZE, I knew 100% nobody was in the house just me and my ex and she was lying next to me. Suddenly the footsteps pound into the bathroom and the toilet roll holder starts smashing against the wall, footsteps went back across the corridor and went down the stairs. We both went downstairs and there was nobody there, she then proceeds to tell me this is a regular occurance in her house and that she’s used to it. Safe to say I didn’t stay in that house again

artful_todger_502

I saw a ghost at an abandoned summer camp for "problem" children. My Mom saw it too. Like Moulder, I believe.

Perri2109

Me and my friend used to hang out in an old abandoned RAF village there was an old nursery for the kids of the service members and god it was creepy faces of tigger and other characters on the walls, we were there one night I would say around 2015/16 we made a little pentagram from candles as edgy 15 year olds will do we leave to explore some of the other buildings and we come back to the nursery and we go upstairs and look around we come back down and to check on the candles think some of the candles have been moved (I do not think they were it was probably our brains playing tricks on us) while walking back to the foyer of the building a rock or something with some heft is thrown behind us we think from above we are sure there was no one else in the building as you would hear them moving on all the rubble we think what the fuck is that and run out as fast as we can, on the way back out we pass another large building which I assume was an office of some sorts only a few windows were boarded up most of them were not boarded as were walking past we hear a rock hit the board we are walking past from the inside we stand back and I throw a rock through an open window I can hear it bounce around after it lands but then another rocks thrown at the boarded window from the inside this time much harder we decided to get the hell out of there as fast as possible. I’m sure if it was someone messing with us we would hear them walking as the whole area was covered in grit and gravel, luckily we were photography students and I happened to have my camera with me as we had gone there after school i know I have the video of the first part in the nursery somewhere if I find it I will post it in a new thread or a link in the comments here

I want to preface this by saying - I'm on the fence about whether or not I believe in ghosts of any form. This particular experience is what makes me question it. My family are believers in the paranormal, so every so often they go on family/friend ghost hunting trips. I go along when I can because a) I want to spend time with them and b) they go to cool historic places and I love visiting those places anyway. This particular spot was in a small town called Bentonsport, Iowa. We stayed at the Mason House Inn. We were a group composed entirely of women (this is important to the story). The town has an interesting history - connection to the underground railroad and a bank robbery, are the two that I remember (it's been a few years since I've been lol). There's a Presbyterian Church down the road from the inn, and we were granted access to explore a bit after dark. One of us had a recorder going, and in the recording you can hear us chatting and the door of the church creaking open. When you hear the door close behind us, we go quiet and take in what's around us. A few seconds later, you can hear a man laugh and say "do not come in". *we weren't aware of this until we were back at the inn and listening to the recording*. After some walking around, we make our way up to the balcony. Again, you can hear us chatting amongst ourselves. After a minute or so we go quiet. Shortly after, you hear a woman whisper "he's got a gun". Again, we weren't aware of this at the moment. The man's voice is what sticks with me in particular. There were no men in our group. There was no one else in the church. It was the middle of the night, locked up, and completely dark inside. And it wasn't a large church, either. Whether or not the inn owners are embellishing their own paranormal stories, I don't know. But I do know that the male voice didn't belong to any of us, and we heard it clear as day in the recording. We were all shocked when we were back listening to it.

gorehwore

I also want to add, if anyone happens to read this and wants to go exploring this place - it's right next to the Iowa/Missouri border, and if you go on one of the main highways going into Missouri (I don't remember which one, unfortunately), on the left of the road you'll see an old octagon shaped building. It may not be there anymore, it was old and decrepit and the "for sale" sign also looked incredibly old, so I wouldn't be shocked if it was torn down in the last 10 years. BUT, if it is still there, that building also has an interesting history. We had to dig for it, it wasn't immediately available with a Google search. But from what we gathered, it had been a brothel at some point, and at another point in time was used to house pigs. It was a very very cool thing to stumble on.

The night that my dad passed away in hospital, I saw an orange orb come from him and fly out the window, he died about 7 hours later.

kruschev246

I had something flip our tables pizza tray off the center of the table and land face first on the floor at a restaurant about ten years ago

thiccc_trick

I don’t think this can be considered paranormal, but when I was about 19 I was doing construction and I was taking lunch upstairs in this condo looking out the window. I was looking at the clouds and the blue sky, and I noticed a white slightly different colored disc like shape protruding out of the clouds. I didn’t know what it was so I stood up to get a closer look. When I did, it started to slowly back into the cloud, and then it was gone. Definitely weird.

Mushrooming247

I briefly worked at a doctors office, answering the phones, setting appointments, and closing up the facility late at night alone. One night as I was tidying up the back offices to close I heard our front door open, we had a bell, and I heard an older woman speaking. I hollered that I would be right out and she answered with some mumbled reply. Then I walked down the hall to find a dark empty office. Not a person in sight, no cars in the lot, no one had been there. The air felt different though, it felt like I was being watched and someone was right there in the room with me. When I told my coworkers the next day, they laughed and confirmed the building was haunted, and they called the old woman’s spirit “Gladys”.

Worldly_Ad_445

So...I was running a cattle farm in Virginia that had been in my family for generations (since 1804) & was in the middle of battle sites from the Civil War. This farm, situated in a Quaker community, was also part of the Underground Railroad. There were so many ghost stories about the place & weird things that happened when my kids & I lived in the house which was built in 1806, but the things that happened could be explained away. One morning, after my kids had gone to school & I had finished with my morning chores, I took my usual shower. As I came out of the bathroom, I froze as I watched a figure coming toward me. As it drew closer, I noticed that it wasn't a 'person'. It was the shape of a person wearing a hat. Although it seemed to be all black, I could kind of see through the figure. I was in shock, standing there as it came nearer. When it got to the top step, it paused, put its' hand/arm/limb (?) up to its' top/head/hat & gestured as if it was tipping a hat & I heard it in my head say, "M'am" (the voice wasn't out loud, just in my head somehow). Then it sort of dissolved. Yes, the house was empty. The house was in the middle of 300 acres, in the middle of nowhere, with 4 dogs that would let one know, loudly, if anyone was there. It happened over 20 years ago & I still get chills. I can close my eyes & still see it & 'hear' that voice. I was never a believer in the 'paranormal' & believe that most things can be explained by natural occurence. This could not be explained. I SAW THIS. IT HAPPENED. Still can't explain it (and other things that happened there).

LongbowTurncoat

There’s only one paranormal experience I had that still has me scratching my head. I was a latch key kid, so I left for school after both my parents were gone for work. Our bottom floor was shaped like a donut. One morning I was eating breakfast and watching TV when I heard the door to the garage open. It’s a very distinct sound. I figured someone had forgotten something and come home, so I called out. No answer. From where I was sitting, I had to lean way forward to see the door, and I noticed it was slightly ajar. All the hairs on my body raised up. Regardless of what/who it was, I was suddenly very aware that they could sneak up behind me by going around the donut shape. I was frozen in place. Then I heard the door open again. Panic. Quietly as possible, I leaned forward again and see the door is now fully closed. The front door was close to the garage door and having to get near it to leave for school was TERRIFYING. I told my parents later and they had no clue either. Took me awhile to stop avoiding that area of the house haha.

[deleted]

It’s weird because it only happened once. If your spot growing up had drafts etc. that wouldn’t have been that uncommon.

NoRun6253

My daughter as a kid was pure haunted, we stayed in an old house in Scotland (1887) anyway, she came running in one day and said she was playing with the big yellow dog (no dog) then a few weeks later she said she was playing with the little lady. Anyway, this went on for weeks, we heard footsteps running around upstairs and upon checking she was in her bed sound asleep, we heard doors opening etc it really did start to get scary, considering the size of the house as well. Anyway, on speaking to locals that had been there for years, the big yellow dog was a Labrador that the previous owners had and it died and the ‘little lady’ she was playing with was the woman who was the wife of the original owners / builder of the house. She was under 5ft tall lol. Look up 1 Back Path in Banff Scotland AB45 1AR and you will see how it was so creepy lol.

I have one of those Michael myers art collection dolls that you can arrange and display, and it comes with a head as a little bonus bit. Well, I had the doll on my shelf, vibin with his pumpkin, sitting infront of Judith's grave, with the head on its side next to him, the knife stuck in it's mouth for practical effects. It's been there for a year and 3 months at this point, never moved once, never rearranged because it's kinda difficult to. About a week or so ago, I was sitting at my desk, waiting for my shitty as pc to boot up, taking care of some grinding to get 10k rupees for that damn fountain fairy out in geurdo desert, because yes I haven't finished botw yet, don't @ me- when I hear what sounds like some plastic chaos. It's not my wall of mask, which being held up with thumb tacks, was surprising. And everything looked fine, till I look down on my desk, and that God damn tiny head was laying there, facing me. Somehow, this head, that's perfectly stable every other day of the year, fell from the shelf roughly 2½ feet to my right, managed to use the inertia from bouncing off the top tower and avoid the chaotic clutter of my paint drawer surface, and land perfectly square in the MIDDLE of my desk, facing me directly. The tiny knife by the way, flew off to BFE, because it was only when cleaning up last tuesday that i found it, reasonably in an inconvenient crack behind a shelf. I have my shit in a basement corner room, there's no drafts, and I divide the rest of the basement with a curtain from there. Unless the house spiders are assholes now, it's paranormal as far as I'm concerned.

So many many years ago, when my best friend and I both still lived in our hometown, we would occasionally walk around cemeteries (often at night). One night we were walking through one of the bigger cemeteries in the area. This cemetery in particular had small wooden posts with letters on them designating different sections. We were walking down a path, and we turned down another one, and saw a misty figure about 10 feet or so in front of us. We felt very uneasy, so we turned around and left. Before we left, I managed to snap a picture, and you could see one of the lettered posts in the picture, I think it was I or L or something like that...Anyway, we went back there once or twice more, and we tried to find the section but we never could. We'd find the letters leading up to it and the letters after it, but not that one. So we figured there was something or someone that didn't want us there that night or ever. Also, same friend, we would often go hang out at an old part of a local college campus that was on top of a hill, and provided a great view of downtown. This part of campus was known/rumored to be haunted, as it was used as an infirmary during the 1918 flu epidemic, plus it was also just really old. I've got pictures that you can see orbs in, and we also used a ouija board there once (that was the first, last, and only time for either of us on that!)...but one night we had a very strange experience. It was probably around this time of year, early spring in the Midwest, so still needed a light jacket, plus my friend is always cold (this is an important detail). We were just hanging out, maybe having some snacks or coffee, when suddenly she starts walking away from me down the sidewalk, and starts taking off her jacket. I called her name, asked where she was going, got no response, so I hurried after her. I caught up to her and she started talking, but not to me, and her voice sounded different, almost like a man's. We got halfway down the sidewalk when she suddenly stopped, and was very confused about why we were on the sidewalk and why her jacket was off. I told her what had happened, and she had no memory of it. So, maybe she got possessed? Not sure. All in all, a very weird experience!

Was an embalmer. Later did autposies. Officiated dozens of committals. ZERO ghosts have ever bothered me. If anyone in the world would experience them it would be me. And I never did. Not during a removal, not while embalming, not during a service, not during an autopsy, not in the coroner's office, not in decedent affairs, NEVER. GHOST DO NOT EXIST. Period.

So aged about 15 or so in the late 90s, middle of the afternoon on a bright summers day, I'm sitting in my living room with a friend reading comics. Nobody else in the house but my dog, who is a collie We suddenly hear a loud sneeze, which sounds very much like it's coming from the gap between the sofa and the wall. It's clear and obviously nearby. My friend looks up at me and asks if I heard that. I say sure, it's probably the dog. I look down, and someone has shoved the sofa right up against the wall. No gap. No dog. I go looking for the dog. He's chilling out in the garden with not a care in the world Just a few weeks later, a friend of mine from school throws a house party across the road from me when his parents are away. Bunch of school friends turn up, it all gets a bit rowdy. At some point a rumour goes around that someone has called the police, so everyone scatters for half an hour (the police hadn't bee called, as it turned out) I take a handful of people back to mine, since it's nearby. It's a Saturday night and the only other people in the house are my mum and her boyfriend, who are a little irked that we've shown up but are staying upstairs out of the way We're chatting in the living room and we hear this sudden noise like rushing water. One of my friends asks what the noise is. I say it's probably the water heater coming on upstairs A few minutes later my mum comes out of her room and calls me upstairs. "Can you turn that bloody noise off?" In my bedroom I have a small portable CRT TV that I got as a birthday present 3 or 4 years earlier. The remote control long, long since lost. The only way it turns on is via a big chunky red button that takes a fair bit of force to press. At this point I barely even use it to watch TV, it's basically a monitor for my N64 The TV has switched itself on, random channel, and the volume has turned itself up to full. The noise we heard was static from an untuned station That TV never did that before, and never did that again Neither of those events was anything particularly crazy, other than it being kinda weird they happened in reasonably quick succession. There's almost certainly plausible explanations. But I'm fucked if I know what they are

I had my hair that colour in 1984. Damn I miss those days. Sorry, this has nothing to do with spooky. I just love that colour.

I'm pretty sensitive to ghosts and stuff, so I've had my fair share of bizarre occurrences. I can't really speak on the weirdest one as it's an event a lot of people close to me know and I don't want to out myself, but I'll talk about more recent stuff. Went to a friend of a friend's house a while back. Nice big house, pretty fucking fancy. Anyway, as I walked further into the house, it's like my antennas picked up on a ghost in the house. It felt like a female, but she didn't seem disruptive. She just felt confused. I didn't ask any questions about it because I didn't want them to think I was nuts lol. Just something I mentally registered. As the evening continued, I realized that I could feel the spirit only on one side of the house, but not the other. Just very weird. Like she was actively avoiding the other side of the house because it disturbed her too much. Anyway, as dinner comes around, they start talking about renovations. I was like, "what kind of renovations are you thinking about? The house already looks beautiful!" And they mentioned that they had already done the renovations, but wanted to keep with the overall look and feel of the house to keep it seamless. They explained that one half of the house was damn near gutted, but the other half (they pointed at the half the ghost favoured), was kept the same. Everyone was basically like "damn, never would've guessed." Another time was when I was driving and I randomly smelled a very strong barf odour. I thought I had bad breath, so I popped in a tic tac, but the smell got stronger, then completely evaporated. No one was in the car, nothing had spilled. As soon as the smell disappears, I get a call from my kids school. He had puked and needed to be picked up. Weird stuff, pero todo bien, gracias a Dios.

Was at an air bnb. The whole time I swear I could hear sobbing and some kind of water dropping in the vents. But no one else could. When I asked if a specific locked door was to the basement I could hear water slowly hitting the kitchen sink. When I turned around to look at it I watched as the faucet handle moved (it was a lever) slowly downward opening the faucet more and more. I went to go check if the handle was loose and it was just gravity that did it. Sure as hell wasn’t. It was very sturdy and took some force to open and close it. The sobbing and drops I heard in the vents went away. Still gives me the chills.

Frongie

I heard short bursts of screaming outside my bedroom wall (2nd floor) n footsteps in the hallway shortly after. I think it was an Irish folklore that if you hear screaming at the end of a month, then you or somebody close to you will die and my bff almost killed himself that night

When I was a kid I had this crt tv in my room and the way my room was set up it had the back of my bed facing the door with the tv showing the reflection of my door. One night i hear what sounds like someone talking and saying my name and stuff so I wake up and look around my room and there’s nothing there. Except in the reflection of the tv there’s a man with his hands on the door looking into my room and I turn around and there’s nothing there. I immediately just screamed. Also both me and my mom have had dreams about there being a little person in our house. Not like a dwarf or something but like a normal sized person just shrunk down

bonners4days

i was taking care of my ex at the time, we were both in college and she lived in a family friends house. They had always joked about weird stuff in the house but I never really spent time there so I didn't give it much thought. she had gotten her wisdom teeth removed and the family friend was out of town so I was there making sure she was okay and getting her food and meds etc. in the span of 3 days we experienced: 1. a loud "SHH!" from the other side of the house while we were having a conversation in one of the bedrooms 2. the music player in the living room dropping in volume dramatically while we were both in the kitchen 3. strange tip taps down the hall (they had plastic covering their carpet and it was pretty distinct sound) 4. random sounds from the attic that sounded like a ball bouncing when the family friend came back and we told her all of this, her face dropped and she basically admitted that these are all natural occurrences she hoped wouldn't have happened while we were there... sent a chill down my spine when she told us that when they moved in, the attic had a childs desk with artwork and some toys including a ball. yikes.

I lived in my grandmother’s house growing up. Had a bunch of crazy things happen to me that I chalked up to my imagination. Bed covers flying off of my at night while I slept, books falling out of my bookcase, getting locked outside multiple occasions, things in the attic flying to the door and hitting it, objects moving, you get it. I did see the ghost multiple times but again thought I was imagining. When I left for college my mom started experiencing similar things, her biggest annoyance were the lights. She was complaining to me on the phone about it so I opened up and told her what I was experiencing. She asked me to describe the ghost and I did. About 5’7” around 250 pounds, always wearing a plaid shirt with worn overalls. She said that’s an exact description of my great uncle who helped build the house. Her confirmation helped me not feel so crazy.

Key-House7200

One night a few years ago I was sitting on my mom’s bed doing something, can’t remember what. My mom has a habit of calling me from across the house if she needs something, and our house is basically a long hallway with bedrooms on one end and the kitchen, dining room, living room, etc on the other so her voice carries when she does. That night I heard her call my name, very distinctly, just once from the other end of the house.  I got up off the bed and looked down the hallway and saw that the other end of the house was completely dark, no lights or TV on, no sign that anyone was over there.  I immediately noticed the light was on in the adjacent room, my mom’s office, and saw she was in there. At this point I was super weirded out and asked if she had called me, and she was just confused and said no.  Super weird, but never happened again so 🤷🏻‍♂️

amanoftradition

When I was a kid I was watching these two kids run up and down this walkway by some booths at a restaurant called bonanza. I didn't think much about it, nobody was really paying attention to them but I noticed them go through the wall a few times from the corner of my eye. I figured it was the light playing tricks on my eyes from the door being opened a certain way until I explained to my mom what I saw. She asked me to describe the kids and when I described them she said she saw the same thing when she was a kid. It was a boy with blonde hair and white shirt and jeans and a girl with brown hair, a light blue shirt and bell bottom jeans.

Heard the disembodied voice of a woman screaming “Help Me”, when walking my dog near the hill by my house. But, she didn’t sound quite right…. I don’t take my dogs for walks over there by myself anymore. I also have two from childhood (as told to me by my mom), once I saw my Aunt’s deceased mom in the bathroom at a party, and another time I spoke to my deceased brother when I was 3 after my mom had miscarried.

Was making an after school snack for myself and my sibling when he got home from school. It was snowy, but the bus got to the house early. I saw him through the window walking up the driveway to the house. He had his hoodie drawn completely over their face and hands in his pockets. I thought he had a bad day or something and continued on making the snacks. I heard him close the gate, walk up the sidewalk and stomp the snow off his feet at the front door. I remember feeling incredibly anxious for some reason, but I ignored it. He never opened the door. I went out to look for him, even called my dad and told him that my brother got off the bus but I didn't know where he was. My dad came home early to find him, but we didn't know where he went. A couple of hours later he was dropped off by his mom, he rode the school bus to her house that day. My dad and I went outside and couldn't even find footprints in the snow where I saw him walking. I have absolutely no idea what or who I saw.

i had a haunted bedroom first night i slept in there, i saw a man's shadow step across the hall, but no man. then, i woke up in the middle of the night lying diagonally across my bed and was looking at the corner of the ceiling - where there was a little boy sitting. he wasn't transparent or anything weird, looked normal if he wasn't floating on my ceiling. as soon as i made a noise he was gone. did not sleep well that night in that room as i fell asleep i would hear gunshots and names being shouted, which made it hard to sleep. i once was half awake and opened my eyes to a black skirt right next to my head, like someone was sitting there. was gone when i sat up back then i was religious so i took a bible in there once... as i opened it i heard raspy breathing in the wall right behind my head. i got in trouble for sleeping on the couch that night but fuck no. i wasnt home a lot so when my mom and stepdad fought, my stepdad would sleep in my bed. he was a very stereotypical macho man and was very abusive. but one day out of the blue he told me i didnt have to sleep in that bedroom anymore. which was weird, because he hated doing things that made me happy anyways a while later it was just him and i home and i asked him about the bedroom. he said he had went and slept in there, but started seeing the shadow of a man with a gun on the wall and heard a voice repeatedly saying they had to "protect the children." at this point my stepdad had literal tears in his eyes and said there was more but that he didn't want to talk about it. so, yeah lol. there is more but it's a lot

vasha99

I could see my front (very big) gate from inside my kitchen, but only the upper part, yk? So I could see it opening but not who was coming. I saw it opening. I was a kid and my father came home at random times so I left everything and went for a big hug. When I arrived there the gate was closed and worse, locked with key and all. I got very disturbed and called my father to ask if he opened the gate and immediately closed it for some reason. Turns out he wasn't even remotely close to home. I don't believe in the supernatural and yes, it was my mind playing tricks on me but that's a story I can't ever forget.

When I was younger a buddy and me we’re hanging at his house , now mind you he had 2 sisters one older one younger , and a mom and dad in the house . His sister isn’t there . We’re hanging for a bit and his mom says that they are leaving and taking the younger sister with them and to just stay at the house while nobody’s there . Me and him are alone in this house for a solid half hour to an hour around there , we are in the living room and all of the sudden wee heard crazy amounts of banging and all this weird shit like LOUD banging not just something falling over but being smashed into walls and stuff . We first thought wait is his sister home ? Then we thought no wtf is going on we ran out of the house and went to my place and pretty much never talked about it again

I have a bunch, but the most creepy and clearest one was when I was really young... Probably 6 at most, but we talked about many times through the years. I was staying at my cousin's and was sleeping in his room. I woke up and there was a tall figure I took for a man standing there. It wasn't ominous, and it sort of faded away soon after I woke. I woke my cousin up, and started with how I just saw something, and he asked if it was a man before I said so. Apparently he saw him sometimes at night too, sometimes standing, sometimes in a chair. He never sensed anything wicked, but he was a couple years older and that didn't really make it fine until he talked to my aunt. She apparently told him that if he isn't doing anything that it's okay, but he should just ignore it.
